That is some cheese though. What if a good team decides to tank their season and purposely relegated if there's a generational talent in two years and then destroy the Gleague just in time for them to get promoted.
Getting relegated has devastating financial consequences for teams and you can get stuck for years in the lower tier. Top players would also negotiate contract release clauses should the team be relegated, so they won’t stay good for very long.
If we had a 8 team, 4 east and 4 west tier 2 league expansion right now, and have 1 team from each go up and one team from each conference relegated then the top 2 picks could go to teams now going up to the 30 team NBA proper. If you think about a lot of the recent drafts, it's usually 1 or 2 players that are absolutely we want to see them in the NBA.
Pistons is actually playing 4-D chess. They know they're getting more viewers tuning in to see them potentially breaking the losing streak record compared to just being an average team.
[Right at the beginning of this highlight video you can hear the Pistons commentators talking about how they'd still beat a college team.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYPwtGnq-qw) This has been already been a topic of conversation for weeks.
The post game thread from that game is quite the read. I do it like once a month. Which isn’t much but it’s crazy that it’s been almost two months since they last won a game.
A reminder to anyone about to make the trip: if you comment or vote while you're there, *you will jinx your team into losing to them*. Leave the poor Pistons fans alone.
i am praying cam thomas, mikal bridges, and nic claxton are all ready to bring their best. i will be depressed if you guys ruin history at this point.
the jazz loss was so bad today, it can’t be for nothing
I don’t even think we are a bad team. We were 4 or 5 games over .500 before this awful stretch but man we look pretty bad right now and we play y’all twice, once off a back to back. I honestly think it’s pretty close to a 50-50 chance you guys win one of these 2 games while we are in this funk. The whole team has been really off
Damn bro you want to lose that bad 😭. I don’t think it’s possible you win enough games to not have the highest draft odds possible for the #1 pick already… guess you just want to make history
i’ve seen every one of these losses man 😭 the depression started when we lost to the pelicans without zion, ingram, and murphy, and it got really bad when we lost to the wizards
it can’t be all for nothing.
if we get the record, we at least made history. if we lose now? we’re just a terrible team with nothing to show for it
Still on pace to beat the 11-12 bobcats for worst win% though, y’all can take that history.
I just hope you don’t then get screwed out of the first overall pick (Anthony Davis) and instead get the second pick (MKG)
Even more painful when in the next 4 picks Bradley Beal and Dame go
I wonder how the coaches are treating like this. Is it like a normal regular season game where the day before they’ll go over some basic stuff or is it like the playoffs where they’re actually going over film and properly planning etc. Tbf that’s probably unnecessary
Jazz was the one with no pressure since they have a ready made excuse of 8 players missing. but now every team would be switching it on to avoid years of slander
You don't want to be the team that lets them break the streak.
Last year everyone made jokes about the Nuggets being the first team to let the Lakers get their first win of the season when they started 0-5.
The team that lets them break the streak is going to eat so much shit lol.
Sell the team chants. I have honestly never seen it. This is historically bad. Somebody on the Magic discord said they might be the most sad team in all of pro sports and I can see it (at least in America from what I know).
This is just bad bad. I could only laugh at how bad it looked. The Process Sixers were intentionally tanking the fact that the Pistons aren't even tanking and are this bad just is sad.
The process also brought out a bunch of solid players.
Dario, RoCo, TJ, Grant, Embiid (of course) and many memorable moments.
I was at Kobe’s final game in Philly where the Sixers are 0-18 and we got our first win of the year. Proceeded to go to like 1-29 or something stupid.
But watching the young players get a chance to prove themselves was some of the most fun I’ve had as a fan. Tickets were cheap. I paid $12 for two tickets and probably the same in fees. Add in parking, the game was the cheapest part. Also the players did more meet and greets and events. We all knew the result going into the game, so it was just about watching guys try hard
That's sort of how it feels to watch the wizards this year. We finally have direction so I'll watch a loss cheering for kuzma as he scores 30, Poole as he makes his shaqtin a fool highlight reel, Bilal getting blocks, and kispert hitting his 3s. The pistons have tanked for enough young talent, they got a new coach and it felt like they were ready to get some wins, but somehow they could be the worst team in NBA history.
Those teams played awful basketball and I couldn't stomach watching every game but they had a fun, chaotic energy and were rewarding to follow because of rooting for all those guys hustling to make a career that otherwise wouldn't have gotten a shot.
That's how I feel about the Spurs this year. We're absolute booty, but a little less booty every game and watching the experimentation has taught me a LOT more about the players we have than a mediocre season would have.
