I’ve been to olympic tune ups and all-star games. All-Star games were much more entertaining. When you are blowing out China by 40 in the second quarter, there is no energy and the crowd goes numb.
No way. Olympics are far more entertaining to watch. France beat US in group play last time around and there were some other close ones in there.
I guess you did specifically say “Olympic tune ups.” The tune ups are typically 2-3 cupcakes and 1-2 good teams so yeah if you get a completely overmatched opponent the tune ups are pretty meh
Not only that, but the Sixers traded up to 1 to pick a guy who immediately got the yips over Tatum. I like Fultz and feel for him and the Sixers for that, but that hurts.
Nah Celtics knew the 76ers was obsessed with Fultz and that Lakers loved Ball so they traded with 76ers and still got the guy they wanted. Tatum was always the one the Cs were gonna draft
100% I remember people clowning on us for wanting to pick Tatum over Josh Jackson (who then got picked #4), as everyone considered him the better SF in the draft, but we had Tatum locked in.
You can give them flack for passing on Tatum, but the Celtics were mostly ridiculed for picking Brown that high when he was a mid-low lottery projection.
Dirk had to run to the changing room for a few minutes to collect himself. It's not something most of us can relate to in any meaningful way. What they give of themselves, what it takes to get to the top of that mountain... it's beyond what mortals are doing on the daily
Closest I think I have experienced is finishing a marathon and meeting my goal time....
All the training, sacrifices, pain, hours spent fucking running. Crossing that finish line and hugging my wife and parents I bawled my eyes out overcome with emotions I didn't know I had. I imagine it's like that but times 100.
Running a marathon is the hardest physical achievement most normal humans will do. I ran a bunch of halfs and was always like “how the fuck do they run another one of these after this?” Then I drunkenly signed up for a full one with a friend and really had to commit to trainings. I think it was when I broke 13.1 miles on a normal Saturday long run with no one around to cheer when I knew I could do it. Still it was a ridiculous effort for four months to get there, and that is what a professional athlete goes through year in and out, win or lose.
Where’s the highlight of his son hugging him and saying “Daddy” when he looks up to see him? That was so perfect it seemed scripted too lol (i don’t actually think it was scripted)
Mavs fan here. Just wanna congratulate the Celtics. They were clearly the better team and deserve this title. I’ll root for my Mavs to get better and compete next year.
As a c’s fan I honestly was happy to see kyrie work out for yall as well as he did. Might have had a slump in the finals but it was overall a better year than anyone expected. Only thing I didnt like was PJ trying to murder Porzingus. Hope you guys improve next year
Good dad, isn't oozing narcissim. A better role model than most players in the league. I think his media/fan hype, his understated personality and playoffs inconsistentcy is just the perfect combo to fuel crazy social media hate.
I just don’t like seeing boston sports succeed in general for how good they’ve been lol but luka is awful enough to watch that I couldn’t help but cheer for them this time 😂
That was my confusion about the crazy overwhelming support for the Mavs... Kyrie and Luka are obviously both pretty polarizing, Kyrie for his antics and beliefs and Luka for his behavior on the court, and the celtics players are mostly likable if a little on the boring side...
but I guess the absolute hatred for the Celtics franchise in general overrules the individual players.
He wasn't good enough fast enough for the social media age. In reality this Celtics team grew and matured at a very natural rate and is right in their prime where they should be winning a chip or two.
which is wild because he was literally in the playoffs and showing up immediately
everyone just raised their expectations to "if he don't win he don't matter"
They had normal failures that happen to every young team and were treated like it was impossible to get better and they should blow it up. It really was dumb.
Just narrative about him choking or whatever, it's funky. Tatum was fantastic. He had some shooting struggles at a few points but people acting like he wasn't insanely important out there--especially defensively--are wild.
One of the biggest reasons the Celtics were the only team Dallas wasn't able to run a lob train on was because Tatum was able to guard your bigs in a way that other teams couldn't.
His gravity and passing have been the key to the Celtics offense literally the whole season. He's been the engine of that team all year.
Now instead of saying "no championship" people will clown him for losing FMVP. So, I guess some good content for next season.
He was actually beloved a few years ago. His IG posts were constantly being posted here the way SGA's are today. I think it's just because he played like Kobe's corpse against the Warriors in the finals and lost, and then started getting tons of shit after that from r/nba.
No way, this sub has hated Tatum since his sophomore season. People have been on a mission to prove he’s overrated and just keep moving the goalposts for what they are judging him against
I really have no hate for him, he seems like a good dude. I still think he's kind of bland while all that God and Kobe stuff is at times corny or even cringe.
He's just being himself though, so I try not to hate on that.
I really don’t understand why he’s the most polarizing player in the league other than that he plays for Boston, he’s like zoomer tim duncan in terms of personality lol
I’m obligated to hate everything to do with Boston sports success. Often times I know I don’t have a leg to stand on but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do (at least when I’m talkin to my Boston buddies, gotta keep that hating 100%)

