Popeye
Take me to Sweethaven, on Malta, back in 1979!
And yes, I know the set still exists as a tourist attraction. I wanna see it with Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall there, when it was new!
In our house we have a TV and movie room with all kinds of movie posters and over the years I have accumulated some odd and end props and when we have visitors over I let them try to figure out what each of the little pieces means. I have an OLD Planter's peanut can which is similar to the one used in The Terminal, have a lot of Blues Brothers items (briefcase with a handcuff on it, a spray can of Air Grade Marine epoxy , Cheese Whiz, Etc.) but the one that people rarely get is a little plastic block "W" from a kid's toy / spelling set.
Movie came out in 93 and I graduated in 94. The similarities between the movie and our high school was kind of funny. Right down to the different characters. Real life Slater was also the best of us.
This was going to be my entry, because I thought it would be fun to pull Peter O'Toole and John Gielgud off to the side and explain to them what it is they've actually gotten themselves into. 😆
I seem to remember hearing Malcolm McDowell tell a story of when Peter O'Toole met Sir John Gielgud on the set and asked, "What's a knight of the realm doing in a porno flick?" So O'Toole may have known... unless I got that wrong. Please correct me if so. I think it was on the Caligula DVD commentary.
Bridge of the USS Enterprise for "Wrath of Khan". Foreknowledge and time travelers are welcomed in that world.
I'd help them "Search for Spock" in the sequel.
Then, they could drop me off in 1987 in ST4 "The Voyage Home".
Always have an escape plan.
Nosferatu.
Filmed in Germany, 1922. Immediately leave the set.
Find Hitler. The Nazi party was just starting to gain speed. Remove him. And the rest isn't history...
A John Ford movie, probably the Searchers, up all night with Ford, the Duke, and Ward Bond drinking whiskey and playing poker, then shooting in the beautiful Monument Valley in the morning.
Since I would immediately be escorted off the lot because I do not belong there I would probably pass on going to an awesome filming and choose based on location and time. So, my pick would be middletown America 1981, whatever is filming there thats where I'd go. For the time traveling benefit, not the movie.
Then I would pretend to have amnesia. Once the government has given me a new identity because they can find no trace of my existence, I would then live with a limitless advantage over everyone else because I know an encylopedias worth of information about the next 30 or so years.
My choice isn't because it's a great groundbreaking movie.
But my choice would be a movie like Eddie Murphy's Dr Doolittle where he plays like all of his family members. I would just watch him get in and out of costume 6 different times to film one scene lol
Fury Road!!! I've been a car guy all of my life and it kind of bugs me to see classic cars hacked up like that, but there are some badass rides in that movie!
If I could take action it would be the set of Twlight Zone movie. I would cause the night shoot which resuled in the death of Vic Morrow and the two Vietnamese girls to get canceled.
I’d like to be on the set of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. One of the funniest and most quotable movies of all time. Powerhouse cast at their peak. McKay kicking off his directing career. I bet that set was a blast.
Mine is a little weird. But I'd go back to the set of Nine Months.
Reason: I was a PA on the set at the Fox Studios for the movie, and I got to meet and spend time with a childhood idol, Robin Williams. Whenever he'd see me (or any of us really, there were half a dozen of us,) he would always take time and ask how we were doing, how was school, ask how our family was doing and even came with me a handful of times to get coffee and lunches for the crew and staff. He wrote us thank you letters that he personally handed us. He was a very sweet, empathetic, and hilarious man. I'd go back to let him know that he had an unbelievable impact on my life and that the world misses him.
It will be a decade in August.
That sounds like it would have been a blast! Glad you got the head that experience! In our lives my wife and I have met quite a lot of celebrities and I found that 99% of them really enjoy it when you just treat them like one of your workmates or like your next door neighbor. Don't talk too much about acting and movies and learn who the *real person* is and you'd be amazed that what will happen! You make Robin Williams sound just like we have him imagined when he is off camera. We miss him also!
Super Mario Bros 1993, would put me in my own town, but in 1992. Get to see the good stuff while it was still around, and hit up a decent used game market while stuff was still dirt cheap.
Any Star Trek movie with kick ass holodecks. Because with holodecks, you have safe access to any and all realities fiction or non-fiction. Star Trek is best answer because it includes all answers.
I would pick an Elvis movie in Hawaii. Not because I am a big Elvis fan or because they were good movies. I just want to go hang out in Hawaii in the 1950's.
American History X... and not for any good reason. Really, WTF happened on that set. I've seen the Alan Smithee documentary but there was so much turmoil and fighting between the director and Ed Norton. Love to know the truth.
Metropolis (1927). Would be great to see the BTS for that film. They say Sergei Eisenstein was involved in filming some key scenes, it would also be cool to snag an original print before it went missing for 80 years, just to see how everything went would be a great experience.
The Empire Strikes Back.
I stood in line for 3 days at 14 years old so I could be in the first showing at the Egyptian Theater on Sunset Blvd in Hollywood.
It was awesome!
I want to see how Rob Zombie brought Halloween from the mystical driven visions by John Carpenter into the real world in 2007.
His movie was my first exposure to Halloween, and I would love to see how he brought a classic to my generation.
Star Wars. Take me back to the OT, with the shoestring budgets and the wild effects.
[удалено]
Right? Wouldn't that be awesome?
Get ready to do lots of cocaine
"Hey, so what are you using as a snow filter on the ice planet of Hoth?" "Oh, that's real snow. The best stuff."
Twilight Zone The Movie, I have to save Vic Morrow and those two kids!
This just in! Vic Marrow, two child actors, and a lost stranger killed in helicopter accident.
You can always just punch John Landis in the face over and over again until he can't give directions.
Popeye Take me to Sweethaven, on Malta, back in 1979! And yes, I know the set still exists as a tourist attraction. I wanna see it with Robin Williams and Shelley Duvall there, when it was new!
That was the first movie I ever saw in a theater.
Popeye will be public domain next year, I think.
Can I intervene in any way? Because if so, The Crow.
Same thing I thought. “Don’t use that gun!”
Yep, this was my first thought, too.
In front of the big “W”.
Hell yea. What a cast.
"I mean, he just sailed right out there!"
I actually haven’t seen it in years. Maybe this weekend. I need a good laugh in my life right now.
Agreed! It's been quite a while since my wife and I have seen that movie!
Totally underrated comment! I've gotta go find that and watch it again! 🤣
Clue me in?
It’s a mad, mad, mad, mad world.
EXT. CORLEONE ESTATE - WEDDING - DAY
That would be something.
This was my choice as well
So you'll take one of the bridesmaids upstairs? 😜
LOL actually Kay (Diane Keaton) is more my type, plus she gets bonus points for being the only character with ethical/moral clarity.
Roman Holiday to meet young Audrey Hepburn
The lord of the rings FotR
Seeing all those incredible costumes and sets irl would be amazing
Back Door Sluts 9
Back Door Sluts 9?!
Oh no, not THAT one!
Better than BDS10!
I too preferred the book!
Jaws or Jurassic Park
Jurassic Park all the fucking way 🤘🏼🦖
Yeah, if it specifically had to be one set from one movie, I'm going for the nighttime Rexy attack on the two Explorers.
Me too .. especially since that was a full animatronic and not CGI, that would have been so fucking cool to see.
Apocalypse Now for sure
Yeah, I would love to be on one of those helicopters when they were filming the village attack scene.
Lol that entire production was a nightmare for everyone involved. Gimme BDS9!
Damn almost like that’s exactly why it would be so interesting
Ocean's 11 (2001). Vegas with Clooney, Pitt, Damon and company? No brainer.
Back to the future.
Home Alone 2, to get to Trump before he had a security detail.
For an autograph? 😅
Dazed and confused
Movie came out in 93 and I graduated in 94. The similarities between the movie and our high school was kind of funny. Right down to the different characters. Real life Slater was also the best of us.
The movie took place in the mid-70s, but still did totally resonate with us 90s teens.