Honestly think they need to just trade their players at the lowest/fair value and reshuffle. They will get a high pick no matter what but for their local fans and to not cause alot of problems for their players, go big on changes.
Ivvey out maybe (as he has some value), clearly keeping Cade is the plan but if he wants out, get some great value for him and just go big.
Just put a bunch of shooters around Cade. Even if they can’t defend or do anything else, just give Cade spacing to run a normal nba offense and see what happens. It’s an idea, anyways. I’m not sure the young talent will amount to much.
They could probably trade Ivey to the Raptors for OG, get an elite defender who can shoot alongside Cade, and they've got the cap space to max him in the off-season.
> Sell the team chants. I have honestly never seen it.
You’re probably right but for some reason I choose to believe that’s just a weekly thing for Philly fans.
not from a franchise perspective. at least theyve been a really good team many times before and won three nba titles. theres some history behind the pistons name, which is more than you can say for some other teams.
if youre talking about this team specifically, yeah, i can see it
They're well known around these parts for posts like this
https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/icvf2u/post_game_thread_the_toronto_raptors_pull_out_the/g2511ix/
Honestly the most mind-boggling thing about this team is that they somehow won 2 games in a row and that actually resulted in them having a record above .500 for a time
I really hope they do. Bridges’ consecutive game streak is awesome, but he’s already proven he’s an Ironman. Bro has looked completely gassed lately, he really needs a night off.
The funny thing is that the nature of the Pistons makes this the opposite of a trap game. Most trap games happen because you don’t know half the players and/or don’t prepare properly because you think the opposition will be easy. You also don’t expect the toughness of the opposing team, who often come out with a chip on their shoulder and play way harder than you might expect from the reserves.
Most teams will be playing this like a Game 7 simply because they don’t want to be the ones losing. All of their recent opponents that can have come out HARD against them.
Nah, he makes sense, we need to bench Cade/Ivey/Bagley to play Burks/Livers/Wiseman.
Burks shooting .331% from the field.
Livers shooting .284% from the field.
And Wiseman being James Wiseman
He's clearly right, Cade/Ivey/Bagley are trash negative players, our bench would be so much better!
Sure, they aren't looking great, but the rest of the squad are apex level net negatives. You don't lose 25 in a row because three of your starters are bad.
Let's say hypothetically the Nets fumble this and the Pistons break the streak. Do you think Detroit's celebrations will be on par with Timberwolves play-in?
We are truly witnessing histroy, it’s vert exciting. I was so happy they lost tonight. This is the worst team i have ever seen in my 37 years. Bobcats had less talent, but this team is worse at the game. It truly feels electric watching these games.
God, please beat a team before you play the Rockets in January. I can't handle the stress of potentially being the first team to lose to y'all after this streak.
Damn, what the heck, Pistons?
At the beginning, they did look like a playoff team lol. Or at the least, something akin to what the Thunder or Magic were last year. Still think they can look great in 3-4 years but right now, it's like there are too many players with redundant roles.
They would 100% deserve the distinction. There are AAU teams with more cohesion than this group. Cade is a selfish ballhog and Monty might as well be a scarecrow with how passive he is
So looking at their schedule, they have only won against OKC. I don’t see that happening again.
The next closest possibility of a win is 1/10 vs Spurs, if they lose, that’s 35 straight.
After that is Wizards 1/15 with a potential 37th straight loss.
Followed by 1/24 (Hornets) and 1/27 (Wizards) for potential 41st and 42nd straight losses by the end of January.
We’re witnessing monumentally bad basketball. Time to replace them with Loyola of Chicago so the nun can see a championship
I wasn't familiar with your game, Pistons. I'm a 2-80 believer now
If that happens just let the best euro team in the league and put pistons out to pasture
Pistons better learn chinese buddy
Bo7 vs. Shanghai Sharks. Winner becomes an NBA team. Who you got?
5000 bucks on the Pistons
Damn a dollar for every loss between now and then
My 401k on the Pistons to beat the Shanghai Sharks in a best of 7 series.
At this point better learn Filipino
Who will guard Kai Sotto tho?
idk they might get cooked there, do the Maldives have a league?
The G League Ignite will replace them.
If the NBA had relegation I would immediately start watching
would low key be so fun, but owners obviously would never go for it
It would fix tanking but also #1 picks might end up in the gleague so you’d need to restructure the draft too
top 3 picks goes to the team that just got promoted
That is some cheese though. What if a good team decides to tank their season and purposely relegated if there's a generational talent in two years and then destroy the Gleague just in time for them to get promoted.