Me when I realize I gotta go 4 months without basketball
Olympic basketball for the win.
Holy how did I forget
Shit is gonna be LIT this year
It's gonna be EPIC!!!!!!n
Following team USA in olympic basketball is like a competitive all star game with the squads they send
I’ve been to olympic tune ups and all-star games. All-Star games were much more entertaining. When you are blowing out China by 40 in the second quarter, there is no energy and the crowd goes numb.

Thank god
Euros are on right now bro
Summer league and the olympics!
Olympics, WNBA, Summer League. You got options, man. Don’t worry.
r/brandnewsentence In a good way. Proud of the ladies finally getting some attention
The W has been really good for a good while now. I’m just glad others are finally seeing it.
Watch WNBA, wish the Zoominfo ceo didn't pull out otherwise I would be going to all these fun games instead of blazer games.
Watch Caitlin Clark get beat up nightly while her team does nothing
I mean I went to a game and watched her hit like 7 threes in a row from courtside seats. The value for the entertainment level is hard to beat.
I’m glad the, “it’s cool to hate the WNBA” crowd is dying down a little. Hope Philly can get a team.
The Fever have back to back wins right now.
The Fever have back to back wins right now.
WNBA is good hoops and their season just started.
we still got the summer league and the olympics to look forward too
Drink some champagne young man
So jealous of that kid bruh
Luka is less than a year younger than Tatum
Luka's 18??
Making it even more impressive that he’s both Deuce and Luka’s father
Jayson Tatum is Devin Booker’s grandfather
I hope his dad lets him
Technically illegal
I can’t believe he’s only 12 years old!
Major player in the playoffs every single year since his rookie season.
I cannot believe we got Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in back to back drafts, both at number 3 Thanks again Billy King
dont forget to thank the Sixers and Lakers for passing on them both in back to back drafts
Not only that, but the Sixers traded up to 1 to pick a guy who immediately got the yips over Tatum. I like Fultz and feel for him and the Sixers for that, but that hurts.
From what I remember, the Celtics feigned like they wanted Fultz when all along they were going to take Tatum. Could be talking out of my ass though.
that was the report after the draft
Nah Celtics knew the 76ers was obsessed with Fultz and that Lakers loved Ball so they traded with 76ers and still got the guy they wanted. Tatum was always the one the Cs were gonna draft
100% I remember people clowning on us for wanting to pick Tatum over Josh Jackson (who then got picked #4), as everyone considered him the better SF in the draft, but we had Tatum locked in.
Yeah, I think I remember Danny didn't take Fultz to Chipotle during his pre-draft visit lol (Ainge LOVES Chipotle)
I hope Danny will perform the same magic for us. The future looks bleek so far
Nah tatum was the guy all along
Celtics were getting Tatum no matter what. They wouldn’t have traded down if they know they weren’t getting Tatum
Also thank Lonzo Ball and Josh Jackson for refusing to come for a work out pre draft
You can give them flack for passing on Tatum, but the Celtics were mostly ridiculed for picking Brown that high when he was a mid-low lottery projection.
Yup a lot of teams had Brown going 8-12
Thank you, LaVar Ball for saying your son will never play in Boston
How old is he?
19 and three quarters
Turned 19 in the 2nd quarter today
18 by halftime. 16 when the game ended. At the post game presser he was just hitting puberty.
19
Boomed LeBron as a rookie; he really was so good x4
Could see him being second in many of Lebron's postseason counting stats
Only 7 years in the league and he has more playoff game wins than Barkley, Nash, Westbrook and dozens of other hall of famers
He kicked our entire ass today. Celtics were clearly the better team, and I’m now going to drink myself into oblivion
me too my friend
haven’t been able to see since 10 pm baby go Cs
See you there
Drink some liquid IV or pedialyte after. Stay safe homie. ggs.
Your team is a legit contender. There's some effort/cohesiveness issues that need to be worked out, but you're there.
Tatum in the interview channeling his inner KG
Then Curry when he said “What are they gonna say now?!”
KG said that too!
Turns out anything is still possible
Ah I was wondering what that reminded me of.
Celtics stars are 2/2 in awkward screams in post game championship interviews in my lifetime. One of the few times cringe made me smile.
What? KG’s scream was iconic
Felt way more natural than Tatum’s lmao
Because KG is a crazy mf
Yeah Tatum's felt really forced, KG is just like that.
I remember thinking it was cringe at the time, but then it became iconic
Sounds way better in a hype video/clip then the full interview
It was viewed really negatively at the time. Wasn’t it a fucking plug for a company of some kind lol?
He was supposed to say, “impossible is nothing” which was adidas slogan and KG was signed with them. He said it wrong but it kind of worked out.
Lmao I thought for sure JT was gonna yell something to that effect and he delivered. “We did it!”
He shouldve just stolen Anything Is Possible tbh
good for him
r/NBA has been conquered
It’s all so…wicked…
Pissah, there I said it
Indeed.
The Buffalo will roam
So this is how r/nba dies? With Bostonian applause
We have caught and compromised to a permanent end, r/nba
God it makes me so happy
r/nbacirclejerk is next
I wish the Cs would had come back from that 0-3 so that sub would had gotten shut down.
Fuck em
Better to care too much than not enough. Ignore the haters. He’s a champ.
He'll probably get clowned for this but good for him man. Giannis did the same shit and it's good to see them not be afraid to let it all out
Anybody hating on this can go fuck themselves. Every basketball player has dreams of winning the championship. This is a dream come true for him.
He’s had some HEARTBREAKERS, you can tell how much last year’s ECF motivated Tatum and Brown for this year.
Yea man this guy has achieved his life long dream at 26 years old. So few people are that lucky
Dirk had to run to the changing room for a few minutes to collect himself. It's not something most of us can relate to in any meaningful way. What they give of themselves, what it takes to get to the top of that mountain... it's beyond what mortals are doing on the daily

