Anyone who’s seen fury road and at least one of the new trailers could probably piece together the plot. We all just want to see what kind of crazy new car pranks the guy who made Happy Feet is going to come up with
You're right on point.
You go see a Mad Max movie to see crashing cars and dirty post-apocalyptic muscular men dripped in oil decapitating each other.
You go see a Godzilla to see massive Kaijus fight each other.
That's their gimmick.
... i wont go to the movies just to watch animals talk tho, that's a far too overmade and identityless one.
Yeah I'm not 100% convinced by the trailer, it seems to be lacking the grit of Fury Road.
But it does have Anya Taylor-Joy in it, so I'm reserving judgement based on that alone

FTFY.
(Chris Noonan actually fell out with George Miller because he kept misleading people into believing he'd directed the original Babe instead of just the shitty sequel)
Here’s some fun trivia: while the plot of the Lion King is similar to Hamlet (revolving around a prince who’s father is murdered by his uncle), thematically it’s more in line with some of Shakespeare’s Henriad plays, specifically Henry IV parts 1 and 2, and Henry V. They revolve around Prince Henry, the son of a king who spends all his time goofing off and partying, but then needs to step up once his dad dies and he becomes King Henry V. And those plays actually do have a prequel: Richard II, which is about how the eventual Henry IV starts a civil war against the corrupt and neglectful Richard II. So if the theory holds up, the prequel will be about Mufasa overthrowing a bad king and taking his place.
What are they making? A billion fucking dollars probably! Oh you mean storywise.... did I mention they want a billion dollars? The whole "plot" thing feels secondary.
Ninth overall, but premiered at 7th (Avatar 2 and Spider-man No Way Home outgrossed it). Still wild that it made that much. If Mufasa makes half as much on the same budget it'll be considered reasonably successful.
Just aways remember that when you consider inflation, Gone with the Wind still outweighs most blockbusters made in the last decades
Which in itself can be unbelievable when you think about it
I'm so looking forward to the scene where the guy's like:
-- "Wow, you sure are angry, we should call you Angry-Osa." and then she totally punches him in the balls and he makes a funny face and says
-- "No, wait you're really furi-osa!"
Then they all start fighting and jumping and kicking and then the car asplode!
Well one is for a major character that has a legit backstory to explore meanwhile the otherwise is a prequel for a side character with only a few minutes of screen time.
Honestly I would’ve preferred a movie for Scar!
Furiosa is one of the main characters in comparison to Mufasa, who plays a significant role sure, but he’s not a main character with lots of backstory to explore.
In fact, Scar has far more story than Mufasa
Can somebody explain to me what's the point of Mufasa, I saw the teaser right now and saw it has a lot of action and dramatic scenes. Why do they matter when we all know he lives at the end and we know when and how he dies? I mean these action scenes will make no sense, since there's no suspense when we already know what's going to happen
Honestly? My one request for all these “live action” versions has been to either make them sequels or prequels to the animated originals. I was confused as to why they would just re-do the films that not only already existed, but we had complete access to.
My point being: it’s a semi-original story derived from one of their most popular IPs. At least it’s not a rehash.
You may know how it ends up, but it seems that the twist is said in the trailer: he’s an orphan.
My prediction is that Scar is the real son of the king, Mufasa is adopted, but Scar is a big meanie throughout so the king appoints street-lion with a heart of gold as king and that dictates their relationship forever.

I don’t want to see either movie to be honest. Both aren’t necessary narrative wise.
If the MC in Furiosa movie wasn’t her, I’d be interested but I just don’t care. I know where the story goes and ends.
That’s the biggest issue with prequels. We know where the story is gonna end.

My lack of interest in Furiosa's backstory is outweighed by my desire to see cool post-apocalyptic car stunts.
Yeah. Call me when Mufasa starts pole vaulting from car to car
I'd be there opening night. I'd break into the fucking premiere.
Or when Timon and Pumba play a flamethrowing guitar.
Anyone who’s seen fury road and at least one of the new trailers could probably piece together the plot. We all just want to see what kind of crazy new car pranks the guy who made Happy Feet is going to come up with
Idk I just want to see how she becomes a War Boy, most of them aren't girls
The term War Boy is so sexist. It’s 2024. The correct label is POW: Person of War.
And Chris Hemsworth with a funny nose
My lack of interest in Furiosa’s backstory is outweighed by my desire to see my wife Anya Taylor Joy.
Our wife
Maybe communism is good
She still didn’t make any sense being in Dune II though
Dune II of your parents at the same time huh huh
who cares bro would you complain if your crush appeared in a movie even if it wasn't justified
I also love Sid the sloth

