I only do that after cav are all gone.
Had 200 archers run away from 5 cav...my damn infantry suffered so many losses because of that.
Donated all those archers to a garrison to teach them a lesson
Well spoken, indeed. The ultimate convergence of martial prowess and tactical finesse finds harmonious embodiment in the utilization of F1 + F3. To comprehend the sagacity behind this seemingly straightforward strategy, one simply must delve into the timeless wisdom of Sun Tzu, the ancient Chinese military strategist whose teachings in "The Art of War" have withstood the test of millennia. After all, Sun Tzu espoused the significance of adaptability and flexibility in warfare, emphasizing the need to exploit opportunities swiftly and decisively. The F1 + F3 maneuver epitomizes this principle, as it allows for the rapid deployment of all available troops to engage the enemy with unbridled aggression. This mirrors Sun Tzu's counsel to be swift in action, catching the adversary off-guard and preventing them from formulating effective counter-strategies. Furthermore, the F1 + F3 combination aligns with Sun Tzu's concept of feigned disorder, an artful technique where chaos is simulated to sow confusion among the enemy ranks. By commanding all troops to charge, a semblance of disorder is created, confounding the opponent and disrupting their coordinated efforts. Sun Tzu's words echo through the digital battleground, emphasizing the psychological impact of surprise and disorder on the adversary. In the theater of war, this strategy also reflects Sun Tzu's emphasis on the importance of morale. The swift, unified charge instills a sense of collective purpose among the troops, fostering a psychological advantage that can prove decisive in the heat of battle. This synchronization of movements echoes Sun Tzu's belief in maintaining the morale of one's own forces while undermining that of the enemy. Therefore, the seemingly straightforward F1 + F3 combination in strategic gaming draws upon the wisdom of Sun Tzu by embodying principles of swiftness, adaptability, feigned disorder, and morale management. As players orchestrate this tactical ballet on the virtual battlefield, they unwittingly pay homage to an ancient military strategist whose insights continue to resonate across the ages. It's simply unmatched.
F6 + ride around the outside with 2 handed axe messing up their morale.
Edit: 2 handed axes go round the outside, round the outside, round the outside.
Oh yea, I always have the shield on the back, which definitely ends up with arrows stuck to it. I think the shield on the back can also occasionally block melee from the back.
In my current game I have a party of half Valadian Sharpshooter and half Valadian spearmen. Start battle F1 F4 until the Calvary gets close then I F1 F5 and just walk around the square cleaving people with my axe.
Not only I send everyone on charge, I lead the bloody charge myself like the true legend that is Theoden-king.
I don't die like the Theoden-king though, I usually get captured and then dragged around as a captive.
yeahhh the reply said "do not engage in combat unless you can 1v1 a lord or you are able to..."
nahh sorry chief, I don't give a flying fuck about building an empire if I have to do it by cowering back and hiding behind the men I rally to protect me. how could I inspire them to do what I refuse to do myself?
I am not just a god to be worshipped for my wisdom, I am all-powerful as well. I am, a Warrior-King
Mate, as someone who likes reading about history I know enough to know that Alexander the Great never lost a battle. He was close, a couple of times, but every time he turned it around by leading a charge himself.
That final battle against Darius? Yeah he was loosing until he led the cavalry charge at Darius and came pretty damn close, so close in fact Darius ran away, and his army lost morale when they saw him running away and they broke and Macedons won. He was even wounded severly, barely surviving in some of those charges.
Now me when I'm playing MB, I have no illusions about being the ole Alex incarnate, but neither is the AI that leads those bloody bandits.
Dude-Friend YES! I like taking an all cav/horse archer party around sometimes. Send the archers to harassass as I take the heavy cavalry on an epic charge and I think of Theoden on that charge every fuckin time.
Back when I used to play cRPG in Warband (best MP mod ever, is there a Bannerlord equivalent yet? Haven't played Bannerlord MP since early access) since I suck at horseback I didn't bother investing into that shit. Nah first I gotta get better at melee. And then I found that I got pretty got at knocking those cavalry dudes of their horses.
WAIT. WAIT. WAIT. DODGE+BLOCK. SLASH AT THE HORSE. HORSE DIES, DUDE FALLS OVER, GETS SWARMED.
And then I understood. It's not about armour, equipment or shit like that, it's up to how good the dude actually is. Now some of those guys...I went up fully armoured up which is expensive as shit to maintain, and the dudes only in underpants armed only with a most cheap polearm available were killing it. Those dudes I learned to stay away from if they're on the other team, or follow and help them if they're on yours.
Mount&Blade MP was where it was it for Warband. Has Bannerlords' MO taken off?
It was honestly a joke. Most army commanders have an increased risk of getting sniped.
Could have been fun if someone took the bait and was afraid to move in due to sniper assassins. Haha.
And thanks! First ever cake congratulations I got.
I usuallly lead my cav to destory their cavalry then their archers and then charge the lines as a treat when they';re in melee with my shield wall. The issue with leaving cavalry on F6 is that they'll repeatedly charge the infantry instead and get killed
in all honesty, I usually have all follow until I get to a strategic spot, then I have archers above with units in a shield wall (or if there's no height, maybe a circle formation)
then I turn them loose with F6, archers stay put (or back up if no height)
Listen to me, if you're not archer based DO NOT TAKE HIGH GROUND. It literally is detremenral more often than not, since helmets are tough and enemy can easily outrange your troops in melee.
It's not even that good in archer based armies, since Bannerlord doesn't deal very well with FF avoiding in 3d. A good portion of your archers will not shoot even if they have clear shot above friendly troops.
So, if you are using archers vs low cavalry army, you want planes, and forests vs high cavalry army. Get the archers behind and to the back of your formation, so that you can move them forward when the melee troops are thoroughly engaged and shoot from flanks.
If you have low archer counts, find a narrow place or a lowland between two hills and make a thick shield wall. If it's between two rocks, your shield wall is pretty much immortal.
F1 orders all groups to follow the next commands.
F3 is the charge command
F6 iirc is the engage command. It's a slower, more stable advance that better preserves your formations.
Come on people, be more responsible towards your troops. F6
F1, F4 for bows lol
I only do that after cav are all gone. Had 200 archers run away from 5 cav...my damn infantry suffered so many losses because of that. Donated all those archers to a garrison to teach them a lesson
Doesn't that only happen when you tell them to advance on the cav? If you force them to advance on only the footsoldiers it should work better
I'll have to try that out
F1 f4 up until the moment they start shooting and backing up. At that point do f1 f6.

