I have an M1 Max 16” with 64gb of RAM and everything runs like a dream. It’s faster than my PC by miles.

Hi, I will try to share my experience about each point. First of all, about my English... I'm doing my best and I know that is not enough something , so I'm sorry for that. I work daily with illustrator, Photoshop, After Effects (VFX, motion graphics and animation), InDesign, krita for cel animation, blender and sometimes premier (like ones a month or even less). I worked all my life in different places with PC and Mac, at home first with windows desktop computer (that is the name, one thing for sure that I know in English) and Mac notebooks, and last years I went also for a desktop Mac (and my life is way better) The laptop running on windows are even more powerful than a mac, but macs need less power to work properly, so with the same power you will run smoothly with a Mac. My current MacBook is from 2017, and I use it for everything that I do when I'm not at home (sometimes I pass 1 month outside). Even composition AE, sometimes I need to wait a little, but it works pretty well (I must say: is empty, I uninstall the CC programs that I so8use in this moment (easy to do with the CC app) and I use a tiny ultra fast empty external SSD as scratch disk and another for the working files). You don't need to be scared at the Mac os, the only problem at the beginning is that you will be boring because you don't have almost anything to do with the os (compared to windows) you just work. A lot of time ago I used to love to tweak things and there is a lot less in Mac, but is because you don't need to. At the beginning you will struggle with some little differences, but in some time you will start to do the thing at the Mac way and you will understand the reason of his differences. The half of my freelance life I had a windows desktop and a MacBook, in a lot of works we had both, at the beginning I had windows at home and Mac at work, there is any problem to switch, you doit that automatically. Without thinking your fingers will make the right shortcut without need to think about it. There is not such thing has problem with files Edit: sorry I sent the comment, I'll continue in an answer.

There are not such thing as problem switching files from a system yo another, not more than from two computers with windows at least, you only need to have the same version of programs, but that is not related with the systems. I think that the last time that I have of a problem working with files from a system to another was with a zip drive, do you know what a zip drive was? If not, imagine how many time has passed. And that is all that I had to say about the subject. I can just add that if you take the MacBook, one day you will have also a desktop Mac.

Well, to start with almost any 11th gen Intel or 5k amd windows based laptop can easily outperform m1. Plus upgradability, especially if you use an adobe ram hungry package (talking 'bout AE), not sure how easy if ever possible upgrade ram on Mac, but windows based laptops are easy to upgrade, based on specs, with 64gb or more ram and secondary storage/third drive (that you can install 1tb m2 and use it as a scratch/cache disk). Just a personal opinion, but I would go with windows Intel or amd based laptop.

I use a small 13inch macbook pro to parsec into a PC tower for remote work. Given you have good internet this is a good setup (macbooks have great battery)
