all **4749 pounds** of it.
Mercedes quoted the last sedan at 3929 lbs.
Owners with the 4.0 cars - you only need to add 61 horsepower to your 4.0 V8 to match the power to weight ratio of the new car.
In addition to that, you only get that peak HP number in certain scenarios in the new car. At times it could be as little as the max output of the engine minus the electric motors.
They handle like a fucking dog. The chassis just falls apart in turns. The interior is a joke compared to the last one. What the actual fuck were Mercedes thinking? This is some shit genesis or some shit would do, not Mercedes. The car company with the most heritage and pedigree that pride themselves on their quality and design. This new shit is lazy and insulting.
Iām talking about the design language. Sure genesis gets shinier/better looking each gen. And sure. If you look at the reliability reviews they pay for, they look good. They are notoriously bad in the real world however, particularly mechanically and electrically. This is what Iām getting at, Mercedes has just decided theyāre going to go after the masses who canāt tell the difference and just will pay for the badge.
Itās still a FWD platform. The engine is 90Ā° installed wrong for a Mercedes-Benz, and the transmission is sittinā up next to it. If I wanted a car built like that, Iād get an Acura.
Thanks for that. I donāt think they are terrible cars by any means. Although my experience with them is limited, but for what I do know, they represent all of the reasons I buy Mercedes-Benz cars. In the sense they are what I avoid. There are many choices in front wheel drive (read: transverseā¦ yeah yeah, AWDā¦.) cars, but no so many in a traditional longitudinal rear-wheel drive (yeah, yeah, AWD) chassis offerings.
Folks argue night and day about what a ārealā AMG is. Thatās silliness as AMG, in the ārealā sense is an aftermarket tuner. Bolt on stuff. Therefore, someone putting AMG wheels on a C300 may be more āreal AMGā than a mass marketed, dealer bought. C63 from certain perspectives. So, that aside, I donāt consider CLA, A, GLA, GLB vehicles to really be proper Mercedes-Benz products. They are branded as such but they carry none of the DNA, none of the pedigree. They are not what I want in a Mercedes-Benz.
Yeah exactly. It is more Benz than not, still has the interior amenities you expect and love. Real AMG used to be a simple distinction if you have been with the brand long enough. Hand built one man one engine, thatās it. They expanded the line in the 2010s to compete with the m lites BMW had success with. Regardless of everything, it is infinitely more enjoyable than even an A4 which is a class above it. I showed my friend who drives an M3 Competition and we was seriously surprised at the performance. Considering how people talk about it, I can see why.
Iād enjoy taking a CLA on a track to really push one and see how real world my bias is. Not sure how I could arrange that as I donāt have one, and Iāve prevented friends from buying them LOL. But it would be fun to do. Iāve tracked most all of my MBs at one point or another, with exception to the new GLE. An ML I had I did take on a pretty vigorous off road weekend. That was a hoot.
All of this being said. I must add. I would never ever buy the non amg version of this car and I agree the GLB GLA and B class should not exist, as we should not have the A class in America. The A class makes sense in Europe. I think CLA 35 and 45 in the current chassis could have been an AMG only product like the 4 door it resembles so closely.
Chassis balance, smoother drive, a bias towards oversteer vs inferior understeerā¦ things which have been improved a lot over the decades, but all the same fall short of why a ātraditionalā longitudinal engine with transmission behind it, are the layouts for the nicest of cars. FWD is far lest expensive to build for the manufacturer. At best, the benefit for the consumer is āsnowā performance, thatās what they sell anyhow.
Have you looked into the cla 45? It can put 50% of power to the back. It is a front wheel drive bias, but it is a true awd 4 matic. And it can put 100% of that 50% to each wheel
Pretty sure this is a karma farm bot, Iāve seen dozens of these posts and most of them attempt to gain karma and then they archive the posts after it dies down and repeat the process
āHereās a controversial topic weāve all seen before, letās argue about it in a new post because I want karma.ā (which doesnāt even matter anymore)
The performance and F1 tech is cool, but thatās pretty much it. You know you fucked up when youāve created a very potent car but people arenāt buying it
But itās not actual performance. Itās not. Straight line speed isnāt performance. Its lap times are only quick because of it. I guarantee you it loses time on corner entry and average corner speed to the old car. Which means, on the road, it will handle like a dog in comparison. Iām so sick of straight line speed being considered as an objective bonus no matter what. Itās just not. Otherwise we would all be driving electric trash by now.
