Wemby might get blocks from Hakeem but I highly doubt he's going to get the rebounding record from Wilt.
He'd have to play for almost 19 more full seasons worth of games while averaging 15 rebounds a game.
If not for the second half of the year mini resurgence he had a horrendous year after breaking out. Really has to get better at shooting and getting stronger
I think it was noticeable that Germany went all the way in the World Cup. Shortened off season and lingering injuries. Magic are young he will come back improved
If memory serves, the assassination failed, and on his way home, by chance the assassin crossed paths with Franz’s carriage again and this time took the shot and made it.
Oh, I didn't know that. I knew he was sticking around for some reason, didn't know that was for a sandwich.
Better be an insane sandwich, it resulted in the downfall of the German, Russian, Ottoman, Austro Hungary empire, the weakening of the British and French Empire, and the rise of the American and Japanese empires, not to mention smaller implications.
I did try a killer Croatian sandwich in Phoenix of all places, grilled eggplant, Balkan sausage, raw onions I think, that was off the chain; it made no sense it is more available.
The sandwich thing is just a modern myth, he was at a food shop but had just repositioned along the archdukes motorcade path in an attempt to finish the job.
My memory recalled John Starks was 1-19 from the field in the finals against the Rockets and didn’t understand why he wasn’t listed with Franz Wagner.
I had to look it up. Turns out my memory was slightly off and that he was 2 for 18 in his infamous game.
Yeah, the 2-18 line is burned into the retinas of every Knicks fan over 35.
Apparently, he got the yips after Hakeem blocked his game winning 3 attempt in game 6. 😢
Horrendous player. To think some fans really took it seriously, this dude tried to guard freaking Michael Jordan 1v1 lol c'mon now, Ewing and Riley deserved better than this
i cant help but feel Jamahl Mosley dropped the ball. they had mobley, garland, and mitchell in foul trouble early in the 3rd already and they didn't press the issue with drives. they settled for extremely slow and predictable post-up plays rather than attack, which Cleveland ended up doing really effectively
The game was lost in the late 2nd and early 3rd quarters imo. When Cleveland got the lead, it was pretty much over. I respect Banchero, but by the end they were basically asking him to go head up against a truly known killer in Donovan Mitchell. Give him that matchup again in four years with Paolo coming through a fancy Avenger’s portal, sure. But tonight it was an unreasonable ask that of him. Franz pulled a Peter Quill.
I’ve been saying this all season, he is a net negative as far as game management goes - but the whole sub is hype on the ~good vibes~ the team has and will hear none of it.
My hot take is that Mosley got coach of the year nominations based on Paolo/franz/Suggs being dawgs, and a better coach would have had us in the number 2 seed.
I was so ready to be on the “we were never supposed to be here, we’re ahead of schedule, future is bright” positivity train but this is such an insanely sour note for our #2 guy to end the year on that I’m gonna be stressed about his future for the entire offseason.
Nah. Nothing to stress. We have not seen Paolo's final form.
Franz is also getting better.
Got our picks and everyone on rookie deals besides Ji who I think we may actually resign
Point Paolo and an offense run primarily through Franz just aren't sustainable in the playoffs. I expect they'll still both be great with a better PG running the show though. I honestly think they'd be a perfect Trae destination. They have the defense to cover for him and they desperately need his playmaking.
Yea I go back and forth on this.
The team started winning with point Paolo (+ some your turn/my turn initiation with franz)
They were not winning when they had a pure point (fultz)with the ball in his hands and Paolo and Franz running around off ball trying to get open only to get the ball and call fro another pick themselves.
Franz is good at cutting and some off ball actions but by my eye, Paolo needs the ball in his hands in the halfcourt to do his damage. A trae kind messes that up.
I think the beauty in the magic's top 3 is everyone can playmake a bit, everyone can (and will get better at) shoot a bit, and they all can play defense.
I think one more shooter (along the mold of Strus, divincenzo, hart,) gives the spacing point Paolo needs to blossom even more.
