Deni is a good player but he's a good piece to put around central pieces, he's absolutely not anyone you can build around. Let's look at Houston, Sengun? Okay, yeah, I think he can be a main piece of something. Let's look over at Charlotte, Lamelo and Miller can be built around. They don't have THE guy yet so you might as well send pieces out to get more shots at finding an important piece. It's not like Deni was going to change ANYTHING for the Wizards. Let's say they do get THE guy in this draft by pure chance, it's still years away before that means anything. Deni will be probably be past his prime or have walked by that point. He's not a good enough player. And I really don't think he's going to get that much better that they've sold too early on him. I think this deal is totally fine.
Deni is the same age as cade Cunningham.
He just went pro super early.
This is idiotic because, yeah he *might* but improve from here but he's still improved every year and not shown signs of tapping out his potential yet.
He literally already plays all NBA level defense and even if he never improves from what he is would be a big chip for a real team
Past his prime? Deni is 23 lol. He's not like Lauri Markannen on the Jazz. Deal is fine though imo. They can flip Brogdon and they got two picks. If the 2029 pick isn't a first, it was a dumb trade though. They could've gotten more from a contender imo.
I mean it's not exactly a new thing. Kobe did it to get to the Lakers. Dominique Wilkens refused to play for the Jazz. It probably happens a lot more than you'd think but doesn't always get reported
I understand trying not to go to a really undesirable location with a bad team somewhere in the lottery, but trying not to be #1 is something else lol. Also we were in the ECF not long ago and Atl is a great place for a rich young black man to be.
I'm team Rizzler/Buzelis and I was before Sarr's little tantrum about working out for us anyway, but that certainly sealed it.
the idea that you have to be a superstar to ask for a trade is ridiculous, imagine telling a regular guy he cant quit his job because he isnt the Home Depot GOAT
Deni Avdija didn't want out, actually.
It's a shock to everybody, including in Israel. lol
He is currently in Israel, the trade was announced at around 2 AM local time.
Imagine waking him up for it.
Yeah our side makes sense. Deni is a good role player on a good contract. Maybe Washington really likes this draft and thinks they can get a first from Brogdog
OK but why is Portland trading away picks?
I understand that Deni is still very young, but Portland is surely trying to tank for the next few years, normally you would see these teams try to get more picks, not trade them before they are ready to compete.
Three things:
* They must view Deni as better than anyone they can get at 14
* They'll still have 2 picks in 2029 at minimum
* Second Rounders don't mean anything
I’ve been reading that with our picks and people we have on contract we are out of bench space. So trading him for Brogdon and that pick frees up at least 1 spot.
Portland is ducking the tax. For as bad as they are, they're also expensive. This deal makes sense for them from that perspective.
The Wizards probably assume they can flip Brogdon, too? Because otherwise (and even then) I don't know why you'd want #13 instead of Avdija.
Edit: didn't see the second pick to Washington. Makes more sense for them.
But then... Wtf is a terrible Portland team doing getting rid of two FRPs for Avdija? And I like Avdija!
I mean, they probably feel that Avidija is better than any prospect likely to be there at 13 and the second best pick of the Blazers, Celtics, and Bucks 5 years from now isn't a huge gamble to trade away
He’s the type of player they desperately need. And he’s pretty young. Honestly I don’t think it was that aggressive to give up vet PG they wanted to move anyway and 14 in a pretty meh class when they already have 7.
Or someone a lot better. There’s a wide range that a lottery pick can become and Deni Avdija is nowhere near the top of it. I don’t mind the swing for them.
Advija has one of the best contracts in the league, can dribble, pass, and shoot. Plays good defence and is 23?
I get selling your assets but surely other teams would’ve paid more?
I would’ve seen him as a great piece for OKC (especially with all their expensive contracts in the coming years)
> is there a chance you guys trade out Jerami?
Consensus is that he’s been on the trading block for a while, but we like him enough that we’ll wait for a good deal.
