This is actually how people can break into button door locks. They find the buttons with oil build up using powder, which then allows them to narrow down the possible combinations and predict your code.
The numbers already scrambled overall on the numpad.
People are going to click different spots on the buttons even if the numbers stayed in the center.
US treasury website for buying bonds etc (Treasurydirect) does this with it's password system. You use a virtual keyboard on the site with the "keys" scrambled.
The most annoying keypad I had at one of the locations had displays on each buttons and would shuffle the numbers each time so you had to press different buttons.
Did this at work to get into the locked gates and the office wanted to know how I knew the pass code lol. "There was only 16 possible combinations so I guessed."
I'm guessing it's a Samsung which has a fingerprint sensor in the screen that doesn't work with a normal protector. And I agree with the comment below you samsung screens are next to indestructible
Yeah, I have a Pixel with the fingerprint reader behind the screen and a screen protector. It works but it doesn't work all that well and sometimes requires multiple attempts.
Motorola uses an ancient optical fingerprint scanner, essentually just a tiny camera under the screen which requires a ton of light to capture your fingerprint (which is why that area of your screen turns bright white when you scan) this works fine through any screen protector. Samsung uses much, bigger, quicker, accurate, and secure ultrasonic sensors that do not need any light, work with wet fingers, and don't require perfect placement like optical sensors do, however they do not work well with screen protectors.
That's what I thought with my old Google pixel 4. I have literally dropped it on solid concrete without a case and had no damage to the phone. The problem was that the screen had scratches all over it. My new phone has a protector and now instead of the screen being scratched the protector is scratched and can be more easily replaced. Some of the scratches are definitely deep enough that they would have scratched my actual screen if I didn't have a protector
I've had my iPhone skid across the concrete and it's not scratched. I just don't believe in screen protectors. Waste of money. The amount of actual protection they offer is trivial
As long as I don't put anything else in the same pocket I put my phone in, my phone never gets scratched. Made it a habit to put any keys or coins in the other pocket.
Yeah, film protectors prevent scratches and don't affect touch screen sensitivity. Tempered glass protectors crack so easily they make it look like they're protecting your phone from equal damage. Since I stopped using the glass ones and switched to film I've dropped my phone a hundred times and no damage. Wasted so much money on glass protectors that cracked within a few weeks while fucking with the sensitivity of the touch screen.
What problem? I'm saving money, my phone works well and has never been damaged.
Are you saying screen protectors only work if you never drop your phone? 😂
It's not a conscious decision to be clumsy. As someone who drops their phone a lot all I'm saying is I have a lot of data on what kind of screen protectors work. Film works, tempered glass is a waste of money.
They give the user the illusion of protection, but in reality the glass (Corning gorilla glass usually) is much much stronger than the protector itself
Depending on how much it's been played, you can't get rid of the impressions, I've cleaned my tablet multiple times with a microfiber and cleaning wipes, and you can still see the marks.
[This](https://d3nan4w00fsv2d.cloudfront.net/PICS_PRODUCT_LARGE/2306568.jpg) works wonders for cleaning phones. They also have tissue paper that doesn't leave residue. It's normally used to clean safety glasses in industrial applications.
I think I'd still choose 99,9% isopropyl alcohol over uvex, since the latter also contains water and tensides ("soap"). Don't know how a (probably not water resistant) tablet would react to that. Better safe than sorry lol
99% isopropyl alcohol will strip the oleophobic coating from your screen in one use. Don't use it. Dilute to around 60% if absolutely necessary, but in reality a damp microfibre cloth or water based baby wipe will be ample.
You're absolutely right. I didn't think of that because I have a screen protector on all my mobile devices...Well, chances are the oleophobic coating on OPs tablet is gone anyway if there are fingerprints/marks they can't remove
Hell even without a microfiber I would be compelled to wipe it down at sight of the first fingerprint. How someone can use a phone this smudged up is beyond me, I'd go crazy!
Tell your dad to watch out for the broken screen protector in the corners. Mine was just like that, and I got a splinter of it in my thumb that severely hampered my life for like 10 months.
Not a chess master, but all this really seems to indicate is that he favours the center and rarely makes it to the back row, which is how 90% of games play out
No it isn’t!!! 409 is damaging to phones as are most household cleaners!!!
