[Rubber Band AI is an infamous hidden feature in racing games that allows computer-controlled opponents to catch up no matter how far behind they are. It is intended to keep challenging the player, but can also give AI opponents an unfair advantage.](https://www.giantbomb.com/rubber-band-ai/3015-35/)
Rubberbanding is when AI drivers speed up when they are behind you and slow down when they are ahead of you. It's supposed to make the game seem more challenging, when in reality it doesn't.
FINALLY SOMEONE WHO I CAN AGREE WITH
I get downvoted every time when i say that Undercover is decent and that i had a lot of fun with it replaying it recently. Sure it has a lot of problems, but i sure did have more fun than in Unbound.
undercover was actually the first nfs game i ever played, and it kinda sucks to see everyone hating on it so bad, cos i remember sinking like 200 hours into this game as a child, and having so much fun with it.
i would drive around the overworld in my little 240sx not a care in the world, and then get completely freaked out if i ever got into a police chase and would hand my dad the controller to get rid of them for me.
Funny, i thought i was alone with avoiding the police in nfs games because of my father. He was the only reason that i played U2 more instead of MW, i thought my father would get mad that i got into police chases in a videogame to the point where if i forgot to set the police presence to minimum, i would pull over for the police lol.
Maybe i got that from hot pursuit 2, but I can't remember properly Or maybe i just saw the busted scenes in the most wanted career.
Same here. Also it's OST and licensed tracks were great as well
Also despite its broken handling and physics, You can kinda get creative with it when doing maneuvers and during in-reverse.
I liked it. Loves the high speed races 1v1 with lots of traffic. I want more traffic in the newer titles.
The story was okay and they had the nfs classic with live action cut scenes.
Also loved that you had cops vs racer in multiplayer.
I would unironically put NFS PROstreet In the very best and honestly everything else can go. I FIRMLY believe pro street is STILL the best racing game to have ever been released. The drag racing, it’s captures the soul and essence of drifting, it features many famous tracks around the world including my favorite - Ebisu Minami. I could go hours and hours and hours and yap all fucking day about prostreet but I’ll spare you guys. There just so much that “spark” that game has that a lotta games are forgetting to put in games today.
Undercover solos Midnight Club LA (GOTY 2008)
why?
1. EASIEST nfs
2. they upgraded the final version's graphics (see hgorrible looking Undercover Demo)
3. REALISTIC PHYSICS (oversteer like in real life)
4. hot gyat FBI domimommy
5. hot gyat college girl with MASTUNG ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|heart_eyes)
6. some edgy asian dude
7. has dodge challenger
8. 3 citites like SAN ANDREAS
9. gta like missions
10. bollywood cutscenes
*You managed to have*
*Bad taste by only playing*
*One game. Impressive*

It felt a bit undercooked, but I had loads of fun playing it. It's like they took Most Wanted and just added MORE without thinking about it. But I liked the event variety, I liked the fact that there were more cutscenes, charaters were pretty cool, music was great. But honestly, the game looked and felt like it was still in beta with a shit load of content. Cars and roads were pretty detailed, but the world detail looked like it was on low settings no matter how much I cranked up the graphics. I don't know maybe I'm not saying it right, but it was like the beta version of a very arcadey game.
The run, most wanted 2012 and payback were my favorites. ahh the things id do to once again play some most wanted 2012 (my xbox one dosent accept the disc and all my 360 ctonrollers broke)
I feel like a lot of new NFS titles could learn from older games. 2015 was like the last normal NFS, then everything went fast n furious. How'd we jump like that
2015 : some big names are coming to town in the racing world, and we're gonna impress em and stand in the spotlight"
Payback : you lost your boss's expensive car and now you have to fight a whole city of racers, explosions, steal from a semi truck, OMG is that the MW BMW M3 GTR from Most wanted???? No the guy put a mod on and put that shit on yt for clicks. Bring down some fancy gambling empire. The cops on the box art, looks cool right? Must be REALLY FUN to run from them? They show up like a handful of times in missions. That's it.
Why can't we just have a normal underground racing game
I didn't think it was possible, but i also have only ever played undercover, and I Loved it, the only bug i encountered was really helpful, if you drove into the car wash behind some of the gas/petrol stations, the police physically couldn't get in, and you would eventually loose them.
That there has been at least one semi-decent game since The Run...everything has sucked since.
Hot Pursuit 2010 was the last amazing game. The Run was so-so. Most Wanted 2012 and onwards....TRASH HANDLING. UNPLAYABLE. I bought each one and hated each one.
I played NFS and Gran Truism games for over 15 years before that, it's not like I suddenly forgot how to drive cars in video games. The handling (being the primary factor) destroyed my interest in NFS. I finally didn't buy Unbound. I'll wait until they get the handling right.
I’ve not had a chance to play much NFS but I played the shit out Underground for a bit, needless to say never finished it though. Had a car beating races easily that when I added nitro it made the game crash everytime I selected it
It was a buggy mess. Did I have LOADS of fun? Yes! Is a game which is fun good? Yes! So I liked it.
yeah honestly aside from the AI having like giga rubber band i enjoyed it
Black box not rubber banding challenge (Impossible)
what's rubber banding? i've been reading those words constantly in this sub and i still don't get it lol

As you can see, we are a few :) I don't say its perfect, but from "beeing able to have fun with the game" it's just that. It provides fun.