Deni is a solid wing who has been rotting in Washington.
I personally am not super high on him myself but I accept that maybe it’s something I just don’t see cause people a lot more knowledgeable about basketball than me really like his game. Honestly I’m willing to bet he looks much better outside of Washington. And yall got him for a mid 1st round pick in a very questionable draft. Seems worth it to me
he would have fit so fucking well. Ive been saying it so long, Im so bummed man, unless scoot or Shaedon really is that guy, I wanted deni to go to a contender so bad :(
Going full tank for Flagg. It’s a great move. 14 and they can flip Brogdon for something else. Pair 2 and 14 with hopefully Flagg and Bilal and Washington fan base will be its most excited it’s been since Wall and Beal were up and coming.
Feel pretty alright about this. If Deni's 3 point shooting from this season wasn't a mirage it's a decent investment in a young wing who plays solid defense. Given that half of the players talked about in this draft are basically the same age as him a proven prospect locked into a good contract works for me. It also cleans up the cap sheet with the salary difference between Brogdon and Deni and gets the Blazers under the tax line. I'm also fairly certain Scoot is going to be much better at passing him the ball when he's open from 3 than Poole was so he'll probably be happier.
I know people will jump to "WHY IS PORTLAND TRADING A LOTTO PICK" but Deni is a damn good player on a phenomenal contract and he'd be a good 3 next to Scoot and Sharpe.
Portland wins this, gets off brogdan for solid return. Just confused why Wiz give up Deni for Brodgan and the chance at drafting someone who may or may not be as good as Deni.
Assuming Brogdon gets flipped for more picks. Essentially three FRP for Deni wouldn’t be bad. Maybe clearing wing minutes for Bilal and whoever we draft tonight?
I’m not surprised we traded Deni at some point, he has value now and we’re tanking (and he’s not a cornerstone piece), just hope we got the best deal we could.
Gives Bilal space to grow and gives you another bite at the apple in the late lottery tonight to pair with 2. Trade brogdan later if you want. Bit early for me giving up on Deni but they must think this year was a flash in the pan.
I like Deni Avdija more than whoever is available at 14th this year. He had a really good year after finally getting some usage with Beal and KP gone. Brogdon is a non factor.
Brogdon is still pretty damn good as a 6th man for a contender, he cooked for Portland last year. He's easily worth a late first from a contender, not sure why Wiz would want him though.
Blazers just need to get Cody Williams and then we got a fire young roster. Scoot, Sharpe, Williams, Deni, Ayton has some potential. Still gotta trade ant and grant and Robert tho.
What a random ass trade Wiz finally develop someone who kinda nice and they trade him lol
They're trading him for the possibility of getting another Deni in this draft.
A boats a boat but the mystery box could be anything. It could even be a boat!
We'll take the box!
[удалено]
That pick could be anything even another Deni
Deni is a good player but he's a good piece to put around central pieces, he's absolutely not anyone you can build around. Let's look at Houston, Sengun? Okay, yeah, I think he can be a main piece of something. Let's look over at Charlotte, Lamelo and Miller can be built around. I respect the wizard’s for not wanting to waste his career
Past his prime? Deni is 23 lol. He's not like Lauri Markannen on the Jazz. Deal is fine though imo. They can flip Brogdon and they got two picks. If the 2029 pick isn't a first, it was a dumb trade though. They could've gotten more from a contender imo.
Yep, also they can defo flip Brogdon for a young wing
Great call by Portland though.
It's a new GM who didn't draft him but signed him to an incredibly valuable declining contract and is cashing in on his 1 good season to help the tank
Help the tank? They are the tank.
This team is just built stupid
Why
Probably asked out
Deni Avdija asking out lmao Adam Silver’s NBA
Poor Furkan Korkmaz asked out for 4 years before finally being mercy traded
Lowkey respect Philly for just ignoring him. Korkmaz does not have the juice to be asking for a trade.