Getting relegated has devastating financial consequences for teams and you can get stuck for years in the lower tier. Top players would also negotiate contract release clauses should the team be relegated, so they won’t stay good for very long.

If you think about a lot of the recent drafts, it's usually 1 or 2 players that are absolutely we want to see them in the NBA.
I legit think Real Madrid could beat the Pistons at this point.
But can they do it on a cold rainy night in Stoke?
Give them Kansas
Pistons is actually playing 4-D chess. They know they're getting more viewers tuning in to see them potentially breaking the losing streak record compared to just being an average team.
Adam Silver doing everything for the rating before the contract negotiation
Can't wait for "Can the Kentucky Wildcats beat the Pistons?" posts
[Right at the beginning of this highlight video you can hear the Pistons commentators talking about how they'd still beat a college team.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYPwtGnq-qw) This has been already been a topic of conversation for weeks.
I'll give this pistons team credit they have 2 wins more than any college team would get playing against nba teams
Pistons can go 2-80 and I'll still look at you like this shit gravy
They last won on Oct 28th…before Halloween
since october 28th they have the same amount of wins as the Arizona Diamondbacks, and 2 less wins than the Texas Rangers.
What the fuck 😂
And in calendar year 2023, they have less win (9) than the Lions (12).
The post game thread from that game is quite the read. I do it like once a month. Which isn’t much but it’s crazy that it’s been almost two months since they last won a game.
lmao reading that has me dead
A reminder to anyone about to make the trip: if you comment or vote while you're there, *you will jinx your team into losing to them*. Leave the poor Pistons fans alone.
Lol I commented on there yesterday. Fuck the raptors are breaking their losing streak now
Can you link that here
[https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/17is76h/post\_game\_thread\_the\_detroit\_pistons\_21\_defeat/](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/17is76h/post_game_thread_the_detroit_pistons_21_defeat/)
>Its early but there is NO WAY we are the worst team in the league like some predicted.
Those poor people couldn't see the dispair that was on the horizon lmaooo
Pistons must still be grieving Matthew Perry
Who will finish the season with more wins, the Lions or the Pistons?
They started the season 2-1!
Here I was thinking Halloween was on the 27th
Lmao Pistons games went from the ones you rest your stars against to the ones you treat like a Finals game 7.
I'm dead ass when I say I want us to punt the Nuggets game on Friday so we can be ready for the Pistons on Saturday.
i am praying cam thomas, mikal bridges, and nic claxton are all ready to bring their best. i will be depressed if you guys ruin history at this point. the jazz loss was so bad today, it can’t be for nothing
Idk why I have this odd feeling that y’all will beat us
the jazz were without lauri, keyonte, and clarkson, we all thought today was the day. you guys CANT do worse than that, right?
I don’t even think we are a bad team. We were 4 or 5 games over .500 before this awful stretch but man we look pretty bad right now and we play y’all twice, once off a back to back. I honestly think it’s pretty close to a 50-50 chance you guys win one of these 2 games while we are in this funk. The whole team has been really off
that’s not what i need to hear 😭 let’s all just manifest cam thomas for 50 points back to back
We are like 1-6 in games cam scores 40+ 😭
how tf 😭
Cuz most of them he's using almost 40 possessions to get to 40 points.
Damn bro you want to lose that bad 😭. I don’t think it’s possible you win enough games to not have the highest draft odds possible for the #1 pick already… guess you just want to make history
i’ve seen every one of these losses man 😭 the depression started when we lost to the pelicans without zion, ingram, and murphy, and it got really bad when we lost to the wizards it can’t be all for nothing. if we get the record, we at least made history. if we lose now? we’re just a terrible team with nothing to show for it

i appreciate you for being an optimist. history gets shit done
going from 2-1 to 2-26, you gotta get whatever happiness you can
Let's hope jokic makes quick work out of y'all. Reality is those 2 piston games are important if you guys want to make it into the playoffs.
You were losing against the nuggets no matter what
Exactly, so rest the starters.
No one wants to be the team that loses first lol.
I mean for real with every loss you have to think their opponents become more motivated to not fuck this up
It’s targeting atp
So basically the Browns those 2 years and they’re waiting on their San Diego
Yeah, if I was a coach I'd be telling my team to make them feel like they'll never win again. Which they probably already do.
I wonder how the coaches are treating like this. Is it like a normal regular season game where the day before they’ll go over some basic stuff or is it like the playoffs where they’re actually going over film and properly planning etc. Tbf that’s probably unnecessary
"I wish the Pistons were *the* team to beat this year" *monkey paw curls*
Jazz was the one with no pressure since they have a ready made excuse of 8 players missing. but now every team would be switching it on to avoid years of slander
You don't want to be the team that lets them break the streak. Last year everyone made jokes about the Nuggets being the first team to let the Lakers get their first win of the season when they started 0-5. The team that lets them break the streak is going to eat so much shit lol.
