He can’t hit the plant and jump on his sidestep three right now. For a while he was going to the opposite side and 5at wasn’t working.
It’s not that he’s still hurt, it’s that the injury left a hitch in the shooting motion of his favorite shot.
He just doesn’t trust that leg… it’s psychological, not physical.
The game plan from the Bucks has been to take the ball out of his hands. The game winner is the reason why. He shot the 3 horribly. His before and after injury splits from 3 aren't made up, but he isn't always going to shoot the 3 horribly if his career averages, and his shooting before the hamstring sprain, are real.
I'll happily take him shooting 12 3s a game if most are good looks. They will start falling.
Because he's not stupid. He's baiting you into that. Go look at that last play. Beverly reaches in the SAME SPOT he did twice two possessions earlier. Tyrese even baited him into a foul the second time he did it, and cooked him the third.
How do people not understand this? Playoff basketball is won on gamesmanship. You aren't going to see him score 30 points unless this goes to 7 games.
> He wasn't particularly good today but he hit it when it mattered and that's really all there is to it.
Do you just watch who throws the ball at the hoop and ignore everything else?
After seeing him go 1-12 I would've let him try tonight instead of continuing to double on the perimeter and then let him slide inside for a floater on the last play.
He's been 40% shooter legit from high school thru to the NBA, just slumped half a season after he got injured.
If you're willing to risk him finding his form in an important Playoffs game and series, then sure, go for it. But teams would rather force him out of shooting any shot, which is why he gets a million assists.
I get that but after ASG, since his injury, in games 1&2 he doesn't look like finding a rhythm. At the point of the game when he was 1-12, hell even way earlier, he should've been forced to try find that rhythm which was not coming which would've cut out the other part of his game that he was still cooking with.
In the end (tonight especially) they let Haliburton off the hook by allowing him to at times still blow by and get assists even though his shot was cooked.
He’s on a new playoff team and talks shit, those guys are always polarizing. His slump has just given them ammo to come out and shit on him. Even with the slump, that’s my point god. He’s the engine that makes the Pacers go.
I am convinced that it's just a small group of haters who just hate on every player. Probably don't even like basketball. But people find it funny and it encourages the behavior.
the haliburton haters are weird, a pass first PG who had a triple double and hit the GW even after a poor shooting night is impressive, idc what you guys say, he’s becoming an underrated player.
Which is kinda dumb because he's the one guy who's been so specifically disadvantaged by it. The difference between him getting a couple more weeks to heal that hamstring and play 56-64 games at the level he was at pre-injury, versus otherwise not being able to rest due to risking 40 million dollars, and potentially even his All-NBA case because of it.
He's the one guy had he maintained that level would've still made at least 3rd team and been otherwise healthy.
If they lose and he put that stat line up, do you think he is being praised. I’m not just talking about this game either. Dude is shooting 41% from the field and 22% from 3 for the series.
I like the guy, but he has had a rough first 3 games overall and the Pacers should be happy to be up 2-1. Most of that having to do with Giannis being out.
He hit that huge shot to win the game, but he was atrocious down the stretch.
He bricked a number of open looks and didn’t really set up that many good looks for teammates (most of his passes came before ever stressing the defense). He also didn’t seem to try to get open for the final free throws in regulation (the Nesmith ones) which was interesting.
They’d see a PG who has struggled with his shot but has still found a way to lead his team to a 2-1 lead in his first playoff series with 36 assists, a triple double, and a game winning shot.
He’s got the midwest-humble to him, but also is carrying the Reggie Miller torch and knows how to press the other team’s buttons (sometimes without saying a word). Been waiting for this for so long🔥
If I'm the bucks. I'm letting him shoot more 3s
[удалено]
He’s a career 40 percent 3 point shooter, even with taking all of his step backs. His shot has just been poor from 3 since he got hurt this year
His hamstring isn’t the reason he’s missing shots we literally watched him do an explosive put back dunk today.
His signature shot is a sidestep going right and he can’t take that shot right now.
So what is it doctor

Half of these threes were open. It’s not like he was jacking up contested shots. That’s not game planning.
Any time a player we like doesn't play well, it's because he's injured. That's just how it works around here.
It's not that he's injured, it's that he doesn't seem to have confidence in his step back/sidestep. He did it all the time before the injury.
If not playing well means a triple double with 16 assists and a clutch game winner, I'm taking that all day

Nah man, 16 assists, a triple double, +16 and the game winner is ass bro
And then you let him eventually find his rhythm again
After seeing him go 1-12 I would've let him try tonight instead of continuing to double on the perimeter and then let him slide inside for a floater on the last play.

