It’s not even close. Movie is brilliant. TV show is fantastic. Jackie Daytona is some of the best TV you’ll ever see. Blade is second. (Him joining the vampiric council over zoom is hilarious)
Fright Night (1985) One of the best horror films of the 80s. Great performance by Roddy McDowall and the whole cast. Perfect script and one of the best vampires in cinema played by Chris Sarandon.
It’s hard to find now but there was a limited time when they released one of those “unrated” directors cuts of 30 days of night. It’s the best version of that movie. More content and the pacing of the film is better for it.
I was born in 88 so my "core memories" are of the 90s and 00s. I think generally just the style of the dialogue and general chaos of the movie was super different. Reminded me of the goonies.
Yep movies back then were more fun and frenetic, not quite as "deep thinking" and drawn out. Most movies from the 80s, both comedies and dramas, were on average 1 hr 30 to 40 min run time, unlike now where it seems all movies are at least 2.5 hours plus long.
Crazy they only gave cruise the feature line above the title and in bigger text.
Brad Pitt was already an established star at this point and *is* that movie way more than Cruise… good flick though.
Interview with the Vampire is one of my favorite vampire films ever, if not the most. But funny enough, I can't stand Anne Rice's source novel. The prose felt too florid and overwrought and the plot was a lot more rambling and episodic in the book. Cutting it down for the movie benefitted the story IMO.
I feel bad about not liking the book, though, since Rice wrote it to help herself cope with the death of her young daughter from leukemia. Although I'm not a fan of the novel, I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. And if she found some solace through that creative outlet, then I'm glad she wrote it.
The Horror of Dracula 1958 - It’s probably dated for some but Christopher Lee as Dracula is awesome.
I like Interview with a Vampire a lot but as far as the books, The Vampire Lestat, was the one that I thought was really cool.
And Gary Oldman as Dracula was great as well.
Only Lovers Left Alive with Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston. Great acting, fresh take on vampirism and ennui, beautifully filmed. I highly recommend it. It’s not meant to be scary. So…
Lol, Kirsten Dunst didn’t get Key Art billing? That sucks, I mean I know she’s not a big name yet at this time but she’s the third… character. Stephen Rea doesn’t even have lines!
Bram Stoker's Dracula, and it's not even close. Gary Oldman, Keanu Reaves, Sir Anthony Hopkins, Monica Bellucci, Cary Elwes, and Tom Fucking Waits as Renfield. The practical effects were absolutely stunning, and the film managed to lend a touch of humanity to Dracula.
Blade
Some mother fuckers are always trying to ice skate up hill.
One of my favorite movie quotes ever
The best right answer
Blade 2
What We Do In the Shadows! The movie, but the tv show is good too!
It’s not even close. Movie is brilliant. TV show is fantastic. Jackie Daytona is some of the best TV you’ll ever see. Blade is second. (Him joining the vampiric council over zoom is hilarious)
Blade only gets half a vote because he is a Daywalker!
Tucson arizonia
Arizoña
*Smells hedges* “Werewolf piss!”
He sounds like a regular whacko, a real sonovabitch
We’re werewolves not swearwolves
I was coming here to say this!!
Brahm Stoker's Dracula
Finally the right answer
Yes yes yes. That film has everything.
Fright Night (1985) One of the best horror films of the 80s. Great performance by Roddy McDowall and the whole cast. Perfect script and one of the best vampires in cinema played by Chris Sarandon.
The remake was far better than I expected too.
Oh you're so cool, Brewster!
This one, followed by the original Let The Right One In.
This one is great. 30 Days of Night is high up for me as well.
Oh I saw this one time late at night and loved it
It’s hard to find now but there was a limited time when they released one of those “unrated” directors cuts of 30 days of night. It’s the best version of that movie. More content and the pacing of the film is better for it.
Near Dark (1987)
Very underrated movie.
I taught Severen everything he knew, but not everything I know.
From dusk till dawn.
YES. So much more entertaining than crybaby Louie lamenting over dead rats.
Only lovers left alive, Let me in and Shadow of the vampire on top, can't decide for one. Blade trilogy as honorable mention.
Only Lovers Left Alive Probably one of the best movies to communicate what it's like to have lived an immortal life.
And a great sound track / vibes too. I loved all the shots of empty Detroit
Let the right one in
That was hella good.
I like this one a lot, but my favorite is The Lost Boys
I've had Lost Boys on my list for so long, I need to watch it. Your comment is the sign I needed.
Happy to help! 😁
It's always the right time for a rewatch
Its honestly such a fun film. There was apart of me that really wanted to be a lost boy when I first saw it.
Uh, WHAT? Watch it tonight. Ridiculous.
I did watch it, pretty good!
Ok so I watched it. The 80s were DIFFERENT! hahaha.
I take it you weren't around back then? Or were and are nostalgic for a simpler time? Either way it's a fun movie to watch. 😆😁

I love the tight 90 minutes for sure.
Anyone else remember Daybreakers? That was pretty good :P
Whitley Streiber's, The Hunger. Catherine Deneuve, David Bowie.
Held the record for the best lesbian scene in a non-porn film until Mulholland Drive's "there's enough room in this bed for both of us" scene.
Queen of the Damned is a terrible movie, but Lestat is cast perfectly and the soundtrack is amazing.
The book was kind of boring too
I loved Vampire Lestat and was so disappointed in everything after that
The last one I read was memnoch the devil.
I like Interview, but Lost Boys and Bram Stokers Dracula are my favorites.
Near Dark.
Favorite live action: Definitely Interview Favorite animated: Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust

Whoops … forgot the original Let the Right One In. Saw someone else post it and yes, it is the best
Lost boys for fave But best I’ve seen? Near dark
I laugh my ass off when Lestat is on fire
From dusk til dawn
Tied between John Carpenter’s Vampires and From Dusk Till Dawn
I was wondering when I was gonna see some love for John Carpenters Vampires. Love that movie
Van Helsing Probably. Still the best depiction of a werewolf we’ve ever gotten in a feature length movie.
Salem's lot! Can't wait for the new remake to come out.
Crazy they only gave cruise the feature line above the title and in bigger text. Brad Pitt was already an established star at this point and *is* that movie way more than Cruise… good flick though.
The writer wanted River Phoenix instead of Tom Cruise in that movie.
Well… you know… overdoses come when you *should* expect them.

I mean it’s good, but it ain’t no Twilight.
If you like Twilight, you should check out The Last Vampire on Earth.
That cold ain’t the weather. Thats DEATH approaching.
Blade 2
*Humanist Vampire Seeking Consenting Suicidal Person*
Lost Boys was a cool movie.

I'm gonna pull an obscure one, My Best Friend is a Vampire.
Bram Stokers Dracula. That scene where Winona runs out in the rain. 🤌🏾
Other than this Blade & Blood Red Sky
Only Lovers Left Alive with Tilda Swinton and Tom Hiddleston. Great acting, fresh take on vampirism and ennui, beautifully filmed. I highly recommend it. It’s not meant to be scary. So…
Tom Cruise is a douche but I think he did a good job playing Lestat
Near Dark.
Blade
30 Days of Darkness is excellent, too.
I dare anyone to find a better vampire movie than Vampire's Kiss (1988).
Salems Lot
Near Dark. Honorable mention- Lair of the White Worm.
Lol, Kirsten Dunst didn’t get Key Art billing? That sucks, I mean I know she’s not a big name yet at this time but she’s the third… character. Stephen Rea doesn’t even have lines!
Lost Boys
Near Dark. Lance Henrikson, Bill Paxton, Adrian Pasdar. Redneck vampires
The Hunger
John Carpenter’s Vampires!
