Doctors, is there a limit to this shit? I think we’re all curious: what percentage of a timeline like this has to do with technologically sophisticated treatment that is typically out of reach for us humdrum wage slobs- and what percentage has to do with athletes playing through a certain amount of pain?
Surgery doesn’t necessarily make bones heal faster. If the fracture is not well aligned, you can correct that with surgery, and using the chosen fixation method (screw/plates, etc) hold the fracture in place. That’s all that does, is hold the bone in place until the body can heal it. Surgery wise, there’s probably not much different that Russell is getting than your average Joe. His rehab is probably much better and he has more time and resources to do it. There’s no magic healing potion, stem cell, or whatever people are guessing here. 4 weeks is pretty common for return to sport for certain hand fractures. Other type of fractures, like ankle fractures, generally take a while longer.
They obviously can't outpace their bodies natural limits, but John Cena talked a while ago about coming back from a total pec tear that should have taken a year in about 4 months and he says that he was very lucky in that he could make rehab his full time job, which he accepts most people can't do so I think that is also a factor although Im not going to pretend like I know how big of a difference rehab makes to a broken finger.
I took a Toradol injection in the ER once 2 years ago and it made my breathing SO difficult. I thought I was gonna die. ust have had an allergic reaction or something.
If I had to guess why you struggled, it's probably on the offensive end? The Pelicans have a ton of perimeter defensive talent and your team primarily get buckets by making tough perimeter shots.
That being said, the Regular and Post seasons aren't a 1:1 comparison. I honestly think most veteran teams are eyeing the Pelicans and would love to face them in the first round
Yeah, I know right but unless Kingram injury hampered them down, I’m not sure you could and even so Zanos is awake.
You should try to build some momentum for the postseason because vibe aren’t immaculate at the moment
They have an outside chance but it’s slim — they’re 3.5 games back right now AND Minnesota holds the tiebreaker. Minnesota also has a slightly easier schedule, although difficulty at this stage of the season is hard to quantify (e.g. the Clippers play the Sixers twice, who have a winning percentage of 55% but also are 12-23 without Embiid).
The one thing will be health. The Wolves are really banged up right now — KAT’s out the entire regular season, Rudy is questionable with a rib injury, Anthony Edwards, Naz Reid, and Monte Morris are playing but have injuries they’re nursing.
Honestly, thanks for the detailed answer.
I was aware of the KAT injury, no details about Rudy and Ant was dealing with some issues. Minny having the tiebreaker might seal the deal but like you say there is a slim chance.
Pelicans just lost Ingram for at least 2 weeks and the Clippers are at least 3 games ahead of the other teams below them and have a relatively easy schedule.
They were like 3-5 in the last 8 games before Westbrook got injured, losing to strong teams and beating Detroit, Memphis and GSW by small margins. The story that the team only fell in weaker form due to Westbrook's injury seem exaggerated to me. Although he did have some good shifts in some of those games they lost (some), the team was losing the offensive luster in February overall anyway.
I don't think anyone is saying that Westbrook is the only reason the Clippers have had a rough few weeks, (or at least they shouldn't be), but he provides on-court value to the team most games, particularly as a rebounder and defender. With him out, it also means they have to play Hyland and often Tucker, who have both had one good game and several horrible games.
Westbrook's absence is also compounded by Harden, Leonard, George, Mann, Powell and Zubac all missing at least one game during that time.
He’s basically stopped rebounding the last couple months. Kinda confusing. It drove what made the bench good. He was averaging less than 3 rebounds a game in 22 minutes for Feb.
Ah I was counting the game he got hurt in because he played most of the minutes he usually does. For sure they lost some tough games but pre asg I was thinking they are looking up there on the Celtics and Nuggets level.
Only 3-4 weeks after surgery is crazy, I broke my finger and had surgery and it took me 3 weeks to even discuss getting out of the cast lol.
You are not getting the same quality of treatment. Gotta get that stem cell special sauce lol.
LeBron must be Westbrook's blood boy.
The LeBron James of blood
We’re getting Taco Bell level treatment compared to their Michelin Star treatment.

