Don't even bother with the R6.
It's an amazing bike honestly, but no one in their right mind should have to pay 18k for a 600cc.
If you really want a 600, just buy a new CBR600RR/ZX-6R. They're going to be at least 3-4k cheaper than the R6.
That Bimmer looks sweet though.
R6s are popular, a good chunk of motovlogs and motoshorts feature it, and it isn't manufactured anymore, so every one crashed or wrecked or bought lessens the amount available, also with the sad impending death of the inline 4 motor they are only gonna get more desirable.
I wouldnt say the inline 4 is impending death. We just got thr CBR600RR and Europe just got the ZX4RR. Sure there are less of them then before, but new ones are still coming
But the ZX4RR is likely to be the new direction meaning we won’t see 600cc 120+ hp inline 4s anymore. Probably not for a while yeah, but if emissions controls continue to get stricter then it’s likely over time.
For most riders (or at least european riding) the ZX4RR is pretty okay id say. Kinda sucks that it only has like 35 Nm but it goes past 210kph.
CBR600RR and ZX6R are still available though.
Inline 4 is beautiful though, i do love my Z's sound a ton and how it handles
Oh I agree, I’m not a fan of big bikes. I had a 675 Daytona and it was great fun but i only used all of its power like a couple times. Pretty much can’t do it on public roads at all without endangering yourself and others.
But I just meant in the context of these bikes starting to go the way of the old high revving 2 stroke sport bikes.
Ah yeah, theyll probably go out the door in a while as honestly the power really isnt needed on the streets and high performance isnt known to be very "green".
That said, i was pretty surprised by how "little" power the new GSX8S makes, a mate is buying it and it has almost 30hp less than my 20yo Z750S with the same torque values. Maybe a bit more of its power will get used on the street but idk
In general, yes. However, when something that is already popular gets discontinued, it will only lead to people selling at higher prices since it's no longer available and there is a limited amount left in the market.
If this were about some crappy motorcycle that no one cared about in the first place, then your argument would stand. However, it's not. It's a refined inline 4 that is very popular and iconic. The value for this motorcycle will only increase as time goes on and as long as Yamaha has it discontinued.
Its pretty common for something that is more rare to find to cost more than something that is common.
Add on top of that that it is a popular item that is rare.
Add on top of that that it is discontinued while people still want it.
Probably someone who bought it in top spec just because "expensive liter bike" and realised it's too much bike for them, and just wants to get rid of it now.
R6 is the popular biketoker bike. It's popular to shit on the R7 as being ugly, underpowered, and expensive. And then buy a questionably maintained 10 year old R6 for $5k more.

It may be emissions stuff, I know the ZX4RR can be tuned to make wayyy more power than out of the dealership.
Wasnt that the US version that got detuned some more on the air intake or so that was easy to change?
I’m not sure of the region specifics but it should be able to get to 75HP but some countries have it rolling off the dealership at like 50HP
I can get a brand new GSX-R1000 for that price...?
Not a fucking chance. I can get a 2023 Ducati brand new for $23 Cdn.
I have a buddy in Canada and it’s crazy how much cheaper bikes are there. Particularly in Montreal.
It's cause Yamaha discontinued the R6
Rarity ≠ value.
Are you on stupid juice my man?
Are you on copium? Just because some is rare or discontinued doesn't mean its worth anything.

you are mistaken lol that is the exact way supply and demand work. less supply, same demand, therefore more value
That's a great price on that binmer.

They're notoriously unreliable. Their value has gone down dramatically
The S1000RR is not that bad. The M1000RR on the other hand..... That I agree, that motor blows up left right and centre.
Easy choice, I’d get that S1000RR any day of the week
Until you realise it's an unreliable piece of junk and you've already spent 5k on an engine rebuild
S1000RR’s aren’t that bad, the M1000RR however… yeah, those are exactly like you said in your comment
Old gen r6 > new gen r6
man with these insane prices, im curious on how much i can sell my r6 for

S1K is also heavily underpricing their bike. It’s not worth less then 17 😭. Also with only 3k miles.
