What will we do when the TNT crew is dismantled?
Maybe they’ll start their own podcast and say screw the TV networks. I’ll tune in any day of the week.
Imagine an uncensored TNT halftime show. Lol. Fights will break out for sure.
Dread it, run from it, Dwight Powell remains all the same! But for real tho man we gotta put up respect for the man he put up for the mavs for years he do deserve some respect on his name lol
Me and my buddies were laughing so hard reading one of those draft posts. Like yeah being from europe we were exposed to to his games way more than americans so we knew what he was about early on... But I just can't believe how sure US media and fans were about Luka not being anything special just because he played against grown men instead some random college kids.
It taught me that most posters here don't know what the fuck they're talking about and to take anything NBA media says with a truckload of salt.
It's wild to me that so many basketball fans don't quite understand the extreme gap between playing against college-aged kids and playing against fully-grown man. I mean, just the physicality and experience alone are on another level. It's always impressive to me when a rookie like Chet, Wemby or Lively adapts to the game within a few months.
16-2 to end the year baby. The regular season definitely matters, but I think we’re seeing that nobody in the nba wants to be in a 7 game series against Luka and Kyrie.
That's the thing right?
This is even more impressive when you think about the fact that the Mavs have not been favored to make the WCF even once in Luka's career. Talking heads are all about Warriors, Nuggets, Suns, Lakers for the last 3 years in the West, but Luka is showing that he can do it with any semblance of help.
Deeply painful for Mavs that Brunson doing the same thing in the East.
It’s really not painful for us tbh. We wouldn’t have Kyrie if we had kept Brunson. That switch basically cost us a 2029 pick and a wasted 2023, but that bad year got us Lively. So very likely we don’t have Likely if we keep Brunson. I’m very happy with how it turned out, even if it was objectively stupid on our part.
That’s the thing: when your franchise starts making good decisions, it can wipe away the bad decisions way quicker than you would think.
Edit: I say this as someone that is rooting against the Knicks so hard so maybe I’m not over it lmao
I’m so sick of hearing about what a missed opportunity that was for us. People overlook a few very important facts.
1. When he became eligible for an extension, he had just been played off the floor against the Clippers in our first series against them.
2. He always wanted to be the man on his own team. He knew he would be Robin in Dallas.
3. His dad is a freaking coach for the Knicks and his godfather is in the front office. It was a done deal he was heading to NY.
> That’s the thing: when your franchise starts making good decisions, it can wipe away the bad decisions way quicker than you would think.
Are you looking at my Pistons flair as you type this
Atlanta Hawks made it to the ECF (swept by LeBron), tore it down/tanked, and made it back to the ECF (lost to Bucks in 6) since the last time the Sixers made it. Always blows my mind.
I always wondered what happened after the run with Trae you guys had. That was an all time villain arc for Trae too. I haven't followed you guys much but what did actually happen?
Long story short? Overachieved. That ECF run was fun but it was also one of the worst things to happen. Instead of continuing to build the team slowly with young talent (like our old GM wanted) ownership/team convinced themselves we were contenders. When we fell back to earth the year after, they talked themselves into the Murray trade (which has been awful b/c he & Trae don’t fit). Now we’re in no man’s land, yearly Play-In contenders but nothing more. Going to be an interesting offseason for sure, especially after landing the number 1 pick (wish it was a better draft but hey we had a 3% chance to get it lol so I can’t complain).
damn - got a mate that’s a Hawks fan and i might send him this comment next time he’s in distress 🤣 that ECF appearance definitely fucking with his head a bit 😭
When the Cavs got Kyrie, it was considered a weak draft. I wouldn't lose hope because you guys will get a stud unless you do what the Cavs did a different time and reached for Anthony Bennett.
"since the last time Embiid & the Sixers made it." - When was that exactly? They never made it. The last time the sixers did was in 2001, without embiid.
It's just proof of him being fraud. It's not mind boggling at all. Dude lives at the FT and can't play at a high level for 40+ minutes consistently. The moment the refs don't give him 15 FT a game, he becomes a normal player and falls off hard in the 4th. Also can't stay healthy. Not surprising at all.
I mean how was this ever a convo.
Regular season Embiid slightly better. Playoffs Luka several tiers better.
The one thing 6ers fans said was injuries. Luka out here on one leg knocking out West contenders that would walk through most of the teams Embiid loses to.