I hope this is an MB employee posting this.
And I sincerely hope HR downvotes.
Your early cars were darling. Amazing.
Beautiful and reliable.
They are presently lumps of ātechā that doesnāt function, along with the afterthought of a car attached.
Please do better.
Seriously though. I thought this was a joke. Looks like a Toyota Camry from the backā¦
All that money for what? Looks like they just pieced it together..
Anything Mercedes after 2017-2018 is a joke.
Built like crap but charge that premium price tag
V8 didn't make sense, this is why we loved it, this one should have been a "V6 Turbo Hybride", you know, like an F1 car, and people would have accepted it more
Bro. The interior design is by far the most insulting part of the entire car. It isnāt luxury. Itās Tesla millennial tech slave pandering trash. I have no idea how this new horseshit design language got approved at a company like Mercedes. Exterior is nice, which is the saddest part. Rear quarter proportions are objectively strange however. Rear haunch is also a bit āfriendlyā
It seems boring without that iconic V8, competitors offer more exciting products. Plus it's heavy as shit. Sales numbers talk and bullshit walks. Mercedes took the L with this one.
- 670Hp (only with battery charged)
- Optional carbon ceramics (Front only)
- Extended front fender (Rear arches are same as w206 c180)
- Efficient engine (10-12L/100Km or 23-19mpg)
- Starts at 120k š¤”
This is the best thing that could have ever happened to BMW.
Thatās why I go back and forth between brands.
Mercedes built tanks up until the mid 2010ās. BMW had reliability issues in that era..
Got me a 2013 S550 & my next car is going to be a 340i. Maybe M but if not then oh wellā¦ the new Mercedes seem cheaply built
Shouldāve used a 6 cylinder since theyāre using their F1 branding like crazy with this car. But yea Iāll take the M3 or RS5 over this any damn day
great and absolute weapon on and off the track. but id never buy it cuz it doesnt have v8 in it which AMG is known for the most. i6 biturbo with 4ws and 4wd wouldve been MUCH better decision but hey, merc does what they want not what customers want.
If you really like the body work and so on.
Go for the 43.
Otherwise, hell nah. It is very amazing from the technical side (I would recommend watching JP-Perfomance [german automotive YTber] recently uploaded video about it. Maybe it has English subtitles... There, he is discussing the car with the head of engineering of this car, I guess)
Honestly, itās a great car but it feels so artificial because of its weird engine layout and terrible engine sounds that are played through the speakers. I would have one but would rather have the previous gen
I wonder how fast the chain will snap on this one. I wonder what the engineers or executives who forced them to engineer a system where the car drives fully electric till insufficient charge and theeeen only fires up the engine (with zero oil pressure beforehand) while you re e.g. blasting down the highway. Truly a masterpiece
all **4749 pounds** of it. Mercedes quoted the last sedan at 3929 lbs. Owners with the 4.0 cars - you only need to add 61 horsepower to your 4.0 V8 to match the power to weight ratio of the new car.
Are they really that much? Wow! I guess I lost the crown of being the heaviest at 4,274 then.
And you get an overworked rice sounding POS
In addition to that, you only get that peak HP number in certain scenarios in the new car. At times it could be as little as the max output of the engine minus the electric motors.
šššš

lol genesis gets better every generation, Mercedes doesnātĀ

If only it had better sounding engine š
Thatās true! Miss the V8 š„²
If only it had a real engine;)
Might just be me but it sounds relatively decent for a four banger but itās extremely disappointing with the c63 name
š¤
No. The interior is still an insult. It handles like shit because of its weight.
At this point why not save yourself some money and get a cla45s?
CLA even looks better.
Because itās a fucking front wheel drive platform. Iād take a 3 cylinder C over it.
Take a 4matic then?
Itās still front wheel drive based
Itās still a FWD platform. The engine is 90Ā° installed wrong for a Mercedes-Benz, and the transmission is sittinā up next to it. If I wanted a car built like that, Iād get an Acura.
I have a CLA35. It actually is not bad at all. However, itās not typically what one expects from a Benz. Would not recommend or buy again.
