This deck dies on turn 4 or 5 to any competitive aggro deck. They obviously don't play much standard. People often don't give enough credit to how fast the format can be. It's why very few midrange strategies are viable right now. There are a LOT of decks where you simply lose on turn 4 if they get to go first. Grats you have a 3-drop 2/2 you have to sacrifice as a blocker or gets nuked. These plays do nothing in standard constructed. Not even in the realm of viability.
I did play this combo in limited on prerelease weekend and it was a lot of fun. Most players would have cut Proft's Eidetic Memory. but it generates good value.
Is that why Dimir, Azorius and Esper midrange stuffs have been meta for months? If aggro is so rampant how come control and domain strategies (literal basic land ramping and hardcast bombs) are top of the barrel? Are you ignoring Ledger Shredders, early removal spells (Cut Down, go for the throat, even bitter triumph) and simply having so much card draw to quickly find answers and stabilize?
I've thought about throwing it into my [[Ukkima]]/[[Cazur]] saboteur deck but haven't found a spot for it yet - just not sure if skulk is good enough evasion for that deck
It's nice that you can scale its power/toughness when you cast it to get past any blockers on the field. If something smaller hits the field, just draw cards to get it where it needs to be. It won't work all the time, but I still think it's underrated.
Oh yeah I definitely see the potential. The more I've thought about it I just don't know if it fits *my* deck since it'd be continually buffed by the likes of [[Anduril, Narsil]] and [[Drana, Liberator]], making skulk progressively worse throughout the game meaning my [[Coastal Piracy]] effects and the like would be less likely to trigger. Definitely still thinking about it though, as well as [[Elusive Otter]]
I think with Standard season coming to an end, it will be hard for any of these to shoot up super hard. However, I do think the enchantment is extremely slept upon in Commander, and has potential for Pioneer.
I’ve already started seeing this deck on the ladder on Arena. I also really like Proft - I bought a few copies for a couple Commander decks including my Historic Jhoira where it fits perfectly. Might pick up a few more of these - thanks!

Doesn't this deck just immediately fold to almost any list running Sheoldred?
Deck runs their own Sheoldreds and has removal in main/side to defeat opposing Sheoldreds

It matters for demand. Pioneer starts next month, Sorin is about to hit $50 and Amalia is already a dollar.

Picked up a stack of Steamcore Scholar for $5. Seems powerful, even if this isn't the shell for it.
