Goddammit 2k11 was so fun. None of that my player BS, just make a character and go straight into gameplay and upgrade him after every game to become a demigod after 1 season. Good times
I reached a point where having all these 2nd rounders is lowkey giving me anxiety. Glad we spent some, also means Presti wants this guy spending 5 picks like that on a single dude
100%
The most effective way to navigate a long window of contention with the new cap structure is to be able to churn out young talent to replace aging talent that you can't afford to keep holding. If they can continue pick laundering into the future, they can keep taking shots at accomplishing just that.
Either way, OKC is going to end up giving away future stars all over the place because of how hard that task actually is.
Nah it just sounds like the bulls got finesseD. Like were they really bad at negotiating? They had a ton of suitors from last year. He shot 40% from three, played 71 games on a bad team that would have had a lot less wins/ close games without him.
Giddey is young but he also has significant flaws that was exposed in the offseason on top of his poor regular season.
They really couldnt muster anything. It’d be even funnier if they still cant trade away lavine and Vuc. Directionless rn
OKC still has like 9 - 15 1st round picks and 20+ 2nd rd picks even after this trade.
They can still give whatever they want for trades down the line. Plus, their own young guys could fetch picks as well if they decide to trim their roster of prospects.
Dillon Jones is 6'6" in NBA measurements (6'4.5" barefoot, and NBA rosters typically add 1" for shoes and round up from there if necessary) with a 6'11" wingspan and is already like a thick 230-240lb. He averaged like 8-10 rebounds per game and showed off a good passing game.
If he's a 3/4 in the league who can rebound, be physical, make good decisions, and move the ball, that kinda *is* our need. Obviously a veteran would be playoff ready, but we now have like 4-9 years of contract control of Dillon Jones if he fits with the team and his long range jumpshot gets to an acceptable level (he shoots great from the free throw line, has a good midrange pull-up game, and his passing/floaters demonstrate touch; all of which are good signs for shooting potential).
I would 100% trade five second rounders that we can't roster for first-round-pick-contract-control over someone who could actually fit our needs really well.
Second round picks are being coveted by executives rn because they can get you cheap multi year deals that dont have to rely on the mid level exception. Zach Lowe has been discussing how they are gaining in popularity with the new cba coming in.
All the cap rules change this offseason. 4 tiers: non-tax teams, luxury tax teams, 1st apron, 2nd apron
The more the teams cap the higher the level. 2nd apron teams are severely limited in signings and trades.
Draft picks are going to become more valuable for high cap teams. 2nd round picks have added cap bonuses
1. This hurts because you're not wrong
2. It hurts extra because we used to be brothers in misery. Two big market teams sucking for so long. Now we don't even get that because you fucks actually spent the last x years trying to improve your team instead of retreading what is known not to work.
This shit is just too much. Watching an entire fanbase be slowly tortured by incompetent management triggers my Knicks PTSD. I can't insult my ancestors by rooting for the Bulls, but at this point I'm rooting for Bulls fans.
Likely it comes with a verbal "IOU1" from the Knicks. Sometimes these wild trades happen because of good GM-to-GM relationships or GMs looking to make a relationship with another GM, and Presti may have scored big brownie points with Rossas.
If you thought the Knicks got swindled in the Mikal Bridges trade, then you haven’t been paying attention. The Knicks FO is crazy good at flipping picks. Last draft they had a FRP (2022) they traded it to OKC for 3 FRPs then flipped one of them and Kemba Walker to the Pistons for a more likely to convey FRP and an extra 8m in salary cap space they needed to sign Jalen Brunson. Watch them have FRPs to replace the ones they sent to BKN by the time of those drafts.
I know 2nd round picks get tossed around, but this feels like an overpay, right?
The 26th player in a weak draft class vs. 5 lottery tickets in deeper drafts?
25th in a weak draft is still way more valuable than 2nds in strong drafts. Weak draft implies the talent at the top is weak, the players towards the middle and the end have much less variation
Lottery tickets are worth nothing 99% of the time. Its the small bit of hope that makes people overvalue them. Most second round picks dont become rotation players for the team that drafted them. If Presti really liked this guy, OKC is trying to win now and eventually he has to trade some of them.