Yeah I kinda suspected that. People rly think if you’re a millionaire, you can circumvent bodily limitations lmao

He's also not Westbrook
Westbrook once had his face caved in during a game, continued to play, and proceeded to miss zero games. He has played through some crazy shit.
Actually 🤓☝️ he missed 1 game after Roberson dented his face.
he was doing high-knees on the plane
Have you tried being a multimillionaire?
What kind of break? I broke my pinky and was back fairly soon. It was my dominant hand though
It was also my pinky finger on my dominant hand lol.
Westbrook actually heals so fast, it's wild
Westbrook got inspiration from watching Wolverine in X-Men 97

Bro filled to his eyeballs in toradol and mjs secret stuff
I took a Toradol injection in the ER once 2 years ago and it made my breathing SO difficult. I thought I was gonna die. ust have had an allergic reaction or something.
Him being out these past few weeks proved how much the clippers need him. Effort is contagious and he never lacks effort.
Kawhi going out is the reason Clippers aren't performing lol
y'all were ass with him too
bro you're in the 9th spot
it's true that the clippers were struggling for a bit before russ was injured tho
Fax
When someone calls out an actual issue and then they just insult the flair is why the discourse is so unserious here
To be fair you have to make a more detailed argument than ‘y’all were ass with him too’ or people will just dismiss it as trolling
Fair i guess
Damn they really came out with full force with this legit take.
Damn that was fast, dude is really a tank
Clippers hope for the 3rd seed back ? At least they should be able to hold on the 4th seed
We're desperately trying to avoid NO in the first round
why tho? im sure 3pt specialist PJ Tucker can stop Zion
Why? Even if Ingram was healthy, Zion is completely untested in the playoffs.
I think we've only been able to beat them twice in the regular season in the past 3 seasons.. they just always have our number

They'll be lucky to not drop to 6 or worse
Pelicans just lost Ingram for at least 2 weeks and the Clippers are at least 3 games ahead of the other teams below them and have a relatively easy schedule.
Our two games will be big I imagine.
All of the rest of the Suns games have pretty serious seeding implications for both teams except the Spurs games
True. We play Wolves, Pels, and Clippers twice. Kings, Denver, and OKC once
What math are you doing
He is a delusional lunatic whose only job on here is to irrationally hate on the Clippers
So a typical r/nba user
Atp!!
So a clown then, got it lmao
He’s my silly rabbit
Why is it always the same 3 people replying. Don't you have a geriatric team to cheer for?
Anyway, how are they dropping to 6 or worse again?
OP is bitch made so don’t expect a legit response
Time to get Russ a ring.
On it, I have his number.
This man would give Wolverine a run for his money.
That's superhuman healing right there! Clippers to the top with this speed, no question
They've been missing him. Hopefully this helps out with team morale

He provides value by simply not being Bones Hyland.
Russ playing at his absolute worst will do more to help the Clippers then those minutes being filled by Bones Hyland and PJ Tucker

4-4 but still your right that they've looked like cheeks since the asg
Wins, mentioned three. Losses, Lakers, Kings, Minnesota, Pellies, OKC. Well, that's a strong lineup to lose to if there ever was one, sure.
Ah I was counting the game he got hurt in because he played most of the minutes he usually does. For sure they lost some tough games but pre asg I was thinking they are looking up there on the Celtics and Nuggets level.
How did he heal that quickly ?
Drugs lol
Growth hormone, bpc and stem cells
>bpc big plastic coke?
He's an X-man
Reall need a healthy clippers in the playoffs it would make the west much more interesting
Russellverine at it again
bro that was so fast i hope everyone in the league gets blessed w his healing powers
GOOD. They need him.
Brodie coming back to dick down the Lakers
Going from operating room to the game that quick is crazy
Brodie back 💪😤
How the fuck he's "one of the league’s top sixth men" when Clippers already have Norman Powell?
He’s no naz Reid
back to 0 minutes for Hyland :'(
John Cena type healing
happy for them - they could use his vibes
Good, the team needs his leadership
LFG
The most predictable thing in the world is that Russ will be AWFUL when he comes back, get too many minutes and cost the Clippers several games.
