This brother was flipping pancakes in Atlanta with Trae and no one batted an eye clowning them.
But now that hes out west, *āoh no big scary DPOY caliber Dejounte is out West nowā*.
This whole āWest is such a bloodbathā really doesnt have the same credence after the East team just made the West team look like they dont belong in the same series.
Yeah, the champ of the west just got their shit kicked in by the champ of the east and two East teams gave them a tougher series. The west is TOUGH, but the east is really solid too.
Someone mentioned that contract in the quickley trade and in comparison it felt like a value deal.
They didnt give up much anyways, but this is some good work from the pels
Yeah a lot of deals that was signed before tv deal are insane steals
Go look at Coby white contract whoās arguably same level or better player than Quickley
Feels like bulls should take advantage of having Coby and ayo on amazing contracts but there gonna tank the years away and then have to really pay them
Don't disagree with them needing a shooter center but they already have a shooting C with Valanciunas. If they need a shooting C that can also not get played off the floor against small lineups, it'd cost them a lot of their assets (which tbf they have a fair bit)
Running through the list in my head, players that fit the mold, *could* be available and would raise their ceiling to contenders (Thomas Bryant level dudes aren't that imo)... maybe: KAT, Bam (shoots well enough and is a great passer), Wendell Carter Junior (?) and Myles Turner.
Personally, I think if they can't get a good deal for those guys, I think they should take a swing for some worse players (Bamba???) who could maybe break out and hold their assets. Worst case, they go with what they did last season at the 5 spot and just choose which C to play based on matchup.
I was so wrong HAHAHAH - I ended up looking it up and he took 1.5 3PA (1.3 being catch and shoot) for a SCORCHING 31.2%!!!
I think I just have PTSD from one game against the Spurs where he lit them up from deep.
EDIT: Get him out of there
He was actually a capable shooter when he played for the knicks he had five 3ās in a game before. The Celtics have zero need for his shooting though so he earned his minutes by contesting 3 point shooters from under the basket
Yes, only because you havenāt given Trey Murphy his extension yet. Also, BI comes off the books next season, but letting him walk for free isnāt a good decision. Youāll either need to extend or trade him
He seems like heās demanding a max or close to it, so itās a tough situation. Trading him can get rid of his cap figure, but NO will likely have to take back money to make the trade.
Extending Murphy will be a great move, but itās probably going to bring NO to $155 million next season, and thatās before bringing back salary for trading BI and filling out the roster
It has to be Minnesota. Makes too much sense regionally with the rest of the central division.
At least Memphis and New Orleans are reasonably close to the Texas teams.
The Knicks are as good as any other team in the nba now, I truly believe that. Granted, I would like Hartenstein to re-sign and thatās not looking great
the East is pretty good at the top if everyone is healthy. weāll have to see where the dust settles after all moves are made but Iād be surprised if I didnāt have the Knicks, Sixers, and Bucks (bit iffy on this one) in my top 10 teams going into next year
I also think the Magic and Pacers are gonna be better than people think next season
The West being good since the 90s is a self-perpetuating cycle. Good teams in the West miss the playoffs and get lottery picks while bad teams in the East make the playoffs and miss out on the lottery. The effect is in aggregate over time. Division winners should get in but after that all playoff teams should be by record from either conference
Pels seem to always be a threat... on paper. Every fucking season, high expectations, then boom. It all falls apart somewhere. Idk how to feel about them
I think you just summed it up really well.Ā
A ton of potential that never seems to cash in.Ā
The highs are really fun though. Especially for a fan base that hasn't had a lot of them.
east really isnt too shabby rn either. boston is a juggernaut, and depending on how the off season shapes out for the knicks, they might be looking hefty too. pacers were inexperienced but have great fight, and the 6rs and bucks arent anything to sneeze at. plus you have the cavs and the magic, who admittedly i forgot about, but i dont see how either team gets worse.
well yes, cuz the east play in teams that got booted are garbo by comparison. im not saying the east is deeper than the west, just that the west is not as op as most would probably think, and i think the playoffs really showed that. there were some definite battles in the east this post season.