OKC literally can't use all those seconds since they already have too many development guys and no roster space, smart to trade them up in any way possible. They can't even use all their firsts, this guy is probably getting cut in 2 years. Also why it was dumb Chicago didn't get some picks in the Caruso trade.
Literally was talking to a buddy a minute before the trade came through about OKC having 20 second round picks and how they needed to get off some of those...
When you keep adding second round picks to the trade until it eventually goes through
Not sure how it’s now but back when I played 2K you could offer I think max 2 or 3 picks.
2k12??
2K6 - 2K12 was peak imo
I still play 2k14 regularly, currently on a 7-championship steak with the Jazz rn with a dude named Wes Turk winning MVP for the last 6
That's the dude from East Turkey, which makes it even funnier
2k7 with the mid game awards was great
Goddammit 2k11 was so fun. None of that my player BS, just make a character and go straight into gameplay and upgrade him after every game to become a demigod after 1 season. Good times
lol one season of the easy grind to get straight to the goat track, miss those days
I was an NBA live guy until like 2k10 and damn did I miss out on some classics.
Damn thunder only have 23 2nd rounders left in the tank now
I looked it up and that's actually true wtf. I knew they had a lot of picks but damn
I’ve lost track of all our picks if it helps
that's a great problem to have tbh
MyNBA players should know how stacked okc gets in like a few years lol (mfs had 4 all stars in my save)
I reached a point where having all these 2nd rounders is lowkey giving me anxiety. Glad we spent some, also means Presti wants this guy spending 5 picks like that on a single dude
Alternatively he's pick laundering before our very eyes
100% The most effective way to navigate a long window of contention with the new cap structure is to be able to churn out young talent to replace aging talent that you can't afford to keep holding. If they can continue pick laundering into the future, they can keep taking shots at accomplishing just that. Either way, OKC is going to end up giving away future stars all over the place because of how hard that task actually is.
they dont have the roster space to make all their first rd picks let alone 2nds.
They can keep converting 5 2nd round picks for 1 1st round picks and that would be 5 first round picks including the one they just got
In a row!?
Try not to trade any picks on your way to the parking lot!
Give up 5 picks, get 5 picks. Math
War chest is restocked baby!
I see y’all are well prepared for eventual tampering fines
It's okay to do the crime is you can pay the fine, or something like that
we tampered once to get brunson, and then the boys handled all the tampering for us since lol
Players can’t tamper so we good!
Every day NYPD on the block. Bust trees
Seen ya gyal at the park
This is like the leave a penny take a penny tray?
Use them wisely. See yall in the finals next year 🫡
The west playoffs gonna be a battle again lol
It was only supposed to be 2 SRPs, but that giant-ass bag that Presti carries around split open and second rounders kept falling out.
*keep the change ya filthy animal*
If the SRPs stick together, it counts as one SRP.
Presti and Leon stay feeding each others addictions
shaq and kobe of draft night
One man’s treasure is another man’s treasure
Presti and Leon Rose as bffs at this point
They're the junkies in Narcotics Anonymous still supplying each other lol
This is so on brand for both teams lol
Lol cheers lads
Got our picks back from the Mikal trade!!
'we got picks at home'
I think they shrunk a bit in the dryer
Honey! I shrunk the picks
What is this? A draft for ants?
I just got back from swimming. The water was cold.
Do the nets know about shrinkage? How could they know?
Did you also get David Goddamn Putney?
That's money talk!
Bulls not getting any picks from OKC keeps getting funnier and funnier
I’m laughing my ass off. “Dillon Jones” nets the Knicks 5 picks. NBA champion Alex Caruso nets the Bulls nada.
I mean Josh Giddey is significantly more valuable than 5 second round picks
The Bulls should have been able to at least get a single 2nd back with him tho lol. Caruso is a legitimate contributor.
Probably yes I also don't think a second round pick either way drastically changes anything
Nah it just sounds like the bulls got finesseD. Like were they really bad at negotiating? They had a ton of suitors from last year. He shot 40% from three, played 71 games on a bad team that would have had a lot less wins/ close games without him. It’d be even funnier if they still cant trade away lavine and Vuc. Directionless rn
why? Giddey is a lottery pick and 21. They probably won this trader. OKC as a contender has to give up upside to add for fit.
