I forgot about that game but the moment I heard Mike Breen’s call and the alley-oop it came flooding back. The banners where they blocked off large amounts of seats before the benches and the fans in masks. God what a wild Finals
The dumbest play I've ever seen that ended up working out lmao. That was a tough lob and it ended up being a contested jam that he was fouled on but made.
Also Giannis is a poor FT shooter so if he missed it after the foul you're basically giving the Suns a good chance to take a potential game winner with 14 seconds on the clock lol (though Giannis randomly gets a +30 FT% boost in big games).
jrue said in interviews that he was gonna hold it but giannis was flying down the court screaming for the ball so he just threw it as high as he could
no oop is stupid on the bucks giannis can catch literally anything
Dude has been fucking awesome since Cavs game 5. Not saying he sucked before that but he’s elevated to a new level the past 4 games. I don’t think I ever saw him do this offensively with the Bucks. I expect it to slow down for the finals but getting boosts like this from everyone is great, especially since White hasn’t been shooting great this series.
i don't hate letting them play if you think you can get a good transition shot, but as soon as nembhard can't get past jrue call a fucking TO, guy already made one game losing fuckup don't let him do it again
It was like 1 vs 4 there, so dumb to not call a timeout. This has been Rick’s MO in situations like this all year and took Ls in all of them, so frustrating
If coach can't draw inbound plays for last seconds of in the playoffs then what's the point of keeping him.
You are not winning any close games like this and it's all on coaching.
Everyone is now seeing the series why Carlisle is and has been an overrated coach. He blew game one, and he basically left his guy to go one on four because everyone was back in transition, so it made no sense to not call a time out in the situation; Nembhard would’ve had to make an incredible shot, but even if he misses, you have no chance for an offensive rebound in the game is pretty much over. Carlisle should’ve seen that and called the time out immediately.
I legit focus on Jrue whenever I watch Celtics, since I play ball I want to be a player like him lol, he is the second most impactful player on every team he plays for. No drama too
Oh we for sure did. It sucks but that just some crazy juju by Celtics FO, gotta give it to em. Honestly happy that he got this instead of Purgatory in Portland
Stealing a guy like Jrue from a rival is 100% a Red Auerbach move. It feels like they cheated, but if the other guy wants to make dumb roster choices, you let them.
Move made sense for the Bucks too. Jrue is at his best in Boston because he is not relied upon for offense every night like he was here. Dame is undoubtedly a better fit for the roster, and it led to Giannis signing an extension, just unfortunate that Boston also capitalized on it.
He's in the perfect role for him. Unfortunately we just were forced to put him in a position he shouldn't have been put in. We needed him to be someone he wasn't. He just fits better there.
He's been our third option since midway through the Cavs which is the role that he struggled in in Milwaukee and he's been really fucking good offensively.
I think the big difference is the fact that with any of our bigs except Kornet and Tillman (neither of which would see the floor if KP was healthy) we can play 5-out and give him plenty of space to get to his comfortable spots. Where simply by the nature of you guys having Giannis it's tougher for Jrue to get where he likes to go.
Trading Jrue for Dame is some 2k shit that really shouldn't be surpring at all that it didn't work.
The real absurdity is the Celtics getting Jrue/White/and KP for trading a bunch of mediocre role players
The team needs to send him one if we win this year. He was here before any of this was possible and our success is built on the back of his effort and dedication
Was genuinely disgusted when all 3 of those trades happen. Holy shit people joke about teams giving Lebron/Lakers pieces for nothing, but the shit Brad Stevens has been able to get away with is criminal. None of these were even "hindsight is 20/20" kinda trades. They were absurd the moment they happened (getting an additional 1st in the Tingus trade was genuinely insulting)
I’m glad Derrick is shining on a contending team, he absolutely deserves it, but god damn do i wish we still had him, he’s always been a great defender, but his offense has gotten crazy good too
Im rooting for them specifically cuz of him
That’s was the bucks first season with giannis and dame. They’ll be(should be) better next year
But also the rest of their core is aging. They aren’t gonna be able to afford beasley this upcoming season. The bucks have to make some changes in the near future.
All time spicy Finals in terms of storylines
Luka vs Tatum
Kyrie vs the Celtics crowd
KP vs the Mavs
Although… call me crazy but I still think Minnesota has a chance to come back.
