I really don't understand the Big 3's fixation on the midrange. I get that it's a great weapon to have *when defenses take away the rim and the three ball*, but spamming it as a default is weird.
Once it became clear that we cant exploit the wolves d with the midrange like we did in the regular season, and i mean, VERY EARLY in game 1, we should have changed it up. But no.
Your problem is a roster construction problem though. Beal is a poor fit, a pure playmaker and slashers to attack the rim that isn't just Nurkic would have given you options and would have provided the energy on both ends.
Too much redundancy.
Watching the 3pt barrage in the 4th makes me think maybe Vogel was right and the Mid 3 were left (mid 3 is a crack on their shot profile, not their abilities compared to competition)
Man I know hindsight is 20/20 but this Suns team’s roster construction just feels like a head-scratcher.
You have 3 guys on the floor who are there to do nothing but score. None of them provide a good amount of rebounding, hustle, defense, or even a playmaking at a high level.
Teams like this Minnesota team or Denver are prime examples of how much more important quality role-players that provide things outside of scoring are than yet another ISO scoring guard.
KD actually joined a Super Team in Phoenix.
Then he dismantled it and sold CP3 and Ayton who were the people responsible for him joining in the first place.
Since they were the team that made the NBA Finals
you don't need 3 of those guys, you need 1 for tough situations but the main goal of an offense should be to get to the rim, fouled or get open 3s. Phoenix just can't get the wolves to put 2 on the ball because none of their guys actually threaten the defense on every play.
In contract the suns are forced to double Ant cause he'll just blow by his defender and get right to the rim
Rudy "Played off the floor" Gobert is +53 for the series
The only thing playing him off of the floor is his own team making garbage time mandatory for Phoenix
The Suns have absolutely no answer for him in the paint on either end of the floor. He's getting the easiest looks of his career playing with teammates that trust him on that end and have the ability to feed him like Conley and Ant. Meanwhile defensively he's still dominating around the rim, only 36 points in the paint for an offensive juggernaut is tough.
> with teammates that trust him on that end and have the ability to feed him like Conley and Ant.
One of the biggest points of development for this team has been Ant learning to trust Rudy. It has been documented extensively on (I think) The Athletic. Ant had no idea how to play with Rudy and now that he's figured it out it has unlocked another level for each of them.
As a long time Gobert believer who has had basically everyone I know (and a ton of people on here) shit on me for years regarding him - I used to dream of times like these.
Guy is so fucking good, fuck the overrated label. Jazz teams that didn’t maximize his talents (and he and Donovan being too good and hiding the biggest issues of those rosters) and he & KAT both having injury issues last year had people completely out of pocket calling the dude a bad player.
Trading for Beal was a bone head move, dunno why Ishbia didn't realize that KD was so successful because he had guys like prime Westbrook, Curry and Harden running point and creating so many easy shots for him. And Beal and Booker are not PGs.
Like KD and Booker I understand. Why the fuck did they get Beal??? What does he offer that booker doesnt? it literally made no sense and still makes no sense.
Not only that but Pacers signed Ayton to a deal, Suns matched. Trade him for Turner and feed him opens 3s when your guys are hot. Nurkic is a good rebounder and decent passer but that’s it.
The most defining aspect of this series is that the Wolves don’t even have to be outstanding to dominate the Suns. Now obviously their D is amazing and I’m not trying to take away from that, but it’s telling that these big leads aren’t built on the back of red hot perimeter shooting or a star playing going off. They’re just crashing the glass and creating good shots in order to generate buckets. They are just playing their normal basketball, and Phoenix has absolutely no answers.
Tonight was just a true dismantling. Phoenix looked absolutely broken in the third quarter. They made a little steam at the end, but overall they just look overmatched and lifeless compared to MN. I am biased, but I really expected a more competitive series.
Most people did. When this matchup was confirmed the consensus was the Wolves had gotten their worst matchup. But the wolves kicked it up a notch in this series whereas the Suns might as well have just not bothered showing up.
First time since 2005 where there is no Bron, KD, Steph, Chris Paul, Harden, or Kawhi in the 2nd round if the series all ended today where the teams with the lead advanced
The wolves bench came through huge this game in the first half. 3 starters with 2 fouls each in the first quarter. And then they all each racked up 1 more in the 2nd. The fact that the team went into the half with a lead was amazing.