3 years from now, people will say Thunder got fleeced after Giddey averages 22/10/8.
5 srp > 4 frp
It’s basic math 😏
2 > 1
Why does OKC seem to help us/trades with us every draft lol
Idk they fleece every team but dump all their extra picks on us lol. I guess we just have a good relationship with theme
It’s the Maveknicks at it again. OKC loves to help both of us for whatever reason. They basically gifted us Gafford for a pick swap last deadline.
you make it sound like *we* gave up gafford for a pick swap. from our side, we just got a free pick swap. it was sweet.
Presti doesn’t have his glasses on and thinks the Knicks uniform is the Thunder
All blue and orange teams are brothers
Shirt brother!
Do you need my help, shirt brother?
Somebody gotta beat Boston over there
Blue and orange brothers.
Relations
We essentially traded 24 for 6 2nd rounders hah
so dillon jones needs to be as good as jae crowder for this to have made sense for okc
We just traded 5 Aaron Wiggins.
3 Aaron Wiggins, a Jokic, and a Brunson
I refuse to let my disappointment distract me from the fact that Shai and Hartenstein just started following each other on all social media.
Turns out that was fake apparently. They’ve been following each other for ages
5 Bronnys you mean
Or a Bradley Beal minus 1st round swaps and a Chris Paul
James Wiseman is also a good barometer
not necessarily. these picks don't mean anything to OKC since they have a stash without the means to actually roster that many players.
They mean something because they could be traded for an okay role player at a position of need
OKC still has like 9 - 15 1st round picks and 20+ 2nd rd picks even after this trade. They can still give whatever they want for trades down the line. Plus, their own young guys could fetch picks as well if they decide to trim their roster of prospects.
That is INSANE lol.
Yeah we have 4 first rounders just next year lol feeling pretty fine with dumping 5 second rounders.
There is just no way you could roster that much picks. Most likely you'll just keep trading for future picks for eternity. lol
Dillon Jones is 6'6" in NBA measurements (6'4.5" barefoot, and NBA rosters typically add 1" for shoes and round up from there if necessary) with a 6'11" wingspan and is already like a thick 230-240lb. I would 100% trade five second rounders that we can't roster for first-round-pick-contract-control over someone who could actually fit our needs really well.
Yeah because i'm sure they hadn't considered those options already
bag alert major bag alert
Another ☝️
No brainer to save money and collect assets
How does this move save money?
i think second rounders don't count towards second apron or something
what the fuck did you just say
Second round picks are being coveted by executives rn because they can get you cheap multi year deals that dont have to rely on the mid level exception. Zach Lowe has been discussing how they are gaining in popularity with the new cba coming in.

No it’s cause 2nd rounders cost less than signing someone on the minimum since they make less than the vet min
Excuse me WHAT???
“Oops, some picks fell out of my pocket. Forgot about those.” - Sam Presti, probably
He reached max encumberance on picks and had to drop some
when Presti gets hit he drops picks like sonic drops rings
The venn diagram of r/NBA and DND is I guess you and me.
encumbered is a pretty popular gaming mechanic lol my first thought was skyrim actually
Those damn ebony warhammers weigh a ton
And my axe
But No Chicago you still can’t have one - also presti
Presti having so many picks that he’s kind of like “fuck it take them” is so silly lol
Just gifting military units to city states at this point for the +3 influence
Except Chicago didn’t even bother to ask apparently.
Pick Dump
Bro are you kidding me. Not even a project center I can over hype????
Veteran minimum it is
Is Earl Barron still playing?
That's the sound of the second round around the corner
The last time they flipped picks like this it was to create cap space to sign Brunson. They might be re-signing Hartenstein.
You gotta think the eye was on Missi and we pivoted once he went off the board
Pacome is a real nice upside pick tho
Can we have some picks? Presti reaches in pocket and pulls out a wad of 2nds: *here ya go kid*
Shit I’ll take those
That's huge for you to fill out the roster after getting hard capped
Well fuck, GG Knicks
We traded a nickel for 5 pennies
more like we traded 1 shiny penny for 5 pennies lol
You're dealing with Presti. Watch this dude become the next Ray Allen or some shit.