This was going to be my entry, because I thought it would be fun to pull Peter O'Toole and John Gielgud off to the side and explain to them what it is they've actually gotten themselves into. 😆
Always fun to pull on Peter O’Toole.
"The trick is not minding."
Pulp Fiction or The Wizard of Oz

caddyshack. blow and hookers all day
The Exorcist (1973) to gauge the accuracy of The Exorcism (2024).
A John Ford movie, probably the Searchers, up all night with Ford, the Duke, and Ward Bond drinking whiskey and playing poker, then shooting in the beautiful Monument Valley in the morning.

Plot twist: The butterfly effect turns out to be stronger than you anticipated, and everything you know changes the moment you arrive.
I wouldn't be keen on changing anything, only discreetly use my knowledge of the future to create an easy income.
I've taken the universal studios backlog tour a lot in the past 20 years. I'd love to have been there when they filmed the back to the Future films.
Aliens. Lets rock.
Take off, nuke the site from orbit, it's the only way to be sure.
Ben Hur
I want the princess bride experience! They were all over the place!
Did you read Cary's book too? Sounds like it was an absolutely wild time.

The last action hero I want my golden ticket.
9/11. I have to stop it from happening!
My choice isn't because it's a great groundbreaking movie. But my choice would be a movie like Eddie Murphy's Dr Doolittle where he plays like all of his family members. I would just watch him get in and out of costume 6 different times to film one scene lol
> "Eddie Murphy's Dr Doolittle where he plays like all of his family members." I think he did that in the *The Nutty Professor* movies.

Haha I love that pre-scandal makes a difference for you. Just cause he wasn't found out then doesn't make him a different person.
yeah, i guess if its a time machine then it's obviously pre-scandal. It's also that his relationship is torn with that crew.
Meet Me in St. Louis or Wizard of Oz.
Apocalypse Now
Master of Disguise during the turtle scene
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Fury Road!!! I've been a car guy all of my life and it kind of bugs me to see classic cars hacked up like that, but there are some badass rides in that movie!

I go back to Jaws and steal the shark.
I’d like to be on the set of Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy. One of the funniest and most quotable movies of all time. Powerhouse cast at their peak. McKay kicking off his directing career. I bet that set was a blast.

Rocky horror picture show! I'd give anything to be an unconventional conventionalist doing the time warp again
Mine is a little weird. But I'd go back to the set of Nine Months. The Wizard of Oz I want to get a good look at Munchkinland
Bill & Teds Excellent adventure. Then I’d have access to a Time Machine and could go anywhere with the best traveling companions.
Backdoor sluts 9
Super Mario Bros 1993, would put me in my own town, but in 1992. Get to see the good stuff while it was still around, and hit up a decent used game market while stuff was still dirt cheap.

I would pick an Elvis movie in Hawaii. Not because I am a big Elvis fan or because they were good movies. I just want to go hang out in Hawaii in the 1950's.

King Kong (1933)
The Time Machine. Mostly for the lulz.