If a team wants a coach fired they know what game to lose.
Marks calendar for March 9. JKidd might be watching his last game on that day.
that hell of a losing streak if y'all are going to end up losing to the pistons ending their streak
Don't play us again til Feb 27th, thank god, idk if I could handle the stress of that game lol. We will see when that day comes.
Sell the team chants. I have honestly never seen it. This is historically bad. I could only laugh at how bad it looked. The Process Sixers were intentionally tanking the fact that the Pistons aren't even tanking and are this bad just is sad.
The Process was legitimately fun because there was a plan
The process also brought out a bunch of solid players. Dario, RoCo, TJ, Grant, Embiid (of course) and many memorable moments. The game they almost beat the 73-9 Warriors >>>
McConnell and Covington game-winners!
That's how I feel about the Spurs this year. We're absolute booty, but a little less booty every game and watching the experimentation has taught me a LOT more about the players we have than a mediocre season would have.

why the fuck would the raptors trade OG for Ivey lol
Knicks fans were [chanting ](https://youtu.be/NirXxnvRbac?si=IOlNps8V9nC5Hocs) it back in the 19/20 season.
Panthers give them a run for their money
Panthers have double the win% as the pistons.
Fair, but Pistons could get rewarded with the No. 1 pick as a result of their terribleness. Panthers traded away the No. 1 pick.
The pistons could also go 2-80 and still get the 5th pick (which would be really, really funny).
> Sell the team chants. I have honestly never seen it. You’re probably right but for some reason I choose to believe that’s just a weekly thing for Philly fans.
not from a franchise perspective. at least theyve been a really good team many times before and won three nba titles. theres some history behind the pistons name, which is more than you can say for some other teams. if youre talking about this team specifically, yeah, i can see it
Cleveland Browns still exist
This season? They’re 9-5 lol. The DeShaun contract is straight up clown shit so if you’re counting that, I’ll allow it.
He's talking about the 0-16 Browns team
Right now they are in Elite mode
And this is one of the NBA's historic franchises. Three titles, the Bad Boys, the unprecedented 2004 run, DEEETROIT BASKETBALL........this is so sad.
Nets losing one for sure.
The post from u/NJNetsFan5152433 is gonna be legendary
What post?
They're well known around these parts for posts like this https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/icvf2u/post_game_thread_the_toronto_raptors_pull_out_the/g2511ix/
I hate so much that you have a Sixers flair but are completely right. This recent stretch of Nets games has me shook about these games.
Do not fucking blow this
It’s what they do
We’ve sucked so yes I think it’s very possible
Never thought I’d be watching piston regular season games but here I am 😂
Honestly the most mind-boggling thing about this team is that they somehow won 2 games in a row and that actually resulted in them having a record above .500 for a time
Damn near beat Miami to start 3-0 too
I'm annoyed that they have a home and home with the Nets. playing the same team twice actually gives the pistons a chance.
They played a below average team missing 4 of their best 7 players and was 2-13 on the road and lost
And that were on a back to back. Still lost
This is just downright sad.
Nets on the pressure cooker now
first game is the 2nd half of a b2b for the nets with the first game against Denver Nets are absolutely losing that game, no doubt in my mind
Maybe nets should rest there guys tomorrow then again they’re at home
I really hope they do. Bridges’ consecutive game streak is awesome, but he’s already proven he’s an Ironman. Bro has looked completely gassed lately, he really needs a night off.
Have him play 10 minutes and get fined
You underestimate the Pistons
Home and home against Philly and they demolished them. I could see Mikal going off for 40 both nights.
I hope so. Mikal has been playing pretty bad lately.
I mean they just lost to the Jazz with 8 missing players
This is legit historical ill end up telling my kids about this
how low can we go?
Unify the belts and get 29 losses in a row. The Process 6ers cheated and did it over 2 seasons
2-80 please
I think realistically getting 10 wins from here would be a good comeback ngl
https://i.imgur.com/YYL1XxG.jpeg
Insert Vince Carter I got one more in me
2-80
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AD2dWf0-A4w
if the nets want win this comfortably they need to rest 2-3 starter make it a trap game for the pistons because now it is a trap game for the nets
Yeah it almost is making it harder to break because now nobody wants to be the team to lose it to them
this will be the finals for idiots
gamblers, degens, and gambler degens
If it’s any consolation to them, they are now the scariest team in the league
Whichever team this Piston team beats is never going to live or down, if the pistons ever win again that is
Funniest outcome would be if the celtics manage to lose by some miracle aafter the pistons break the record
I'm terrified, cause ts definitely the type of game we'd lose or Pritchard drops 30. No in between
*William Laimbeer Jr. sends his regards*
whichever that team is will hold a players-only meeting, fire their coach, and have the team issue a PR statement on X.