New Mount and Blade copypasta just dropped
I need that on a shirt but we'd need like 20 people to get in on it before it's financially viable.
*Send troops*
F6 + player with bow or polearm = win
F6 + ride around the outside with 2 handed axe messing up their morale. Edit: 2 handed axes go round the outside, round the outside, round the outside.
you can make their archers useless
Yea, I am usually looking like a pin cushion by the end of it from eating all the archers arrows, but it works!
get a large shield
Can’t hold a shield when I am swinging that executioner’s axe!
i think shields protect you from arrows even when on your back
Oh yea, I always have the shield on the back, which definitely ends up with arrows stuck to it. I think the shield on the back can also occasionally block melee from the back.

The AI only knows to rawh and yell about bastards. Not an ounce of fear.
Never thought about this, actually hilarious
DEATH!
DEATH!!!!!!
FORTH EORLINGAS!!!!!!!!

Pshhht. Fians don’t “retreat to rearm.” When they run out of arrows, they just transform into dominant heavy infantry.
No ammo Left, Change to Line Breaker or shock Infantry
F1 F3 crew 4 live
Life*
I meant on stream /s
Watch out for the snipers!!!
the WHA- also happy Cake!
It was honestly a joke. Most army commanders have an increased risk of getting sniped. Could have been fun if someone took the bait and was afraid to move in due to sniper assassins. Haha. And thanks! First ever cake congratulations I got.
"bro why are you playing like that? you're on the other end of the map! move in on them!" "dude are you crazy?? we're barely out of range over here!"
F1 + F6, we ball
F1+F6= "fuck it, *y'all* ball" lmaoo
Don't loose
Saving archer ammo eh?
Cavalry can charge a little bit of lines as a treat
I remember the olden days when the Warband was assembled. A simple "F1, F3" would suffice. Now, I have to care for terrain. Oh woe is me! - The Saxons
F6 is enough.
I usuallly lead my cav to destory their cavalry then their archers and then charge the lines as a treat when they';re in melee with my shield wall. The issue with leaving cavalry on F6 is that they'll repeatedly charge the infantry instead and get killed
Didnt they patch where enemies spawn away from main mass of troops now?
Anyone ever F1 F2 to lead the charge? Unless I’m ready to completely turn them loose with F1 F3 that’s what I do to keep them closer
in all honesty, I usually have all follow until I get to a strategic spot, then I have archers above with units in a shield wall (or if there's no height, maybe a circle formation) then I turn them loose with F6, archers stay put (or back up if no height)

I play on PlayStation. What F1 F3 F6 means exactly ? I know its about formations but which formations exactly ?
F1 orders all groups to follow the next commands. F3 is the charge command F6 iirc is the engage command. It's a slower, more stable advance that better preserves your formations.
That fucking reply feels incredibly AI to me. I'm starting to believe in dead internet theory more and more.
No that reply sounds fine, you're alone on this one
Just charge ig
There’s 2 types of players
F1, F2 for real Chads
tfw you have 300 tactics and 300 engineering and you simulate even your sieges