I'm still of the opinion that Portland should've traded Dame instead of CJ. CJ would've got the tank done faster and probably come out of it better equipped to be in that role. CJ would still get to a new team eventually, and I think that general opinion on both guys would be higher.
I have to admit that I've always been pretty high on McCollum tho, so take it all with a grain of salt. Thanks for reading
As an Aussie I hope so, but on an individual level I donāt see it. As someone who contributes to winning I can for sure see it. I see him as that high level Swiss Army knife player.
Heāll need a sports psychologist to do it. He has no aggressiveness on the offensive end. His only moves are spin floater or wide open 3 (which heās not that great at anyway). Heās tall and can dunk when given a free lane but he avoids contact and only looks to pass when driving which isnāt always bad but he needs to be scorer too as a guard in this league. itās funny how we drafted him to be lonzos replacement and has the same issues as lonzo did. Iām sad to see him go and heās been one of the best young on ball perimeter defenders in the league. I wish our development was better and Willie didnāt have an allergy to playing young guys so they can gain confidence
For sure could be. I love him. However, thatās not our timeline rn which is very unfortunate. Weāve got to be competitive ASAP if we have ANY hope of keeping Zion, which is really the goal at this point.
The offense still looks horrid with 3 non shooters. I guess Murray can distribute better than Ingram, but whatās going to change down the clutch? Paint will continue to be overloaded as hell.
Hawks fan here in peace. DJ is a decent player, but heāll never get out of his own way. Craves to be the dude, but makes boneheaded decisions all the time.
Heāll put up numbers and give you some highlights, but heāll also have your shoulders sore from throwing up your arms. Heās a terrible defender that only wants the sexy steals, but doesnāt put in the blue collar work.
Wish the best and hope he finds it, but Iām going to bet this trade ages well for the Hawks.
I mean they had CJ "heat check when I've been bricking all game" McCollum at point last season. Murray might be the closest thing to a proper starting PG for the Pelicans since Jrue Holiday
Dyson is awesome, but I also think he might not have become his best self here anyway, stuck behind a lot of other players in rotation. I look forward to seeing him grow in Atlanta.
You can say what you want about his limitations as a player but you canāt deny Murray has a great contract. A top 15 pg for less than 20% of the cap. If heās your 3rd best player and meshes well with the other 4 starters then youāre cooking
I'm unsure about Dyson's development but I think trading that Lakers pick is gonna bite the Pels. Next year's draft is loaded and I'd rather ante up more for Trae Young if he was availableĀ
West is actual hell next year
I hate it here
Grizz are returning too. Ain't shit to smile about.
Plus the Lakers got Bronny. Shit is serious now
& Utah got Kyle Flip, man prayers them bottom seeds
Another milf in the west š
She's not a milf tho. Cougar with the hunting for sure
I wonder when the Lakers don't make the playoffs, who will they blame
Well it certainly wasn't going to be the other random guy that the Lakers would've gotten instead of Bronny.
yeah dude who tf needs draft picks? yaāll are about to sign Wembanyama in free agency
Who was the last 55th pick or later on your team?
We drafted Manu at 57.
I think there is a decent shot they miss it next year. In which case I would hate to be Bronny.
2nd round pick can never get the blame. Russell or Reaves
you forgot the new coach
Lebron can pass the mantle to his own flesh and blood šŖš¾šŖš¾
Glad we might be going to the East in a few years
but how will the Heat claw their way to the 8th seed every year then?
The most eastern team in the most eastern state will. Which is us.
You're fine in the West.
The team that would reduce travel the most by going east will move. Thatās the Timberwolves. There are six east teams closer to Minnesota than the next closest west team. Three of the teams in the wolvesā division arenāt even in the same time zone and one is two time zones over.
It gets explained every time this is brought up why Minny makes more sense and is more likely.
[This](https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Richard-Hoshino/publication/220543262/figure/fig6/AS:670718119407619@1536923069139/Map-of-the-NBAs-15-Western-Conference-teams-and-15-Eastern-Conference-teams.jpg) is the map that makes it clear why it should be the Timberwolves
You guys are closer to most western conference teams and all of the of the normal mn sports rivals are in the east.
