I wanted to be a Megan because I knew two cool girls named Megan and thought if I had been named Megan, I would’ve been popular too (this is 3rd grader logic here).
haha i came to comment this, megan was my dream name when i was in like 2nd-3rd grade- it aligned with the zebra print and justice-brand-wearing elementary schooler that i dreamed to be lmaooo
Me too only I preferred the spelling Meghan because it was more unique. I got it from Little Women, I was obsessed with the nickname Meg but didn't like Margaret as a full name.
I am having boy girl twins. I liked Vivian and Dominic while I was a little girl. I decided to name them Dominic and Francesca. But I still love the name Vivian.
I have a white family member whose husband happens to be Black... she has always insisted that if they have kids, they'll be named Cocoa and Mocha. 😬
Luckily, husband has no desire to have children, and more sense than to go along with that naming scheme even if they did.
Can’t imagine why husband doesn’t want kids /s
I have mixed race Asian kids and they just have names I would use anyway (my husband is much more attached to the general Aussie culture than the Chinese culture).
Can’t imagine naming my girl something like “china”
I commented above about having biracial babies, and this infuriates me. It’s such fetish behavior.
Edit: maybe it’s more that she’s thinking the babies would be sooo “novel” more than it is fetishizing. Had to check myself.
I am in a mixed race couple and have twins. They are *exactly* the same color, and I now know exactly what I’d look like if I were black and my partner knows exactly what he’d look like as a light skin
Doesn’t even have to be mixed race couples. Can be anyone who has mixed race genes in their background come back up. Like one partner who looks white, but has a black grandparent. Genetics are so wild.
Eh, doesn't bother me and doesn't seem to bother her either! Its kinda my own fault, I was asked my opinion on Isabelle and I said, oh no, everyone is calling their kid Isabelle at the moment, she'll probably be the 5th or 6th in her class! And here we are
I used to love Peter Pan and loved Princess Tiger Lily so much that I also thought that it would be a perfect name for a human being. In the end I changed my mind and decided to call my cuddly toy snow tiger „Tiger Lily“.
I worked at Target and I kept wondering why they'd page Elodie but someone else would show up. I finally asked who Elodie was. They had been saying L O D for Lead on Duty.
As a millennial, Elodie will always be “the Hills” girl that worked for Bolthouse and backstabbed Heidi by quitting the day of an event. I was totally team Elodie.
I was OBSESSED with the name Jessica, and then Amanda. Every time I met another little girl with one of these names I wanted to be their best friend. Their was a period in first grade where my best friend was a girl named Amanda and I remember at the time being upset that she was always mean to me, and my mom kept asking “why are you friends with this girl??” It was literally just for the name 😭
Haha one of my best friends is Greek and she and her sister have Artemis and Athena as their middle names. She said her dad needed everyone to know that his daughters were VERY GREEK 🤣
Portia is a great name. One of my favorite heroines from Shakespeare. She was the protagonist of the Merchant of Venice. Hold on, from Wikipedia “Portia is a female protagonist of William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. A rich, beautiful, intelligent heiress of Belmont, she is bound by the lottery set forth in her father's will, which gives potential suitors the chance to choose among three caskets.” Excellent play.
When I was really young, I thought Naomi and Cleo were the coolest names. I don’t think I cared about boy names at the time.
Then in elementary school, I went through a phase where my favorite names were Hannah, Katie (Katelyn), and Ella (Elizabeth) for girls and I was obsessed with Nathan and Ryan for boys.
In middle school, it was Gabby (Gabrielle) and Grace for girls and Liam, Tommy (Tommy), and Jamie (James) for boys.
In high school, it was Evie (Evelina), Lucy (Lucia), Violet, and Caro (Caroline) for girls, and for boys I still liked Tommy and James (no more Jamie), and I also fell in love with the name Will (William) for a long time.
In college, I was really into Elodie and Maisie for girls, and for boys, my love for Will continued and I also added in Sam (Samuel).
I still like most of these names except Cleo, Katie/Katelyn, and Ryan. The only ones I would say are still among my favorites are Will, Nathan, Hannah, and Maisie.
