I mean i use shift to crouch in team fortress 2. It’s got no sprint and you use crouch a lot for rocket jumping, crouch jumping, etc so it isn’t to far fetched to move it to a key that is a bit less of a stretch to make it easier on your pinky

But it really doesn't. Whenever I get a new Minecraft setup through forge I make sure to go in and switch Shift and CTRL, I hate it.

I use shift because I’ve played a lot of movement shooters and I would slide a lot, back then I had small hands so it was easier to use shift and toggle sprint with control. Now I still use it in COD and get roasted for it whenever I tell anyone, why do they care?

C for croutch might be old, but it makes sense. It's a classic setup. Control is newer, roles well with shift as sprint. Practical. But shift as croutch? What? Who does that? Honestly, any game where that's the default I probably changed it and forgot.

R6 Siege has ctrl as prone, c as crouch and shift as sprint. Space bar is for vaulting stuff like windows. Personally, I like siege controls.

Im wierd, I have 2 buttons on the left side of my mouse and I just use the bottom one to crouch, very comfortable

I use CTRL and C for crouching, crtrl quick crouches during battle, and C one tap to slide and not have hold crouch. Also noticed that when you have "tap to crouch" you can't super jump off zip lines (or at least I couldn't).