This pistons team might all have to be released at the end of the season I’m starting to believe they won’t even get double digit wins
Just pull your best guys and go for it. Own history. Gonna be weird rooting for the Nets for the second time this season
[удалено]
Yeah, bench them and play who? Some of y'all just talk just to hate without thinking
Nah, he makes sense, we need to bench Cade/Ivey/Bagley to play Burks/Livers/Wiseman. Burks shooting .331% from the field. Livers shooting .284% from the field. And Wiseman being James Wiseman He's clearly right, Cade/Ivey/Bagley are trash negative players, our bench would be so much better!
Sure, they aren't looking great, but the rest of the squad are apex level net negatives. You don't lose 25 in a row because three of your starters are bad.
Dudes really just dont watch games and be saying anything now
>Cade, Ivey Just admit you don't know basketball
Imagine being the team that breaks this losing streak, someone gone throw hands in the locker room afterwards lol
Don’t fuck this up Brooklyn! Play like there’s no tomorrows!
Let's say hypothetically the Nets fumble this and the Pistons break the streak. Do you think Detroit's celebrations will be on par with Timberwolves play-in?
They might riot.
a malicious one even
When somebody said "Records are their to be broken" they were not implying this
Brooklyn nets must be feeling the pressure rn
We are truly witnessing histroy, it’s vert exciting. I was so happy they lost tonight. This is the worst team i have ever seen in my 37 years. Bobcats had less talent, but this team is worse at the game. It truly feels electric watching these games.
Why does everyone keep asking 2-80? It’s -78 people. Not that hard
dumb redditors think this is a math site
Pistons couldn't beat a glorified G-League team and now have to match up with Cam Thomas? TWICE??
God, please beat a team before you play the Rockets in January. I can't handle the stress of potentially being the first team to lose to y'all after this streak.
Nets under tremendous pressure right now.
#EVERYBODY GET IN HERE! DE-TROIT BAS-KET-BALL!!
cmon nets, you gotta do it for the boys
Merry Christmas Pistons fans
The game should moved to a Christmas day game if the record can be broken
It’s like they’re trying to break the record
They might as well just go for the record at this point
Ppl bout to be fired
They were 2-1
Damn, what the heck, Pistons? At the beginning, they did look like a playoff team lol. Or at the least, something akin to what the Thunder or Magic were last year. Still think they can look great in 3-4 years but right now, it's like there are too many players with redundant roles.
I think a Heat announcer said it years back: "in the first few games of the season, the bad teams don't know they're bad yet"
They would 100% deserve the distinction. There are AAU teams with more cohesion than this group. Cade is a selfish ballhog and Monty might as well be a scarecrow with how passive he is
Bump 76ers Heat and move Pistons-Nets to Christmas. #HISTORY
at this point the pistons should sign melo for his farewell tour
Please embarrass Gores so badly until he sells the team.
With a b2b, the Pistons might have a chance to win one. Nets have a chance to be clowned upon as the team that broke the streak.
Their wins were against Charlotte and Chicago IIRC
Bro ain’t no way lmaaaooo
Man imagine losing to this team by 15+ pts.
We’ll all be root for the record at this point so it won’t go to waste and we win history Everybody wins (except the Pistons and their fans)
If you don’t laugh you’ll cry
Just go for it at this point. If you're that bad, might as well have something historically attach to it. And sorry Detroit fans
Process Pistons
The internet really failed to take advantage calling us the 26ers all these years. Might be your last chance.
Alright Ben Simmons and friends. Do not fumble this. Condolences to Pistons fans in advance.
Ahh Christmas in Detroit
Considering you don’t wanna be on the team that breaks this record, you would have to assume they would go all out and win one of the next two right?
Could be the first 2-80 team
Sam Hinkie and the process sixers are vindicated. The vampire will pay for what he did to us
They're gonna win one against us. We suck right now
I'm gonna deck your halls, bub!
The funny thing is, there's no real generational guy in this years draft... they should've did this last season for Wemby
They did. Worst record in the league and got the 5th overall pick
*insert Goofy wanna see me do it again meme*
They did do it lmao, didn't even get a top 3 pick. Maybe the Hornets are slowly transferring their curse over to them.