Agree. People are insanely reactionary. Franz is a good young player and a couple of bad games in his first playoffs series has people going the "HIS ASS SHOULD BE GONE" take already. This sub is legit a carbon copy of all the worst aspects about modern hot take sports media.
Yea. It's not just our sub. There are nephews in every team sub. Just the state of fandom in 24 really.
Season was a huge success. This series was even a success imo.
Now, next year, a first round exit won't be a success anymore. Now there is an expectation. So let's see how this core navigates that.
I like franz and definitely think he should stay on the team but I can’t really say I blame reactionary fans. His 3 point % declined hard this year (something the team needs) and he disappeared in the playoffs while Paolo tried to carry.
He struggled tonight but "disappeared" in the playoffs? You could make a case for him being the best player on the Magic in the playoffs before tonight's game. I think some people have a really warped perception.
His shot is also so much worse than last year though, really needs to get back to elevating his shot arc like he did in his rookie year. Not sure what they thought they were fixing when they asked him to shoot like this but it’s been a down year for him anywhere outside of 10 feet
The dude got a broke jump shot form. Whoever worked with Suggs need to work with him. Ain’t no reason a 6’10 dude should be shooting so low and one the way down. Plus he got no versatility on the jumper. He doesn’t have a step back. He got a bad turnaround and he doesn’t have like a normal on the move fadeaway. It’s weird because pretty much everyone has that in the bag but he doesn’t. He’s a great driver to the basketball but that’s so easy to gameplan for in a 7 game series.
We're fine. I was at game 6. You can tell this team is still very raw but talented and have heart. I do think they would benefit greatly from a big center or traditional point guard to run the offense.
Banchero was pretty good when I watched the game. The only player in Orlando that could generate offense. Shooting splits don’t tell the entire story. Suggs was playing elite level premier defense. Wagner didn’t give the Magic anything tonight.
Dude sucked in the National Title Game for Michigan too.
He was a big part of Michigan making it there, but he unfortunately has a track record of going ice cold in the biggest moments.
and he's young so mistakes will happen, but sad to see him let Paolo down
I look forward to seeing how Magic flairs feel about their roster's 1 vs 2 or 1a vs 1b when emotions settle
Even with emotions not high all season I’ve said Paolo is our clear cut #1 unless. It’s being successful if you can’t shoot in the NBA. Paolo generally rises to the occasion saw it game 5 as well.
Yeah it happens with young teams. We got a bunch of dudes who had never been in the playoffs before. Great for them to experience the intensity and see what’s needed to win. They will either come back better.
Issuing correction on a previous post of mine, regarding the terror group Boston Celtics. You do not, under any circumstances, "gotta hand it to them".
They said on the broadcast, he told them he’s an overthinker and was in his own head about his shot. He lost all confidence in his jumper and then the rest of his game from there
Can any Magic fans explain what happened to Franz's 3-pt shot pre- and post- All Star break in particular? 18% from the arc during the 2nd half of the season is awful, and 2/16 from deep in his last 3 playoff games is unacceptable
He’s tired and got no break over the summer like everyone else.
I also suspect that he came back early from his ankle injury which is impacting his shooting.
My boy Franz had a disaster class after winning the MVP of the final game in the World Cup, struggling with his 3 ball all year.
I’m disappointed but damn, Lord knows how Orlando really need some shooters.
Shocking how Kobe is not in the top 10, that game 7 vs the Celtics was a instant classic, dude was bricking shot after shot, fighting for his own loose balls, lol that game was a literal war, the last breath of the NBA. And of course, Starks was predictable, to allow a role player to take that many shots in the finals because your "star" center was being crushed by God Olajuwon
Which is crazy, because I went to game 4 in Orlando and dude was going fucking nuts, he kept the team going during a bad Paolo game and looked great, he went 13-17, idek what happened in this game. Away games don’t cause you to drop to stats like that
Reminiscent of his final game at michigan when he went 1-10 for 4 points in a freaking 51-49 loss to UCLA. I was losing my mind and the bitter taste of that game has genuinely made it a little bit difficult for me to want to support him as a pro. I never claimed to be rational.