Only 20 players have played more seasons for the 76ers than him
Legacy player. Real ones know.
It's not like they got anything remotely useful for keeping him for 4 years though. So gratz on the wasted roster spot to stick it to a player.
Spite is its own reward.
he wasn't worth anything on the trade market lol
No one wanted to trade for him probably.
Players probably ask out all the time, their agents just don't let it go public if it's embarrassing.
Not as bad as Bones fucking Hyland asking out
Bones is still a moron for that ngl
Well they don't call him Brains Hyland.
We've got a prospect casually asking not to get drafted #1.
Insane shit man, I wouldn't wanna draft sarr for that shit alone. Dude ain't even in the league yet he's tryna control where he goes
I'm team Rizzler/Buzelis and I was before Sarr's little tantrum about working out for us anyway, but that certainly sealed it.
There are like 2 or 3 teams I can see a legitimate reason for not wanting to go #1 to. The Hawks are not one of them lol.
Brodie in Washington now. He didn't want the trae alley oops so now he get poole😭. Headass
the idea that you have to be a superstar to ask for a trade is ridiculous, imagine telling a regular guy he cant quit his job because he isnt the Home Depot GOAT
To Portland?
Bruh. They have those bikini coffee shops.
Just don’t be a dick or we will punch a hammer through your windshield.
That's Seattle yo
Seattle is now officially annexed to Portland because they don’t have a basketball team of their own.
lol, I’m definitely a blazer fan because the Sonics left. General regional solidarity and all that doesn’t hurt.
Yeah, but we are the sole team representing the PNW, so until the Sonics are reborn I’m claiming that territory. 😂
I thought that was Seattle. All my bikini baristas just jerk me off in my car behind 7-11 while I sip a latte.
The dream of the 90s really *is* alive in Portland
You going to catch the clappaccino.
As you should
Ok but DC has the Crumbs & Whiskers: Kitten & Cat Cafe if he wants to be surrounded by pussy while he sips a latte. Makes no sense.
Very normal thing to do
[удалено]
I agree. Too bad no free agents do.
Deni Avdija didn't want out, actually. It's a shock to everybody, including in Israel. lol He is currently in Israel, the trade was announced at around 2 AM local time. Imagine waking him up for it.
Yeah let’s listen dude on Reddit lol
This trade has existed for five minutes and so far literally every response has been a one word question.
What?
Great example of what I'm talking about.
Blazers didnt like this draft im assuming
It's why for Washington not Portland
Yeah our side makes sense. Deni is a good role player on a good contract. Maybe Washington really likes this draft and thinks they can get a first from Brogdog
Deni 23 and more than a role player already, he's gonna be very good
I think he's starter caliber, but 15/4/7 is still a role player.
15/4/7 with plus defense is a good NBA starter.
He can be a good starter and still a role player. It isn't a negative title lol
Isn’t any player who isn’t a star at most a roleplayer by how those terms are usually used lol Right now there is no way you can consider Deni a star
Blazers could have thought this is the best draft of all time you do this deal 10/10 times they fleeced the Wizards.
Blazers needed a wing and a big man. Got their wing who is still young.
they do have a wing logjam and they're probably adding Sarr, why you trade Deni over like Kuzma though idk
Deni, Coulibali, Sarr could’ve been a very interesting defensive lineup. They must love someone in this draft.
Troy weaver getting to work in Washington
They are going all in on Cooper Flagg, makes sense to trade Deni to be dogshit but this return is just awful.
OK but why is Portland trading away picks? I understand that Deni is still very young, but Portland is surely trying to tank for the next few years, normally you would see these teams try to get more picks, not trade them before they are ready to compete.
Three things: * They must view Deni as better than anyone they can get at 14 * They'll still have 2 picks in 2029 at minimum * Second Rounders don't mean anything
We also don't have the roster space to pick 4 guys in this draft, and need to clear up some cap space.