I'm terrified of "Kyrie proves the Celtics wrong after he totally knifed them!" but KP's lingering revenge might be the equalizer. We'll see, assuming we even face Dallas. And I'm not saying shit until we finish off Indiana
Absolutely. Jrue makes it worth rooting for the Celtics hands down for me. Insane Bostonites be damned but I just love Jrue, one of the best dudes in the NBA.
glad we get to share in the Jrue love fam. I remember he won y’all a playoff game against us exactly like this so it’s nice to know how that feels on the other side now haha
It’s the coaches fault when players make boneheaded turnovers and miss open shots.
Carlisle definitely has fucked up in this series, but equal blame to coach and players.
I would even get it if some of the other guys got back. Try to take on a defense in transition rather than a set defense but 1v4 with Jrue on the ball? Eh.
Rick's a damn idiot, but why the hell was the guy with the ball the only one hustling up the court? The other 3 guys were just fucking jogging like they didn't realize the play was still going.
I wanted to Pacers to win but that was a clean strip.
Nembhard stepped on Jrue's shoe after the strip so he could not recover or dive for the ball but that was just bad luck.
Pacers choke job fosure. Rick should have called a timeout 100%. It's not like you have Kobe or Luka on your team to let them end the game. Get a fuckin GOOD PLAY IN instead of letting them figure it out.
The enemy of my enemy is my friend - the sports hate from NYK is cracking me up. W/o the Brunson broken hand, we would have hated playing you guys. The Pacers do have a lot of guys who can pop off though.
When did you guys start having the Pacers though? Celts fan base no where near the level of contempt for them.
I only saw about 80% of this game, but I saw all 12 of Nembhard’s males and none of his 9 misses. In my mind, if the dude got a shot off, it was going in. So glad Jrue didn’t let it get to that point
Idc who wins but God damn I was yelling at Carlisle to take a timeout harder than I've yelled at a game in a long time. Just the most absolutely braindead move to not draw up a play when the alternative is Nembhard 1v4
Rick Carlisle is what all Boston sports media listeners think Mazzulla is. Why would you not call a time out the moment Nembhard gets stonewalled once?
Im not sure where the fuck he was trying to go in the first place lol. There was a sea of celtics in the paint. Hey Carlisle how about call a timeout and draw up a fucking play.
Credit to Jrue. That was a heads up, solid play by him. I get Rick's desire to push it up before the Celtics had a chance to set up their defense. We had a better chance at scoring that way, but Jrue took that away with good footwork.
Thing is, the Pacers are struggling with the same thing they've struggled with all year. Consistency. We were up by 18? at one point. It's not that we are losing close games, it's that *these are close games in the first place*. When you are up that much, you shouldn't be giving those leads up like we do, not on a regular basis.
I chalk it up to inexperience and lack of poise, both that come with age. They've never been in these situations so the future is bright. The league needs to be on notice because defense is learned and developed over time. And that's all the Pacers have is time. Super young team and the future is bright.
I was so confused I thought the scoreboard is just bugged They actually got a timeout. It's the final possession in a one point game. Where the heck is Carlisle saving his timeouts for?
**Replays/alternate angles** *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please [contact the moderators of this subreddit](/message/compose/?to=/r/nba) if you have any questions or concerns.*
Jrue took Booker's candy in one of the most iconic Finals plays. He does this always
Same call lmao. "Knocked away and stolen by Holiday!"
Suns fans look away
Celtics Mavs finals is suns fans 9/11
I'm rooting for some sort of new pandemic to force the season to be cancelled.
That would probably benefit the Celtics since Kyrie is on the Mavs...
Vogelitis or Bealvid
I was rooting for this guy all game because he was rocking the Book 1’s lol I should have seen this coming
Phoenix has to foul
AND ANTETOKOUNMPO THROWS IT DOWN!!!
And a foul! Giannis on the alley oop!
DJrue
I forgot about that game but the moment I heard Mike Breen’s call and the alley-oop it came flooding back. The banners where they blocked off large amounts of seats before the benches and the fans in masks. God what a wild Finals
That Greek media guy who voted Jrue Holiday for DPOY may've been right all along.
Then had the fuckin balls to throw a lob to Giannis up 1
The dumbest play I've ever seen that ended up working out lmao.
Objectively horrible play. And absolute objectively massive balls
jrue said in interviews that he was gonna hold it but giannis was flying down the court screaming for the ball so he just threw it as high as he could no oop is stupid on the bucks giannis can catch literally anything
It’s only stupid if it doesn’t work
Marcus Smart too.
