Sure. We know that there are people with more power, wealth and social connectivity. I must also acknowledge skill and attitude superiority when I see it and aspire to become like that.
Just don’t go to r/skateboarding and state your pronouns or post a video as a trans person. One of the most transphobic communities on here. I had to unsubscribe because every week I’d see anti-LgBT stuff that would get you an instant perma-ban on any other sports subreddit.
I can only speak for myself, when I visited a friend we often went to the skate park near his house to smoke and watch the skaters.
They always were as I described, but I can only speak from my experience :)
Sad to hear, tho. Was always heartwarming to see teenagers helping children to learn the basics.
Yeah, I agree. I quit baseball and basketball in high school and started going to punk shows because I found jocks to be dickheads and skater-types to be more accepting and friendly.
It’s just wild to me how bad that subreddit is. Some trans or nb person will post a video with their pronouns in the title so they don’t get misgendered and 90% of the comments will be “fuck your pronouns” or “I bet you enter competitions as the wrong gender to win easier”.
This was a lovely exhibit of "no harm, no foul".
Nobody got hurt, it didn't effect anyone's day. Sure the kid could pay a bit of attention but I'm willing to bet this is a better lesson learned, rather than getting yelled at.
There are very few things in your daily life that can't be fixed with some patience and understanding.
So Gordon Ramsey was always nice in Britain but became angry for USA market. So we can imagine a reverse situation where Bob Ross decides to put on a show for foreign market and then people are surprised when they hear he was nice.
I just thought he was a proper cunt (using his parlance) but then he started the kids cooking show. I was like who in the fuck voluntarily puts their kid near this guy.
Nicest dude ever to kids. Like genuinely sweet, builds their confidence, comforts their anxieties, the whole shit.
So now I'm just like "oh he's a nice dude but a good actor."
Kitchen Nightmares in the U.S. was a manufactured shit show for drama. Kitchen Nightmares in its original format in the U.K. was a completely different show. Sure, he got into some dust ups with some of the kitchen staff, but you could tell it was more realistic, and they didn't focus on the drama nearly as much. It was about fixing the restaurant first and foremost. In that show, you could see his genuine concern for people more.
I've also seen videos where his kids are wiseasses and roast him and he always takes it in stride. With celebrities I'm aware it could all be an act and kind of assume they're all psychopaths but it did seem genuine.
I have seen that, super wholesome.
I feel like he would personally benefit (like in his soul) doing work with The World Central Kitchen.
And then by extension tens of thousands of people worldwide would experience his talents personally.
I saw excerpts of Ramsay being a mean spirited contemptuous prick and decided I would opt out of him (like I've opted out of all reality tv). But then COVID hit and I got hooked on his British version of restaurant rehab on YouTube and discovered he is not, in fact a mean spirited contemptuous prick.
Actually, bob ross hates yelling. When he was a drill Sergeant in the army, he had to yell so much that he decided to never yell at anyone again. He really was just a super nice guy.
First, take a little Titanium White and load up a fan brush like this. Then let’s make a skateboarder, and maybe we give him a little friend right there.
Once i saw a japanese guy pull up to the skatepark in a tuxedo. He proceeded to fucking absolutely destroy every ramp and obstacle, and to this day was the most impressive skateboarding I've seen in person.
I just watched a Shaun White documentary on the plane. I guess when he was a kid (8 years old I think?) he did a skateboard event where he shared a half pipe with Bob Burnqvist who was older and much bigger. It was a very dumb thing to do. They collided and Shaun got fucked up.
This is only tangentially related to the post, but it reminded me of that and I felt like sharing.
Most of you don’t understand/appreciate how difficult it is to hold another person, ride up a transition, revert, then set another person down in a specific spot.
It would vertically and horizontally offset your center of gravity and most skaters would spin out of control at the revert (kick turn or turning around) on the transition (ramp) and end up crashing
I'm competant enough on ramps and wouldn't trust myself doing a kick turn while holding a kid haha. This in addition to the flawless front board is difficult in ways most non skaters can't understand.
> I'm competant enough on ramps and wouldn't trust myself doing a kick turn while holding a kid haha.
Lol I’ve skated for 24 years and wouldn’t risk it.
It’s funny because the kid was clearly bailing out just fine before being scooped up.
Jokes aside, he really is. He just did a story recently where he literally crossed into the US through the Río and got caught immediately. Unparalleled reporting.
I did something similar on a ski slope many years ago. My choice was take a fall and wipe out the little family, or temporarily "kidnap" the kid.
The parents were shocked, but the kid thought it was really fun! 😅