Exactly, travel is quick to all the southwest teams (TX, OKC, NO)
Oh shush you just won it.Ā Now us finishing 11th when we would have been in the Play In the East... yeah I hate it here.
Who do y'all think DJ is? š
Lol I've been seeing so many overreactions about how good DJ is. Figures it's a Spurs fan who knows the truth...
People think dejounte is some crazy 2 way player, when last season our defense was better with Trae on and dejounte off
This brother was flipping pancakes in Atlanta with Trae and no one batted an eye clowning them. But now that hes out west, *āoh no big scary DPOY caliber Dejounte is out West nowā*. This whole āWest is such a bloodbathā really doesnt have the same credence after the East team just made the West team look like they dont belong in the same series.
Your team is stacked, but after that... ummm... something like the next 4 best teams are all in West.
Wheeew itās good to be in a rebuild rn
What are you talking about you have Dominatyton on board!
Scoot/Shae/Deni/Ayton/Clingan sheeeeiiitt just give us the damn trophy now
I like you attitude, let's show them a thing or three.
Cheers
this western conference is about to be an all timer
All teams making the WC playoffs in 2008 had at least 50 winsā¦the warriors missed the playoffs with 48 winsā¦wild times
Lakers about to be 9th seed.
And still make the play-in as the 7th seed.
And still get swept by the Nuggets
But they will be CLOSE GAMES with MORAL VICTORIES
Bronny will be added to list of players getting swept by nuggets š
Hey we got 1 this year! By 2027 we should be able to take it to 7 games!
And Hawks just got their 25 draft pick š
9th? What about the griz, spurs, rockets, kings, suns, pelicans, clippers?
West will probably have 8 of the best 12 teams at minimum, maybe 8/10.
Lol definetly not 8/10
Yeah, the champ of the west just got their shit kicked in by the champ of the east and two East teams gave them a tougher series. The west is TOUGH, but the east is really solid too.
No itās not. The cavs wouldnāt have made the playoffs in the west and Iām a cavs fan
Tell me with a straight face that you would take the pacers or the cavs over the mavericks right now
its ok yall got LeSon
As soon as next year East could have the worst 6-8 teams in the league. Need to start doing top 16 teams in playoffs soon.
8 of the top 11-12 teams in the same conference is maddening
East side is the best
How does it just keep getting worse and worse every year Why does the East coast have to suck so much
You mean every year?
Thatās fantastic contract after seeing Quickley deal and I like Quickley Good trade
Someone mentioned that contract in the quickley trade and in comparison it felt like a value deal. They didnt give up much anyways, but this is some good work from the pels
Yeah a lot of deals that was signed before tv deal are insane steals Go look at Coby white contract whoās arguably same level or better player than Quickley
Well a big part of that is Coby got worse every year from year 2 to year 4. The leap last year was kind of out of nowhere
Feels like bulls should take advantage of having Coby and ayo on amazing contracts but there gonna tank the years away and then have to really pay them
Pels cap situation is bad but this is step 1 to fixing it The next two steps are trading Ingram and CJ
Zion, DJM, Trey, Herb and whatever you can get for those two is definitely an interesting team with enough shooting and defense to support Zion
They really need to find a shooter center, even if hes coming off the bench. I dont know whos available tho.
Poeltl can defo shoot Donāt need to verify just take him
They can take Vuc... You didn't say he had to be a good shooting center!
He is one of the centers of all time
Bobby Portis?
Portis/Zion might be the worst rim protection Iāve ever heard ofĀ
But you *have* heard of them, right?