He did Marcus dirty twice in that game :/
I thought for sure the Bucks were coming out of the east after that lol. That series was insane.
So did most Celtics fans, our subreddit looked like Berlin after VE Day after that game
That's the game that activated Elimination Game Jayson Tatum
Grant Williams also hit 7 threes lmao
There was a game in between those
That series killed and revived me three different times.
I did too :(
That's what i was thinking during this play. So glad Jrue Holiday can't do this to my team anymore!
[удалено]
Dude has been fucking awesome since Cavs game 5. Not saying he sucked before that but he’s elevated to a new level the past 4 games. I don’t think I ever saw him do this offensively with the Bucks. The Flue Holiday game
jrue is legit book's kryptonite. he shuts him down quite often
Jrue Holiday is Devin Booker father
Jrue Holiday is the only guy that raises the Bucks and Celtics' BBIQ
Why the hell would you not draw up a play on this
i don't hate letting them play if you think you can get a good transition shot, but as soon as nembhard can't get past jrue call a fucking TO, guy already made one game losing fuckup don't let him do it again
Yeah Celtics immediately got back. I don’t get why you wouldn’t immediately call TO when seeing this
It was like 1 vs 4 there, so dumb to not call a timeout. This has been Rick’s MO in situations like this all year and took Ls in all of them, so frustrating
It was a 2 v 4, no? *jersey number joke *
Bro is ready to get his vacation started for sure
And one on four lmao, Rick what are u doing
Just awful coaching from Carlisle down the stretch in these playoffs.
If coach can't draw inbound plays for last seconds of in the playoffs then what's the point of keeping him. You are not winning any close games like this and it's all on coaching.
When trusting your guys goes wrong
Oh damn. They had a timeout?
Yeah they had a TO, they took it after the free throws. Pretty good play on that one actually, should have used it here.
Reminder, this sub thought the Mavericks made a massive mistake firing Carlisle to hire Kidd.
Is there a way to make him an offensive coordinator? Dude is a mastermind on the offensive end.
Pretty sure that’s illegal in Charlotte
I thought Rick Carlisle was an elite coach and Mavs could not just get him better players. Hmm....
I’ve lost track how many times this guy has clinched a game with a steal
I legit focus on Jrue whenever I watch Celtics, since I play ball I want to be a player like him lol, he is the second most impactful player on every team he plays for. No drama too
No drama severely underrated asset. My favorite kind of player.. let the plays do the talking
what’s up Bronny
"Knocked away and stolen by Holiday" is a death knoll for your team in the playoffs at this point
FLU GAME JRUEEEEE
Jrue has that dawg in him
He would've collected the Tommy Award every game.
"Flu Holiday,"
Per the C’s broadcast: The Non-Covid Illness Game
~~Havlicek~~ Holiday Stole the Ball
Milwaukee actually doomed us all
Kinda funny that Milwaukee might’ve inadvertently helped Boston win a title
Oh we for sure did. It sucks but that just some crazy juju by Celtics FO, gotta give it to em. Honestly happy that he got this instead of Purgatory in Portland
Stealing a guy like Jrue from a rival is 100% a Red Auerbach move. It feels like they cheated, but if the other guy wants to make dumb roster choices, you let them.

Where simply by the nature of you guys having Giannis it's tougher for Jrue to get where he likes to go.
I can see this- I’m most impressed with his slow methodical, like, pseudo-post drives. Could see how those could get nerfed with a clogged paint
he struggled as the second option which was why we lost in 22 he looked a lot better when khris was there to be the #2 guy
Everyone looks better next to Khash...
Tbf it would be hard to argue against the trade looking at his performance last playoffs. The guy was streaky at best.
Brad Stevens had a goofy smile at Jrue's first media day. He was grinning uncharacteristically, and this is why.
Jrue is to Brad what Lawrence Taylor is to Bill Belichick
Trading Jrue for Dame is some 2k shit that really shouldn't be surpring at all that it didn't work. The real absurdity is the Celtics getting Jrue/White/and KP for trading a bunch of mediocre role players
We got Porzingis AND two firsts for Marcus Smart, Mike Muscala, and the ghost of Danilo Gallinari. Unbelievable.
I feel a little bad for Smart. Boy bled green.