Honestly I'm just happy to watch Gobert play on a team that appreciates what he does for them.
The picks are nice. But honestly it for sure feels like the Jazz fleeced the Cavs a lot more than the Wolves.
Jazz fans have been awesome since the trade. I really hope it works out for both teams long term.
But yeah, Minnesota loves him. This generations best defender, I won't hear otherwise.
I agree on the Cavs trade. Minnesota didn't give up any legit star power players. Cavs had to, and it hasn't really panned out for them.
Some might argue ANT, but I’d agree with you. We’re winning on defense and that doesn’t happen without Rudy. Honestly my best case scenario for this playoffs is wolves win the title and Gobert gets FMVP
Suns are beyond cooked. No cap space or draft picks. Horrible Beal contract. They 100% have to trade kd who still has value.
Kd has also been glazing the thunder over the past 2 months and dropped a new commercial with chet. Clearly has a reunion in mind. Not sure of the thunder do it.
As great as this game was for the Timberwolves, it was equally pitiful for the Suns. You’re telling me in a game 3 MUST WIN or you go down 3-0, which is a death sentence, that is the effort you put out. You can pick any point in the game, whether it’s a loose ball, a rebound, a regular defensive possession, or walking to the bench for a timeout, all 5 Timberwolves players are working harder than any Suns player. The Wolves get a lot of rebounds because they’re huge, but they got at least half of theirs tonight by just out working the sons. When the Suns got a rebound it was because it fell into their hands
They're gassed
Usually benches don't play *as much* of a role, but we go deep, and intentionally play hard, challenging every possession and harrying them at every turn
When you have 3 guys you're relying on, and 3 bench players you are comfortable with (two of which are starting)........triage
This is a WWI trenches grinding series, and they're the Germans. KD is Otto Von Bismarck: no matter how well he planned on the past, he could not account for new ways to wage war, nor the incompetence of his 'superiors'
as a Rudy Gobert respecter, I am enjoying this series a lot.
Also, the Suns got outrebounded by fucking 27. What's the point of having Nurk, when rebounding is the 1 fucking thing he can do. the suns deserve this for the constant Ayton slander
This might be the end of the old guard…
Out of the playoffs:
- Steph, Klay, and Draymond
Down 0-3:
- LeBron and Durant
Down 1-2:
- Kawhi, Harden, PG, and Westbrook
Yeah it was really confusing. That stretch where the wolves hit like 5 in 3 minutes but the suns just kept going for 2s as it just slipped away from em lol
One of the worst superteam of all time, even the Nets managed to win the First Round. This Suns team are on the verge of getting swept and have gotten worse/regressed every season the more stars the try to add 💀
For 20 years. 20 fucking years through Corey brewer. Through fucking Anthony Bennett. Through fucking Andrew Wiggins. I have watched this team. I watched coaches come and go. I have seen my team in the basement I have seen my team clowned on constantly. I’m from Minnesota where sports wise nothing good happens. It’s one game to go. Mike Conley tha god.
There is a chance that LeBron, KD, and Steph combined wins a total of 0 playoff games this year.
The Suns defense is swiss cheese and Anthony Edwards is actually just him.
Devin Booker has been taken hostage as a prisoner of war.
He thinks to himself, knees trembling, will it be water boarding, sleep deprivation, or some other horror.
*In walks Jaden McDaniels with a basketball*
Booker immediate bursts into incoherent mumble of tears and screams
Only once the game was pretty safely out of reach did the refs finally call fouls against the suns. All the wolves wings were playing with 5 fouls. MICHAEL CONLEY HAD 5 FOULS. unbelievable all time ref attempt at extending.
I think the Suns have to move on from Booker. Beal is untradable, KD will want to find a harder road somewhere else but nobody will want him. Booker is their best asset. I know he is the "franchise" because he has been there since they were ass, but that almost makes it toxic at this point. Let him go be a \#2 on a contender because it's always going to be hard to get him to be a consistent \#2 in Phoenix
Suns in 4
Ant is leveling up in major way right before our eyes. I've never seen this level of maturity (maybe the wrong word after that horrifying display) from him before. The consistency and tempered aggression. Playmaking, defense, energy, leadership. All of it. He is incredible.