Specifically it can rub the “protective oleophobic coating of your phone’s screen right off, not to mention corrode the metal parts of your phone.”
https://badapplerepair.com/how-clean-sanitize-phone/
I wonder if you somehow get the AI to scan these prints, could it be able to simulate recent gameplays ?
AI probably would go for that specific game's date base but that's not what i'm wondering.
My favourite is "parks" and it looks just like this...a square matrix of finger dabs.
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/parks-seasons-logic-game/id774881410
This one. The "parks" get bigger and bigger and eventually you go up to 2 trees per row, column and area. And the logic gets complex..
Really good logic puzzle and all for free. I have a LOT of games by the maker, Andrea Sabbatini.
This reminds me of a game we used to play when i was in boarding school “see how long you can go without changing the bed sheets “
And your underwear.
And my axe.
And my bow.
And my spear
WHAT?!
And your brother
Ha, hopefully it was never as long as my dad's phone cleaning schedule
my phone gets cleaned via the leg of my jeans when it gets oil or grease or something on it — what else do you need?
Get a microfiber cloth. It absorbs the filth instead of smearing it around.
wait you change bed sheets? you mean all that dead skin and sweat infused into the sheets isn't normal?
I change mine every three months.
A. That's gross B. I'm putting my sheets in the wash
Are you my teenage sons?
wait that's a game? Awesome, new excuse.
You can even tell he likes to play 1. d4
It's like a heat map to his tendencies
This is actually how people can break into button door locks. They find the buttons with oil build up using powder, which then allows them to narrow down the possible combinations and predict your code.
Which is why newer digital door locks with a keypad will sometimes have you hit two or three random numbers before entering in the code
That or the numbers on the buttons scramble around.
I remember when Runescape instituted that circa 2008 for your bank pin. Good times.
Even the numbers placement on each button moved position. Seemed like overkill.
To prevent keyloggers from knowing your pin for sure.
The numbers already scrambled overall on the numpad. People are going to click different spots on the buttons even if the numbers stayed in the center.
US treasury website for buying bonds etc (Treasurydirect) does this with it's password system. You use a virtual keyboard on the site with the "keys" scrambled.
HANS: How long will it take you to crack it? THEO: About 4! seconds. HANS: Only 4 factorial? Khho khho khho!
Which is why it's really silly to only use a 4 digit PIN. You wouldn't use a 4 digit pass, why use it for bank or home security?
Just like in that 2001 PC game, Runaway A Road Adventure.
The most annoying keypad I had at one of the locations had displays on each buttons and would shuffle the numbers each time so you had to press different buttons.
Did this at work to get into the locked gates and the office wanted to know how I knew the pass code lol. "There was only 16 possible combinations so I guessed."
I'd say 1.d4 with fianchetto ideas on the King side or advanced french with white and Queens Gambit with Black.
Looks like a defensive player. Source, I know nothing about chess
It's true ! Wow, it's like a guide to his play style
to add to this it looks like he is playing a variation on the london opening
Ew
Its the Nc3 that stands out to me.
usually with blocking c pawn
50% of games are with black so really you don’t know if it’s d4 or e5 because it’s a combination of both
It might also be 1… e5.
I'm trying to guess the opening... Chigorin maybe?
We need some love for the f6, f7 squares.
Never play f6!
But it’s a good move! It has the exclamation point!
Don’t you mean f6??
It may be not advisable in the opening, but why not during mid/endgame?
Maybe that's why he's only elo 900ish, will boost him to grandmaster
Does he play lichess or chess.com?
At 900, it doesn't matter
Eh
Buy him a new screen protector and not one with that awful fingerprint cutout.
I'm guessing it's a Samsung which has a fingerprint sensor in the screen that doesn't work with a normal protector. And I agree with the comment below you samsung screens are next to indestructible
I have a Motorola with a fingerprint sensor behind the screen. It will work with almost any screen protector
I mean it *does* work on samsung but not nearly as well
Yeah, I have a Pixel with the fingerprint reader behind the screen and a screen protector. It works but it doesn't work all that well and sometimes requires multiple attempts.
Pixel uses a different kind of fingerprint sensor. It doesn't work very well even without a screen protector.
The one on the Pixel 7 works fine. Not quite as fast as Samsung but I can't complain.
Have a Samsung, the in screen sensor works fine with a film on it.
Which one
A bunch of phones have that by now.
You literally do not need a screen protector.
That's what I thought with my old Google pixel 4. I have literally dropped it on solid concrete without a case and had no damage to the phone. I don't put anything else in my pocket but when I'm outside a lot dust and dirt will get into my pocket and scratch my screen