He hasn’t found rhythm since the all star break. Teams have more film on him he doesn’t move anyone lol
He had 10 rebounds and 16 assists to go with his 18. You’re team would kill for him.
Not really I’d kill for a Giannis tho
His jumper looks painful, idk if him catching a rhythm is possible
It's always looked like that
Did you just get released from a Thai prison and not see the first half of the season?
lol sure
Ugh, he’s so good driving that it kills me he keeps forcing 3s. Attack! Use the floater!
Haliburton haters are mad weird
Makes no sense whatsoever. Such a likable guy and a fun play style.
He’s on a new playoff team and talks shit, those guys are always polarizing. His slump has just given them ammo to come out and shit on him. Even with the slump, that’s my point god. He’s the engine that makes the Pacers go.
he talked shit and his fans overhype him, r/nba kept the recipe.
That shit talk was so mild.
“the recipe”
He has no left how is that a fun playstyle?
I am convinced that it's just a small group of haters who just hate on every player. Probably don't even like basketball. But people find it funny and it encourages the behavior.
It’s the losers of IST lol but if they won it they would have liked it
Because he's not that good
Just a quick glance at your comment history and yikes, how do you even enjoy sports lmao.
I truly don’t think people understand 16 assists adds 40 points to a teams score
Assists don't mean playmaking
Hali prob my fav Pg
My All Star MVP
What a guy. Triple dub and the game winner.
Him
Hopefully his shot un-fultzes itself soon, but he's been great in so many other ways.
Bucks lost a fixed game, absolutely embarrassing.
[удалено]
Lol, the Bucks were handed that game by the refs and still lost
Best point guard in the eastern conference
legend
That last stat is the only one that matters
Team accomplishment
Giannis being out is really saving Hali from getting the playoff microscope put on him
the haliburton haters are weird, a pass first PG who had a triple double and hit the GW even after a poor shooting night is impressive, idc what you guys say, he’s becoming an underrated player.
Hali shot terrible from 3 tonight and was still +16 in a game the pacers only won by 3 points....that is insane!
Because these people are dimwits. Go read the opinions on Jokic before he won a championship.
Can't talk basketball with everybody.
I think redditors are still mad about him criticizing the 65 game rule
oof ouch owie
i mean thats how people reacted to him, it was soft
Knicks fans know first hand a lot about being soft
Which is kinda dumb because he's the one guy who's been so specifically disadvantaged by it. I’m not hating lol. 1/12 is terrible but he is being saved by the win.
"saved by the win"? did he not just get a triple double with 16 assists and the game winner? don't you think the win was sorta saved by him?
If they lose and he put that stat line up, do you think he is being praised. I’m not just talking about this game either. Dude is shooting 41% from the field and 22% from 3 for the series. I like the guy, but he has had a rough first 3 games overall and the Pacers should be happy to be up 2-1. Most of that having to do with Giannis being out.
also being saved by 16 assists and 10 rebounds (5 orebs)
Box score watching at its finest. That man was creating open shot after open shot out there.
So did Ben Simmons lol
Least pouty Bucks fan
And he was an all star
He hit that huge shot to win the game, but he was atrocious down the stretch. He bricked a number of open looks and didn’t really set up that many good looks for teammates (most of his passes came before ever stressing the defense). He also didn’t seem to try to get open for the final free throws in regulation (the Nesmith ones) which was interesting.
Why are you getting downvoted?
He’s only 24 lol everyone’s not gonna be MJ their first playoff series
They’d see a PG who has struggled with his shot but has still found a way to lead his team to a 2-1 lead in his first playoff series with 36 assists, a triple double, and a game winning shot.
Wah wah wah
The jumpshot makes me cringe
That jumpshot won the ball game.
Wasn’t it a floater lol
Dude saved himself from a generational 3ball stinker lmao
By getting a triple double? lol
He’s got the midwest-humble to him, but also is carrying the Reggie Miller torch and knows how to press the other team’s buttons (sometimes without saying a word). Been waiting for this for so long🔥
[удалено]
Wow you are the first to point that out! Are you a scout?
[удалено]
I mean he’s not ass but that was a very different player than the consensus first team all nba player who showed up before the injury.
Dont think he was THAT good
Triple double✔️, 16 assists✔️, Game winner✔️ Yep, mid af.
Didnt say that, just not that great of a game
He is
He was genuinely bad today until he hit the winner. Just how the script writers wrote it up
He was +16, by far the highest on the Pacers, in a game that came down to the wire. Scoring isn’t why he’s considered a star.
Single game +/- means nothing
It says a little more when a player's usage is that high.
He can’t shoot that’s for sure
bro he's a 50/40/85 shooter
Also 47 37 85 this year
Well he looked terrified to shoot tonight.
typically if youre terrified to shoot you dont shoot 12 from beyond the arc
He looks afraid to shoot
Funny if Trae had this stat line you’d all be shitting on him
Bro Rese is getting hated on PLENTY trust me. But Trae is also over hated.
Jfc 1/12 from 3????
His jumper is garbage
Career 40% 3pt shooter
37 percent this season
So just above league average? “garbage”
I thought statmuse was cut off? Hell of a game though.
lol ok
Horrible shot creation and ability to put pressure on a defense in the half court.
Can’t put pressure on a defense but gets 16 assists? Could you explain that one for us?
Assists isn't putting pressure on a defense
You’re a lost cause salty Ass wanker. Lol 16 assists triple double and game Winner in a big playoff game. Go To Bed
Assists don't mean anything