Back when I was a kid (in the 90s) I thought it was SO COOL that Nadia and Aidan were the same name backwards. And Aidan was not really heard of back then, at least not to what it became in the 2000s. So I liked that both were uncommon names too
Ironically, the names of men who’d later mess up my life. I always wonder if it’s some sort of butterfly effect/twelve monkeys type thing.
Like if future self tried to warn me and said “stay away from Andy! You got that? Andy!!”
Then present me named her pet goldfish Andy, and thought of all the different ways you can spell Andie, Andee, Andy, etc.
Then when I met Andy I was screwed. (Fake name).
Same with me! Loved this one really random name, spelled with a C, then dated a guy with the same super uncommon name spelled with a K. Boy was that a ride. Will not be using that name.
For similar reasons, Harper and Kennedy. I used to LOVE both of those names, but as a former teacher, they got way too trendy (and kind of around the same time too). Now there are way too many Harpers and Kennedys in 5th-8th grade.
Susanna was my favorite name for as long as I can remember. I never had children but I still think that name is so pretty. I've also always loved the name Cecily.
Charlie has always been my favorite boy name. Still is. Although now I like the name Charlie for a boy or a girl. Just love that name.
i loved the name cecily ever since i read it in a nancy drew book! my mom insisted it was pronounced like sicily but my dad and i were insistent on its actual pronunciation. and we were right!
I loved the name Emily. In my mind I was going to have a little red headed girl named Emily as my first born. Turns out that aside from a few exceptions, every Emily I’ve ever met has been an insufferable bitch. Sorry to all the non-bitchy Emilys out there.
When I was a child/teen it was Britney, Tiffany, Helena, Charlotte, Jessica, Aiden. Those might date me a bit. I still would have named my daughter Helena if my husband hadn’t vetoed it.
I LOVE the name Serena! It was high on my list for my current pregnancy but every time I brought it up my husband would ask “like Serena Williams?” And I’m like “No! Vanderwoodsen!” And that officially got it vetoed 😢
I love Calliope. I always liked the idea of Calliope and Cassiopeia for twins. Could just call them Callie and Cassie for short. My partner would never go for it though lol.
I was thrilled, after almost 20 years of adoring the name Evelyn, to find that my husband also loved the name. Even more excited have the opportunity to give the name to a daughter. I didn’t get my first pick for middle name (Marie) but that worked out for the best because I feel like Marie has become an immensely popular middle name recently and unfortunately Evelyn has become much more popular in the years since I heard it and fell in love.
Clearly, you have (or at least had) good taste
In 8th grade (1989) I picked Elizabeth as my confirmation name because I thought it was the most beautiful name. Guess I never changed, it’s my 12 year old daughter’s name.
I like the name but it has forever been ruined for me by the only Arden I’ve ever know who mentioned that he would walk every Muslim off a cliff if he could within 30 minutes of meeting him… dude grew up and lived in the same small 700 person rural town his whole life and I doubt he’s ever even met anyone non Christian. Ugh.
In 6th and 7th grade i was obsessed with the name Chloe. Then in 8th grade was obsessed with the name Grace. Also was a big fan of the name Bay at the time. 9th and 10th was obsessed with the name Amelie and Meilani. 11th i think it was Cecilia and Charlotte.
12th grade I was obsessed with the name Francesca but my dad said if i named my kid that it would be disrespectful to him so i guess that name obsession ended pretty quickly. At that age I also loved Chiara/Ciara/Kiara
have always been obsessed with the name Atticus ... not even because of To Kill A Mockingbird !!! Atticus was the name of an actor i really liked from a tv show (atticus mitchell on my babysitter's a vampire hahahah) . changed my life .
