I have this bike. It’s amazing and is the most all around capable bike I’ve rode. Buy it $

qualitzy44

Do you think it’s worth it to sell my 23 ripmo af for $2200 and get this stylus? Reason being is I feel like it’ll be too much maintenance for a FS that’ll add up 😅🫤

I see, makes sense! Do you think 900 is fair for the bike given the components? Someone said the brakes/drivetrain and fork are all old… Maybe he’d be willing to go 800.

scubasquatch100

for $800 id absolutely go for this bike. The brakes are XT and are good brakes. The derailleur is a Sram NX which is pretty budget level, but a derailleur is something that will likely need to be replaced sooner or later, and you can choose to upgrade a bit at the time. Wheels and forks are also good components, they just are not new new. It also has some really nice components like the one up dropper, chromag bars and maxxis tires. In my area this bike would easily sell for 1000$ in under an hour.

Newdles

I have a 2023 Ripley and a latest model chromag rootdown. I never ride my Ripley. The Chromag is infinitely better.

xizrtilhh

That's a good price. It's fair andnot low enough to be suspicious. I had a Chromag hardtail and it was a lot of fun.

CRM_MTB

I'd ride the heck outta that thing for 900 bucks

RupertTheReign

No such thing as single piston XT brakes, the ad is wrong... but the rear is a 2 piston brake. The price is definitely good for that bike, especially if it has been well maintained... and I love the colour/graphics! Edit: The front brake looks like a 4 piston to me. Also, the NX derailleur is fairly low end, but an easy upgrade for when you inevitably smash it off a rock.

michaelridesmtb

I’ve used NX for years and it’s just fine imo. X01 is way better tho but an NX derailleur shouldn’t be a high priority on the replacement list

RupertTheReign

Yep... that's why I said to upgrade it once it needs replacement anyway.

BmxerBarbra

For sure, I am hard on bikes and had mine for years no problem

RupertTheReign

Show me. They all have 2 pistons or 4.

othegrouch

I’m being a pedantic asshole, but Hayes So1e had one piston -like BB7s but those sent really pistons since they are mechanicals. I digress. The So1e were hydraulic and had one moving piston and one stationary piston. If you want more useless bike trivia, let me know.

RupertTheReign

Yes, but we're not talking about Hayes. We're talking about XT, which only came in 2 and 4 piston variants. The dude who deleted the post argued that this was clearly a 1 piston then made another post saying 1 and 2 piston are the same. He was a total tool about it too haha.

othegrouch

If talking about XT, yeah two and four pistons only. Like I said, I was being pedantic lol

BasvanS

I had a 3 piston XT. AMA

Electrical-Age8031

Is chromag bringing back the banshee scratch style?

venomenon824

You mean metallic colors? I had a banshee Chapparal in metallic brown. Chromag has done a bunch of mettalics over the years too.

Electrical-Age8031

Like the frame design

venomenon824

They’ve def been producing hardcore hardtails for years. That top tube curve is similar for sure.

Electrical-Age8031

That's what I'm saying those stores are the best i use my scratch as an ebike cause of the beefy af drop out

RoutineWoodpecker699

Looks great, but 170mm travel would be too much for me, for a hardtail at least.

quattro725121

Taj rides one. If that isn’t an awesome endorsement for this bike, I don’t know what is. https://m.pinkbike.com/news/bike-check-taj-mihelichs-chromag-stylus.html

MexicanHam2

Also ask yourself if you need 170mm of travel. I always see ppl reposting their bikes on fb because “too much bike , or don’t like how it handles”

BasvanS

It’s still a hardtail, so it should still be fun

Jacob-DoubleYou

I bought a used full suspension trail bike for $800. Ive seen other people list my bike (giant stance) for $700. So for 900 dollars I’d take a hard pass for a hardtail unless it’s brand spanking new with 0 scratches and the seller offers free tune ups.

BmxerBarbra

Hell yea

Newdles

Instant buy.

FuckedUpMoment

It’s pretty rare to find a chromag for this price. I’d make sure to check it out, otherwise this is a good deal.

MDmtb

Thats a great deal but that dropper is comically long
