Going to the game tonight despite very little belief. Hope our guys at least fight hard like they did in game 4 and hold their heads high. Been a rollercoaster of a season, appreciate the guys for at least never turning on each other and staying the course as best as possible.
It was awesome, honestly kind of a weird energy cause I think most of the arena had very low expectations, so even when the Pacers cut the lead to 9 in the 3rd, you could basically feel everybody expect the wheels to fall off the wagon. But the team kept rallying and not letting them all the way back in. Big props to Beasley, dude rediscovered himself in the 2nd half tonight.
This is where Doc shines though. He's the ultimate coach for the Ewing theory. Whenever one or both his superstars are out, he actually coaches the team with a good gameplan.
Edit: Knew it. Bucks in 7.
Fans of teams that have been even remotely successful recently don't get it lol
Until about three seconds left in Game 4 I was genuinely worried that we were going to manage to be on the other end of the first full reverse sweep ever despite having dominantly won the first three games
Nah after 2020 i had full confidence in this teams ability to get it done while healthy. The crazy win streak they went on after trading for AG also gave me a ton of confidence and i was hype as fuck for 2021 playoffs before murray got injured.
I was most worried we'd get a random season ending injury and lose another year of title contention
Nothing is more annoying than a team lucking out due to injuries but trying to cope with it so they tell everyone "no no we actually play down to our competition so this isnt an advantage for us"
Like jesus christ there's no need for the mental gymnastics man lmao.
Worst record among all of the playoff teams against teams under .500 and 4th best against teams over .500. So it's been a fact all year. Not saying it's harder for them to play against the Bucks without stars, but it's factually been an issue with them all season.
This sub is hilarious. The Bucks are apparently some G-league level team that's worse than Washington, Portland and the bunch, but also with Giannis they would have swept us.
I think the fact I'm getting multiple strawman replies like this just proves my point. You all know I'm not saying that Giannis doesn't make the Bucks better. No point trying to even address that. The Bucks are a slightly below average team. The Pacers are a slightly above average team. The Pacers are favorites because they are better but it's not a massive shock if the Bucks win tonight, especially given the Pacers' game plan and their high variance which has led to both an unusual amount of wins against good teams and an unusual amount of losses against bad teams.
Nobody is suggesting otherwise. But Giannis by himself is not making the difference between what people are suggesting is for sure 4-1 loss and a reverse of the result. I would go so far as to say there is not a single player in NBA history that can make that turn around. The Bucks are 18-22 since Doc took over. Maybe they're just at their level?
I mean did you just start watching basketball yesterday? One superstar level player is absolutely the difference between a good team and a very bad team. Look at 76ers record with and without Embiid this year or what happened when the Warriors lost Steph. Bucks without Dame and Giannis are probably a lottery team.
Yeah. The Sixers with Embiid are still losing their series, the Warriors with Curry have lost every single play-in game they've ever played. One superstar doesn't immediately turn a team into an unstoppable juggernaut that will sweep everyone in their way.
How you gon get mad at fans of a team that watch what their team do religiously? If Pacers fans watch their team and see that they play down to their comp, I don’t watch every game they play so I would assume they aren’t lying. Some of yall are just being annoying for no reason.
they aren’t saying it’s not an advantage? it’s just a fact that the pacers lost more games to teams under 500 than any other team in the playoffs this season. we were more nervous playing the blazers than any time we played the knicks this season. not shots at the knicks or anything. we just shit the bed against bad teams all season
I don't think it's that. Obviously we should win and there's no excuse if we lose but we have lost a lot of games against terrible teams this year. That's just a fact
It’s so corny lmao you are literally getting bailed out by a team playing a playoff game without its two superstar best players trying to run some fake pessimism gimmick
These posts read even better now. I know no one watches the Pacers play, but thinking Pacers' fans, who watched them have the league's worst record against bad teams, weren't rightfully concerned is pretty great.
Every fanbase says they play down to competition against inferior opponents nobody cares lol not an excuse to lose a playoff game against a team missing their two best players. You guys would’ve gotten dog walked if we were healthy LMFAOOO
I agree, why are you arguing with me?
The Pacers are a pretty average team on balance. They're young and in the 2nd year of a rebuild. They're only the 6th seed in the East for a reason.
my reflex thinking is just that saying that the Bucks two stars being out is somehow bad for the Pacers is just a kick in the dick of their fans
flogging a dead horse and all
If you’re doing that in the playoffs yall aren’t going far lol I can understand in the regular season but need a whole new level of intensity in the playoffs
I watch almost every game numb nuts.
The only teams with more losses to sub .500 teams are the Pistons, Wizards, Spurs, Hornets, and Raptors. The reason we don’t have home court advantage in the first round is because we lost to the Nets in the last week of the year.
Man this sucks won’t even get to see Giannis in the playoffs this season, looked like he was on a mission all season.
People probably gonna downvote but I really think bucks take this series in 5 if they were both healthy
Not even the wildest clippers hater on earth would have predicted them to have the injury luck they’ve had.
Every team that’s won in recent memory has relied on a player with significant injury history
Denver had MPJ who had a ton of injuries, murray who was just coming off a torn acl
Warriors relied on klay
Bucks relied on Middleton and giannis who has missed more playoffs than he’s played in in the last few years
Lakers relied on AD and a like 36 year old Lebron
Raptors relied on kawhi who was limping through the last 2 series’.
It’s dumb to act like the clippers of all teams were dumb to build around kawhi, hasn’t worked out for them but they have been a perpetual contender. They just had shitty luck.
Dude honestly just for ONE FUCKING YEAR, i want a true playoff run where no stars get injured. I feel like this has literally never happened before and it’s so disappointing for everyone
Regular season doesn’t matter though, suns swept the t wolves season series and look what happened.
Both teams were completely different, Griffin, imo was worse than Ham. He had 0 clue what he was doing on either end of that court with the roster.
Look at Dames stats against yall in the regular season then compare to this series, he looked like he was on a mission as well.