As a kid, I wanted to use Eleanor, Amelia, Charlotte, Adelaide, and Theodocia - the last two being family names. I was thoroughly surprised to learn that every other elder Millennial felt similarly, and most of them procreated before I did. We used other family names for our daughter 😂
I’ve always LOVED Adelaide but I don’t ever tell it to people I meet in real life because I still maybe want to use it and I don’t want anyone I know to “steal” it from me! 🙈
One of my Godson’s name is Aiden and one of my friends now has a Grandson named Aiden. Also special shout out to my other Godson Jayden, my ex boyfriend’s son was Jayden, my baby cousin named Kayden and one of my former foster daughters has a son named Kayden. 🤣
this is back in the 70s… for some reason, my mom had to put me in daycare for a few days. i became friends with this kid named Rod. a thought it was soooooo cool. Rod.
I was super obsessed with the name Clara and wanted that to be my name, I'm 90% sure that started because of the Nutcracker, more specifically the Barbie Nutcracker movie
Sara. I wanted that to be my name, later I named one of my cats Sara. I found out later it was one of the names my mom loved and my dad hated (which was a trend for them, she liked really great & classic names and he wanted trendy ones).
I still think it's a lovely name.
I remember I was obsessed with the name Natasha when I was like 8 or 9. I thought it was just the prettiest name. I still think it’s a good name, although not really my style anymore
I was obsessed with the name Kimberly, I made all my friends call me that. When I was a bit older I wanted to change my name to Isaflo because it had all my favorite letters in it. I also really like James and Felix.
I was obsessed with musicals, especially The Sound of Music, so I wanted to have seven kids named Liesl, Friedrich, Brigitta, Kurt, Louisa, Marta, and Gretl.
I wanted to be a Megan because I knew two cool girls named Megan and thought if I had been named Megan, I would’ve been popular too (this is 3rd grader logic here).
A very uncool Megan here - the name wasn't a guarantee for social success, haha!
💙🙂
haha i came to comment this, megan was my dream name when i was in like 2nd-3rd grade- it aligned with the zebra print and justice-brand-wearing elementary schooler that i dreamed to be lmaooo

Me too only I preferred the spelling Meghan because it was more unique. I got it from Little Women, I was obsessed with the nickname Meg but didn't like Margaret as a full name.
My mom named me Megan based off of that character!
Nah that logic still stands. Personally, I think the Meghans with the ‘h’ were the coolest.
I feel so loved rn🥹
I know a girl whose parents named her Mehgan and she hated it for the misspelling.
🤷♀️gan
So funny. I used to think I was the nerdiest bc my name was Meghan. I used to wish I had a spicier name like Vanessa lmao.
I used to want my name to be RHONDA 😂😂😂 fucking RHONDA. I think I was like 8 years old.
Lmfao I wanted to be a Miranda so badly. I used to even sign it on homework etc and the school had to ask me to stop
That's my name! I've always loved my name too.
My husband pushed for our daughter to be Rhonda. I had to fight so hard against it. This was 33 years ago. She is very thankful.
But you get the really catchy Beach Boys song! Help Me, Rhonda 🙃
I just met a woman named Esperhonda (ess-pa-rhon-da.) She goes by the full name, but I couldn’t stop thinking about all of the potential nicknames.
Not Esperanza?
That’s what I thought at first, but she said her name twice. Esperhonda has to be a spin on Esperanza.
Maybe her parents were hoping for a Honda?
Wild. I think I like it?
HAHAHA 💀
I thought I could have twins and name them Ebony and Ivory.
I am having boy girl twins. I liked Vivian and Dominic while I was a little girl. I decided to name them Dominic and Francesca. But I still love the name Vivian.
Vivian is a great name! I have an aunt Vivian, and I always loved the way it sounded and looked.
Does she live in Bel Aire?
Woah weird - I am 9 months pregnant with my son who will be named Dominic… and my number one choice if he had been a girl was Francesca!
That makes me think of those mixed race couples who have twins where one is really light and the other really dark…
I have a white family member whose husband happens to be Black... she has always insisted that if they have kids, they'll be named Cocoa and Mocha. 😬 Luckily, husband has no desire to have children, and more sense than to go along with that naming scheme even if they did.
