I remember driving through Allston down a road they had not shut down that had a bunch of plows and earth movers clearing the road all at once. Felt like driving through a video game
When snow falls like that it's nice for literally one day. It's fun to watch and it looks pretty while driving.
After that one day though the plows hit the snowbanks and it mixes with dirt and mud and looks like shit then you have it in the woods with the dead trees. My grandfather said it best, everything in the winter is black and white, no color in the world.
I appreciate the magic moments snow can bring, but I will not complain for even one second that the last few winters have been mild.
I remember that storm. People were snowboarding on my street (allston). The news came to report on the snowboarding. Cops saw the news and came and shut down the snowboarding. :(
That was my first winter driving Uber*, and I remember driving this couple home to Southie and they were trying to guess which snow piles had cars underneath lol.
*Ah, back when Uber drivers could make money. Especially when it snowed and the surges went crazy. The good ol' days.
Oh yeah. There were walk thru tunnels on the side walks. And snow melting trucks in the suburbs. And roads wide enough for 2 cars plus parked cars on the side were reduced to 1 ways. Was fun.
I don’t need a reminder, I’ve been dreaming of it. I wanna be curled up on my sofa with a blanket and a warm drink.
Summer is just bugs, sweat, humidity and overall yuck. Give me that cool crisp winter air any day.
YES YES YES YES
I moved here from the south two years ago and was excited to spend all winter snuggled up and snowed in. Then... two nothing winters in a row.
Totally agree. A friend of mine has a long ass driveway and when we had that year (2015 i think), where we got slammed by multiple foot plus storms, his driveway looked like an ice canyon. I did not envy him that year.
I live on a huge hill with a long windy driveway. If I had a normal driveway the house would be worth a lot more, it's a monumental task to clear it. I've had 3 plow companies stop working with me because of the hassle.
I've gotten great at walking up & down icy/snowy slopes, but if you need a delivery of oil, you're kind of screwed.
It's the 4 pm sunsets, the all day grey gloomy landscape and the snow stops looking pretty as soon as it stops. If I didn't have to deal with the snow I'd enjoy it more, but wintertime is depression central from lack of sunlight.
As a person who is literally freezing all the time, no, I can’t. I can wear sweaters, but I can’t make my face warmer 😭 we get 2 hot months out of 12 and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.
The Atlantic North East is slowly (or maybe not so slowly) becoming a temperate rainforest. We’ve all but lost any chance of major snow storms, our winters start much later and fluctuate wildly between freezing and slightly chilly, and our summers are hotter and hotter.
Fuck global warming, I want my snow back
My kids are 8 and 10. We were looking at their pics growing up and they noticed that we don’t get snow in Boston anymore and how real climate change is.
When we lived 30 miles NW of Boston (still within the Commuter rail) for 10 years ending around 2005, we had so much snow that we had roof warmers and had to use a roof rake to keep the snow from accumulating on the roof too much. I lived in snow boots 6-7 months a year, and we had a good 2 feet on the ground. Life was seriously like living in an LL Bean catalog. Pine trees, snow, moose, flannel.
I remember we retained someone to plow anytime it was more than 8". I remember one year, we had 17 plowable storms.
We aren't that far north anymore, but back in CT where I grew up with blizzards and wearing snowsuits to school and those boots-over-shoes that were so difficult to remove - we are lucky if we get one sticking snowfall a season now.
right? i can’t believe all these lunatics that want to have backbreaking snow. i’m more than happy not needing to spend 2 hours shoveling out car spots and fighting with others who try to save their spots with old school CRTs
Well that’s the way it works. People aren’t allowed to be totally happy about the weather, it seems.
There’s maybe one week in spring that’s the perfect weather 👌🏻
I am getting so I almost miss it. Back in the 2014-2015 disaster, I was commuting from Athol to Waltham and living in a 100 year old house with oil heat.
Now I work remotely, live in the middle of the woods, I have wood heat, own a snow plow and snowblower. Now that I'm actually setup to deal with snow, and don't have to fight with on-street parking anymore, now all we get is a few weeks of heavy wet slush.
I mean that’s great and all but what about spring? I feel like it goes from 30 degree days to 85 degree days. Why can’t we have a few weeks of perfect 68-70 degree weather anymore?!
I am back living in the same neighborhood I lived in during the Blizzard of '78 as a little kid. It makes me want another just to spark some memories.
Plus, I do not have to shovel snow anymore so bring it on. I would rather deal with the cold over heat and humidity too. It is easier to get warm than to cool off. No gnats and mosquitoes during the winter is also a plus.
The thing about the storm of 78 is that we already had over a foot on the ground. The day of the storm was the day that my great grandfather was being buried. They had the funeral but had to delay the burial.
I can't stand snow. I love this heat (to me, it's not even hot yet??) BUT for the planet's sake, we need these kinds of winters again. It's depressing every year not getting that big snowstorm anymore.
I'd rather have snow than heat any day. I can add layers but I can't really remove them.
Hell I miss the days when we would get Noreasters and it be an actual snow storm not the disappointing dustings that are unnecessarily hyped up. 🙄
I actually got snow like this in Shelburne falls back in the second week of march, 2023
We didn’t have internet for a week and we only had power because of our automatic generator, it was amazing
I don't like humidity, but I also don't like massive amounts of snow.
A lot of y'all either don't do your own snow removal or are sadomasochists and enjoy punishing yourselves by removing snow.
Either way, wtf?
When was the last time we got snow like that. I fuckng wish
2015. Spent a weekend shoveling myself out. I would take that in a second. Love the snow.
winter is only fun when there's snow. all the grey cold rain we've been getting recently is the worst. this is new england, not england.
It really is a punch in the gut getting constant dead gray rain rather than a quiet snow.
Snowmageddon was awesome. The local media kept saying people were getting cabin fever but me and my family were fine!
I remember driving through Allston down a road they had not shut down that had a bunch of plows and earth movers clearing the road all at once. Felt like driving through a video game

