It’s Greedflation! The companies are reporting record profits, multi-millions of dollar bonuses to CEOs, stock buybacks, giving out investor dividends, and, if you’re John Deere, you’re laying off employees. Capitalism is good, but it sure allows a lot of price gouging. And expecting CEOs to forgo the bonus they were going to buy their second yacht with to raise wages, is expecting a CEO to not be a sociopath. They all are—anybody with normal human empathy would not be able to lay off employees and be able to sleep at night just to line their own pockets.