Can’t imagine why husband doesn’t want kids /s I have mixed race Asian kids and they just have names I would use anyway (my husband is much more attached to the general Aussie culture than the Chinese culture). Can’t imagine naming my girl something like “china”
Yikes. The racial micro aggressions there are really rough. I’m so glad they aren’t having kids.
I genuinely do like the name Ivory, but our surname is White… and that just seems cruel 😅
lol. i’ve met two white women in my life named Ebony.
I loved a semi mix of the two: Avery. I still really like it
For some reason I was obsessed with the name Shelly when I was really little. I thought her full name would be Shellerina ☠️
Now going to demand that the Shelly I know start going by Shellerina, it's perfect lol
I guess that's my new name now. 🤣 Never met anyone obsessed with my name
ah dammit I should've chose shellerina as my username😩
For some reason 12 yr old me wanted to be called 'Blue'
Haha any correlation to Blue’s clues ?
No, it was because of Dakota Blue Richards
Blues Clues made/makes me want Paprika for a daughter
Blue is my favorite color and I used to entertain naming potential children Navy, Teal and Royal lol.
Same, at 12 and everything
I was obsessed with Vera for my daughter when i was like 14 and my mom would always be like "Vera? Are you SURE?" with mild disgust 😭
i honestly really love the name vera i think it’s super pretty
My cousin is naming her daughter Veda and I love it.
HAHA classic mom brutal honesty. What names do you like now ?

Tiger Lily 😐
My mom had a student named Taryarlily ( meant to be Tiger Lily but the parents misspelled it badly).
My goodness how do you even pronounce that !??
I’m assuming “Tiger Lily” considering that’s what they attempted to name her.
oh god
Even the tiger part!? Lol funny enough I watched Peter pan yesterday.
yeah haha she would’ve been tiger for short
One of my sisters is Tyger
I am so sorry
Eh, doesn't bother me and doesn't seem to bother her either! Its kinda my own fault, I was asked my opinion on Isabelle and I said, oh no, everyone is calling their kid Isabelle at the moment, she'll probably be the 5th or 6th in her class! And here we are
I ran into a kid Tiger Lily at a play place a few years ago. Ugh. And a Khaleesi at the same place.
I knew a Tiger Lily who is super cool and totally suits her name lol
There was a tiger lily on love island US toast year lol
I used to love Peter Pan and loved Princess Tiger Lily so much that I also thought that it would be a perfect name for a human being. In the end I changed my mind and decided to call my cuddly toy snow tiger „Tiger Lily“.
Makes me think of the geldof family!
Mufasa, my reasoning was that they wouldn’t get bullied with a name like that. I now think I was very wrong
REMEMBER WHO YOU ARE..!!
I was really into Elodie, which feels a bit clunky to me now, but not bad.
Haha aw you poor thing . Yeah Amandas are known for their cool/ mean girl vibe xD
My best friend growing up was named Amanda and she had an older sister named Jessica! Always thought the names sounded good together.
I am a Jessica and my best friend since middle school is Amanda
Artemis for a girl 😭
I know a number of kids named after Greek gods. Artemis is fair game.
Yeah I know but it’s ok, I ended up falling in love with Athena and Persephone as names more than Artemis. :)
Haha one of my best friends is Greek and she and her sister have Artemis and Athena as their middle names. She said her dad needed everyone to know that his daughters were VERY GREEK 🤣
I graduated with a female Artemis and a MALE Artemis
I’ve always loved the name Emma.
Emma is a cute classic !
I love Emma and Emmy
Emmy is adorable!
Valerie, Veronica,Daphne, and Tabitha. I was a child of the 70s.
I think Daphne is still a good option! I like that name
One of these is my name, so I feel included lol. Born in 2004 btw
Hahaha this is so bad but when I was a teenager I wanted a baby girl called Hippie-Moon
Lol well that would be a cute online username.
Good point. Definitely not a good name for an actual human. One of the many reasons I am glad I didn't become a teen mum
Portia, i wrote it on all my notebooks, hate it now lol
Lol that name reminds me of the car brand Porsche
Our local garage had daughters Porsche and Mercedes.