Hey that penny could be really good in a coin press
Hey so we got more currency than before, I like it
We cant get any of these 2nd rounders w giddey??
Quiet buddy, the adults are talking
It’s okay, Giddey wasn’t interested in this conversation anyways
Yeah everyone in the draft 18 yo
1. This hurts because you're not wrong 2.
Giddey has left the chat
I’m dead 😭💀💀
Cannot wait for the day Reinsdorf finally sells the team.
It will never happen. His son seems like a clone of him. We have at least another 30 years
Pain 😭
Bro why is this so funny lmfaoo
Just the right level of disrespectful
Maybe the Knicks will give yall one for humor reasons
You can’t trade any future kids for him
Well they sure do have enough of them
We have 23 left still lmao
Presti lookin like Oprah out here
5 seconds always sounds crazy. The Jae Crowder special
FIVE??!?? 😭😭😭
still got 23 left so idgaf
Knicks created more cap space for Hartenstein to resign.
_5_ second round picks, and Chicago couldn't get 1 for Caruso lolol.
That is really just the funniest thing, 5 picks for some random late first rounder and not a single pick for Caruso 💀
Funniest trade of the entire week
Likely it comes with a verbal "IOU1" from the Knicks. Sometimes these wild trades happen because of good GM-to-GM relationships or GMs looking to make a relationship with another GM, and Presti may have scored big brownie points with Rossas.
The Knicks and Thunder have done a lot of draft-day trades recently. In 2022 the Knicks traded their #11 pick (Dieng) to OKC for 3 protected FRP’s.
I thank Leon Rose everyday.
If you thought the Knicks got swindled in the Mikal Bridges trade, then you haven’t been paying attention. The Knicks FO is crazy good at flipping picks. Watch them have FRPs to replace the ones they sent to BKN by the time of those drafts.
Thats the Jae Crowder haul
Lmao gotta unload them
Got the picks back yall - Bridges was a free trade
Bronny to the knicks otw
Knicks got some trade assets back now
5?! I think this qualifies as a gambling problem
They’re about to take Hartenstein from us so whatever
Well we do need to get back some draft capital after the Mikal trade...
Yep, and they need the cap space to possibly re-sign Hartenstein and stay below the 2nd apron.
wtf
I know 2nd round picks get tossed around, but this feels like an overpay, right? The 26th player in a weak draft class vs. 5 lottery tickets in deeper drafts?
The thunder don't have roster room for 2nders w all their first round picks to come
Presti has a ton of 2nds hoarded, they can afford to throw them around like this
25th in a weak draft is still way more valuable than 2nds in strong drafts.
Presti: "Oh, it's picks you want? I got picks."
Yo that’s crazy
FIVE?! And Chicago couldn’t even get one with Giddey?
Smoke em while you got em
Second round picks are the new first round picks
Yo fuck you OKC
Lmao we are gonna rehoard all the picks used for Mikal slowly
So much for not having any picks…
2nd round picks are gonna be important for 2nd apron teams
OKC literally can't use all those seconds since they already have too many development guys and no roster space, smart to trade them up in any way possible. They can't even use all their firsts, this guy is probably getting cut in 2 years. Also why it was dumb Chicago didn't get some picks in the Caruso trade.
But fucking bulls couldn’t even get one. Trash FO
5 picks giveth, 5 picks geteth
TRADE MARKET RESET
Literally was talking to a buddy a minute before the trade came through about OKC having 20 second round picks and how they needed to get off some of those...
Bulls couldn't even get one damn pick for Caruso and the Knicks get 5 fucking lol
Just fell to me knees
Presti running out of room on the shelf
There's only so many 7th graders he can keep scouting reports on
Lost his assistant GM to the Bulls
Lmao what
Forget Bridges, this is what Leon Rose lives for
oh my god we got picks back wtf
So we turned the 24th pick into six second round picks... Damn.
Wow, five Jokic for Dillion Jones, he must be really good
2k ass trade