Tbh this isn't the first time Franz has shot terribly in an elimination game.
I remember the elite eight game against UCLA where Franz only had like 4 points on 1-10 shooting. Just an awful performance.
He might just not be Him.
No one has ever said that. You know you’re making that up. Reddit always does this shit, some solid player is decent then they say “oh and I argued with someone who said he was better than so and so.” All just for Reddit karma.
Damn, Europeans really are taking over all of the NBA records
People always looking for the new MJ/Kobe/Lebron, at least now we know Franz is the new Playoff Harden/Paul George
John starks game 7
2-18 if memory serves
Yuck
Franz is the new Bob Cousy
Only a bob can bask in the limelight of another bob, franz is just a cheap imitation
The Bob Emergency :(
Flair checks out
The Celtics won though
I can’t have this conversation again, but putting hardens name in there is absolutely absurd.
At least rebounds and blocks will be safe.
No way wemby gets 56 rebounds in a game
Steph Curry is America's greatest patriot, defending shooting records as all else falls to the giants of Europe.
wemby?
reckon that's the joke
Wemby might get blocks from Hakeem but I highly doubt he's going to get the rebounding record from Wilt. He'd have to play for almost 19 more full seasons worth of games while averaging 15 rebounds a game.
Good blockers get less rebounds anyway for obvious reasons
Unless ur Wilt Fuckin Chamberlain
Gilbert Arenas is fuming rn.
Gilbert Arenas’ 12/25
He had 3 really shitty games from the field (5/17, 3/11, 1/15). *Narrator: They lost all 3 games.*
I mean, he is the second best player of the team
That's the problem, yeah
Not today he wasn’t.
He's mid anyway no biggie
If not for the second half of the year mini resurgence he had a horrendous year after breaking out. Really has to get better at shooting and getting stronger
I think it was noticeable that Germany went all the way in the World Cup. Shortened off season and lingering injuries. Magic are young he will come back improved
[удалено]
FIBA World Cup they meant
Ah yeah, hangover brain.. fixed it thanks!
He’s talking bout the FIBA World Cup btw
If a shortened offseason because of international competition was his excuse, then I have bad news about next season...
Franz put the wurst in currywurst
Yet he was doing the most talking
Wrong Wagner
He didn’t talk as much as most but franz did his fair share of yappin
Franz was waving to the crowd every time he scored
Soooo once?
He was just sayin hallo
It’s the playoffs? Would you rather everyone be buddy buddy lmao
Not the first time a Franz has made history. Not sure which was worse
Take me out!
I know I won't be leaving here... with a W
That shot didn't miss though
The first time it did.
someone refresh my memory?
Archduke Franz Ferdinand?
Hans and Franz will pump you up! Mo and Franz will beat you up!
Homie escaped a grenade attack first only to be shot on the way back... You run that play 100 times, he probably survives 95% of them.
If memory serves, the assassination failed, and on his way home, by chance the assassin crossed paths with Franz’s carriage again and this time took the shot and made it.
Yeah, the driver also made a wrong turn and was backing up, giving the assassin ample time to aim.
iirc the assassin was buying a sandwich when he saw him lol
Oh, I didn't know that. I knew he was sticking around for some reason, didn't know that was for a sandwich. Better be an insane sandwich, it resulted in the downfall of the German, Russian, Ottoman, Austro Hungary empire, the weakening of the British and French Empire, and the rise of the American and Japanese empires, not to mention smaller implications. Franz Ferdinand, start of WWI
Ever heard of world War 1?
WWII has a prequel???
The band Franz Ferdinand had a hit single in 2004 called Take Me Out. No idea what anyone else is talking about.
But at least one has also made it in a very good way!
John Starks 💔
My memory recalled John Starks was 1-19 from the field in the finals against the Rockets and didn’t understand why he wasn’t listed with Franz Wagner. I had to look it up. Turns out my memory was slightly off and that he was 2 for 18 in his infamous game.