Hi ellen
Portia is a great name. One of my favorite heroines from Shakespeare. She was the protagonist of the Merchant of Venice. Hold on, from Wikipedia “Portia is a female protagonist of William Shakespeare's The Merchant of Venice. A rich, beautiful, intelligent heiress of Belmont, she is bound by the lottery set forth in her father's will, which gives potential suitors the chance to choose among three caskets.” Excellent play.
I used to love the name Lois 😭
That name always makes me think of Family Guy lol
peeeta the hawrse is heeeyah
It makes me think of Malcolm in the Middle! edited for typo
A guy I went to high school with has a new daughter named Lois like????
I like Lois.
Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup🫣
When I was really young, I thought Naomi and Cleo were the coolest names. I don’t think I cared about boy names at the time. You really got to work back then on names lol I love the name Maisie it is adorable .
I’ve always wanted to name girl twins Lettie and Maggie- Lettuce and Maggot as their full names 😅
You had me in the first half. Dropped the ball in the second half😂
I found them as names in a will in like 1500 something and just thought it was hilarious 😅
Shannon, Morgan, Ava, Sophia, Jack, Aidan, Ryan
If Aiden wasn’t so popular now I would’ve wanted to name my son that still.
Same for me and Jack
Annabelle and Isabelle
Classics !
Was 100% certain I would name a son “Caillou” but now realise how much I was setting my kid up to fail
I loved the show Caillou growing up but good call, I can see a kid being named that but not once they grow up.
Back when I was a kid (in the 90s) I thought it was SO COOL that Nadia and Aidan were the same name backwards. And Aidan was not really heard of back then, at least not to what it became in the 2000s. So I liked that both were uncommon names too
I never realized this till now lol
Evangeline, Laine, Chloe, Noah
I loved Evangeline too!! Lol now I would never, due to the religious context
I looooved Laura
[удалено]
Men do it ALL THE TIME.
Brielle. It’s not even on the list now 😂
I thought Roxanne/Roxy was THE edgiest, coolest, most BADASS name 😂 soOoO rock and roll 🤘🏼I was obsessed
Atlas which is really popular now and Tiburon which is shark in Spanish. My kids have very normal names lol
Ironically, the names of men who’d later mess up my life. I always wonder if it’s some sort of butterfly effect/twelve monkeys type thing. Like if future self tried to warn me and said “stay away from Andy! You got that? Andy!!” Then present me named her pet goldfish Andy, and thought of all the different ways you can spell Andie, Andee, Andy, etc. Then when I met Andy I was screwed. (Fake name).
Same with me! Loved this one really random name, spelled with a C, then dated a guy with the same super uncommon name spelled with a K. Boy was that a ride. Will not be using that name.
I hate when people ruin names for me 😭
Olivia and call her Livi. This was before Olivia was popular and now I could never do it.
Yeah someone posted yesterday they wanted names similar to Olivia since Olivia is so popular lol
Bolivia
Omg! Thanks for that laugh!
Olivia is a beautiful name and it is popular for a reason.
For similar reasons, Harper and Kennedy. I used to LOVE both of those names, but as a former teacher, they got way too trendy (and kind of around the same time too). Now there are way too many Harpers and Kennedys in 5th-8th grade.

i loved the name cecily ever since i read it in a nancy drew book! my mom insisted it was pronounced like sicily but my dad and i were insistent on its actual pronunciation. and we were right!
I still would have named my daughter Helena if my husband hadn’t vetoed it.
my only gripe with helena is pronunciation. is it like helAYna or is it HELehna
Haha, that is exactly what my husband said and why he vetoed it
Theo and Chloe. My kids are Leon, Max (Maxwell), Cain, and in under one month Ruby ♡
Thalia because I was a theater nerd.
Lysandra and Lysander
When I was around 5 or 6 I thought the most beautiful name in the world was Crystal Ruby Diamond.
I see you liked gems lol
Madison and now it’s every child under 10. Ruined it for me 🤣
I loooved the names Lila (after Lila Q on General Hospital) and Kahlen (after a contestant on ANTM). I was a child of varied tastes.
