Jay Wright developed NBA players better than any coach in college.
I know people will mention Calipari. But Calipari always got super high, mostly top 12 recruits. He did do a good job with Booker and Herro, who were lower (Booker is debatable too since that was mostly him later in Phoenix), but for the most part, it’s easy to get a bunch of good NBA players when you have top recruits. Some of them also didn’t even work out (Harrison twins, Skal, Boston, Briscoe who was ranked ahead of Brunson, etc.).
But Jay Wright did not get top recruits. His two highest were Brunson and Lowry, but even they weren’t what high. They were lower level 5 star recruits and not considered one-and-done by anyone. Yet he’s managed to turn all these non one-and-done players and relatively lower level recruits into NBA caliber players. Even the ones who haven’t really succeeded (Spellman, Arch, etc.) did better than their expected outcome from HS.
I would also consider Dean Smith (Michael Jordan, James Worthy and Sam Perkins among others). But a lot has to be said for sure about Wright's ability to get players into the league even though he didn't routinely have stacked recruiting classes.
It's really funny how the majority of Philadelphians get mad when people claim that Villanova is a philly school, but then also get mad when villanova posts something against a philly team. Why are you guys mad? You are the same ones claiming Nova isn't a philly school to begin with, so they should have no allegiance to the Sixers.
Cincinnatti ran into this problem with Travis Kelce and Marquette with Jimmy Butler.
Don’t remind me
Jay Wright era Villanova was something to behold
What's pretty funny is the Knicks tried signing him pretty much every off-season between 2016 and 2018
How he didn’t win in 2017 is wild. Should’ve 3 peated from 2016-2018

Do you think they would’ve posted something if Lowry and the Sixers won lol

Philly guys through and through
Their guy also missed a clutch FT and then flopped around during a loose ball situation to seal the loss.