Me too, but as much as I hate to say it, the overall team is better off with him gone
I agree, but I do wanna bring him back near the end of his career for one final ride, even as a bench piece
Yeah, the day he was traded I thought “he’ll be back at some point” but it sucks he might miss getting a ring here
Yeah i still wish there was a way to get him Back on a bench role. Guy needs to win a ring here
The team needs to send him one if we win this year. He was here before any of this was possible and our success is built on the back of his effort and dedication
Wtf lol. The dude is a great Celtic, but give him a ring for a chip he didn't win? I bet he'd say hell no to that one.
We all Celtics do, but you need rain to see the rainbow
Reminder that the Celtics got Jrue Holiday, Derrick White, and Kristaps Porzingis (along with a 2023 1st) for: * Robert Williams * Marcus Smart * Josh Richardson * Romeo Langford * Daniel Theis * Aaron Nesmith * Danilo Gallinari * 2022 Celtics 1st (25th pick) * 2023 Celtics 1st (29th pick) * 2028 Pick Swap with SAS * 2029 Celtics 1st
Malcolm Brogdon was the sixth man of the year just last year
crazy that out of that list, nesmith is the one to get to conference finals playing big minutes
I appreciate getting nesmith out of these deals but damn those other teams are stupid lol.
dude I swear Brad stevens does hypnosis or something on these teams to get the trades he does
Was genuinely disgusted when all 3 of those trades happen.
Brad Stevens' "aww shucks" nice guy persona be lulling other teams to sleep
Can't forget Celtics legend TPE
I’m glad Derrick is shining on a contending team, he absolutely deserves it, but god damn do i wish we still had him, he’s always been a great defender, but his offense has gotten crazy good too Im rooting for them specifically cuz of him
Healthy Smart is way better than a mediocre role player
Dame/Giannis were the most hyped moved of the offseason, they were supposed to be who the C’s are. Pretty funny how quickly it turned sour.
That’s was the bucks first season with giannis and dame. They’ll be(should be) better next year But also the rest of their core is aging. They aren’t gonna be able to afford beasley this upcoming season. The bucks have to make some changes in the near future.
Eh, next year exists. Dame/Giannis still have time to develop the menacing duo thing
And we got a 1st swap I think, we lost brogdon/smart/time lord and a few end of bench guys for 3 starters on any other team
Jrue is this subs Osama Bin Laden
Where’s the terry rozier tweet
Tall as hell
fuck lmao, is that really what he said??
[Full quote:](https://x.com/T_Rozzay3/status/64889433505284096?lang=en) >Osama shouldve hooped instead of tryna kill ppl cause he tall as hell!
Suns fans look away
That was three major traumas ago I barely even feel it.
Call a motherfucking timeout for once in your thick stupid life you absolute donkey
Nembhard (no disrespect to him) against literally the best defensive guard in the league... Yeah idk
Jrue picked a helluva time to remember that lol. I get that he's sick but he was sliding around there for a bit
Trying to get into Jrue Holiday is absolutely a thing Nebhard tried.
i thought darvin ham was bad
He was
Don’t worry, ham is still worse, by far lol
Defense wins games!!
Ain’t that the Jrueth!
[удалено]
And to y’all in game 5 in 2022, twice lol
Lmfao Rick didn’t learn his lesson I guess
He should have benched his starters the last few minutes to give them some rest.
i guess he really is a Dirk Nowitzki Merchant
He is so good at those types of steals that’s arguably how most of his on ball steals happen.
Thanks Milwaukee
Pain
I don't like saying this, it doesn't feel good, but if it's Celtics/Mavericks please win him another championship
All time spicy Finals in terms of storylines Luka vs Tatum Kyrie vs the Celtics crowd KP vs the Mavs Although… call me crazy but I still think Minnesota has a chance to come back.
Just endless "Kyrie sucks" chants ringing through the city. Even the fucking MFA you'll have people whispering it between exhibits.
Absolutely, everyone writing them off are morons. It’s in no way wrapped up, if the Mavs win the next one however…
Anyone writing minny off might have severe brain damage. We won the first two but it came down to the wire
Add in some of the worst performances from their top players, they are bound to bounce back eventually. They made it this far for a reason.
