I’ve always thought each team should have a contest and designate one fan as the “blowout pitcher” who comes in and throws in situations like this instead of a position player.
They sign a waiver and make like $250k to travel with the team and do just this. Position players go up there and throw like 50mph anyways so do tryouts and find a fan who’s athletic and can do that and let them do it instead.
I’d rather watch that, would be fun.
By the way, the reason they need to keep allowing this is the fact that, the game is over. The angels want to save their bullpen. They're not gonna waste more arms when the game is over.
