I've been saying they're 2 years away from being scary good for a while now. They've signed big players, they've had great prospects, but they just haven't out it all together. It's bizarre
I write power rankings for my fantasy football leagues and can confirm: it becomes mighty tough finding positive things to say about the basement dwellers by the halfway point of the season. 470 feet is 470 feet indeed
You’ve clearly never read the CFB Bottom 10, then. Quite a lot of effort for the worst of the worst. And since my team is often featured, it’s the only time I get to read about them.
The power rankings analysis is always garbage, good teams or bad. Usually it’s some painfully obvious take like “man, [xyz team] is playing great right now, they should be playoff bound for sure”. Throw in some boring ass stats, throw in some casual lines to make the writer seem more down to earth, and boom… publish
Huge Blackhawks fan. Watching their season despite the Bedard highlights was painful. Hearing of the White Sox’ dismal season watched a few games over the last month. Wow - I thought it was hard to be a Blackhawks fan during this rebuild.
White Sox are seriously one of the worst MLB teams fielded in recent memory. Will they be worse than the 2019/2003 Tigers….maybe?
The entire post is low effort.... It's a weekly ranking article and they've been the worst team in the league literally all season. What do you want them to talk about?
~~My somewhat shaky memory is that Coors adds high single-digits percentage to fly ball distances. (Obviously dependent on launch angle.) So that might be a 430, 440 foot blast elsewhere. Which is still a hell of a dong. How many home runs of that distance get hit in a season, anyway? Less than 100 I assume. 440 will still get you to The Black at Yankee Stadium and many years no balls are hit there at all.~~
Didn't notice the main theme of the post! You'd think the white with black pinstripes would've tipped him off.
So, to make the coefficient observation useful - it might have been 500+ ft at Coors.
Anyone who puts effort in on the 2024 White Sox is absolutely wasting their time. Including the players on the team.
As a die hard who watches most games, this comment is both accurate and painful.
My condolences.
Ouch but true. Please let jerry expire already
A few of their young pitchers are pretty legit though

Not all that different from the Royals a few years ago or the Mariners
You're reading a rankings list. This type of article is just a garbage opinion piece anyways, so you're kind of getting what you bargained for
Power rankings are the buzzfeed listicle of the sports world.
If we don't engage with "power rankings" Ben Verlander doesn't eat
If that is true I promise to boycott all power rankings in professional sports. Can I get that in writing?
I don’t care what it is. It’s the whitesox. You don’t do anything to support that kind of trash.
“I’m not gay but 470ft is 470ft.”
Every field is Coors Field if you have enough Coors
I wake up in a coors field everyday and I don’t even have to try
Or weed. You will certainly feel a mile high.
It clearly says Guaranteed rate field behind it in the picture. Maybe it would have been 490 at Coors.
Kinda makes it more impressive though
Lmao coors feild is in Chicago now??🤣
I will say there is a lot of coors floating around that stadium, per capita
They anit got nothing on wrigley feild drunks, you'd be surprised how sloppy they get
High school level filler words
It’s called journalism, look it up. Edit: damn yall, sarcasm.
What on earth could they possibly talk about?? Current laughing stock, atleast he didn’t torch them.
He's saying they could at least get the stadium the game was played in correct
Ohhh my b

Probably more effort than the White Sox have put in all season long don't worry
Shut up. No one actually gives a shit about the White Sox
This is literally the auto response on r/baseballcirclejerk
To many people not getting your reference
The game was in Chicago and not Coors Field
That reads like it was written by ChatGPT and then, as pointed out, not edited well.
Why spend time talking about a baseball team that doesn’t spend time trying to win baseball?
To entertain myself, I read that in my head as Will Ferrell as Harry Caray
MLB.com 'articles' are always '1 player from each team's low effort crap to get views.
When did Coors Field move?
is this the Athletic? Their coverage has gone to absolute SHIT for any team outside a top-5 market. Bring back Dan Connelly you cowards!
nvm appears to be MLB.com - same sentiment though!
"Remember that time, when the White Sox wore their home uniforms while playing in Colorado?" -The author probably
"Power rankings" listicle is shittily-written, more at 11

So just like 2005 never happened, Now there ball park isn’t there?
The writers: “Yeah, I know of one guy on the Sox”
“All that sort of business.” Love it!
.209 batting average
Man, wow
Someone needs a hobby.

This writer put in more effort than Reinsdorf has.
That looks suspiciously like ESPN formatting and their writers being shit is becoming more and more an across the board kinda deal

Jesus
So do their owners and GMs
People actually watch the white Sox’s? 👀
As a twins fan, I’m glad to have this team as our “rivals”
Unfortunately, a 470’ HR doesn’t add any more runs to the score than one that barely clears the fence. Is that worth $8M+/year?
Except it wasn’t Coors Field
Tyler Maher at Sports Illustrated is the king of terrible low-effort writing, and he does it for the good teams too.
I don’t want anything that has the stank of the Chicago White Sox near any of the teams I root for.
Stephen A. Jackson write that?

I don’t hate it