Salem is the exception to the rule
Imagine Salem as Ken in the Barbie movie 🥰
Yeah, this really is a win-win situation. It’s either gonna be good or really good.
Sounds like Narnia on DMT
The stunts look pretty fake and CG this time around but I hope I'm wrong
Idk I can understand the change to a more VFX heavy shoot with how awful Fury Roads production was. I have trust in George to pull it off
Yeah I'm not 100% convinced by the trailer, it seems to be lacking the grit of Fury Road. But it does have Anya Taylor-Joy in it, so I'm reserving judgement based on that alone
The one that I saw looked like ass tbh. I'm still excited for it, but it put a damper on my expectations
Yeah it was a little weird how overloaded with CGI it was, when Fury Road was lauded for its practical effects
Tbf shooting fury road was such a pain the ass for everyone involved that I can understand why they switched from it

Chill out man he's not calling for decapitation via helicopter or anything.
That said, it would be cool to see
Twilight Zone: The Movie (1983)
John Landis did that already during the Twilight Zone production
That was the joke, well done.

I didn't know Shakespeare wrote a prequel.
We already had that: it's called Madagascar 2 (2008) ![gif](giphy|MYEXbYzn44C1G)
Another fun fact: Hamlet is inspired by the nordic legend of Amleth, which in turn inspired the movie Northman
Fun fact: Amleth was inspired by Avatar
What?
Cultural. Impact.
Fun fact: Anya Taylor Joy is in the Northman *and* Furiosa

Yeah that one!
fun fact, amleth backwards is hamlet

**THE FUCK ARE THEY MAKING ABOUT MUFASA?** Isnt there some weird as fuck semi canon prequel lion king book or am I tripping
What are they making? A billion fucking dollars probably! Oh you mean storywise.... did I mention they want a billion dollars? The whole "plot" thing feels secondary.
I think the last 3d lion king is like the first or second highest grossing film of all time. It's insane how much money it made
Ninth overall, but premiered at 7th (Avatar 2 and Spider-man No Way Home outgrossed it). Still wild that it made that much. If Mufasa makes half as much on the same budget it'll be considered reasonably successful.
I forgot about the avatars lol. I was never a big fan of them but they did make a ton
something something cultural impact
Just aways remember that when you consider inflation, Gone with the Wind still outweighs most blockbusters made in the last decades Which in itself can be unbelievable when you think about it
Not even most, all. It's insane.

Michael Waldron's Furiosa
SHOT THRU THE HEART *thud thud thud* My name is furiosa… and I’m going on road of fury…! YOU GAVE LOVE A BAD NAME
If they had just done this in the first place instead of the live action remake I'd probably be interested
one is a live action Disney prequel and is undoubtably going to be shit, hope this helps
Spoiler Mufasa dies
Well one is for a major character that has a legit backstory to explore meanwhile the otherwise is a prequel for a side character with only a few minutes of screen time. Honestly I would’ve preferred a movie for Scar!
That is a movie for scar?
Is Scar the main protagonist? Then no
He's the second-billed character I believe tbf
Your description reads like it could be about either of those movies lol.
In what world is Furiosa the side character of Fury Road..?
Furiosa is one of the main characters in comparison to Mufasa, who plays a significant role sure, but he’s not a main character with lots of backstory to explore. In fact, Scar has far more story than Mufasa
A lot of great directors have taken the bag from Disney to make some mediocre crap.
YMS about to go on a murder-spree
He hasn’t even posted his reaction yet, he’s gonna morb
Over 5 mufasillion dollars on release
It's not prequel fatigue, it's bad movie fatigue.
How are people gonna get mufasa without moonlight first ?
Furiosa isn't a beloved character, she just existed in a beloved movie.
I love her.
I do be loving her tho
pussy

This is true to every - prequel - any movie where you know the genre won't allow to kill the protagonist
Not that I'm a fan but you can say the same about any action prequel
Honestly? My one request for all these “live action” versions has been to either make them sequels or prequels to the animated originals. Why didn’t they just make a movie about Scar?
Newsflash: it's the same movie
Why not just call SCAR and have it be him and not Mufasa
Can somebody explain to me what's the point of Furiosa, I saw the teaser right now and saw it has a lot of action and dramatic scenes. Unless the trailer was a shitpost they made in blender and had nothing to do with the actual movie, Furiosa is gonna suck
Looks like you don't have it in you to make things epic
This is gonna age horribly mark my words future people
I sure hope so
How many billions do we think it will make?

you aint a true furiosa-head
pretty confident that there's bigger issues here, namely the movie with the lion
I seriously think that Mufasa doesn’t look that bad. Some great shots in there