Emily, Alexa, Serena, Carter, Paige, Hannah
I hate that people associate Alexa with Amazon now. For me I think Alexa Chung and it gives me such cool girl vibes because of that.
I just named my baby Serena. In the hospital they asked if her middle name was vanderwoodsen haha
I LOVE the name Serena! It was high on my list for my current pregnancy but every time I brought it up my husband would ask “like Serena Williams?” And I’m like “No! Vanderwoodsen!” And that officially got it vetoed 😢
Andromeda, Atalanta, Calliope, Thalia, Clio (I was obsessed with greek mythology)
I’m not having kids but if I did I would name a girl Thalia I loveeeeee it
I love Calliope. I always liked the idea of Calliope and Cassiopeia for twins. Could just call them Callie and Cassie for short. My partner would never go for it though lol.
I have a friend who named their daughter Calliope, she's about 8 now!
I love Andromeda, Andie for short!
Evelyn and Emily
I was thrilled, after almost 20 years of adoring the name Evelyn, to find that my husband also loved the name. Even more excited have the opportunity to give the name to a daughter. I didn’t get my first pick for middle name (Marie) but that worked out for the best because I feel like Marie has become an immensely popular middle name recently and unfortunately Evelyn has become much more popular in the years since I heard it and fell in love. Clearly, you have (or at least had) good taste
I apparently named several of my dolls Ashley. That tells you what era I was born into.
In 8th grade (1989) I picked Elizabeth as my confirmation name because I thought it was the most beautiful name. Guess I never changed, it’s my 12 year old daughter’s name.
Elizabeth is such a lovely name , I don’t think it will ever die out.
Arden.
Ugh.
Adam and Cory for boys. Literally no idea where they came from, and no I never watched boy meets world
I so badly wished my name was Ashley. It was the ultimate tomboy name (to me). My future children were going to be Micah and Olivia (bleh).
Jewel I thought it was so glamorous and pretty
In 6th and 7th grade i was obsessed with the name Chloe. Then in 8th grade was obsessed with the name Grace. Also was a big fan of the name Bay at the time. 9th and 10th was obsessed with the name Amelie and Meilani. 11th i think it was Cecilia and Charlotte. 12th grade I was obsessed with the name Francesca but my dad said if i named my kid that it would be disrespectful to him so i guess that name obsession ended pretty quickly. At that age I also loved Chiara/Ciara/Kiara
Wait why would Francesca be disrespectful? Was it his Ex’s name ? I MUST KNOW 😂
His name is Frank and I said I wanted to name my daughter Francesca after him lol. He said that I was taking his name and he had it first 🤷♀️
Well frankly, that’s a bad attitude. 🙄
have always been obsessed with the name Atticus ... not even because of To Kill A Mockingbird !!!
Neil and Patrick. Still like them.
Was Harris also an option?
Nicknamed Doogie? 😂
Corey & Joel
I love the name Joel
I loved Mason growing up, not anymore tho
Sabrina, Emma, and Sebastian were the best names in the world to 7 year old me
Triplets, Savanah, Sierra, and Simon.
At one point I also remember wanting to be called “Lizzie”. This was after seeing the Lizzie McGuire movie in theaters.
Marella, Elizabeth, and Gabriella
One of my Godson’s name is Aiden and one of my friends now has a Grandson named Aiden. Also special shout out to my other Godson Jayden, my ex boyfriend’s son was Jayden, my baby cousin named Kayden and one of my former foster daughters has a son named Kayden. 🤣

I remember I was obsessed with the name Natasha when I was like 8 or 9. I thought it was just the prettiest name. I still think it’s a good name, although not really my style anymore
Crystal. Idk why though
I swore I’d name my baby Diamond one day, my taste has changed a lot since then
Victor bc of the corpse bride 🤣
Gia and honestly i still like it
Tiffany, Kimberly and Stephanie. Having one of those names instead of my own was going to change my life!
Charlie and Bailey, I was weirdly obsessed with Bailey.