Don't disagree with them needing a shooter center but they already have a shooting C with Valanciunas. If they need a shooting C that can also not get played off the floor against small lineups, it'd cost them a lot of their assets (which tbf they have a fair bit) Running through the list in my head, players that fit the mold, *could* be available and would raise their ceiling to contenders (Thomas Bryant level dudes aren't that imo)... maybe: KAT, Bam (shoots well enough and is a great passer), Wendell Carter Junior (?) and Myles Turner. > but they already have a shooting C with Valanciunas. No we donāt :(
I was so wrong HAHAHAH - I ended up looking it up and he took 1.5 3PA (1.3 being catch and shoot) for a SCORCHING 31.2%!!! I think I just have PTSD from one game against the Spurs where he lit them up from deep. EDIT: Get him out of there
Lolol yeah heās had a few of those games here n there, but that def wasnāt his game. Also, heās pretty much already out of here.
Jalen Smith, Wagner, Theis, Kornet, Bryant
I adore Kornet but a shooting center he is not
Sorry I was looking at his stats from 5 yrs ago lol
Ya lol I guess he shot a three here and there earlier on in his career but he doesnāt anymore. Brings elite vibes though
He was actually a capable shooter when he played for the knicks he had five 3ās in a game before. The Celtics have zero need for his shooting though so he earned his minutes by contesting 3 point shooters from under the basket
Maxi available...
If hawkins develops into a movement shooter with decent guard defense thats an interesting small ball lineup
They are never trading CJ, but I expect BI to be moved
Should've never inked in on that CJ extension
Their books are very clean look at their future contracts thereās barely anything on the books after this coming season
I believe CJ's contract guaranteed till 2026
After this trade they have Zion Herb Murray and CJ as the only guaranteed contracts on the books after this season and cj will an expiring
CJ is good and his contract is reasonable. This sub continues to have a ridiculous perspective on CJ
What Iād give to have Ingram back
Bronny?
I wouldn't mind CJ on the pistons as long as we don't have to give much beyond cap space and mediocre assets.
Nate Duncan mentioned that the Pistons should try to flip CJ for Beef Stew. Maybe if they tossed in a first and some seconds?
This is incorrect their books are clean as fuck look at the contracts after this coming season
Yes, only because you havenāt given Trey Murphy his extension yet. Also, BI comes off the books next season, but letting him walk for free isnāt a good decision. Youāll either need to extend or trade him
Yea extending Murphy will be a good thing and they are actively looking to trade Ingram and said they wonāt max him so
He seems like heās demanding a max or close to it, so itās a tough situation. Trading him can get rid of his cap figure, but NO will likely have to take back money to make the trade. Extending Murphy will be a great move, but itās probably going to bring NO to $155 million next season, and thatās before bringing back salary for trading BI and filling out the roster
You realize that we need to pay money for whoever we trade for Ingram, right? Unless you think weāre getting expiring contracts for him.
Need expansion asap so we can boot some of these MFers to the East. West is too OP
I love how basically everyone has 0 belief in the east so everyones best hope to improve the east is sending a west team there
N.O Minny and Memphis location have always been in question one or two of those MFS needs to get moved over ASAP
It has to be Minnesota. Makes too much sense regionally with the rest of the central division. At least Memphis and New Orleans are reasonably close to the Texas teams.
Minnesota is going East. They're closer to Chicago, Milwaukee, Detroit, and Cleveland than any of the other West teams.
After watching Boston skull fuck the league last season. The knicks looked as good as anyone last season too and they have a great coach.
The Knicks are as good as any other team in the nba now, I truly believe that. Granted, I would like Hartenstein to re-sign and thatās not looking great

Only 1 team would go to the East lol
Yeah but west would at least have 2 bottom feeder expansion teams for a while
Wouldnāt it be two if we get Las Vegas and Seattle?
32 teams, 16 for each. Currently it's 15 for each
Yea, us!

It would only be one team booted, if 2 teams are added to the West. 15+2-1=16, 1/2 of 32.
Where does Ingram stand in all of this
Mitchell needs help in CLE
He should go miami
I wish but Riley and Miami are addicted to running it back
We don't want that quitter
In the visitor's locker room
Dejounte grows to a bigger birdie...
So.. BI gone for sure?
Let BI gones be bygones.
Big thing is MeJ isnāt their primary point guard anymore.