Let's just skip game 4s for the nuggets and the wolves. Let them rest a week and start the 7 game slugfest.
Actually, cancel the rest of the playoffs. Nuggets and Wolves is the real 2024 NBA finals.
51 foul calls in a playoff game is downright preposterous. This game took forever.
At least it started at a reasonable time
Fuck Time Zones
Move us to the East PLEASE
Vegas expansion can't come sooner for y'all lol.
Ive always wondered this also lol
I’m tired boss
Baseball games are shorter than this.
Baseball games were shorter than this before the pitch clock
Ended just before 12:30 cst. That was a really bad viewing experience.
you knew this shit was going to last an entire era when suns shot double digit free throws in the first
And the Wolves still went to the half with a lead. What an amazing new feeling.
Yep. Terrible referring all night.
The fouls being called on the wolves in the first half were absurd . KAT and Ant were laughing at what they were getting hit with.
Suns were hacking in the 4th like crazy
Generational statpadding by beal and booker in the end
Those late 3s pissed me off so much after not shooting at all most of the game. They were almost trolling us.
I mean the Wolves left them open, they weren’t doing that when it was close.
I was really hoping we would lead by 42 for the memes
Glad Beal didn’t get hot until late because if that Beal showed up earlier we might have been toast lol.
He’s a garbage time star. That’s why he looked so good in Washington lol
Beal used to fall apart in the fourth in Washington. Swear this dude would dribble the ball off his leg like 3x per fourth
Watching the 3pt barrage in the 4th makes me think maybe Vogel was right and the Mid 3 were left (mid 3 is a crack on their shot profile, not their abilities compared to competition)
Imagine being down 3-0 in a playoffs series lmao.
they must feel so embarrassed lol
Losing to the same team 2 years in a row lmao
At this point KD should just join the Lakers.
Ngl, OKC looks like they could be up 3-0 too. Top 3 west teams all sweeping the first round would be a sight to see.
At least Pelicans would have an excuse for getting swept.
You can’t seriously be comparing the loss of Zion Williamson to NBA legends like Grayson Allen and Cam Reddish
The thing is even in real time everyone knew trading for Beal was a bad idea. Suns did it anyway.
KD actually joined a Super Team in Phoenix. Then he dismantled it and sold CP3 and Ayton who were the people responsible for him joining in the first place. Since they were the team that made the NBA Finals
Devin Booker: “Saying it respectfully, I don’t know how teams are gonna guard us.” Kevin Durant: “You can’t guard all of us at once.”
Yea but we got Jaden McDaniels
Everyone was laughing about that quote when it happened but so far it has aged like fine wine
Ant is a fucking prophet. Antstradamus? NostrANTdamus? NostraEDWARDS?
The west runs through NAW
Suns since this quote: 0 playoff wins this season 0 first round picks from 2025-2030 0 second round picks from 2024-2030
I knew it was bad but are you being serious?
They have the least favorable pick swaps for 2026/2028/2030 firsts, but the situation is bad
No, suns have picks, the picks are gonna be pick swaps, but still have picks.
The Stepien rule strikes again
That Stepien guy saved some teams from doing some really, really dumb shit
Without stepien rules, some franchise won't have a 1st round pick till 2050.
how is 0 first round picks from 2025-30 possible i thought the stepien rule prevented that
Swaps I guess
Contested midrange game was never sustainable, even if you had 3 guys who did it well
you don't need 3 of those guys, you need 1 for tough situations but the main goal of an offense should be to get to the rim, fouled or get open 3s. Phoenix just can't get the wolves to put 2 on the ball because none of their guys actually threaten the defense on every play. In contract the suns are forced to double Ant cause he'll just blow by his defender and get right to the rim
Rudy "Played off the floor" Gobert is +53 for the series The only thing playing him off of the floor is his own team making garbage time mandatory for Phoenix
His defense is great obviously but he's also averaging 86% from the line this series on nearly 8 attempts a game, that's just disrespectful
His FT shooting has been very solid the last few months.
This stat is insane lol
His FT this series has been incredible. It’s swishing too and he never swishes lol
Its nice to see jazz fans vindicated for the years of people arguing Rudy Gobert isn't that good and just a regular season player.
