This is actually the album that made me a fan of Nas as a kid. It might not even be in my top 5.
Illmatic, Lost Tapes, IWW, Stillmatic, and Life Is Good.
Incredible album that has never left my top3. It’s been in my bucket’s 6-cd changer for years now.
This was the 2nd Nas album I heard and the first to cop when it dropped. It’s hard to imagine it now, but believe it or not “I Can” was in HEAVY rotation. And back then hit songs had longer life spans.
Also worth mentioning this was the tail end of the Stillmatic -Lost Tapes- God’s Son run of albums that all dropped within a year (Dec ‘01 - Dec ‘02). 3peat👑
I never really got the grand hype about this album. Im not sayin its wack. With Nas it's always the Big Two and then I feel like whichever albums you name after that there is a bit of a drop off. I also fucked with "I Am" heavy when it came out
it's not perfect and there is some very skippable tracks. But I could say the same about God's Son. "Nasislike" is a banger, also Small World, and NY State of Mind Part 2, I feel like those three joints are better than anything on God's Son. That being said, Life Is Good and probly most of the Hit Boy albums are better albums.
Get Down is a top 5 Nas track imo. Revolutionary Warfare, Made You Look, Warriors Song, Dance are all great songs off Gods Son that get overlooked. I absolutely did not fuck with I Am, though. Nas Is Like was obviously the standout, and I like Small World and I Wanna Talk To You but I felt the rest of that album had average beats with shitty hooks. To each their own though, I was like 9 when I Am dropped and like 12-13 when Gods Son dropped, so maybe it was an age thing and I’m more nostalgic to Gods Son.
Good point about age differences, I Am has more nostalgic qualities for me and maybe that's a big part of it. I liked Get Down of course and Made You Look. Not in my top five but like you said to each his own.
Alchemist, you know me man!
Im the typa n*ga that writes rhymes on the spot soon as i hear the beat
I love when he dissed Rass Kass on book of rhymes. It was like "nigga, I didn't forget."
Great album, imo illmatic, magic 1, still matic, kings disease 3
It’s insane that nas discography means that amazing albums like It Was Written, Lost Tapes, I Am aren’t even to9 5
My top looks something like this now. And I know gods soon is a good album fs
did you revisit the 9th Wonder God's Step Son ( Remix album )
That shit was both blasphemous and heretical
Underrated album. You can listen front to back

My personal favorite Nas album
Book Of Rhymes is my favorite off this album. Alchemist, you know me man !

Revolutionary Warfare is mad underrated, and that Alchemist beat is straight napalm.
My favorite song on the whole album.
You'd probably like 9th Wonder's [God's Stepson remix of the album!](https://youtu.be/-vyOyTRDsGo?si=8eKoMNm60eoXQ3UE)

Quick question about this album, why isn’t The G.O.D. on Spotify?
I was listening to this album a few minutes ago, great music
I need to get back to my Nasathon, thanks for the reminder 😀
opening and closing track both make me feel some kind of way
I feel he was at his best rapping wise during this run, but I can‘t put this with his best, too uneven.
You listen to Stepson yet? I linked it yesterday
Why do you guys think this album is a little slept on? My thought is maybe cause it followed Stillmatic?
It's definitely one of my top favorite Nas albums
Mastermind is an instant classic
Love that album
