Hey everyone, here's a new Weekly Winners. Just like last week we see stuff moving because of Obeka. And also just like last week I had to write this article yesterday instead of right after the interests come online. This is since I'm still on holiday and in a completely different timezone. Nevertheless, I'll keep trying to provide you with your weekly shot of winners from here!

All I can say is that I feel lucky that I decided to retool my Queen Marchesa deck to include the new courts before all these Obeka spikes happened. It's my only 100% foil deck so it would have been very sad to see them jump so much.
I agree. There's been chatter about it for longer. I get the feeling that Legacy is pushing the price over the edge. Not too many people follow Premodern maybe, but they do know Legacy?
There are 0 copies of Tsabo's Web in any current Legacy list: it's not a Legacy card. Search for it on MTGtop8 if you don't believe me. Someone is buying Premodern cards to speculate on.
I think premodern players have been snapping it up too, I’ve seen it in a lot of lists from the start of this year after some meta shifts, it’s mainboardable in some decks as well as a strong sideboard option against multiple high tier decks.
I have 2 copies in my legacy "collection" because I used to run it in MUD sideboards. That deck doesn't really exist anymore, but this card is still legacy power level even if it doesn't currently make the cut.
Honestly surprised it doesn't see some play given how it badly it weakens Urza's Saga + incidentally hits kamigawa channel lands. Sideboard slots are just precious
I don't even play Legacy, but a quick look at mtgstocks and you can easily see that a lot recent lists do run it in the sideboard: Temur Delver, 4 Color Control, Death Shadow, Grixis Aggro, 4c Delver and Stiflenought. It's mostly just a 1-of it seems though. But with an older, fairly obscure card demand for even just a few copies here and there can move the needle.
You said it wasn't played. Clearly it is. It doesn't have to top8 large tournaments to drive some demand (not just from players but also speculators that are looking at lists that are putting up results even if they may not top8 larger tournaments). It simply doesn't matter if the card is played in the best, most optimized lists (obviously the more it is played, the higher the demand but that's not the point here).
Sorry dude. It’s pretty common knowledge that the very strict rules state that a card can’t have any value until it cracks the top 8 in a tournament, but ONLY if the tournament has more than 16 players, but less that 69 players (anything over 69 voids rules, and opens the card up to heavy sanctions by the council of made up nonsense.
Again, I’m sorry, but I don’t make the rules.
🤯 I didn’t know that only cards in the top 8 decks have any value. Those cards in the 9th and 10th place decks are worthless - sorry, thems be the rules 🤷🏻♂️.
It's literally just premodern where this sees play with any frequency. I think people are overestimating how widespread something like premodern is going to end up in actuality, so I am not a buyer on these, definitely sell into spikes.

Again not hating on these alternate formats, but a lot of the participants 1) are people that already like that format partly because they had/have a lot of these cards years ago 2) there is not likely to experience the same level of popularity as other formats that are way more commonly played, can more easily be found in stores. I'm in one of the biggest cities in the US and I cannot find either premodern or canlander events near me. I actually checked, I'd have to drive 120 miles to find a premodern event in the next month, and it's one store doing it, and zero stores doing the latter.
Yeah, in general, support for anything outside of Commander/Standard/Pioneer/Modern is pretty dire. The people who’re interested in the more out there formats like Legacy/Vintage do tend to be very interested in the nicest version of the cards they play.
Everyone I know who plays Canlander in paper proxies everything but their favorite deck, and that favorite deck tends to have every fancy printing possible.

He is better now but had 2 days worth of seizures that culminated in a night at the EU where we are going to lean toward him having epilepsy based on what they saw and what I can afford to have tested. So now he is nice and medicated and I am down $500 once insurance pays their 70% so wheeee. So, everyone, keep the specs coming, I need some quick flipping money haha. Don’t be surprised if half the TCG inventory of Contaminant Grafter disappears in the next 12 hours, I’ve been watching that pretty closely for a couple days now.
Oh, it's the new Obeka that's spiking [[Extravagant Replication]]. Having had it since I first got the precon on release, I was wondering why it suddenly tripled in price.

I believe I read the bot's rulings on how/where/when at some point, and think it only provides one card at a time though I could be wrong...
I can't believe my "bad" gift bundle opening turn to be a pretty good one.
I got 4 color court (didn't get only white one) that time the price is like 1-5$ or something
I know that those cards are under value, didn't expect them to skyrock like this tho
It made its largest jump this morning and wasn't high up on the Interests yesterday. Like I mentioned in a different comment I'm forced to write articles a day earlier while on holiday. Good chance I'll write about it next week
LCI was the last set they did commander exclusive cards in packs. Starting with MKM and Play Boosters, there are no more unique commander cards obtainable only in packs.
BIG is standard legal, Breaking News is like every other bonus sheet in that if a card from the sheet is already in standard, those are legal, otherwise they’re not.
I’m not sure what that all has to do with my comment though when I was just reassuring to you that the 8 or so commander cards are not a thing anymore, since you said you lost track.

I agree with you 100%. Definitely a great uncommon at rare quality. IMO. I picked up 4 regular and 4 foil prior to the spike and I’m glad I did.