I’ve been reading that with our picks and people we have on contract we are out of bench space. So trading him for Brogdon and that pick frees up at least 1 spot.
Do you think you are more likely to trade Jerami Grant now, since him and Deni both play the same position? Or does this not change much?
I’m still hopeful we trade him or Simons. I like them both but I am of the thought we are taking development from some of our youngsters.
Brogdon gets passed around every offseason
A modern day Luke Ridnour
Him getting traded 4 times in the span of a week was amazing
Luke rid-now
He's like the town bicycle. Everyone's had a ride.
What the fuck is Washington doing? There has to be another trade coming
Tanking. I'm sure they'll trade Kuz and Brogdon too if a decent offer comes along. I'm just surprised Portland is being this aggressive.
But then... Yeah that pick isn’t amazing or anything. I like this for Blazers
Denial would be great for you guys. Any news on what's happening to Timelord. Are they going to run it back? Edit: wtf denial. I meant Deni lol
He’s the type of player they desperately need. And he’s pretty young. Honestly I don’t think it was that aggressive to give up vet PG they wanted to move anyway and 14 in a pretty meh class when they already have 7.
All in on the Poole Party
TIMMMY HARDAWAY INCOMING…..
Bingo
Wiz get THJ. Mavs get crisp high five.
Tank Hommander Jr
He's too good for the tank
When we pick Topic 14th and he becomes SGA lite in 3 years, it will all make sense
Walking away with Sarr and Topic tonight would be amazing.
I don’t hate it
Really don’t understand this for the Wizards
A statement I’ve uttered about every Wizards transaction since Bush was president
They did fleece the Lakers with the Westbrook deal. Can’t think of any other good Wizards trades though.
They won the Beal, Wall and Westbrook trade, unloading big contracts is the talent of this front office
Yes. On the other hand, signing big contracts...
can't say they won the Beal trade when they backed themselves into a corner with the dumbest no trade clause in NBA history
The FO that unloaded those contracts isn’t the same FO that gave Beal the NTC
They traded him tho
The wall trade to get Westbrook was stellar
HW or W?
Yes
Since the one that invaded Iraq. Wait.
Probably will flip Brogdon for another first later. Two firsts for Advija is pretty good
Really doubt they get a first for Brogdon unless they take on a bad contract as well
Ok sounds good
Ben Simmons incoming
Oh no, not a bad contract!
That’s our specialty buddy
That’s our specialty
That 14th pick could become anything, even Deni Avdija
Or someone a lot better. There’s a wide range that a lottery pick can become and Deni Avdija is nowhere near the top of it. I don’t mind the swing for them.

I barely understand this trade for us.
Doesn’t Deni fit your timeline wayyy better than Brogdon? And is there a chance you guys trade out Jerami?
> is there a chance you guys trade out Jerami? Consensus is that he’s been on the trading block for a while, but we like him enough that we’ll wait for a good deal.
Portland needs to trade Grant. 100%. I think they would trade Ayton if they got value for him as well.
Great young player on cheap deal? What are you not getting
Seems worth it to me
This is an insanely good trade for Portland. You should be really happy.
What an awesome deal for Portland. I saw "Deni Avdija" after seeing the Stein report about THJ and my heart stopped lol.
IT SHOULD'VE BEEN US 😭😭😭
he would have fit so fucking well. Ive been saying it so long, Im so bummed man, unless scoot or Shaedon really is that guy, I wanted deni to go to a contender so bad :(
If they can stay healthy, they're both gonna be that guy.
What’s up with O-Max?
He's got potential but still quite raw. He'll probably get more minutes this season if we dont trade him.
Oh tonight is gonna be crazy lol
This is a great start. I wouldn't be surprised if we do some other random shit tonight.
What the fuck is Washington on 😂😂😂
Going full tank for Flagg. It’s a great move. 14 and they can flip Brogdon for something else. Pair 2 and 14 with hopefully Flagg and Bilal and Washington fan base will be its most excited it’s been since Wall and Beal were up and coming.