Yeah, the 2-18 line is burned into the retinas of every Knicks fan over 35. Apparently, he got the yips after Hakeem blocked his game winning 3 attempt in game 6. 😢
Stop shooting. Stop shooting!
That is a rough one as an Ewing fan. Probably the roughest
Horrendous player. To think some fans really took it seriously, this dude tried to guard freaking Michael Jordan 1v1 lol c'mon now, Ewing and Riley deserved better than this
In no way was he a horrendous player what are you talking about
We wouldn’t have even made it to Game 7 without him. Are you on drugs?
6/6/6 on 6.66% shooting lol
"a man possessed"
i cant help but feel Jamahl Mosley dropped the ball. they had mobley, garland, and mitchell in foul trouble early in the 3rd already and they didn't press the issue with drives. they settled for extremely slow and predictable post-up plays rather than attack, which Cleveland ended up doing really effectively
Yup, called one timeout the whole quarter. Mose needed the experience this season as much as the players
You mean the all bench lineups wasn’t a good idea
Bro is out there coaching game 7 like regular season game
The game was lost in the late 2nd and early 3rd quarters imo. When Cleveland got the lead, it was pretty much over. I respect Banchero, but by the end they were basically asking him to go head up against a truly known killer in Donovan Mitchell. You need to touch grass if you are stressing about the future of Franz for the entire off-season.
Nothing to be stressed about, your players just have to get older. At least you aren't in our position
Dudes 22
His shot is also so much worse than last year though, really needs to get back to elevating his shot arc like he did in his rookie year. Not sure what they thought they were fixing when they asked him to shoot like this but it’s been a down year for him anywhere outside of 10 feet

A tribute to John Starks
Suggs and Wagner went 3/28 combined Banchero was 10/28 13/56 between just them 3, too much pressure on the youngsters
Banchero did what he could
Banchero was pretty good when I watched the game. The only player in Orlando that could generate offense. Shooting splits don’t tell the entire story. Suggs was playing elite level premier defense. Wagner didn’t give the Magic anything tonight.
Coming to a milk carton near you

Feel bad for him. Hopefully this isn’t a career defining game for him and he can bounce back next season.
He’s only 22 he’s going to continue to improve. Unless he pulls a Ben Simmons
His jumper actually has gotten worse since he entered the league
Bro came up smaller than an ant out there today
Magic- Blew a 18 game 7 lead, biggest choke in game 7 history
In a world with both Doc Rivers and James Harden, I find this hard to believe.
Yeah it happens with young teams. We got a bunch of dudes who had never been in the playoffs before. Great for them to experience the intensity and see what’s needed to win. They will either come back better.
Magic choked but you guys are acting like they blew the lead in the 3rd/4th
Choking it that fast is even worse
Franz still had a great series. I am impressed with the Magic.
Thanks. Good luck. This is your year imo.
Ah damn homie thinks he’s on the team
Timberwolves v Celtics would be such a sick series
Issuing correction on a previous post of mine, regarding the terror group Boston Celtics. You do not, under any circumstances, "gotta hand it to them".
[удалено]
Dude's just trying to be cordial. No need to be an ass. Unless I'm getting whooshed on some joke.
Some people take this shit way too seriously
Who was the higher seed and won more games again? What team is about to lose their star player??
How dare u speak about " losing their star" to me dude lmao
"How dare u" 🤓
Yea nice reply, get boxed in dude
Bro is setting records
No reason to overreact to one game. Some people who don't even watch the Magic are jumping to conclusions about Franz.
Tough game but he'll bounce back. Magic have played a great series for their age.
That is actually crazy what happened?
They said on the broadcast, he told them he’s an overthinker and was in his own head about his shot. He lost all confidence in his jumper and then the rest of his game from there
luck and we clamped down defense after halfway in the 2nd quarter like it was 1995 also Mobley took a few shots of the fuck you juice in the 4th
Lights got too bright
He won gold mate.
Put it behind you Franz! Come back stronger
Throwing up tour dates
My boy Franz had a disaster class after winning the MVP of the final game in the World Cup, struggling with his 3 ball all year. I’m disappointed but damn, Lord knows how Orlando really need some shooters.