>I've dropped my phone a hundred times. Sounds like it's more of a you problem than the screen protector.
What problem? I'm saving money, my phone works well and has never been damaged. Are you saying screen protectors only work if you never drop your phone? 😂
No, I'm saying maybe stop being so clumsy.

Damn! Invest in a microfiber cloth
Depending on how much it's been played, you can't get rid of the impressions, I've cleaned my tablet multiple times with a microfiber and cleaning wipes, and you can still see the marks.
Isopropyl is what you need
[This](https://d3nan4w00fsv2d.cloudfront.net/PICS_PRODUCT_LARGE/2306568.jpg) works wonders for cleaning phones. They also have tissue paper that doesn't leave residue. It's normally used to clean safety glasses in industrial applications.

That’s not a cleaning solution it’s a rosetta stone.
That's why you clean regularly from the start
Something isn't right there. What kind of tablet do you have?
It was a Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. I barely use it anymore thanks to it slowing to a crawl functionally. Didn't have a protector on the glass.
I'll tell him, but its quite interesting though!
2 year old phone no screen protector looks brand new compared to this. Fingernails of steel?
Same here. I pretty much just wipe it on the inside of my shirt each time I use it and it looks great
Same. I think it's a generational thing for some reason? Both my parent's phones look somewhat like this as well
Hell even without a microfiber I would be compelled to wipe it down at sight of the first fingerprint. How someone can use a phone this smudged up is beyond me, I'd go crazy!
I’ve got a screen protector on mine that seems to shed 99% of fingerprints somehow. Wish I knew the brand or kept the box as it feels like witchcraft.
Or put down the potato chips.
London player spotted

Why are you being downvoted?

Ohhhhhhh ok Reddit doing Reddit things. Lol
Idk lol, reddit thing. Couldn’t care enough.
🤷🏼♀️ weird eh
Call the Exorcist
Me ---> "Looks for phone to clean it"
So no one will know you play Chess too?
We know what to look for now. Gotta hide the evidence.
And based on the pattern my guess would be he likes the London opening
Tell your dad to watch out for the broken screen protector in the corners. Mine was just like that, and I got a splinter of it in my thumb that severely hampered my life for like 10 months.
google proper phone cleaning
Holy screen wipes !
Actual hygiene
Call the cleaning staff
Could a chess master figure out his strategy from this picture?
Not a chess master, but all this really seems to indicate is that he favours the center and rarely makes it to the back row, which is how 90% of games play out
Holy hell
Which chess app does he use?
Chess.com!
Is that an S10+ ?
What’s his rating?
I think 900ish!
Most informative response.
clean your dad's phone, this is elder abuse.
Looks like he's a queens pawn kinda guy
r/oddlysatisfying
try the london system
He doesn't get his rooks to the seventh rank enough
After playing Pokémon go for a community day or whatever, if I look at my screen in the light I can see my curveball throw path lmao
Ahhh reminds me of cydia
candy crush
LMAOO
Seems like Da opens with 1. d4 more than 1. e4. Like a PEASANT.
Wait… Scratches or fingerprint oil?
My guess is fingerprint oil. I can see patterns when I've been playing certain games, too.
what’s his username on chess.com i wanna play
Lichess
Can even tell he opens with the Sicilian
Might want to advice him to clean his phone once in a while
You should ask him to try LiChess, it’s like a 100 times better
Old people dont wash their hands as often as they should, sadly. That thing looks like a bacteria bomb.
It's good to squirt some 409 into a paper towel and give the cellphone a complete rub down about once a year.
No it isn’t!!! 409 is damaging to phones as are most household cleaners!!! Specifically it can rub the “protective oleophobic coating of your phone’s screen right off, not to mention corrode the metal parts of your phone.” https://badapplerepair.com/how-clean-sanitize-phone/
Remind dad that a screen carries a lot of germs and should be cleaned on occasions. Gl to his chess sucsess
he must have F2 and F3 as hell
Is he playing London System very often?
He never attacked f7, how curious.
Yeah my tablet has a permanent hexagon rubbed into it from playing Wordscapes (even after cleaning you can see the circles that make up the hexagon.)
This is literally my phone, case and all.
Likes to control the centre. Smort.
F6 and 7 are NEVER played. Which is really impressive because that's also C2 and 3
Bookworm makes smudges like that as well.
I wonder if you somehow get the AI to scan these prints, could it be able to simulate recent gameplays ? AI probably would go for that specific game's date base but that's not what i'm wondering.
I just got pink eye from that picture.
How much of that is trace amounts of semen?
Wipe that nasty thing with an alcohol pad
Queens Gambit huh?
Mine was Who wants to be a millionaire and he was regularly top 10. Maybe I'll play a bit for him...
Or Minesweeper

May be its candy crush
Sorry to inform you like this, but your dad is a London player
Or candy crush
It seems he likes the “daddy” gambit..
That bad boy needs a Lysol wipe

I love how these types of patterns show a relative frequency of each space being touched
also seems that your dad plays white a lot
I'm over here thinking he just has a very difficult password
Once a week or so my phone looks like this from my chess addiction. Are those cracks on the screen from rage quitting? Lol
I have burn ins on my screen from chess. xD
Can you arrange a match?
Not a dragger, I see
Looks like he plays the London System