Closest I got is finishing pledging lol
Now what you're not gonna do is make me like you now
I dream of winning the championship and I don’t even play basketball.
Anyone clowning on this is just a loser tbh lol there’s really nothing else to say
Where’s the highlight of his son hugging him and saying “Daddy” when he looks up to see him? That was so perfect it seemed scripted too lol (i don’t actually think it was scripted)
Tatum’s growth is complete. Edit: I’m not talking about him on court.
I hope he's not even close. Congrats JT and congrats Celtics 💚
hes not. his playmaking grew exponentially just THIS season.
The Celts winning after years of being so close gives me extra delusion that the 49ers might finally get their 6th Lombardi
I think if they played anyone but the Kansas City chiefs, they win their last 2 SB appearances.
I think if you just replayed those games they win at least one.
Playing perfect defense for almost 3 quarters and then a freak special teams play turning the tables 😤
Mavs fan here. Just wanna congratulate the Celtics. They were clearly the better team and deserve this title. I’ll root for my Mavs to get better and compete next year.

well deserved. fuck all the weirdo haters
I think most people like him but don't care enough to post all day so it is just weirdo haters and then celtics fans.
Good dad, isn't oozing narcissim. A better role model than most players in the league. I think his media/fan hype, his understated personality and playoffs inconsistentcy is just the perfect combo to fuel crazy social media hate.
Even Laker fans respect him
Tatum is the premium vanilla ice cream of NBA superstars. It's hard to find many faults with him, even if you don't like the team he plays for
Most fans like most players.
at the end of the day we’re all just basketball fans
Wouldn't know it from this sub lol
It’s fun to jokingly tease him but he’s an incredible player and a good guy too, you can’t hate one of the most well rounded players in the league.
I like pretty much all of the Boston roster as individual players, I just hate the concept of Boston.
Lmao its a beautiful city man
I just don’t like seeing boston sports succeed in general for how good they’ve been lol but luka is awful enough to watch that I couldn’t help but cheer for them this time 😂
Hey at least the Bears look like they’ll be stronger than the Patriots for a little while
That was my confusion about the crazy overwhelming support for the Mavs...
No joke. Luka and Kyrie are hard to root for. Fuck. Then they have their woman beating coach.
Discourse around JT has been so gross all season. Glad he proved he’s a champion at the end of it all.
Just low life trolls, glad this sub is conquered
When did Deuce get so fucking old? I could’ve sworn last season he was being swaddled and held.