He’s had a career year in basically every stat excerpt his 3 ball lol
Ah well. Young team, young player. Everyone goes through their growing pains on the big stage. I’m sure he’ll come back from it better.
A true michigan man
He actually did something very similar in his last game at Michigan, shooting 1-10 for 4pts when they lost in the Elite 8
Yikes, he just might not be good under pressure, which is not a great sign.
Goodness
Shocking how Kobe is not in the top 10, that game 7 vs the Celtics was a instant classic, dude was bricking shot after shot, fighting for his own loose balls, lol that game was a literal war, the last breath of the NBA. And of course, Starks was predictable, to allow a role player to take that many shots in the finals because your "star" center was being crushed by God Olajuwon
Hit the showers Franz
Finally John Starks vindicated
Sharman and Cousy went a combined 5/40 and they still won the game in double OT.
**Tobias Harris has entered the chat**
Tobias doesn’t even shoot enough to make these rankings. At least Franz was trying
Here's something crazy, the 2nd worst and 4th worst were by Bill Sharman and Bob Cousy in the same game and THEY STILL WON.
Bob Cousey was never any good. - JJ Redick probably.
He was outplayed by the Game 7 Suns. Put that into perspective.
Which is crazy, because I went to game 4 in Orlando and dude was going fucking nuts, he kept the team going during a bad Paolo game and looked great, he went 13-17, idek what happened in this game. Away games don’t cause you to drop to stats like that
He better start shooting drills tomorrow
The kid's like what, 22? Tough beat for sure. He has to take his lumps and grind this off-season with his brother.
He's 22 yes. In his first ever playoff series. And they made the Cavs fucking work for it.
Reminiscent of his final game at michigan when he went 1-10 for 4 points in a freaking 51-49 loss to UCLA. I was losing my mind and the bitter taste of that game has genuinely made it a little bit difficult for me to want to support him as a pro. I never claimed to be rational.
Ultimate choke job
Bob Cousy and Bill Sharman combined to shoot 5/40 in their game and they still somehow managed to pull out a win in double OT
He's the Yuro Gil was talking about lol
John Starks would be proud
John Starks was asked for his opinion of Wagner's performance and he just shook his head.
Better get on the juggs machine
hang the banner
Cant play without home crowd
Rather that than Tobias going 0-2
What a great day to pick him for over 18 points.
Hoop Collextive will def have this as trivia
I remember reading here he was better than Banchero not long ago
No that was Chet.
Sucks for him, but this team was inexperienced going in, generally efficiency/shot selection is something you see improve the second time around
My GOAT...?
So many "worst" performances this year. Shit is rigged.
His biggest impact on the series was breaking Jarrett's rib with multiple elbows to the torso.
Get ready to learn Detroitanese buddy
A lot of lies was told about him this year
Tbh this isn't the first time Franz has shot terribly in an elimination game. I remember the elite eight game against UCLA where Franz only had like 4 points on 1-10 shooting. Just an awful performance. He might just not be Him.
He showed up in all elimination games of the world cup... Maybe Fiba Ball just suits him better (Not saying he should return to europe)?
I remember Michigan falling off a cliff when he left for the NBA
Not ideal to have a historically bad series in the last games before your major contract Magic may have saved themselves some money on his rfa deal
I mean the Magic in general where just completely out of sync offensively wouldnt put it all on Franz..
I literally saw shit running down his leg
I was told he has a young Allstar and the best player in his class
it's funny that he was talking all kinds of shit, along with his brother, earlier in the series....
Maybe you should have eliminated them in less than 7 games. Didn't they bomb for this matchup?
Last person who was missing this hard was Amelia earhardt. Man this dude disappeared so bad.
And I had someone argue that he’s better than Dirk.
No one has ever said that. You know you’re making that up. Reddit always does this shit, some solid player is decent then they say “oh and I argued with someone who said he was better than so and so.” All just for Reddit karma.
Oh they had quotes and everything
Why argue with someone that stupid or obviously trolling