Had a moment like this once. I was the kid.
Saw the guy coming from my side at the last second, and had just enough time to think “ah crap this is gonna hurt.” I remember squeezing my eyes and waiting for him to hit me, and then feeling him lift me off of my skateboard and being totally confused for a moment.
I was so sure that I was about to get knocked on my ass that I didn’t even consider the fact that he might stop or try to catch me or something.
I don’t skateboard anymore, but it’s one of the best memories from my childhood. People like this, and the guy from my own experience, these are the people we need more of in life.
Wonderful. I remember skiing a ravine and running into a small kid on a very steep edge. I grabbed the kid and continued skiing the ravine until the slope got milder. I put the kid down and he looks up at me and says "thanks mister".
This actually happened to me one time on ice skates, many years ago. I am not a good skater, so when a little kid zipped in front of me and I was about to lay them flat, I picked them up instead and put them down at the rail, apologizing, "Sorry. I couldn't turn in time."
Dude has about the best attitude you can have. Good job, buddy.

Kid was just like, "OK, I guess *we're* skating now." Probably more disoriented because he expected to get knocked on his ass, not taken for a spin.
🎶I can show you the paaaaark, Steel, concrete, and gnaaaarly🎶
Kid did a pretty good job sticking the landing too. The bit when they embrace kind of reminds me of figure skating for some reason.
just took it in ~~st~~ride
I think they just created the next Olympic event -- pairs skateboarding.
I’d be cool with it too if the other option was eating asphalt
Right ? I concede; he deserves more pussy than I do.
I admire your bravery
Sure. We know that there are people with more power, wealth and social connectivity. I must also acknowledge skill and attitude superiority when I see it and aspire to become like that.
You step the bright path of the righteous, my brother. The ego has no power in your realm.
I wish that was true but I do have moments of clarity. My brother I too wish you a happy weekday, full of cheer and energy.
I love both of you. Thank you, u/Pirate_LongJohnson and u/NBplaybud22 for allowing us to witness such strength and wisdom and camaraderie today
And we love you pal. Truly a moment of enlightenment and inspiration here today.
May we all share a conclave of brotherhood and positivity.

Skater are usually that chill and supportive with younger skater. It’s a really welcoming and supportive community.

Usually pretty chill in the skate park. Same with most good surf breaks. Riding a board is good for the soul.

“There are no mistakes, just happy accidents.” - Bob Ross. Take my upvote.
i've heard there are unreleased tapes where he's like "YOU FUCKED UP THE TREE....WHY DO YOU ALWAYS FUCK UP THE TREE....YOU FUCK UP EVERYTHING!!!"
So Gordon Ramsey was always nice in Britain but became angry for USA market. So we can imagine a reverse situation where Bob Ross decides to put on a show for foreign market and then people are surprised when they hear he was nice.
Gordon ramsey is the nicest person. They make him look like an asshole for drama sake. We love drama in the u.s. for some dumbass reason.
I just thought he was a proper cunt (using his parlance) but then he started the kids cooking show. I was like who in the fuck voluntarily puts their kid near this guy. Nicest dude ever to kids. Or not a nice dude and a good actor?
To the degree with which I've observed would land him squarely in sociopath territory, if true.
I'm personally just not cool with verbal abuse
Same. Kitchen nightmares looked horrible to be on.
Well he did get all his anger out when he was a drill instructor.
Actually, bob ross hates yelling. When he was a drill Sergeant in the army, he had to yell so much that he decided to never yell at anyone again. He really was just a super nice guy.
Amazing 😂 Bust'Em Up Bobby at it again
A friend and I always thought that would be a hilarious SNL skit where he goes all 80’s rocker on his staff and sound stage.
With that Mustache…. Thats: General Thaddeus Ross
I was gonna say Weird Al
Unfortunately my mind went to TJ Miller. This might be the nicest thing he never did.
He looks more like the guy who made Gordon Ramsey cry
First, take a little Titanium White and load up a fan brush like this. Then let’s make a skateboarder, and maybe we give him a little friend right there.
That guy better be careful. He get any smoother than that and reality won't be able to render him properly.
underrated
Reality can’t handle that much polygons needed to render him properly(
This happened to me when I was young except the older guy plowed me over and I got knocked out cold for a few seconds.
Ah yes the early skatepark days
Didn’t need to make me laugh like that
"Oops I've been kidnapped. Oh he released me. He must have realized my parents are poor"
Never seen a posh bloke skating...
Southern California is full of em, but they all have the skateboarding equivalent of Aggro baseball dads
Thought that said "Polish" and I was like "yeah we just buy the skateboard and get mad at it when it doesn't kick flip"
Idk if I would call him "posh" but Tony Hawk grew up in Torrey Pines (rich suburb of San Diego)
Once i saw a japanese guy pull up to the skatepark in a tuxedo. He proceeded to fucking absolutely destroy every ramp and obstacle, and to this day was the most impressive skateboarding I've seen in person.
Smooth.
r/DadReflexes
This video so old the kid has 25 or more years now
The kid went to prison?
Lmao commenter is probably a native Spanish speaker
Or German. They also say it like that. Edit: this is false.
or french