I ran out of space to put the snow with a damn snowblower
I'll take a snowstorm over hit and humid weather any day. I get super excited for big snow storms
I don’t need a reminder, I’ve been dreaming of it. I wanna be curled up on my sofa with a blanket and a warm drink. Summer is just bugs, sweat, humidity and overall yuck. Give me that cool crisp winter air any day.
We barely even get cool thunderstorms anymore
YES YES YES YES I moved here from the south two years ago and was excited to spend all winter snuggled up and snowed in. Then... two nothing winters in a row.
We haven't had a real winter here since 2015, and I honestly don't know if we'll see a solid one again any time soon, but gods I hope so
Some days I feel like the only New Englander who actually likes snow
I love it and hate that winters are becoming so mild 🥲
It really is depressing. No snow for the holidays really kills the magic of the season
Wouldn't live here if I didn't. I cherish the four seasons.
I like the snow when I don't have to shovel it.
Totally agree. A friend of mine has a long ass driveway and when we had that year (2015 i think), where we got slammed by multiple foot plus storms, his driveway looked like an ice canyon. I did not envy him that year.

2015 had to cancel a trip, needed to stay home to dig out of the every other day deposit of a foot.
I love the snow too, not seeing it in the winter anymore feels awful and is really not good for the ecosystem's health
As long as I have a snowblower and an iced coffee I don’t mind the snow.
I love snow and would happily take the snow over the heat
It's the 4 pm sunsets, the all day grey gloomy landscape and the snow stops looking pretty as soon as it stops. If I didn't have to deal with the snow I'd enjoy it more, but wintertime is depression central from lack of sunlight.
There are hundreds of us. Literally, hundreds.
Right there with you.
That's because there's less and less actual New Englanders left as they're driven out of the area due to absurd COL.
Really? Because the majority of Redditors on these subs love the winter
For real. I love winter and always want blizzards to hit.
Nope. I'm so sad we never get any snow anymore.
I like snow when I don't have to plow it.
Give me the snow. This humidity is disgusting.
"I like my humidity where I can see it. Frozen on the ground!
I’m dying for this weather back. You can always warm up but you can’t cool yourself down.
I prefer the cold too. 😭
I prefer rainy, fall weather
It’s cozy inside or nice for a walk or sports. Perfect.
Fall is my favorite season. I work outside so I don’t like the rain. But everything else is great.
You're not wrong about layering, but I've never fallen and broken a bone on heat. Ice/snow has kicked my ass several times.
Snow if cool ice can suck it
No thanks. I *hate* when the sun goes down at 4:30.
God knew winter would be too powerful with 9pm sunsets.
I was joking with my buddy the other day on a hike that if this were back in December, we'd be getting the headlamps ready (it was 2:30 pm).
I hate when it comes up at 4:30.
This is also true.
That’s the worst part of winter. We go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. It is miserable.
As a person who is literally freezing all the time, no, I can’t. I can wear sweaters, but I can’t make my face warmer 😭 we get 2 hot months out of 12 and I’m going to enjoy every minute of it.
Hey you’re not wrong, we’re all “wired” a little different from one another.
Drink more water.
I've used my snowblower once in like 2 years. Don't tease me with promises of snow and it's been like 4 years since I've used my snow shoes.
I’d way rather this than 85 muggy and raining sideways
We haven’t had this much snow in a decade.
Give me this please
Give me a 20* blizzard over a 90* high humidity day any time!
Alt +0176 for the ° symbol
On macOS, hold Option + 0 On iOS, long press the number 0
Thanks

Fuck global warming, I want my snow back
Jokes on you, I've never stopped staying we need to keep our winters
I can't wait for winter! It's my favorite season.
yea NOPE. Give me the fall/winter weather ANY day over the heat. I will continue to complain about heat.
My kids are 8 and 10. We were looking at their pics growing up and they noticed that we don’t get snow in Boston anymore and how real climate change is.

