solax5

You had me at feta.

beeswax999

If you enjoyed it, all good. For me, I want whole eggs and no single-serving, single-use plastic, if at all possible.

BuySignificant522

when you realize how easy and delicious it is to make your own hummus, you won’t need to buy the little packages OP! Just a can of chickpeas, some tahini, garlic, lemon juice, and EVOO. Nice dash of paprika on top for presentation and voila!

cursh14

Idk I make most every meal from scratch but I have attempted hummus many times at home... And it is always pretty shit.

BuySignificant522

Do you use a food processor or are you mixing it by hand? I think you need to mix it really well to give it a pleasant texture

istara

I’ve made my own and it simply is not as good as an amazing brand I can get from the shops (Pilpel) and it is also a huge hassle.

donairhistorian

I prefer to buy hummus too. But I would never buy single serve plastic cups!

rocksolidostrich

11/10 Would eat.

bbbbbbbbbbbbpillows

That looks so good! 10/10 I want that for breakfast I'd make some right now but it's the middle of the night and I don't have the veggies for it 😂

spottie_ottie

Make your own hummus, it's easy! That looks like a perfect super low calorie meal. I would happily eat that

nerdzen

Well now I’m hungry 😬

transformedxian

I'd eat the whole egg. More iron and protein, and the fat isn't significant over against all the healthy, high fiber, naturally low-fat foods that make up the MD. I went from eating two eggs a month to eating 2-4 a week. Lost unhealthy cholesterol and weight.

Ashamed-Ideal-8489

#1 in my book! May have to buy this today!

WaitingitOut000

Looks amazing. And yes, hummus is super easy to make and absolutely delicious homemade. I eat the whole egg too.

Ok-Dependent7444

Use the whole egg, unless you're avoiding carbs for some reason? Can't be carbs as you've got toast. Otherwise it looks delicious and I'm jealous as hell!

Remote_Environment76

Egg yolks have no carbs. They are mostly fats and protein. The egg white is all protein.

Ok-Dependent7444

How come I see people on low carb diets avoiding yolks?

Mediocre-Ad4735

Probably bc they’re calorie counting and the yolk counts for most of the calories in eggs

Ok-Dependent7444

Ah got it. Thank you

goblin_princess_

Probably because they are not well informed. This is one of the last things someone should do in low carb.

HedgeFlounder

More likely they’re avoiding the extra calories or saturated fat which is totally reasonable. Nothing wrong with yolks in moderation but nothing wrong with just eating the whites either.

donairhistorian

I typically use one whole egg and the rest whites. Best of both worlds!

GatorOnTheLawn

Looks great! (I only eat egg whites, too, because it’s better for your kidneys.) Helpful hint that you may not care about: if you put it on a smaller plate, like a salad plate, it will look more appealing. But overall, this makes me hungry! :)

cursh14

To clarify, egg yolks can be an issue for people with kidney disease but they do not cause any issue with kidneys. So, if you are avoiding them because you think it will cause kidney disease, fear not. If you have CKD, carry on. It is all about phosphorus and your ability to process it. Normal healthy kidneys do not have an issue.

GatorOnTheLawn

It’s about animal protein. Too much animal protein, which most Americans do eat, is bad for your kidneys. That’s part of why the Mediterranean diet is better for you. But I look at some of the things posted here, and a lot of people are still eating way too much animal protein. “Normal, healthy kidney” become sick kidneys if you eat too much protein. And it’s not reversible. Edit: not sure why every person here needs to have an opinion about what I eat or don’t eat and why. I wasn’t talking to anyone other than the OP. So many little kids on here who seem to think they need to have an opinion on everything even though they have only a vague notion of what’s being talked about. I prefer to get my information from my nephrologist, rather than a bunch of barely/out-of-high-school kids who really, really need to touch grass. Like literally - put your phones down and go live life in the real world. But here’s a hint: just because you’ve attended one semester of college doesn’t mean you are smarter than everyone else. Come talk to us after you’ve lived in the real world a few decades.

HedgeFlounder

If your goal is to avoid animal protein then eating egg whites is not better. Egg whites are almost entirely animal protein with the yolk having more fat than protein.

donairhistorian

Nobody cares what you eat. You are being downvoted because the science does not support what you are saying. There is no evidence that high protein diets are bad for healthy kidneys.