Who in the world would dispute this? I'm not saying either of them are even top 30 all-time yet, but so far Luka has a lot more credibility than Embiid
and this is just another reason I’ll never, ever understand how he fell to 3 in the draft (and we traded him). He was a kid playing against adults and still won.
I'm Greek and Panathinaikos fan. After watching Luka kill us in the Euroleague playoffs, I was praying the Knicks get #1 and draft this guy, only to get into discussions with other Knicks fans about drafting Ayton or Marvin Bagley instead.
I felt like an innocent man accused of cheating trying to convince these people for something I watched with my own eyes, Doncic was for real.
Turns out we all talked about this shit in vain, because for some reason the Knicks started winning games just before the season was over, dropped to #9 and we got Kevin Knox. That was some real Knicks fan shit.
It wasn't solely an argument. The media narrative actually washed over everyone's perception of him. Nobody took an active interest after Stephen A went on air and bet his bottom Dollar on DeAndre Ayton.
It's more fun to notice that Jokic was **41st in his draft class**
Think about it. 40 players were picked before Jokic.
There aren't 40 players better in the current league than him.
There aren't 40 players *all time* better than him.
To be fair Jokic came into the league VERY raw. He wasn’t a name to be talked about till like his 3rd or 4th season. Luka came into the league an All-NBA caliber player.
Jokić was a nobody raw as fuck at the time of the draft. Luka was a winner and final MVP of the 2nd strongest basketball league and also a winner and MVP of the (arguably) 3rd ranked basketball league in the world. IMO Jokić going undrafted would be less egregious than Dončič falling to 3rd and then traded was.
yep i kinda want nuggets too cause there wont be no lobs for us against minny and we are not a crazy 3pt shooting team but nuggets have jokic so i guess there is no easy way
Yes, that used to be our identity, but we don't live and die by the 3 anymore. In the past, when you looked at the keys to us winning, it would be making 13 3PTs or something like that. Now it's measured by our paint dominance and rebounding. In this OKC series, we won every game in which we won the rebounding battle. Against clippers, it was the paint points.
I think matchup wise Denver is better
Sure Jokic is the best player, but Denver isn’t exactly deep on elite defensive talent. There’s Gordon and then there’s KCP and Watson but Watson has barely played in the playoffs. In other words one of Luka or Kyrie will have a big mismatch
Minnesota has Gobert, and McDaniels, and NAW. Gobert will prevent Luka and Kyrie from getting to the rim easily, while mcdaniels and NAW will make things as difficult for Luka and Kyrie as possible.
The other thing is lively vs Jokic or Djj/Washington vs Ant.
Give me Denver. Beating Wolves may be easier comparatively (both will be hard) but Luka v Joker is just too tasty to pass up. Plus if Dallas does win, it makes it so much sweeter.
crazy how good luka has been since setting foot in this league, yet dude will probably never win an mvp thats not a finals mvp lmfao. This year especially he's locked in on D and is playing really well through an injury too.
Nah, I think there'll be some voter fatigue with Jokic next year, and a full year of this Mavs team will yield a top 3 or 4 seed for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he won his first next year
if either Luka or Ant wins a chip, it’s theirs to lose next year IMO. It shouldn’t matter, but previous season playoff performance totally colors the MVP race.
Absolutely! This year he’s the real stat stuffer (whatever that means Shaq)
Seed shouldn’t be enough a reason to ignore a guy nearing a triple double while leading the league in scoring. One of the most incredible seasons I’ve witnessed in 35 years.
I don’t think that’s true. His skill level and talent are just undeniable. I’m not a Mavericks fan in the slightest, and I think he deserved to win the MVP this year. Not that that matters, but imo he will probably win multiple MVPs during his career.
Jaylen Brown is about to reach his 6th ECF in 8 seasons.
But ofc JB has had much better teams around him his whole career.
Luka is just goddamn unbelievably talented.
Don't forget to mention that the 7th seed got swept in that WCF. Just making the WCF is a lot easier than winning it evidently (though still quite difficult), which the same isn't as true in the East. This isn't to throw shade on Lebron, but his streak of Finals appearances wouldn't have happened in the West.
The year we (celtics) lost to the warriors in the finals, i felt like the warriors had a cake walk compared to the stalingrad-esque warfare we had in the east.
Luka dodged a bullet with the Hawks trading him.
Trae is a generational passer suffering from a dysfunctional Front Office and constant coaching turnover while Luka got Mark doing anything and everything he can to surround Luka with players around him rather than force fit Luka into some system.