Watched it live, it was insane to see. Now I feel super old and my back hurts.
I’m old. I saw it live on the xgames
Skating 2 up is scary as fuck lmao.
Good save, dude!
For a sec, I thought he was Weird Al with short hair.
Even his mistakes are cool.
i want to be him when i grow up
I’d go home after that or, maybe watch the sunset. I’d have done enough and would just relish the evening
Skaters doing skater things. Love my community!!!!
Smoothest move ever
180 kidflip
Skater etiquette is my absolute favorite part of skateparks. Faith in humanity restored.

That Channel 5 guy is the best
Jokes aside, he really is. He just did a story recently where he literally crossed into the US through the Río and got caught immediately. Unparalleled reporting.
90s dad energy right there
One of the coolest skate tricks ever and it's not even technically difficult
Hehehe the kids legs flying out when they turn on the ramp is my favourite part hehe
lol...that kid was thinking they got kidnapped for a second
Catch and release
The intro of a character in any 90's family sitcom
The more I see this video the more I think he's got a child of his own
I did something similar on a ski slope many years ago. My choice was take a fall and wipe out the little family, or temporarily "kidnap" the kid. The parents were shocked, but the kid thought it was really fun! 😅
Just wild that this was pulled off abs no wipe-outs. Happy Gilmore
Weird Al is such a good guy
bro kidnapped a child for 5 secs
Dude just said f*ck falling i'll just safe the both of us 😂👌
And that right there probably solidified that kids love for skateboarding and it's community. Good shit.

Damn that was smooth the whole thing
It is mathematically impossible to handle that situation any better.

That was cool, gotta watch over the lil groms for they are the ones to continue to carry the torch getting more extreme every year.

The kid was like "Was that Jesus?"
That man’s living the life
I rewatch this every time. Just a capsulated great moment.
Always abduct the kid in this situation
Looping this one! His smile….
That was so badass and chill 😆
Why does this video make me feel like I'm back in the 90s/ early 2000's? Such an amazing good feeling vibe
This will be online when that kid tells the story to his grandkids showing off on their hoverboards……
Wonderful. I remember skiing a ravine and running into a small kid on a very steep edge. I grabbed the kid and continued skiing the ravine until the slope got milder. I put the kid down and he looks up at me and says "thanks mister".
Repost this a few more times
Still the first time I’ve ever seen it, and its the most wholesome thing I have seen on the sub in a while.
Yeah, I wouldn’t mind seeing it again as a repost in the future
I've seen it many times but for me it doesn't get old!
Always someone who has to be needlessly bitter

What's Todd Howard doing in a skate park? Get back to work!
Imagine being the single mom of that kid. Might be the single smoothest thing I've seen.
Wholesome af

Just havin some fun. Nice.
r/MadeMeSmile
Damn weird Al can really shred.
cute!
This is how you skatepark.
Did his score combo keep going till he placed the kid back on his board? Should’ve done a manual for the extra modifier.
Danny Green from the 80s.
Love this vid every time I see it
Ive seen shorts of this guy so many times but I have no idea who he is
Didn't I see the mom of that kid either try or actually press charges a while ago?
It's tony hank
I'd fall in love.
That was the best thing I've seen this week.
Decent.
mr steal yo kid
All gas, no breaks
Guys a seasoned veteran... he's probably had to throw hands with some of the parents that don't teach their kids to pay attention 👏👏👏👏👏🫡
Skaters tend to be very chill unless you really fuck around.
Is that Weird Al?
Amazing focus
Doing a front side kick turn holding a kid is somewhat impressive honestly. Lol
Hey that's one of my friend ahah
I didn't know Al was skating
That’s actually really cute.
I thought that was Todd Howard at first
‘Nicely done’
Todd Howard: Did you play Starfield? Kid: Todd Howard: lol
Damn I wish I could learn how to be so happy in life, what an easy going happy dude!
Kid was just stunned.
Hey mom said today it was my turn to repost this