Nah fuck winter
right? i can’t believe all these lunatics that want to have backbreaking snow. i’m more than happy not needing to spend 2 hours shoveling out car spots and fighting with others who try to save their spots with old school CRTs
Working in snow removal, please come back winter!!!!
Uh - you should be worried that we don’t get normal winter temperatures and snow- and its still hot AF- remember that when you go to the polls!!!
It’s not 1995 anymore
Long as the inside is air conditioned I don't mind the heat or humidity. But I'm also a fan of all the seasons minus the lack of sunlight in winter.
Well that’s the way it works. People aren’t allowed to be totally happy about the weather, it seems. There’s maybe one week in spring that’s the perfect weather 👌🏻
This winter is gonna be the one. I feel it (Note that I said that last winter and the one before too)
i miss having to wear snowpants to walk around outside
Winter isn't really like this anymore in many areas.
I am getting so I almost miss it. Back in the 2014-2015 disaster, I was commuting from Athol to Waltham and living in a 100 year old house with oil heat. I’ll take cool and dry all year. If October could be all year long, that would be great.
Chemtrails keep the snow away
Make Winter Great Again!
Climate change has made snow like that a memory
Lol
I mean that’s great and all but what about spring? I feel like it goes from 30 degree days to 85 degree days. Why can’t we have a few weeks of perfect 68-70 degree weather anymore?!

We don’t get those winters anymore. Just rain.
I can't stand snow. I love this heat (to me, it's not even hot yet??) BUT for the planet's sake, we need these kinds of winters again. It's depressing every year not getting that big snowstorm anymore.
Id rather have this than temperatures over 75
I will continue to complain about the heat until the day comes that I can remove humidity from my life with a shovel.
bring it back i want snow!
No. I'm too old to shovel.
I say there’s three types of people who want that much snow. Plow drivers, people who don’t have to shovel, and sociopaths.
Seriously! Like why would you WANT to have to remove THAT much snow? You have to be a nutjob.
I don't think we'll ever get them back. Makes me sad.
Winter can go eat a dick. You don’t have to shovel rain.
I really do miss the snow.
Fuck winter
I'm all about the ski bum life, so...
Extreme winters and extreme summers both suck and I'll complain about both.
Jokes on u we got no snow over in southshore last year, just sleet
I'd rather have snow than heat any day. I can add layers but I can't really remove them. Hell I miss the days when we would get Noreasters and it be an actual snow storm not the disappointing dustings that are unnecessarily hyped up. 🙄
The weather is like, I’ll show these mf’ers! You ain’t seen the real Mass Hole yet!!!
I actually got snow like this in Shelburne falls back in the second week of march, 2023 We didn’t have internet for a week and we only had power because of our automatic generator, it was amazing
Oh the beautiful beautiful snow
I’d much rather this over 100% humidity any day
I don’t mind the snow; I just hate the short, dark days.
Personally I prefer cold and snow over heat.
I can put more clothes on I can't take more clothes off. I'm not looking forward to next week.
I prefer the cold than the heat
Siberia for 6 months, Arrakis for the other 6
i like eggs
i like the winter, love the fall i can’t wait
No, fuck that. Mild winters all day!
I can only remember a handful of days that we actually had snow on the ground this past winter. And it wasn’t even crazy as years passed. So weird lol
I don't like humidity, but I also don't like massive amounts of snow. A lot of y'all either don't do your own snow removal or are sadomasochists and enjoy punishing yourselves by removing snow. Either way, wtf?
no, just Forever Fall!!
I can put on more clothes if I'm cold. I can only get so naked when it's too hot.
Nah I’ll take the heat over the cold any day, I’d move to San Diego if it wasn’t so expensive
Lol did an oil company post this??
Snowing here in Montana tomorrow:)
No thanks, the winter is the worst part of living here.
I'm so happy to see the number of people here that love the snow. Usually all I hear is people bitching.
El Niño likely over and La Niña should bring us some nice snow this upcoming winter
I’ll take it
[:(](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwjbv7ejnOOGAxV-FVkFHS24B7oQFnoECAQQBQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.wbur.org%2Fnews%2F2024%2F01%2F25%2Fnew-england-snowpack-decline-disappearing-receeding&usg=AOvVaw0ydVoP-6Z4zm9n0eQr8kMH&opi=89978449)
Pure bliss
I'd rather sweat than shiver.
I'd rather the heat. Drink enough water and your good. Plus there ain't shit to do in the winters
I will slap them silly if I hear anyone saying they want winter back
Summers used to be nice before it became humid every day
What heat? What summer?
I would take that everyday.
I don't need 3 ft of snow, but I would gladly have snow over heat and humidity.
The place I live doesn't get much snow, **if any.** So I'm ready for a bar fight as I say **5ft or more snow is welcome.**
What heat?
This is what my office feels like every day! I hate air conditioning 😔
I have found my people, just wish one of was a neighbor. I despise summer.
I make that trade.
fuck I miss that
I'll take winter cold over summer heat ANY day
That goes for me, too. 🥶 > 🥵
I genuinely wish those snow storms. Please next winter!
It ain’t even that hot