Maybe it goes more than 5 games but I just don’t see the pacers winning against a healthy bucks team, Giannis solves a lot of issues they are having this series.
You're right, if only they weren't missing a *checks notes* all defensive player.
And before you say "well we still won with Giannis playing" I'm pretty sure we didn't play you guys with Doc and Giannis. And considering our defense went from bottom 5 defense to league average after Doc took over, so I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it would've made a difference.
Dude, the regular season isn't the playoffs.
Blazers lost to OKC 0-4 and the Nuggets 0-3, only to beat both of those teams en route to the WCF
It isn't the same lol
The bucks defensively have looked about the best the can without Giannis this series, their main problem has been Siakam imo
Despite the bad record their defense was better under doc
Look I get their good but the lack of credit is ridiculous. The only two games in 9 they have beat us is when Giannis went for 60 and dame put up 35 in a half. We’ve had their number. People saying “yeah the playoffs though” like they weren’t going balls to the wall in the IST.
They can’t guard the 3 ball, even with Giannis, and they’ve struggled to keep up with our pace.
Again, they are different from when you guys were 4-1.
Y’all have literally shot like shit from 3 in almost every matchup aside from like 2 against them as well lol.
Also again, suns swept the twolves and twolves had almost 0 problems with them in the playoffs.
Playoffs are different and always have been from the regular season
You aren’t getting what I’m saying lol
Dame performed like shit every time in the regular season, he was clearly on another level in the playoffs and he had been saying it all season from every presser I’ve seen “I think if we can just get to the playoffs we can turn it on” and that’s what he was doing at least.
There was been 4 blowouts in y’all’s 9 matchups, 2 by the pacers and 2 by the bucks. Other than that every game had been close and a few made buckets/less tos and it could’ve been different.
Also Haliburton averaged 27/11 against them in the regular season, he’s no longer that good right now.
Giannis would help a ton on guarding Siakam and getting boards.
They would essentially be adding at least a 30 ppg scorer to their team and I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t at least averaged 35 against yall in a playoff setting.
You look back at the suns and they owned the Mavs every time they played for awhile there and then mavs ended up beating them in the playoffs.
You can say "playoffs different" all you want, but we've beaten them SEVEN fucking times this year. seven wins isn't a fluke. It's a pattern. And you haven't watched us play each other all season if you think those were normal regular season games. I swear, "playoffs different" is the laziest take I've seen.
We aren't the bum ass suns with only 2 decent players. Our guys play like a team. We have 6 guys averaging double figures in the playoffs. The Suns had 3. They are a terribly built team.
The Bucks have lost to us because they are slow and don't guard the 3 ball well. It's how we've beaten them every single time we've won. The only times they've beaten us is when Giannis scored a franchise record 64 points and when we shot 20% under our 3point average.
After playing 6 times in 8 years from 1993-2000, they have only met once in the playoffs in the 23 years since then, in 2013. Would be a great rivalry to get renewed.
no reseeding in the NBA playoffs. seeds 1/8 and 4/5 are on the same side of the bracket, so they play in 2nd round. seeds 2/7 and 3/6 are on the opposite side
Dame uprooted his life and fan base for this. We the fans are missing out on some fantastic playoff basketball this year without Dame Giannis Zion Butler Kahwi and then there’s guys who played hurt like AD Luka Embiid
I just want a healthy playoff run 😭😭😭
I think with the divorce not as fresh, no off-season drama, and an actual year of chemistry Dame will be way better next year. We haven't really seen players of his caliber just fall off. We're talking about a guy who was a top 5 offensive player in the league on 22-23.
I think pairing 2 or more stars that are aging/have injury history via a mega trade never works anymore. Lebron and AD was the one exception for one season and it was a shortened bubble season with no travel and AD was only 26 years old and lebron was 35 and had always been an iron man.
Edit: you can downvote, but the bucks just failed cuz they now have 2 now injury prone aging stars, the kd nets failed cuz of injuries, the suns failed cuz they gave up too much and beal/booker were injured a lot and have no depth/chemistry and cp3 got injured before that, the clippers have failed time and time again because of injuries, the lakers have failed every season since the championship with their 2 stars are too old/injury prone to carry.
Giannis is 29 and has really never missed a ton of time with injuries. Dame is 33, but has played less than 58 games just once in his career.
I don't see how you can call either guy injury prone, I don't even see how you can really call Giannis aging at 29, especially when it could be argued he is/was playing possibly his best basketball this season. Unfortunate timed injuries doesn't automatically equal injury prone.
And? People said the same thing about the Big 3 Nets. And the Clippers a few years ago. And the Warriors when they signed D Cousins. And the 76ers when they got Tobias Harris.
Once the season actually started it was clear as day that this team wasn't ready for a legit playoff run at that moment. Throw in coaching issues and injuries to our three best players throughout the season, I don't think anyone had us pegged for any serious championship run. I think that was obvious well before the Doc Rivers hire.
Going to the game tonight despite very little belief. Hope our guys at least fight hard like they did in game 4 and hold their heads high. Been a rollercoaster of a season, appreciate the guys for at least never turning on each other and staying the course as best as possible.
So you gotta go to all the games from now on no?
Was at game 1, but not game 2… so yeah, this might be my fault.
This game was for you homie, hope it ruled
It was awesome, honestly kind of a weird energy cause I think most of the arena had very low expectations, so even when the Pacers cut the lead to 9 in the 3rd, you could basically feel everybody expect the wheels to fall off the wagon. But the team kept rallying and not letting them all the way back in. Big props to Beasley, dude rediscovered himself in the 2nd half tonight.
Any good "Bobby" chants?
so far its not too bad eh
Did you buy the ticket early, or purchased them later knowing the stars were out and tix were cheap?
Got the ticket yesterday, figured everybody would be out, but I like to try to be there for the potential last game of the season.
You must’ve had a blast! That’s awesome
I was there! What a fucking loudass amazing game.
Jae Crowder legacy game
Jae has looked so washed after his surgery this season I feel over-hydrated just typing this
about to play his ass into retirement
So 9 points and 4 rebounds
Series is over
Uhhh… about that…