Thanks for that. I donāt think they are terrible cars by any means. Although my experience with them is limited, but for what I do know, they represent all of the reasons I buy Mercedes-Benz cars. Are you one of those who believe whenever a manufacturer advertises AWD itās actually AWD?
Serious question, what exactly makes a rear wheel drive that much better than a front wheel drive?
Chassis balance, smoother drive, a bias towards oversteer vs inferior understeerā¦ things which have been improved a lot over the decades, but all the same fall short of why a ātraditionalā longitudinal engine with transmission behind it, are the layouts for the nicest of cars. I am quite familiar with it. That bias makes it a no go for what I like about Mercedes-Benz.
Ah yes the 2000th post asking about the new C63
The 4 times weekly lol
Pretty sure this is a karma farm bot, Iāve seen dozens of these posts and most of them attempt to gain karma and then they archive the posts after it dies down and repeat the process
Could you farm karma, if your post get massively down voted, genuine question?
Iām not an expert but Iād assume not, typically these posts arenāt controversial though so they usually do pretty well
āHereās a controversial topic weāve all seen before, letās argue about it in a new post because I want karma.ā (which doesnāt even matter anymore)
The performance and F1 tech is cool, but thatās pretty much it. You know you fucked up when youāve created a very potent car but people arenāt buying it
F1 tech? Is it really, or some marketing scheme?
E Performance i guess, F1 hybrid technology, it is in GT E Performance but Iām not sure they used it in C class
But itās not actual performance. Itās not. Straight line speed isnāt performance. Its lap times are only quick because of it. I guarantee you it loses time on corner entry and average corner speed to the old car. Which means, on the road, it will handle like a dog in comparison. Well. āEarly carsāā¦ they invented the car. I think up until 2021 the cars were fantastic. The previous generation is incredibly reliable.
V8 didn't make sense, this is why we loved it, this one should have been a "V6 Turbo Hybride", you know, like an F1 car, and people would have accepted it more
Where are the other cylinders
Exterior, Interior, overall design 10/10 Sound, power to weight ratio, engine -1000/10
Bro. The interior design is by far the most insulting part of the entire car. It isnāt luxury. Itās Tesla millennial tech slave pandering trash. Not much to think about. It still isnāt on sale in the US and it is already half way through 2024 model year.
Damn at first I thought this was one of those trd Camrys ! I guess Iāll be scheduling an eye test soon.
Are they ever gonna start selling it?
no
It's not selling (well) in Europe, and American don't lineup to buy 4cyl $100k sport cars
Ew
I want to buy it in an instant once it is available in my country!
It seems boring without that iconic V8, competitors offer more exciting products. Plus it's heavy as shit. Sales numbers talk and bullshit walks. Mercedes took the L with this one.
Aesthetically itās probably my favourite C63, too bad a about the engine, kind of removes the cool factor a lot.
It's a shitter
Is that a 4 banger?
Meh

Put real engine in there (V8) and itās perfect car
No opinions until theyāre available in the U.S. Canāt even build one on the configurator
Thought it was a Camry for half a second
Worse than a brand new Toyota Corolla
I would love this interior with the previous V8
Sounds like the bubble car SpongeBob drives
Alfa Romeo Giulia*
Shouldāve used a 6 cylinder since theyāre using their F1 branding like crazy with this car. But yea Iāll take the M3 or RS5 over this any damn day
The dopeness has no boundsā¦ā¦ā¦.
Trash car g8X better
don't like it personally
great and absolute weapon on and off the track. but id never buy it cuz it doesnt have v8 in it which AMG is known for the most. i6 biturbo with 4ws and 4wd wouldve been MUCH better decision but hey, merc does what they want not what customers want.

This thing will be a nightmare to own out of warranty.
Is it just me or do most of the new taillights look like audi, so plain i hate them
Yep Audi must have finished the back bit.
Thought this was a Camry lmao
Lol me too
I love my c300e so this would be next level. But tbh this should be new c43 and c63 should have v6 hybrid since they can't fit v8.
It seems an Alfa Romeo Giulia :/
I have one and I love it. I am prepared to be crucified on this hill.
Looks like an Infiniti from this view...
Looks like shit IMO and the 4cyl is the cherry on top of the turd cake.