I'm terrified of "Kyrie proves the Celtics wrong after he totally knifed them!" but KP's lingering revenge might be the equalizer. We'll see, assuming we even face Dallas. And I'm not saying shit until we finish off Indiana

Bruh we LOVE Jrue. Do I dislike the Celtics? Yes. But I love Jrue more, so go win it all champ
Clutchest defensive player I ever seen
2021 Finals PTSD
Obligatory [Knocked Away and Stolen by Holiday](https://youtu.be/FcBTDY3yYis?si=_L5QoP6e8iBm9AAV) That was the sequel today
Rick Carlisle has blown two games in this series.
He also sat his bench with 9 minutes to go in game 2... when it wasn't a blow out at all.
This could've been 2-1 with a competent coach. At the very least 1-2.
Honestly, I love how the Pacers play. It's so fucking awesome. Just not quite the right configuration
It’s the coaches fault when players make boneheaded turnovers and miss open shots. Carlisle definitely has fucked up in this series, but equal blame to coach and players.
It’s wild to think that Celtics won the Dame trade.
Hopefully that gsw pick turns out to be a really good player for you guys
Thank you. Enjoy former Trail Blazers legend Jrue Holiday. 🙏
My favorite part was all the trails he blazed in his time there.
Celtics went from Danny Ainge cookin fools to Brad Stevens cookin fools. Ridiculous.
Rick saving his timeouts for game 8
it rolls over to next season
This game was so predictable lol
literally yesterday game but in yellow, complete with some ref drama and missed three in the end
What’s the ref drama?
Look away all my Phoenix Suns flairs
I often defend coaches not calling time-outs in that situation, but with such a young team, Carlisle absolutely needed to call a time out there.
I get it if you can get out in transition but it was 1 vs 4 in the celtics favor
I would even get it if some of the other guys got back. Try to take on a defense in transition rather than a set defense but 1v4 with Jrue on the ball? Eh.
Bruh. Where have we seen this man do it before.
Ooooh! I know!
I miss this man so much😭
If I’m ever on the wrong end of a firing squad give the guns to this pacers team. They’d fumble all the bullets before they made it into the rifle
They would kill the first 9 guys then accidentally put the 10th bullet in their own head.
clean as hell shut up Rick
The only person Rick can blame is his own dumb ass for not calling a timeout
Rick's a damn idiot, but why the hell was the guy with the ball the only one hustling up the court? The other 3 guys were just fucking jogging like they didn't realize the play was still going.
I wanted to Pacers to win but that was a clean strip. Nembhard stepped on Jrue's shoe after the strip so he could not recover or dive for the ball but that was just bad luck. Pacers choke job fosure. Bro complains after everything 😒
Yeah for real. Like dude, we have heard this story. Take responsibility.
I swear Knicks fans were giving him credit after game 1 for not complaining after dealing with Nick Nurse in the first round.
Second time this series. CALL A TIMEOUT
Rick Carlisle fired
As amazing as that was, thats probably not even a top five Jrue Holiday playoff steal
nemb is going 1v4 on a fastbreak, the Cs defence is back and set, why does Carlisle not take a timeout and instead urges him on?????
I only saw about 80% of this game, but I saw all 12 of Nembhard’s males and none of his 9 misses. In my mind, if the dude got a shot off, it was going in. So glad Jrue didn’t let it get to that point
He always does this lmao
2024 Olympian Jrue Holiday!
Why on fucking earth do you not call a timeout. Worthless sack of shit coach.
Beat him to the spot, took his lunch money, secured a W
LETS FUCKING GO I LOVE YOU JRUE
Why not call a timeout?
Rick man what are you doing? call the time out. So bad....
Suns fans getting flashbacks

That's an easy pass to an open three, too. He was playing like there was a second left, not three or four.
Pacer's coach is sooo stupid, should have called a TO. That's 2 games they lost, could have 2-1 rn.
Took his fucking lunch money. Jrue has been huge this series.
Rick Carlisle has made some all time dumb decisions in this series. Thank you though.
Credit to Jrue. That was a heads up, solid play by him. I get Rick's desire to push it up before the Celtics had a chance to set up their defense. insane strip
Thank you Bucks!!
The Pacers do this to themselves. Sigh
we keep choking
I was so confused I thought the scoreboard is just bugged They actually got a timeout. It's the final possession in a one point game. Where the heck is Carlisle saving his timeouts for?
holy shit this is exactly what he did to us back in 2022, to marcus smart
Another all time blunder by the GOAT of being an absolute shit coach in the clutch, Rick Carlisle. Call a timeout in the clutch for once in your life.