milk
SIKE!
You don’t understand how badly we play to our competition.
Yall said that last game
And the game before that.
It's hilarious. They talking themselves down like they're underdogs. Just take the free W, jesus christ.
That's what having losing records against the Hornets and Blazers does to Pacers fans lmao
Fans of teams that have been even remotely successful recently don't get it lol Until about three seconds left in Game 4 I was genuinely worried that we were going to manage to be on the other end of the first full reverse sweep ever despite having dominantly won the first three games
That’s how I felt last year 😭 wolves fans are in for a treat this year
Sure hope so!

spot on assessment
honestly real
So funny that we swept yall
This post aged so well
This sub is jokes man
And it's been true both times.
To be fair, they played to their competition. They just assumed Portis would be there the whole game.
We did it last game until the fourth quarter
Nothing is more annoying than a team lucking out due to injuries but trying to cope with it so they tell everyone "no no we actually play down to our competition so this isnt an advantage for us" Like jesus christ there's no need for the mental gymnastics man lmao.

With Giannis and Dame absolutely.
If this team is good enough to sweep the Pacers with Giannis surely they should be good enough to at least hang around without him then?
Once again, Giannis and Dame, both star players are out.
Team with a top 2 player is better with top 2 player. More at 6.

Everyone in the east is "lucking out due to injuries." I don't think there's a single healthy team left except maybe orlando.

