Top of the fingers, the velocity of the pass sent if flying plus its like 3 feet above his head. Gordon passed for no reason he holds onto it and they win that game.
Russ and Gordon both played well today which makes this even more unfortunate
Bro I'm so lost I saw people saying Gordon sold and then I finally watch the clip and its Russ not catching a ball that any person with hands could catch lol. Gordon still shouldn't be jumping and passing it like that tho, easily could have been a Kings player there waiting to steal it
It wasn’t a good pass lol, you never have to jump to catch a good pass, especially when no one’s around you. That being said it was definitely catchable.
https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/7329584/nba-alters-emphasis-shooting-fouls-2011-12
Backcourt violations are called when 15sec left on shot clock. Explained about 2/3 the way down that link.
Tl;dr 15 not 16 because 16 actually means 16.9 in terms of actual shot clock in tenths of a second.
It’s still an 8 second backcourt violation, though. The ball crosses the half but it has to already taken a bounce into the front court before it hits 15.
That's not how the shot clock works which causes confusion. If it's in double digits it doesn't show the milliseconds.
When the clock hits 15 it actually is 15.99 so it's 15 for when the 8 second violations occur. 16 seconds is 16.99
When only the seconds were shown on the 24 clock, it actually started at 24.9 because when it hits 0 on the clock it would be 0.9. Once the tenths of a second were displayed at the end of the shot clock, they made the switch to start at 24.0 at the start of possession. After 0.1 seconds pass, 23 is displayed
woo! hahaha also on that note, if the typical reaction time to press a button is 0.2 secs, seems really tight to get a shot off in 0.3, looking at you Derek fish, and get all timings right
So many questions in this clip. Why did they take so long to get the ball across half court? Why were PG and RoCo so lackadaisical? Why didn’t EG just hold the ball? Why did Russ have to butterfinger that pass? Why do I let this team give me hope?
Haven’t you heard that this is the best and smartest offensive basketball played by only the best generational players in the history of the game? This surely had to be a HIGH IQ play learned in AAU. Unfortunately it didn’t play out.
Nah, you can freeze frame and it’s basically the moment the ball crosses mid court is the moment the shot clock flips from 16 to 15. I think it’s legit
I get your logic there but the way the nba shot clock works it moves from 24 to 23 immediately since technically there are 23.9 seconds left on the shot clock. So when the clock hits 16 there are actually 16.9 seconds left and only 7.1 seconds have passed. This is why refs look for 15 seconds left on the clock, that way they know that 8+ seconds have passed and not 7+ seconds
To your first question, no, that's why they call it when it hits 15 and not 16. They know that 8+ seconds have passed, they're probably not sure exactly how long but it has been 8+ seconds.
To your second question, because it is actually a 24 second clock. It should be going from 24 to 23 immediately, not after a second.
You know they can try to force a jump ball right? You're telling me 3 guys aren't gonna be able to put a hand on the ball if he tries to just hold on to it?
Gordon can easily create contact with 3 guys bum rushing him and get sent to the line. Refs are looking to make hack calls at the end of the game considering the Kings were down with like milliseconds to go meaning they literally had to foul.
You are correct. Gordon was in a bad position where he would have been trapped by multiple players against the sideline. The idea that it’s super easy to draw a foul in that position and avoid a turnover is just wrong.
In that position passing to a wide open teammate who is unguarded and could drain even more clock before getting fouled, is 100% the correct play.
It was a bad pass by Gordon, but Westbrook should have caught it (at least from this angle)
Really no point in even arguing with a OKC flair about Westbrook. Their nostalgia makes them delusional towards Russ.
It’s both. Russ barely got off the ground for that pass and it looks catchable but went off his fingertips. But it was definitely a little high with a lot of heat on it. Just good ball pressure by the kings that scared both PG and EG into some high stress passes
You clearly don't know anything about basketball. Trapped at half court by 3 guys and the half court line and baseline...that's a turnover or jump ball waiting to happen. Chances of Gordon being fouled there are very slim unless the Kings do something stupid.
Holding onto the ball when you’re about to get trapped by three guys against the sideline INSTEAD of passing to the wide open teammate who could drain more clock, would 100% be the wrong play. That’s too risky of a situation and very well leads to a turnover and fastbreak. All Gordon has to do was hold onto the ball” is a lot easier said than done. The execution of the pass was bad, but the idea behind the pass was the correct play.
If it was the other way around and Russ is the one who threw that pass to Gordon, you OKC fans would be blaming Gordon 100%
biggest problem on this play is roco passing into a triple team below the opposing team's FT line with 3 seconds left to get it across halfcourt (even with PG yelling at him to throw it up court). Gordon actually makes a pretty remarkable play to avoid the 8 second violation but then is forced into making a really dangerous pass before his momentum carries him out of bounds.
Poor positioning by Westbrook prior to Gordon releasing the ball.
He sees clearly in front of him Gordon going toward the sideline and the double is headed his way with a third man right on his heels by half court so Gordon crossing over back toward the center of the court and continuing his dribble is unlikely thus the most realistic scenario there is Gordon having to soon pick up his dribble.
There, Gordon either covers the ball and waits for the foul or he's going to try and find the open man with a jump pass.
If Westbrook stays right where he is on the deep right wing, he's in a perfect position to catch that ball as he's also is in the gap between the three defenders.
Running towards the basket or towards Gordon is not the play there at all and doing so put him in tough position to catch a high pass, which you've got to account for there as Gordon trying to thread a bounce pass through that traffic is implausible.
Gordon also could have thrown it into the corner to Batum but he clearly didn't see him.
Shoutout the Beam Team. They didnt even trying to foul! It’s like they knew the Clippers would turn it over.
Up 1 point with 15 seconds and no timeouts because Lue used the last one early as hell.