He's the best big man defender I've seen since prime Duncan. Just happy the narrative is starting to shift his way a bit, he deserves it
it’s extremely vindicating. after years of telling people gobert was our most important player, now people get to see first hand what we meant.
With how well ANT has played this is probably a bit controversial but in my opinion he’s been the best player in the series.
I strongly agree. Gobert has been unbelievable. The Wolves could probably win this series without Ant, but they definitely wouldn’t without Gobert.
kd and bron boutta get rd1 swept in the same week 😳
Suns vs Lakers in Cancun going to go crazy
We'll meet you there!
The Olympic starters all getting early rest for the summer😎
Hopefully this puts an end to the player/gm archetype
Another failed KD big 3
And this one is by far the stupidest. What were they thinking with the team construction lol
They thought they could just take turns Isoing and they’d be unstoppable lmao
They just wanna play 1s. Clown team
Beal’s contract is insane too. Never understood that move from the suns.
“Let him cook🔥” offense. Because since it didn’t work the first time, surely it’ll work the second
Easily worse than Harden/Kyrie trio.
The harden kyrie trio atleast had solid role players around them
Steph and Kawhi probably going to end with 0 playoff wins as well (Kawhi didn’t play in their win in G1)
If Kawhi keeps playing like this he's 100% losing the next two games lol Dude's putting up Draymond Green offensive statlines
His knee is absolutely cooked. I bet he's not even 80% right now.
3 straight games of Gobert getting played off the floor in the 4th
Nurk would be played off the floor if they had any depth
19-22 from the line
NINETEEN of TWENTY TWO. He was clutch from the line all season
+53 in 3 games
KD is -64
And is still by far the Suns best player
A bar so low you can trip over it
INSANE golf score
Benched in the final minutes 3 straight games? SMH not my dpoy
Undisputed most overrated player in the league winner, dynastic performance by him
Maybe we should give him a 5th DPOY just to annoy the other players
The DPOYs will continue until morale improves.
Had to play Luka Garza at the end SMH my head
EST GANG WHERE WE AT???
Kill me
Yeah F this shit 10:30 start time my ass. Tip off was 10:52.
ESPN is *always* 15-30 minutes late
These playoffs really feel like the official end of the Bron/Steph/KD/Kawhi era
Next round is presumably gonna star Jokic, SGA, Luka, and Ant in the West. Changing of the guards for sure
West semis is gonna be super entertaining if it’s those 4 teams
West semis compared to East semis is hilarious.
No Country for Old Men
Jokic is Anton Chigurh confirmed.
you been sittin on this one for awhile admit it
And the beginning of the Conley era. Out with the old in with the new.
Will be so weird to have none of these guys or CP3 in the second round.
You can (probably) throw Harden, Westbrook, and PG in there while you're at it.
Westbrook's era ended when he got traded to the Lakers
First time since 2005 where there is no Bron, KD, Steph, Chris Paul, Harden, or Kawhi in the 2nd round if the series all ended today where the teams with the lead advanced
Hey I haven't seen Steph lose a playoff game yet you never know what'll happen
Rudy should get the dpoy trophy awarded to him next game because this teams defence has been absolutely stifling. Suns can't get an open shot at all.
Give it to him before the next home game, so he can have a moment with the crowd.
Gobert and Ant duo is just too much for the top heavy depthless suns. Embarrassing Defense then tenacious offense. Ant has 16pts in 4th quarter
The wolves bench came through huge this game in the first half. 3 starters with 2 fouls each in the first quarter. And then they all each racked up 1 more in the 2nd. The fact that the team went into the half with a lead was amazing.
This team is so night and day different from every other Wolves team over the past 20 years, it’s surreal to watch
So what team is KD trading himself to in the offseason?
OKC
Time is a flat circle.
Timberwolves Legend Kevin Durant
The Iciest Road
Suns haven't held a lead in the last 65:49 of game time
Is that... really?
Yes 😭
They had a decent first quarter in game one+ one good first half in game two and it's been bad otherwise
The ref did try their best to foul out the Wolves in the first quarter
Yeah let's not let a 20 point victory distract us from the fact that the refs were absolutely fraudulent to start this game.
it was so obvious too and the Suns still couldn't capitalize

13 more to go
Yeah I'm lost, I can't find the updates anymore. This is the hardest Where's Waldo I've ever played
Give us the Wolves/ Nuggets series already
Fuuuuck, really wanted that first seed after all.