Al Horford winning is my favorite thing about this championship. So much hard work finally paid off.
Over hated
I'm not here much these days, but I honestly don't get why. Is it because people think he's corny for the Kobe stuff?
He wasn't good enough fast enough for the social media age. In reality this Celtics team grew and matured at a very natural rate and is right in their prime where they should be winning a chip or two.

Or three or four 😬
For the sake of the rest of us, don't pay derrick white. That man is way too good relative to his contract.
Hauser is also one of the best deals in the NBA. Guy was one of the 5 best players on the court in game 5 and makes barely $2mil a year.
Its cool to mention him for some upvotes the whole game thread was people acting like if he wins finals MVP its blasphemy
Congrats on a great season! Soak it all in!
But why though? I genuinely don't understand. Regardless, the haters can eat shit now so w/e. Congrats to your squad.

I swear I read this exact same comment with the name changed 9 years ago. Well except the part about defending lobs
There is no understanding. Sports fans are just generally miserable and like to hate shit.
Game thread is basically YouTube comments. I personally think Brown deserves it but Tatum was the guy tonight.
He was actually beloved a few years ago. His IG posts were constantly being posted here the way SGA's are today. I think it's just because he played like Kobe's corpse against the Warriors in the finals and lost, and then started getting tons of shit after that from r/nba.

Kobe stuff was just more ammo, he's hated because he plays for the 18-time NBA Champion Boston Celtics
Wait did you say18 can you repeat that
Jayson Tatum plays for the 18-time NBA Champion Boston Celtics
the franchise with the most titles in the nba :/
This is the only sentence a Lakers fan could say that would get me to upvote them.
what about "skibidibi wewoooowewoooo chimichanga please"
Colour of his shirt truly

I really don’t understand why he’s the most polarizing player in the league other than that he plays for Boston, he’s like zoomer tim duncan in terms of personality lol
Nah he's not the most polarizing That's Rudy Gobert or Embiid But Tatum is unnecessarily hated on too much
If he played for any other team he wouldn’t get as much hate. He’s chill and is a professional guy on/off the court.
People are gonna find a way to hate on this lol
I’m obligated to hate everything to do with Boston sports success. Often times I know I don’t have a leg to stand on but sometimes ya gotta do what ya gotta do (at least when I’m talkin to my Boston buddies, gotta keep that hating 100%)
Love Tatum glad he was able to bounce back from the Warriors series
So proud of this guy and this team. Got a grown man crying over a hoops game
That’s what we call love for the game. Wish I can see the Sixers achieve this. Respect to Tatum. The whole squad.
Kobe pic incoming
r/nbacirclejerk 9/11 at heart, 12/25 to shitpost
“Take it while I’m frowning. Wait no I was smiling still”
I hope so. Tatum needs to embrace his corniness because it pisses people off lmao
Just keep winning every year and keep posting the Kobe pic with another trophy until all the Lakers dickriders go back to watching Valorant
whoever has Kobe's old number now is gonna get a weird text tonight
https://imgur.com/a/6srJDHj
Fuck Tatum haters. Congrats to Boston. They earned that shit.
Did anyone else hear him say to his son Deuce, "We did it! I love you." It just made me tear up even more for this sweet victory.
Tatum is high character idgaf who he plays for. He's a positive image for the sport imo
Im just sad Blake retired.
I FUCKING LOVE YOU JAYSON WIN US ANOTHER
Tatum proved himself!
You happy Boston?! You can’t go 5 years without a local team winning a championship.
Of course we’re happy and extremely grateful
Actually, the new england free Jacks won mlr last year. Of the major four sports, it's been four years four months since our last parade.
Zero tears
The hug with Brown 😢
Tatum haters can fucking CHOKE on it 💍
Fuck the haters lol he was 2 rebounds from a 30 point triple double btw
Have to admit it’s a very likable team.
How can you like basketball and not like his dedication to winning this chip.
Finally 18 is here and Celtics rule once again!! WHAT ARE THEY GONNA SAY NOW!!?! ☘️
They do it and get what belongs to them.Total champion🔥🔥🔥
So much better they won it at home. This would have sucked in Dallas.
I’m so happy for Al horford to finally get one
Not even a celtic fan but hilarious to see people finding a way to hate already... miserable 🤣
W Tatum. Man been through it. Enjoy the day fella.
My MVP
“Where’s my phone?! I need to text Kobe!”
We did it!