Ehhhh, not the best pass, but Russ has gotta secure that
Skip: worst hands for a point guard in the NBA
Team killer! Is this what PG, Kawhi and Lue want?!
[удалено]
Russ probably should've caught it, but it was also too high and behind him.
He did jump. The ball was still high
bad pass to Russ, but it kinda just slipped outta Russ hands
Hit Russ in a bad spot
Top of the fingers, the velocity of the pass sent if flying plus its like 3 feet above his head. Gordon passed for no reason he holds onto it and they win that game. Russ and Gordon both played well today which makes this even more unfortunate
Nah man, it’s just Russ wherever he is, got to crucify that man already for losing the game. /s
Bro you can’t make this shit up
Controlling the narrative I respect it OP
Is it just the angle or is OP running cover Westbrook lmao
[удалено]
it was a bad decision to pass (should have held it) and a bad pass. But still WB should be catching that
There’s literally no reason to pass it, let alone a mid air pass while jumping
Bro I'm so lost I saw people saying Gordon sold and then I finally watch the clip and its Russ not catching a ball that any person with hands could catch lol. Gordon still shouldn't be jumping and passing it like that tho, easily could have been a Kings player there waiting to steal it
that was a good pass. op is on crack
It wasn’t a good pass lol, you never have to jump to catch a good pass, especially when no one’s around you. That being said it was definitely catchable.
Yeah Russ turned his head before receiving it. Unfortunate but something that has happened to pretty much everyone at every level
You just described every ally oop and said it's a bad pass. This is a catchable pass on the NBA
Horrible decision to pass if he can just hold it
That shit was three feet above his head are you fucking blind?
There was 15 seconds on the shot clock and the ball didn’t cross half court
it looks like it hits 15 the exact time the ball passes half court
Its a 8 second count so its late. Should if been back court at the 16 mark.

makes sense. feels good to get down voted for asking too!
Lol, yeah, seems silly. Here’s an upvote to get you back to 0.
woo! hahaha also on that note, if the typical reaction time to press a button is 0.2 secs, seems really tight to get a shot off in 0.3, looking at you Derek fish, and get all timings right
Did MIT write this title?
His intern
Is he wrong tho?
Feel like that ball is insanely catchable, gotta see better quality replay to know for sure.
Russ didn't even have his arms extended, so I'll choose to believe that was catchable.
Completely? No. But also yes.
So many questions in this clip. Why did they take so long to get the ball across half court? Why were PG and RoCo so lackadaisical? Why didn’t EG just hold the ball? Why did Russ have to butterfinger that pass? Why do I let this team give me hope?
Eric Gordon legit loves giving us games, this is his 4th game he’s gifted us in a row.
He loves getting beamed in the face
Bro saved my 6 leg parley thank god. Kings money line
This is going to get buried but why is Batum camping on the 3pt line when the damn basket is open
I also wonder if the Clippers bench all standing in light colors around him made him unnecessarily harder to find
Haven’t you heard that this is the best and smartest offensive basketball played by only the best generational players in the history of the game? This surely had to be a HIGH IQ play learned in AAU. Unfortunately it didn’t play out.
Basketball really breaks my brain these days. Easy open two, passed up because "analytics" says threes and only threes are the way to go
Feel bad for russ. They got this in the bag, but..
Definitely 8 sec violation and think a foul in the backcourt
OP didn’t wanna karma farm. Respect
Absolutely no reason why gordan is trying to pass it but Westbrook gotta still catch that
It was an 8 second anyways.
Nah, you can freeze frame and it’s basically the moment the ball crosses mid court is the moment the shot clock flips from 16 to 15. I think it’s legit
24 to 16 is 8 seconds 24 to 15 is 9 seconds 🤷🏽♂️