It’s nice but Luka will be measured by championships not WCF appearances. Tatum just made his 5th ECF in 7 seasons and no one cares. Regardless of whether it’s fair or not, history will not remember this. It’s about titles.
As a Dallas native that loves the Mavs, but moved to CO and has the pleasure of supporting Denver as well, this one will play with my emotions so much.
Dwight Powell* reaches 2 WCFs in 3 years
"Luka Doncic used to say this to me all the time"
"Dwight, bring me some hookah"
boogah
When a guy’s bangin ya
Dwight bring me some water
“dwight play mercy on this game”
Dwight gonna have to postpone his vacation to Galveston
What will we do when the TNT crew is dismantled? Maybe they’ll start their own podcast and say screw the TV networks. I’ll tune in any day of the week. Imagine an uncensored TNT halftime show. Lol. Fights will break out for sure.
That’s longest tenured mavs player Dwight Powell thank u very much
Coach Kidd reaches 2 WCFs in 3 years
And undefeated in close out games
Luka's jockstrap holder too goated.
Bro you say sorry if Powell gets Playoffs minutes and contributes to us to get the title :D
Dread it, run from it, Dwight Powell remains all the same! But for real tho man we gotta put up respect for the man he put up for the mavs for years he do deserve some respect on his name lol
gonna go look at the Luka-Hawks-Hat picture for an hour and drink a bottle of drain cleaner.
But can he do it against tip NCAA teams?
I'm still waiting for Luka to play Duke, just not sold.
We all know that if Luka played college basketball he wouldn’t have played against Duke… he would have played for Duke
He’s never done it on a COLD RAINY NIGHT IN STOKE!!!
He did, but it wasn't Tuesday.
He'd play for Stoke, he's a regen Rory Delap
Peter Crouch with girth
Love when r/soccer leaks in
On a cold rainy night in Stoke
Reaching the conference finals twice as the 5th seed is pretty good.
Akshually they were the 4th seed the first time around 🤓
Luka “Jimmy ‘Regular Season Don’t Matter’ Butler” Doncic
Ik you're joking but if the Mavs legit didn't go on that tear the last weeks of regular season, theyd be in the play-in rodeo
16-2 to end the year baby. The regular season definitely matters, but I think we’re seeing that nobody in the nba wants to be in a 7 game series against Luka and Kyrie.
Now imagine if Luka was just playing his regular season average too
Luka Doncic loves beating 1 seeds who have the COTY in the 2nd round of the playoffs.
Also eliminating guys who ranked ahead of him in MVP voting
Jokic in trouble if they win game 7
He should probably lose game 7 to avoid the trouble.
It's OK man. Just don't let kyrie get 3.
I'm ok with this.
Go Nuggets!
Something something nickels, Something something weird it happened twice
In the western conference as well. Which is a feat itself
Lol I think Luka thrives more without HCA lmao dude loves having big games on the road
Not that painful
Ranks higher all time than Embiid
Atlanta Hawks made it to the ECF (swept by LeBron), tore it down/tanked, and made it back to the ECF (lost to Bucks in 6) since the last time the Sixers made it. Always blows my mind.

When the Cavs got Kyrie, it was considered a weak draft. I wouldn't lose hope because you guys will get a stud unless you do what the Cavs did a different time and reached for Anthony Bennett.
Actually, you just gave me the idea for what the Pels need to do with Ingram. Either Murray or Trae, that works out for both teams.
Y'all wouldn't say all that dumb "villain" shit if you didn't think he looks like waluigi
Making that ECF was unironically the worst thing that could have happened to them. Front office misevaluated that run and those players got complacent
100%. Replied in another comment about it but yeah it messed up every thing our old GM was trying to build and led to some poor decisions.
"since the last time Embiid & the Sixers made it." - When was that exactly? They never made it. The last time the sixers did was in 2001, without embiid.
That’s what I meant, idk why I put Embiid lol. I’ll edit.
The fact that Embiid has never made it out of the second round of the playoffs is mind boggling.
In the eastern conference no less
you can say that again
In the eastern conference no less
You can say that again
In the eastern conference no less
You can say that again

You can say that again
That makes him even more of a bum
bro. this really put this shit into perspective lmfao holy fuck… the east has been a joke what the hell 😭
The best team he beaten is like westbrook wizard and siakam raptor with rookie scot barnes
He's got a losing personality. Shrinks in big moments, no self-accountability, it's always blame blame blame someone else.
cried so hard to steal that mvp from jok too, cared more about winning an MVP than a title... big looser
I'm here for every ounce of slander.