Im surprised he's been allowed to be in that role for so long when its clear that even whej it comes to play in games, he's not that guy
We never really were able to find someone even close to as good. What big name pg's have been on the market the last 2-3 years?
Who is MeJ Edit: ohhhh MeJ like CJ cuz heās greedy
Lmao reminds me of KoMe Bryant from back in the dayĀ
I'm still of the opinion that Portland should've traded Dame instead of CJ. CJ would've got the tank done faster and probably come out of it better equipped to be in that role. CJ would still get to a new team eventually, and I think that general opinion on both guys would be higher. I have to admit that I've always been pretty high on McCollum tho, so take it all with a grain of salt. Thanks for reading
CJ getting $32 a year for reference l. Feel like he is probably gone now? Also it's CJ McGollum
Doesnāt he have a 15% trade kicker?
Yep and they have to pay.
I feel like Dyson Daniels could be better than Murray in the next three years
He definitely could be.Ā He is good. He just has to develop a lot on the offensive end. He was just never going to get the reps needed on the Pels
I personally think he will be. Really solid trade for both teams
Dyson will need to learn how to dribble first.
Iād love to believe in that, but the man has zero offensive game. Heās closer to ending up a thybulle type than dj
So what happens to Ingram now? Does he get sent to the cavs for Allen?
If that trade is possible NO could be a real contender.
God, that would be such a steal. Griff would go right back into being a front office god for that.Ā
The offense still looks horrid with 3 non shooters. I guess Murray can distribute better than Ingram, but whatās going to change down the clutch? Paint will continue to be overloaded as hell.
The reverse CelticsĀ
No thanks we are good
3 non shooters in the starting lineup im not sure how they are contenders with that trade.Ā
Define āshooter ā
A basketball player who is good at shooting.
Murray isnāt good at shooting?
Idk you just asked for a definition of shooter.
Lol
35% from deep is the minimum. Though I would also say they need to be able to hit it from above the break or have at least 5 attempts a game
[Jose Alvarado?](https://youtube.com/shorts/L3N0Gq_a6k4?si=A2J1s6tDeFBoQqjy)
We wouldn't want Ingram plus the salaries don't line up. We want Murphy and a bunch of picks
Idk that many teams that are contending with three starters being non shooters.
The best I can do is one Caris Levert.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Did Herb die or do you have him off the bench?
Thereās no shot, they probably move up to the 5th best team in the conference and thatās not even a given
Thereās literally two good defenders in that lineup lol
One of the best contracts in the league.
For real, at that price he's a steal IF he can accept his role as 3/4th banana.
Great move for New Orleans
Hawks fan here in peace. DJ is a decent player, but heāll never get out of his own way. Craves to be the dude, but makes boneheaded decisions all the time. fuck this shit man thereās like 12 teams in the west that can make the playoffs ā ļø
I can't believe Atlanta gave up so little for Dejounte with that contract.
This is going to age well for Atlanta.
I'm unsure about Dyson's development but I think trading that Lakers pick is gonna bite the Pels. Next year's draft is loaded and I'd rather ante up more for Trae Young if he was availableĀ
Can the kings move to the east
Weāll switch with you. Need to ensure our braindead FO canāt delude themselves into going for a play in run
You mean move BACK to the east bring them back to Cincinnati I'd be happy with that
If Zion can finally stay healthy, they could be the next surprise.
The only thing I don't like about this is that I really wanted us to push for Garland instead
What the shit?Ā They asked for reaves, dlo, rui, two picks, and the iron-on in season tournament badge for murray.Ā And they trade him for Nance?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Lol imagine stealing from another redditor for fake points lol
If the east is going to continue being pretty shit, the way the playoffs and the league in general is set up needs to change.
They liked his contract huh?
Missing the trade kicker
SamwiseGamgeeShareTheLoad.gif
Two interesting personalities paired together now, let's see how this pans out
Bro can we just move out of the western conference? Iām scared.
Damn. Is Utah the only west team that might tank? Seems like the entire conference wants to fight
Creation for hi self, sure. Lmao
That's a pretty impressive starting lineup..
