Another technique that works nearly as well, but is even easier to do, is to paint the eyes black and then put a white dot in each corner of both eyes.
For the eyes, make them oval shaped not round, also make sure there is no white showing above or below the pupil, he needs eyelids, if you don’t they will always have crazy serial-killer eyes.
Nice touch! Also, sorry you're getting a lot of ribbing over the archers' eyes- I personally love it for comedic reasons, but eyes are so freaking hard!
I usually use the 'shifty eyes' approach so they're a little easier to paint, and if my hand is steady, I can usually make it look decent.
Just one suggestion, but I think a wash of GW Athonian Camo shade or Army Painter Military Shader would add some nice depth to the archer. Just don't do the blue sections with it. Maybe a flesh wash for the face too, if you have any!
I will totally be stealing your Chrome marker technique for armour!
Fine tip pens. I us a dulled tack. Dab of paint for the black. You I used a round bit that was inside the skin and tapped just a little and wow. Got a really nice eye recently.
first guy is giving me the crazy eyes whilst telling me to shove it ✌️ i love his energy!
they look great, maybe if you trust yourself mix up a darker tone of you colours and paint in the shadows to add abit of separation.
1st dude has seen some shit.
Like if he could talk, he was probably an English yeoman from a historical wargame that got fielded as a proxy to bulk up an Empire battle line against the undead lead by a lich on a bone dragon
Looks like he's just finished stringing his bow, looked up to give his enemy the Vs and realised that they're 5ft away and charging at him with an axe the size of a small child.
second looks great, for first i say use it to train painting eyes.
good tip - eyelids should at least touch at least one side. also try make them bigger.
also good news, if you have black/white/skin colors on your palette, you can fix and improve it many times, hiding bad strokes and so on, try it
The accessories on the first need to be picked out. I would add white to your base colors and give the edges a nice highlight. A wash on the chain mail would help give it some definition.
Dude, these are great. The first guy looks like he's missing eyebrows, someone who has a great face for radio. The second guy could be confused as a still from one of those old clay-mation movies.
The look on the archer's face perfectly details the look on my face when I return home from the hobby shop and my wife waves to me from the front door.
No time to sneak these things through the garage . . .
That chainmail looks fantastic! The next steps for you would be working on highlighting and shading if you’d like to continue to improve. It’ll pump up your contrast on everything so it stands out more like the chainmail.
Keep working on the eyes. Make the pupil touch both the top and bottom of the eye. It sounds weird but it works and it doesn't make the miniatures eye pop out.
That first guy's expression is killing me. I love it! Well done
Definitely seen the elephant.
He looks mortified as to where those fingers were
"You take the blonde, I'll take the one in the turban."
It's as if he is reliving the harrowing tale of his first visit to Ye Ole Proctologist 🤣 Love the painting on both though.
“Zounds! I’ve shite me hosen!”
°_•
Robin Hood got that 1000 yard stare.
Feywild flashbacks
[“Damn your eyes!”](https://youtu.be/WNxy7uNEAzE?si=tqueGHT_vgRT2lsl)
“U fokin wot m8?!”
Do the eyes black first, then add a smaller white horizontal line, then a black dot. It'll look less shocked.
The shocked expression is the best part imo
I also have more luck making the black dot a slash (vertical, but with a slight tilt) rather than a round dot.
Another technique that works nearly as well, but is even easier to do, is to paint the eyes black and then put a white dot in each corner of both eyes.
I prefer the hyperthyroidism look achieved here!

Best eye advice I got as a beginner was, look in the mirror at your own eyes. How much white do you actually see there?
There are bulging eye conditions

I really think theyre cool but i had to laugh a little :D
That chain mail looks great!
a thin wash black and Chrome marker pen over it.
Unorthodox, but if it works it works!
Holy shit. My first land speeder and 20 marines were painted with a car paint pen just like that.

Actually not bad. Just give it a wash if it isnt already, and fox up the eyes. Though i dont do a lot of faces, so dont ask me...
TWO MORE ESPRESSOS PLEASE!
That has to be a British longbowman. Well done:)
Believe you’re right, isn’t that the 2 finger.. still got them salute? To the enemy whose archers got theirs cut off?
That archer has seen some shit. He survived but will have that wide eyed expression the rest of his days.
The eyes stare straight into my soul. Eyes are hard, I gave up years ago :D

Little John needs to see a doc about his hyperthyroidism.
"Mah nerves ah shot!"
Looks like he's just finished stringing his bow, looked up to give his enemy the Vs and realised that they're 5ft away and charging at him with an axe the size of a small child.
Is that prince farquad?
They actually look really cool! I myself have a real hard time doing small details and I think you did a nice job with the facial expressions
Just alter the index finger down on the first one and it'd be the best ranger mini with that stare.
Two finger salute is a British version of the middle finger.
Then this is a perfect piece.
An archer definitely(1) needs to be waving two fingers. 1. Experts in mediaeval insults might claim it's a myth, but we don't have to listen to them.

I think the models aren’t great, but the painting is decent Need banana for scale though
There gripping beast front rank figures so at ÂŁ1.80 you cant complain, sure they could be more details and a dramatic pose but I don't need that.
First one has an Aardman look to it. Love it.
Nice. Are they 32mm scale?
Sold as 28mm, there more heroic than some others.
you paint eyes better than i do
I think that the archer is being incredibly rude for a start. /s

Is he blasting arrows or finger blasting?
You could paint some more miniatures?
Hyperthyroidism Joking aside it looks great :)
Nice job! You got the basics right there. Did you enjoyed the process?
That first dude has seen some shit, each time I think about it I start giggling man
Why is this archer tell me to shove it? Fucking aggressive man
Buckler boi is my fav but hawk eyes is superbly done as well
The mini giving me the crux is great. Whatever you did it draws the attention to it.
The bug eya are funny but I love them
NĂ©stor, sos vos?
AH YES ELESDEE THE ARCHER
Is he supposed to be on crack
I see Marty Feldman will be playing the part of the archer for this performance. I usually have a lot of Marty Feldman impersonators in my work, too.
If the first is a miniature of Marty Feldman then you nailed it! https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marty_Feldman
Ohh that eyes)
I love them
He has seen some things, that's for sure. Love it!
Keep working on the eyes. Make the pupil touch both the top and bottom of the eye. It sounds weird but it works and it doesn't make the miniatures eye pop out.
Love the archer. I’d never want to meet him on the battlefield, must be a real sniper with those eyes.
Green tunic is an all time banger. Keep on cowboy
Mandatory: Thin your paints. Anyway that archer has seen things, funnier when you conder the eyes on the other guy are petty good.
“JOG ON YA WANKA!!!”- the hunter in image one
I think he’s saying…”2? Gh…ghost?”
Some times it's better not to paint the eyes.
I have seen some things face
The key to fixing bug eye, that is if you want to fix it, is to go back with your flesh tone and paint eyelids on them, quick lit swish of the brush