Shoot it in my veins!
It's what happens when you destroy your body every year flopping
It’s all about mindset and if someone cries themselves to an MVP award it tells me they don’t have the right mindset.
It's just proof of him being fraud. It's not mind boggling at all. Dude lives at the FT and can't play at a high level for 40+ minutes consistently. I’ll always upvote embiid stray
United by "Hate for Embiid"
The hate transcends our trivial existence
I mean how was this ever a convo. Regular season Embiid slightly better. Playoffs Luka several tiers better. The one thing 6ers fans said was injuries. Luka out here on one leg knocking out West contenders that would walk through most of the teams Embiid loses to.
Someone nicknamed him "peg leg Luka" in the Clippers series, and I laugh every time I think of that
That edit of peg leg Luka is the best
[удалено]
No it should be floppin-like-a-fish Lu Dort
Send pic pls
u/Sim888 the memegod posted it in a post game thread I think
The fact that this sub still doesn't allow pics and gifs is criminal
*shimmy*
>Regular season **whistle** Embiid slightly better. Fixed it for ya.
That's a very low bar tbf
Participation trophy energy.
Did it in the West tbf lol
I'm only hating Embiid here
Okay, you're back in our grace.
Oh alright we ~~blood~~ hate brothers again
I’m a simple person, I see Embiid slander and I upvote.
The moment he broke that Suns team, he was already better than embiid
Basketball discourse is at an all time low. You guys are obsessed with all-time ranking and the sport is worse for it.
Who in the world would dispute this? I'm not saying either of them are even top 30 all-time yet, but so far Luka has a lot more credibility than Embiid
This Luka guy might be pretty good
But can he do this in the NCAA?
Still on sight with Vlade all these years later
Should have been fired on the spot for that!!!
Not sure, he can’t double jump
See you guys and Joker in the WCF (hopefully this doesn’t age poorly) Edit: this aged poorly
I'm happy that you guys win. I'm just feel relieved I won't have to see our players on the same court as Dort if we win the game tomorrow.
Dort would have broken Murray’s leg and grabbed Jokic’s junk. I’m glad you guys don’t have to deal with that
Lmao no shit. OKC has a good team but Dort is walking hazard
Haven’t heard the name Mudiay in a while…
Does not contribute to winning.
His teammates are “relieved” when he goes to the bench. (Where is that author who wrote that article after Game 1 right now?)
The author is relieving himself everywhere right now.
Should be relieved of his job.
Heliocentric
Too much gravity. GMm/r^2
Too fat. Should be measured as (4/3)πr^3
Nah Kyrie doesn't believe in round things.
No defense
Selfish ball hog who needs to get more teammates involved
Complains too much.
fat
white
Overwatch player
That one's valid
Yeah, he should play CS like a real eastern European
Wonder who got exposed as that this series lol
He fat
Lever
Such a stupid attempt at criticism, he had a pro league title BEFORE coming to the NBA
and this is just another reason I’ll never, ever understand how he fell to 3 in the draft (and we traded him). He was a kid playing against adults and still won.
Well, we never saw him go against ACC talent.
It was one of the most baffling arguments I’ve ever seen.
It wasn't solely an argument. The media narrative actually washed over everyone's perception of him. Nobody took an active interest after Stephen A went on air and bet his bottom Dollar on DeAndre Ayton.
It's more fun to notice that Jokic was **41st in his draft class** Think about it. 40 players were picked before Jokic. There aren't 40 players better in the current league than him. There aren't 40 players *all time* better than him.

That's fair.

IMO Jokić going undrafted would be less egregious than Dončič falling to 3rd and then traded was.
7/11 employee
Honestly y'all mavs need to keep more receipts, I saw so much of that bullshit being posted this year it was maddening lol
Hopefully this time we can reach the finals
Who would you rather face in the WCF? Wolves or Nuggets?
Wolves, I never wanna play Jokic lol
Is it bad I’d rather play Denver?