So did we.
Honestly both of us are just racing to the end of our series to get some extra rest lol
I was promised a series that would tire out the Wolves. Guess _that_ ain't happening.
Wolves depth is real. Ita going to be exhausting, obviously. But that bench is going to help alot.
Sim to next round, Inject Wolves/Nuggs into my veins
The Wolves won the Gobert trade.
And the Dlo trade. Connelly out here fleecing the Jazz.
Cavs had to, and it hasn't really panned out for them.
uncomfortable fact for certain people is that rudy gobert has been the best player in this series.
Man Gobert before he missed that free throw at the end was shooting 90% from the FT line lol.
Need him in that 50/-/90 club
Some might argue ANT, but I’d agree with you. We’re winning on defense and that doesn’t happen without Rudy. Honestly my best case scenario for this playoffs is wolves win the title and Gobert gets FMVP
Rudy Gobert getting FMVP would be r/NBA's 9-11.
KD requests trade. We get Shai. I laugh to the bank. I then wake up
I still can’t believe I’m watching the Minnesota Timberwolves
Can’t believe I get to watch a wolves team this good
The Wolves trade for Gobert was better than the Suns trade for KD.
Absolute nightmare matchup for the Wolves in round 1. You really hate to see it, awful luck
I’m sorry bc i definitely thought this before the series, im very glad to be wrong. Coach Finch is really amazing for y’all
Mike Conley Jr. Nickeil Alexander-Walker 3 second round picks
I don’t want to hear about “quit” after today. Tony Brothers kept going hard to the final… well, whistle.
Generational endurance
Gotta feel bad for the Refs man, they did all they could but the Wolves were just too much for them.
They're gassed Usually benches don't play *as much* of a role, but we go deep, and intentionally play hard, challenging every possession and harrying them at every turn When you have 3 guys you're relying on, and 3 bench players you are comfortable with (two of which are starting)........triage This is a WWI trenches grinding series, and they're the Germans.
I think you meant this the other way around
This might be the end of the old guard… Out of the playoffs: - Steph, Klay, and Draymond Down 0-3: - LeBron and Durant Down 1-2: - Kawhi, Harden, PG, and Westbrook
Mike Conley Up 3-0
The future is now old men!

I'm pretty sure at the end of the 3rd Quarter, the Suns only had 15 3-Point attempts. Half of the Wolves. What the fuck is this team doing lmao
Welcome to hell
For 20 years. 20 fucking years through Corey brewer. Through fucking Anthony Bennett. Through fucking Andrew Wiggins. I have watched this team. I watched coaches come and go. I have seen my team in the basement I have seen my team clowned on constantly. I’m from Minnesota where sports wise nothing good happens. It’s one game to go. Mike Conley tha god.
wolves, moon, sun, total eclipse…lookintoit!
I was promised a series that would tire out the Wolves, with a good chance to duck them outright. https://i.imgur.com/XHtqfOz.png
And we were making fun of the Gobert trade last year ☹️
There is a chance that LeBron, KD, and Steph combined wins a total of 0 playoff games this year. The Suns defense is swiss cheese and Anthony Edwards is actually just him.
Devin Booker has been taken hostage as a prisoner of war. He thinks to himself, knees trembling, will it be water boarding, sleep deprivation, or some other horror. *In walks Jaden McDaniels with a basketball* Booker immediate bursts into incoherent mumble of tears and screams
Fuck Booker for hip checking KAT
The last time Phoenix was leading was 5:49 in the 3rd quarter of game 2.
Goddamn, this Suns team is pathetic lol
tell me about it
76 pts from the “BIG 3” and still lost by 17. Idk yall that didn’t seem to be the solution either…
Let him go be a \#2 on a contender because it's always going to be hard to get him to be a consistent \#2 in Phoenix Suns in 4
Ant is leveling up in major way right before our eyes.
Ant is him
Twolves vs the Nuggets and Thunder vs Mavs will be generational
Despite the refs best efforts wolves almost blow out suns
