They also have a photochromic visor automatically darkens depending on the intensity of sunlight. Expensive but worth it.

neodoggy

[Do you mean this](https://shoei-helmets.com/products/cwr-f2-transitions-pinlock-ready-face-shield.html)? I like it and would get one, but it says it fits the RF-1400 and X-Fifteen. So I don't think it will work for my helmet unfortunately.

Oddblivious

That's the one. They make different versions for all the different helmets. The rf1400 version just came out about a year after the helmet. Unless yours is newer their should be a version fitting your helmet

Working-Marzipan-914

I don't think the transitions makes sense for a neotec II with a drop down sun shield.

vexargames

I was hype about this until I saw the reviews and they are pricey and that color change effect seems to wear off pretty quickly and become less effective in a very short time. So i passed on getting one. I got a new X-15 and the blue tinted visor which is my standard it is a little more transparent then the AGV K6 blue visor but I like it better at night, and it is good for sunny days as well.

_grga

Had mine for 3 years and it’s still fine

vexargames

that's good to hear - so far the reviews of those visor I think 2 I found both sad the color change faded after 6 months.

DankVectorz

So long as you store it somewhere dark when not using it it lasts several years at least.

ashtray1

Have mine for 6 and it does not work that well anymore...i'm gonna get a gt air next

GuidedByMonkeys

Same

Oddblivious

Had mine just over a year with no noticable shift in tint

Zestiest46

I use the dark smoke on my RF-1400. Works great! Its pretty dark in the mornings, but my eyes adjust

Inurbelly

I have the dark smoke as well. I was honestly surprised by how good the visibility was at night for the visor appearing nearly black from the outside. I definitely thought night riding was going to be worse.

Renerts

I have a very light smoke visor on a Neotec 1 that works fine for before dawn and dusk. I'll see if I can PM you a link to me wearing it.

duskie3

I’ve got the ‘Spectra Fire Orange’ (silly name) on a GT Air 2. It’s fine. I wish it was darker. Bit stiff too, I usually need both hands to get it fully closed, but the clear visor does this too so it’s a helmet issue

neodoggy

Does the orange color come through in the tinting, or does it just look like normal tinting for you while wearing it?

duskie3

Looks completely normal for you. Maybe a little bit blue, if anything.

RandomBiologist100

I want to get this too, but I cant find any pictures of what it actually looks like on a helmet. Can you send a pic?

duskie3

These aren't me but this is the visor I have on the helmet I have. [Pic 1](https://www.hypermotard.de/uploads/monthly_2021_04/74891C5A-45C1-44AA-BC38-12D10F25DD6A.png.6d82ddd71db339a16f71e2a8d1d60c0e.png.00399bd87b47ec2d6c148eabfd93bb02.png) [Pic 2](https://images.sbito.it/api/v1/sbt-ads-images-pro/images/a5/a5b093cf-b5e0-4505-99e7-dc09469e2aeb?rule=fullscreen-1x-auto) I can take a pic when I get home if you want more/from certain angles, etc.

RandomBiologist100

That looks awesome, that’s not the orange one tho right? Cause in like the one picture I can find of the orange one, there looks like there’s a tiny bit of green or blue in it too.

duskie3

[Video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MImtRCJoqyE) It's only orange at a certain angle.

RandomBiologist100

Oh woah! Dang kind of a bummer I was hoping it’d be like bright orange and red mostly

sticky_fingers18

[here you go](https://youtu.be/JKG-0WkAcVg?si=cOHCkLIEbRC8glUp) They did a 360 of all the colors, super appreciative of them for that

Flubberkoekje

I have the silver visor on my Neotec 2 and my RF-1400. it's honestly perfect for me. Really good balance of enough light but not too much. Dark enough not to have to squint all the time, but light enough for excellent visibility. When it gets darker due to cloud coverage it's still somewhat doable, but at night it's definitely too dark.

neodoggy

Thanks for the insight. I was thinking about taking a chance on that one but I'm glad I didn't. As it happens I'm actually also considering replacing my Neotec II with an RF-1400. I've never used a non-modular helmet before though - do you find the sizing to be the same between them? Is it more difficult to put on the RF-1400?

Flubberkoekje

Yeah sizing is exactly the same from what I can tell. Although the RF-1400 is a lot tighter to get on, but that's by design. I did go a size smaller for the RF-1400, but that's purely because I accidentally bought a size too large when I got my Neotec last year, which meant I had to get the personal fitting. Actually I'm so glad I got the RF-1400. As I said it's very tight to get on, but once it's on it is just incredibly comfortable. Reduced weight compared to the Neotec helps a lot with that too. Visibility is much better, and personally I don't really mind the fact it doesn't have a sunvisor. In terms of noise it's about the same as the Neotec. Also, it's much easier to mount a Cardo on the RF-1400.

neodoggy

how is the ventilation with the visor lifted on the RF-1400 versus raising the Neotec's face? The main reason I like modular helmets is that they make it easy to breathe when I'm sitting still at a red light or plodding along in 5 MPH stop and go traffic in 95 F weather (I live in the DC area so this is unfortunately a large part of my daily ride in the summer).

Flubberkoekje

Yeah understandable. I mean, I don't wanna hype the RF-1400 up too much, but the ventilation is really good. Visor open at slow speeds allows for plenty of air to get to your face. No problems with that whatsoever. Might not be as good as the Neotec when it's flipped up, but it's certainly nothing to complain about. I actually found, that with the visor closed and all vents opened, the ventilation is actually much better than the Neotec. You can clearly feel the air moving through the helmet, which is something I didn't experience with the Neotec.

UJMRider1961

Doesn't your Neotec have the drop-down sunglasses-visor thing? Mine does. IMO that pretty much negates the value of a tinted or colored face shield.

neodoggy

It does, but I don't like using it. It touches my nose and tickles.

aroundincircles

I'm all about amber visors. cuts glare at night, and works great for early morning/evening when the light is too dark for sun glasses, but too light to not have nothing. Most companies have stopped making amber visors, so I Picked up some amber safety glasses, and wear those under my helmet.

uhohstinkyhaha

Imo a face visor is where it’s very acceptable to just get a Amazon one. Got one for 30 bucks off Amazon (gold spectra whatever) and it fits and looks perfect.

Provectus08

Aren't you concerned about the safety rating? Not sure about you, but I've taken a couple of hard stones to the visor over the years, also had my windscreen chipped twice in the car... So they're definitely hitting with force!

uhohstinkyhaha

It’s held up rlly good so far. It’s just name brands making shit super expensive cause it’s official

Provectus08

How many stone hits has it taken? That's my major concern about it, especially how crap the quality *some* of the things Amazon sell are.

uhohstinkyhaha

It’s taken one big one I assume since there is a mark right on the top. I don’t notice it at all though and forgot about it till you mentioned it Edit: Also ride s1k and have taken it fairly fast and have had rocks pelting me and it’s still held up really really well. Besides the one scuff on the top it’s still in new condition

Provectus08

That's impressive tbf, if I knew I was getting one of that quality I'd be very tempted, but I know Amazon is hit or miss with most things.

uhohstinkyhaha

Yea just couldn’t justify what Shoei was charging for RF1400 visor. Like 80 bucks which is insane. 2 friends have also gotten Amazon visors for different helmets and they have held up even better then mine. I really don’t think you’ll regret it.

fookyoursister

you won't see people crossing the street