Denver is a way better matchup for us. Gobert and KAT would neutralize Lively and Gafford and the Wolves have the defenders to make Kyrie struggle.
yep i kinda want nuggets too cause there wont be no lobs for us against minny and we are not a crazy 3pt shooting team but nuggets have jokic so i guess there is no easy way
I think you guys are a pretty crazy 3pt shooting team all things considered
Yes, that used to be our identity, but we don't live and die by the 3 anymore. In the past, when you looked at the keys to us winning, it would be making 13 3PTs or something like that. Now it's measured by our paint dominance and rebounding. In this OKC series, we won every game in which we won the rebounding battle. Against clippers, it was the paint points.
Yup, preference is Denver based on matchup even though Jokic is absurd
Same. I think Luka will be on fire in a WCF series against his best buddy Nikola.
I think matchup wise Denver is better Sure Jokic is the best player, but Denver isn’t exactly deep on elite defensive talent. There’s Gordon and then there’s KCP and Watson but Watson has barely played in the playoffs. In other words one of Luka or Kyrie will have a big mismatch Minnesota has Gobert, and McDaniels, and NAW. Gobert will prevent Luka and Kyrie from getting to the rim easily, while mcdaniels and NAW will make things as difficult for Luka and Kyrie as possible. The other thing is lively vs Jokic or Djj/Washington vs Ant.
He’ll have Lively and Gafford in foul trouble every night.
Give me Denver. Beating Wolves may be easier comparatively (both will be hard) but Luka v Joker is just too tasty to pass up. Plus if Dallas does win, it makes it so much sweeter.
For me, it's the Nuggets. Wolves seem like a nightmare matchup.
At this point it comes down to this: To be the best you gotta beat the best..
I don’t like playing this game, but gun to my head minny
Wolves! Jokic is a monster
I need to watch more Euroleague/euro basketball if it keeps producing the likes of Jokic, Luka, Giannis, Wemby, etc.
O username desse arrombado kkkkkkkkkkkk
Tive que subir pra ver kkkkkkkkkkkkkkk
His defense impressed me this series
crazy how good luka has been since setting foot in this league, yet dude will probably never win an mvp thats not a finals mvp lmfao. This year especially he's locked in on D and is playing really well through an injury too.
Nah, I think there'll be some voter fatigue with Jokic next year, and a full year of this Mavs team will yield a top 3 or 4 seed for sure. I wouldn't be surprised if he won his first next year
I think it’ll be the Shai v Ant mvp race next season
if either Luka or Ant wins a chip, it’s theirs to lose next year IMO. It shouldn’t matter, but previous season playoff performance totally colors the MVP race.
Haha...poor Tatum fans I have no sympathy for him. But I must admit the Celtics folks are like kinda right with theor wow our #1 gets no MVP love.
I just don't think Tatum is quite at the same level as the rest of these guys
If he wins a Finals MVP, he'll get a lot more consideration for regular season MVP(s) with voters realizing his numbers aren't empty
His numbers were never empty though. He plays winning basketball and the voters are stupid.
Absolutely! This year he’s the real stat stuffer (whatever that means Shaq) Seed shouldn’t be enough a reason to ignore a guy nearing a triple double while leading the league in scoring.
He doesn't play winning basketball though.
Finals here we come (hopefully) 🤞
You rooting for the Mavs… or for some other reason?
Maybe he’s a Dwight Powell fan from Canada.
We?
Jaylen Brown is about to reach his 6th ECF in 8 seasons. But ofc JB has had much better teams around him his whole career. Luka is just goddamn unbelievably talented.
Dude a 8th seed won the east last year lol the east Is inferior to the west
That’s true West has been superior to the East since Jordan retired but a 7th seed made the WCF last year also.
The same team that was the first seed the year before? Heat were a fake 8 seed last year and you know it.
Must make Embiid's lack of success even more embarrassing
According to R/nba this isn’t impressive at all. Even though no one else did it besides Lebron.
Luka dodged a bullet with the Hawks trading him. Trae is a generational passer suffering from a dysfunctional Front Office and constant coaching turnover while Luka got Mark doing anything and everything he can to surround Luka with players around him rather than force fit Luka into some system.
“Luka fails to reach the Finals twice in 3 years”. There, I fixed the title.
Technically, 3 times in 3 years
Since being born he has failed to reach the finals in 25 consecutive years
It’s nice but Luka will be measured by championships not WCF appearances.
Reminder that Luka is younger than SGA, and Lively is younger than Chet.
Oh so now conference finals appearances matter lmao
They do in the West
As a blazers fan, thanks.
Hope he makes the finals
1st through 8th was literally separated by 8 games though, seeding doesn't matter in the West anymore. Still a hell of an accomplishment.
