So someone once said to me that its because script writers major in english. Which always makes these tv shows and movies so much more disgusting.

He'd wait until their senior year, chaperone the senior trip (about 3 or 4 days in Disney), get a lone hotel room, and then invite the now 18 year old girl. Was caught after over a DECADE of abuse.
It isn't statuatory because of the age, but it *IS* considered "Institutional Rape." Using one's position as a trusted ward of the community's young or vulnerable to engage in sexual acts.
Even though this movie isn't about that, or a situation that could be make a lawyer even consider taking up the case, the very fact that the actions bump up against that potential abuse should be ALL we need to know that it's fucked up.
This, in my mind, is a derliction of duty that all teachers ought uphold.