Nets vs Wizards in a Flagg War.
Capture the Flagg, if you will.
Their trading brogdon to the mavs
I don't think we need Brogdon tbf. We need someone that can start as SF, defend and shoot.
Like Deni?
.... yes. Stop hoarding good wings while you're tanking, please.
More like Jerami tbh.
I would take either tbh
rather the blazers then a contender lmao
Just wait lol
Scoot MVP and DA DPOY otw
Duop Reath 6MOY
reath lineup > death lineup
@wojespn: “Portland will be routing Avidja and a first round pick to Boston in exchange for Jordan Walsh.”
Portland assistant GM n former ESPN draft analyst Mike Schmitz called him the steal of the draft at the time
Great deal for Portland. Bit confused why Washington would do this? Surely Avdija is better than whoever they can get at 14?
Topic tho
Why is Washington trading Deni at all? He’s good!
The Troy Weaver curse has moved to washington LOL
Huge steal for Portland here wow. Deni is such a solid player. Great get
Wasn’t Deni like their one bright spot?
Wizards probably the only team without a franchise player
More like a decently lit light bulb that won’t get too much brighter unless it’s placed in a different lamp
I know people will jump to "WHY IS PORTLAND TRADING A LOTTO PICK" but Deni is a damn good player on a phenomenal contract and he'd be a good 3 next to Scoot and Sharpe.
i think people are more confused as to why washington is trading one of the few good players they actually developed.
I prefer Deni to anyone that was available at 14 for sure
Not a single person in this thread has exclaimed that
Portland wins this, gets off brogdan for solid return.
Deni supposed to be on a contender or something what is this shit
Lowkey would’ve kept Deni but I guess we wait on the 2029 protections
Brogdon went from being an asset on competing teams to the cellar dweller teams. Cold world
trade season is the best
Deni is a good proven NBA player and the same age as Knecht. This is a great deal for Portland.
2029 what pick? First?! No way
This is a bad trade simply because I wanted him on the Mavs
2 1st round picks and a clear avenue to tank away... good deal fo the Wizards
Damn I wanted him
What the fuck are the Wizards thinking? He was by far their most intriguing player for the future. That’s insane.
Dogshit trade for Washington tbh, but I just hate this because I wanted both players to end up on teams that are trying to win.
That's IT?! DAMN. Deni is good, this draft isn't, and he's on a great contract. Bonkers!
2 1sts and 2 2nds, what more could Deni fetch?
but why?
I am whelmed
Not on my pre-draft bingo card
Gives Bilal space to grow and gives you another bite at the apple in the late lottery tonight to pair with 2. Trade brogdan later if you want. Bit early for me giving up on Deni but they must think this year was a flash in the pan.
Wiz selling high on Deni, and per Bobby Marks this gets the Blazers under the first apron tax
This Brogdon guy sure does move around a lot.
Win win trade????
Seems decent for both sides?
I like Deni Avdija more than whoever is available at 14th this year. He had a really good year after finally getting some usage with Beal and KP gone. Brogdon is a non factor.
They got a 2029 first
What about that 2029 pick?
Brogdon is still pretty damn good as a 6th man for a contender, he cooked for Portland last year. He's easily worth a late first from a contender, not sure why Wiz would want him though.
Deni is young and really good
Really good is a massive stretch idk why this sub has suddenly developed this massive hard on for deni
Bruh his contract is like 10 mln.. he is averaging good % for 14/7 on a good size
Blazers just need to get Cody Williams and then we got a fire young roster. Scoot, Sharpe, Williams, Deni, Ayton has some potential. Still gotta trade ant and grant and Robert tho.
Washington what are you doing baby
Wizards are doing something else aren't they ?
Yikes for Brogdon
Tracking Brogdon's movement over the past few seasons is like playing Carmen Sandiego.
