I’m not American, but I think that American monarchists today simply admire monarchy as a system of government and are not equivalents to 18th century Loyalists. That is, I believe they wish for a new monarchy and not for a return to the British monarch. So, there would be no reason for them to not respect their flag. In theory, of course.

LegitimateBeing2

I am an American monarchist who wants to be a subject of the British monarch again, and I still stand for the flag. The way I see it, disloyalty to the system you were raised under was what started this whole mess in the first place. Between the US as it is now and returning to British rule, I would definitely take the second, but compared to anything else patriotism is the safest route.

truebosniack

That's about the dumbest thing I ever heard. You just want the USA to willfully surrender itself to a secondary power? Why don't you support an independent monarchy under a Custis-Lee or a Hohenzollern?

PowerImaginary4777

I stand for the flag out of loyalty to my nation and the people who call it home. Its not a monarchy, but that doesn’t hinder my love of it.

Kono-Daddy-Da

I absolutely support the American nation being a republic. I just support European institutions instead

swishswooshSwiss

Same with my nation.

HMKingHenryIX

Exactly. This is where most American monarchists are. We support existing monarchy’s and historic monarchy’s, but not monarchy’s in countries with centuries of tradition as a republic.

truebosniack

Can you really consider yourself a monarchist then?

HMKingHenryIX

Rule 6. I am a 21st century, realist monarchist. I support the continuation of existing monarchies, such as in Commonwealth Realms where the institution is most at risk, and all other current European and Asian constitutional monarchies. I do not support monarchy’s in countries that have generations of tradition and history as a Republic, such as the United States or France.

truebosniack

"monarchy's"

truebosniack

> I do not support monarchy’s in countries that have generations of tradition and history as a Republic, such as... France So you're saying if a country was ever a republic even once it should never be allowed to be a monarchy ever again? For almost a thousand years of France's history it was a monarchist state, so were many other modern republics. According to you even if the people of a nation favor monarchism it doesn't matter because it is/was at one point a republic!

HMKingHenryIX

I’m not going to argue with you. My position is my position. If you have a problem refer to rule 6.

truebosniack

You're not going to argue with me because you don't have a valid response. You can't just end the debate out of nowhere.

HMKingHenryIX

Lol yes I can. You initiated this with me out of the blue. I do have a valid response you just don’t like my answer. Again, rule 6.

truebosniack

Stop saying rule 6 and give me a good answer if you have it.

HMKingHenryIX

I already explained. I’m a realist.

Reality_Auditor

I support monarchism to temper the excess prone to republicanism. As for the flag, I hate stripes and think it is time for a redesign.

american-monarchist2

Yes. Country always comes above politics for me

Dahvtator

I cant remember the last time i stood up to respect the flag. But its never been specifically for the reason you stated.

Belisariusthefirst

I respect the American flag because it was the country i was born in and it broke away from Britain for a reason. George III overall wasn't the most amazing British monarch in my opinion. America should not be confused for anti-monarchism. I advocate for the restoration of monarchies everywhere. The American revolution is best understood from a monarchist perspective as a lesson on the importance of checks and balances on a monarchy, lest the monarch cause serious disputes due to his decisions E.g. taxation of colonies. I think America can be viewed as the world's longest running experiment in governance. No divine mandate, No real defining ethnocultural group, Just the democratic ideal distilled into it's most ideologically pure form, albeit oftentimes spottily executed. America could really use a apolitical figurehead right about now.

ElectricSheep729

I stand for the flag to respect my community. But yes, if I could become a British citizen while living and working here, I'd gladly give up my right to vote in order to swear allegiance to King Charles. (I mean, I'd prefer it to be King Franz, but nevertheless, I'll accept the falsely called Glorious Revolution if I must.)

imakepoordecision

Of course I stand for it. I think the American flag somewhat takes the spot of a monarch in our democracy.

aredri

I do stand up for the flag. I’m a monarchist, but I do not support American monarchism because of America’s strong republican tradition. As a Scottish-American, however, I see the British monarchy as my ethnic leaders — like how you might consider a traditional king in Africa.

RustyShadeOfRed

I’m too American to support an absolute monarchy, I’m just in this sub because I enjoy how the old countries keep their traditions alive. (and also you guys are really friendly) And yea I stand for the flag 🇺🇸

Valence1444

Not all monarchies are absolute monarchies but I get what you’re saying.

swishswooshSwiss

There are very few absolute monarchies left

Magos_Kaiser

I stand for the flag because I’m in the US Army. I think monarchism is a better form of governance, not that republicanism is the Antichrist.

imakepoordecision

I’m prior service and I have my jealousies of monarchism. The main one being you can still (nominally) have a steady hand on the wheel even in the roughest of times.

PrincedeReynell

I stand because my family has been in the military on North America since the French and Indian wars. I despise our government but respect our troops.

--fr0stbit3--

Yes because I’m not an autist

dukedanchen8

I am an Asian-American monarchist. Personally speaking, I think that the U.S. is an exception to the case since we're the oldest modern democracy in the world. However with personal preferences in the monarchy support, I am more in support of Asian monarchies. Also, the dynastical monarchy in the U.S. should follow traditional customs with hereditary peerage nobilities and the aristocracy being a part of the monarchic government if the monarchy was to be restored. In my purview, monarchies (old or new dynastical houses) around the world must be related to the aristocracy to continue the blue blooded legitimacy as I consider myself a "semi-traditionalist" to an extent.

thechanger93

That’s deep.

Ok_Squirrel259

I as an American wish that we have a monarchy because our republican government is ruled by retards.

Lethalmouse1

I think America had a decent ideal. And thst if you look to history Monarchy over the long run actually produces what America stands for more often. A more limited republic can achieve the same. It's just usually less distant from failing. America is in function almost nothing of what it is supposed to be, but the flag literally represents the good > the bad. I think you can see this in the atheist-commie-sodomites who all hate the flag. America is also part paradox as in many aspects of the revolution were against the parliament (democracy) than the King in reality. Just a misunderstanding of how to fix the issue.

Monarchist_Weeb1917

I'm an American, but when school does the Pledge of Allegiance, I quietly sing either Bozhe Tsarya Khrani or Bože Pravde

[deleted]

I hate the people that run this country, my family has often been betrayed and I wish for the country to be broken up but I won't go out of my way to disrespect it.

ZhukNawoznik

Most American "Monarchists"I have encountered merely call themselves that to be quirky or signal they don't like the voting system or the democracy or republic institutions but most are just normal die hard American Republican patriots that would never ever say a bad word about George Washington or Jefferson. Many also just want the American Empire to not die and be restored in w bizarre way although Wilson was the greatest monarchy killer of all. You can advocate for Imperialism or Empire without being a monarchist. But I suppose most that mean it when they say they are Anti-Anglo American Monarchists (I like to call them Anti-Lovecrafters) want an American Napoleon. But yeah, you know how many also see him critical in the context of the Republic and its bloodshed or fundamental change of warfare and age old boundaries and traditions etc.

truebosniack

I still stand for the flag despite simultaneously being a monarchist and a neo-Confederate. (odd combination, I know.) While I may not have the Golden Circle Empire of my dreams, the USA is the best we've got even if it's a republic.