Great explanation, so they wire the nba refs to learn milliseconds or?
And why doesn’t the nba call it the 24.9 second shot clock then?
To your first question, no, that's why they call it when it hits 15 and not 16. They know that 8+ seconds have passed, they're probably not sure exactly how long but it has been 8+ seconds. Thank you now I can go to bed peacefully :) up the suns
That’s very geneRuss of you to say that’s Gordon’s fault
No way that dumbass high pass is westbrooks fault
I think it’s a little bit of both. I feel as though Westbrook could’ve caught it
Gordon holds onto it and he has to shoot free throws. Just a really stupid time to throw an off balanced bullet pass even if Russ should’ve caught it.
You know they can try to force a jump ball right? You're telling me 3 guys aren't gonna be able to put a hand on the ball if he tries to just hold on to it?

There's a reason guys pass out of situations like this the vast majority of the time. I don't agree with your assessment at all.

generussional 0-15 when he starts
This is just sad
Lmao this is just too funny
Misleading title.
sigh…..
WHO THE FUCK CURSED WESTBROOK. I LEGITIMATELY FEEL BAD FOR HIM AT THIS POINT. WHAT THE FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK
LeCurse James did
Dafuq?
Bro what. That was right on the money I don’t think that’s Gordons fault
He should’ve let them foul him, he’s our best FT shooter. Obviously Russ has to catch that though
Players should never make jump passes in the clutch but that was definitely on target enough for Westbrook to catch.
Yea. Russ could’ve easily caught that if he jumped just a little higher
I knew this was about to be posted by a lakers flair
How could you blame that high ass pass on Westbrook? Come on
We need a another angle to be honest. Kinda looks too high and kinda looks like it slipped.
It’s both. Russ barely got off the ground for that pass and it looks catchable but went off his fingertips. But it was definitely a little high with a lot of heat on it. Just good ball pressure by the kings that scared both PG and EG into some high stress passes
It’s a little high but he should have made more of an effort to jump and catch it
This /r/nba what did you expect
That’s an easy catch. He dinosaur armed it.
Because it’s Westbrook and this sub hates him lmao.
People here blaming that on Russ shows you the absolute state of this sub, all Gordon had to do was hold onto the ball
Gordon should’ve held on to it but that should be an easy catch for Russ come on
Its still ultimately Gordons fault tho bruh
I don’t disagree
The ball goes straight through his hands. It doesn’t matter what Gordon should’ve done, he should be catching that 100% of the time
[удалено]
What he gets fouled and has to shoot free throws? Better than throwing an off balanced bullet pass three feet above his head.

Because it’s free karma.
It hit Russ's hands no?
Clippers are cursed. They have to kill Donald sterling at this point
Totally Gordon’s fault OP😂
Westbrick butterfingers coulda caught that bruh
Its high, but russ looked away before even catching the ball. Gotta catch that.
Something tells me vehemently advocating for Westbrook will be the first, and last appearance of PGM-13
Not Gordon’s fault lmao
He could have held onto the ball instead he rushed the pass and it went over westbrooks head
That's on Westbrick.
Bad pass
Westbutterfingers
Russ ☕
Russ had a good game, that was a bad pass
He had a good game, and it was a terrible catch
Gordon didn't throw it out of bounds. He passed it a little high and Russ fumbled it.
Would be funny if everyone starts titling these clips with other peoples names, only to find out Westbrook is the culprit.
If the pass hits a player in both hands than they fumbled the catch

looks like russ started cutting to the basket
Should have been 8 seconds anyway
Y’all still blame Doc Rivers?
That one is on Russ
EJ said nah Russ you can’t win as a starter
Sorry I hit you in the hands!