I’m so sure

Lol settle down
The Pacers lost a total of 9 games to the Wizards, Hornets, Spurs, Blazers, Raptors, and Grizzlies. It's been a story for the team all year.
Seriously it’s so fucking annoying, somehow trying to make themselves the underdog
We are definitely the favorites but this game isn’t a lock, all I’m saying.
Lol yeah its crazy right?
Lmao

that obviously doesnt matter at all, its the playoffs
I mean, they were in a close game all last game until the very end, and that was with Portis out. It clearly matters, but go off
honestly thats called being an average team, not "playing down to our competition"
I agree, why are you arguing with me? The Pacers are a pretty average team on balance. They're young and in the 2nd year of a rebuild. They're only the 6th seed in the East for a reason.

the series is what?
Knicks fans... 👆... this is why y'all lost tonight. Come grab your nephew
Moist Jordan ftw.
Yikes
Man this sucks won’t even get to see Giannis in the playoffs this season, looked like he was on a mission all season. People probably gonna downvote but I really think bucks take this series in 5 if they were both healthy
We had a good chance to beat them. It's unfortunate, but injuries are part of the game and it is what is, I've made my peace with it lol.
We won the chip and then our next 3 years were derailed due to injury
The injury giveth and the injury taketh away
Probably wouldn’t have won it without injuries, injury gods giveth injury gods taketh
I think at this point they've taken enough away, it's been 3 season of this lol.
Try being a clippers fan
don’t wish that on anyone
Too true
They constructed their roster around a habitually injured star and bunch of old timers, what did they expect would happen?
Not even the wildest clippers hater on earth would have predicted them to have the injury luck they’ve had. Every team that’s won in recent memory has relied on a player with significant injury history Denver had MPJ who had a ton of injuries, murray who was just coming off a torn acl Warriors relied on klay Bucks relied on Middleton and giannis who has missed more playoffs than he’s played in in the last few years Lakers relied on AD and a like 36 year old Lebron Raptors relied on kawhi who was limping through the last 2 series’. I’m glad you got your chip. Gotta live with this and accept it for what it is
Didn’t you beat the Nets the year you won the championship because of injuries?
Easily. Giannis in the playoffs is an animal
> Man this sucks won’t even get to see Giannis in the playoffs this season We know that feel. All the injuries suck
Dude honestly just for ONE FUCKING YEAR, i want a true playoff run where no stars get injured. I feel like this has literally never happened before and it’s so disappointing for everyone

Well, Embiid was out for the bubble. Not that we were gonna make a deep run anyway.

4 of those wins are without Giannis.. be for real dude. Bucks sweep or win in 5 if he wasn’t hurt. The Pacers are not that good
[Milwaukee Bucks] ~~Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard are both~~ Milwaukee Bucks are out for tonight’s game. Fixed.
Update??
Knicks Pacers is gonna be good. They like to run and gun and we like to slowly kill in the half court.
After playing 6 times in 8 years from 1993-2000, they have only met once in the playoffs in the 23 years since then, in 2013. Would be a great rivalry to get renewed.
Neither series is over. Especially the Knicks Philly one.
On the 30-year anniversary of the world being introduced to Reggie Miller, especially Knicks fans at the Garden, and Spike Lee.
and now things might be Bucks Sixers lmao
Knicks pacers? I think you mean sixers bucks
I still think Philly wins the series
It will be fun. I remember those old school series and they were classics
Hope it's a better series than Suns - Wolves
Isn't Boston suppose to be getting Indiana? I thought we would face off against the winner of Magic/Cavs?
No it’s Celtics vs magic/cavs and Knicks vs pacers/bucks
no reseeding in the NBA playoffs. seeds 1/8 and 4/5 are on the same side of the bracket, so they play in 2nd round. seeds 2/7 and 3/6 are on the opposite side

Add Porzingis to the list 😩
And Coach Finch (?!) 😳
What’s up with Luka?

Pacers by 1 point in double OT
Middleton with 45 on 30 shots and a clutch 3 to send it to OT but ultimately falls short

congrats to doc on having a job next year see y'all in 2026
Well fuck. Gg pacers.
sad season for the bucks
"Oh, I wasn't quite as sick as I made out."
Indiana bout to act like they beat prime MJs bulls though
RIP Bucks season injuries suck
Fuck. My disappointment is immeasurable & my day is ruined.
Bucks are done, lilard gonna be a year older and worse plus rivers gets one more chance to hurt his reputation,.
I think Lillard is still gonna be good next season, I think having a full offseason with Giannis will help a lot
I think with the divorce not as fresh, no off-season drama, and an actual year of chemistry Dame will be way better next year. We haven't really seen players of his caliber just fall off. We're talking about a guy who was a top 5 offensive player in the league on 22-23.

Without Dame and Giannis, this is going to be a hard game for the Bucks.
Dame gonna look great in a Heat jersey next season

We got eliminated by the 8th seed literally last season.

Which they could be if they hadn't faced all the injuries.Other than that, every contender believes in themselves.