You're dying, blacklung. You're talking crazy...
He’s a rat Dutch a rat
Ew con col me anything ew want but dont col me det
Cheap karma. Really wish mods would remove tier list posts.
See, this guy gets it
First nfs I ever played haha, those were the good times... 💔
IT'S A MASTAPIECE (HERE COMES THE MONAYYYYY)
I liked it. Loves the high speed races 1v1 with lots of traffic. I want more traffic in the newer titles. The story was okay and they had the nfs classic with live action cut scenes. Also loved that you had cops vs racer in multiplayer.
Valid
Pendulum FTW. Epic, epic soundtrack.
Granite by pendulum was my shit while driving in high speed pursuits
One of the best tier list I've ever seen
Shitpost appart, I actually really like it, but I think it's mostly because it was my first NFS game

I love Undercover too
I like undercover it has a great story
Undercover, with the mod I forgot the name of, is a really good NFS game.
I unironically love the original version of undercover even if it's objectively a bad game lmao
Reformed mod
I think you're talking about Project Reformed. However, I heard, that it doesn't work on cracked copies.
They may or may not be providing a cracked version of Undercover in their discord that may have worked fine for me. Can't be sure though.
the best? dude why do u hate the bestestestestestest game?

Well at least he's honest
You managed to have bad taste by only playing one game. Impressive

Nah agreed
Based
A fellow Undercover enjoyer. For years, it was my only NFS game.
2008 my dad bought his first nfs game he hasnt play any nfs games before somehow my dad and 6 years old me enjoyed it
First NFS i played and my first Xbox 360 game. My second was Burnout Paradise and I was suprised that both games have the same traffic cars
It felt a bit undercooked, but I had loads of fun playing it. It's like they took Most Wanted and just added MORE without thinking about it. Coworker where I used to work at has the exact same opinion.
Well, as much buggy that game was, the score is very well considering it as the only nfs you played
Peak shitposting. Love it
The run, most wanted 2012 and payback were my favorites. ahh the things id do to once again play some most wanted 2012 (my xbox one dosent accept the disc and all my 360 ctonrollers broke)

at least undercover had cool setting, aesthetic, soundtrack, and busted scenes
the satisfaction i got from racing on a straight highway with ghosts by ladytron playing in the background
Based. In all seriousness this game is way more fun than people make it out to be. It's one of my favorites despite how much of a mess it is.
BASED
Mw still too high
PS2 version was lit.
Possible hot take but I liked the ps2 version better
I wanna take you to jail but it's a valid list, I've played it when I was a kid and I enjoyed it then
I didn't think it was possible, but i also have only ever played undercover, and I Loved it, the only bug i encountered was really helpful, if you drove into the car wash behind some of the gas/petrol stations, the police physically couldn't get in, and you would eventually loose them.
First ever nfs game I played, on the wii with the steering wheel, such a fucken great time man
Which undercover tho PS3 or PS2 undercover. They have vast differences from each other?
10/10
Real
real
I played the PS2 version of undercover and had a blast.
whenever I see the cover of NFS Undercover. it reminds me of "Undercover" by Selena Gomez.
Wtf
shit

I see a giant middle finger.
When i saw nfs uc on the top i thought this is gonna be a rage bait post
Solid. The only NFS you've played is the best one you've played. Makes perfect sense
I seen Undercover in top tier and exited the post XD
If you like undercover you’ll love some of the other ones you haven’t played yet.
The only reason undercover is so underrated these days is the little amount of money you get per each race after the story finishes
I only played Carbon, most wanted and the hot pursuit + the remake and i rate all of those S++ tier
Need for speed rivals needs to be at the top it is very good. God sent game
Satire goes hard
Never played it so I couldn’t know
I’ve not had a chance to play much NFS but I played the shit out Underground for a bit, needless to say never finished it though. Had a car beating races easily that when I added nitro it made the game crash everytime I selected it
Idk if this is a meme, but this post definitely doesn't deserve to be in most popular section
i wouldn't call it the best. but it's still has enjoyable moments.
Absolutely horrible tier list. Your games in “Never played” should be under “The Worst”
Bruh
Go check Most Wanted (2005), Carbon and Underground 2.
xbox360 is very nice also on xenia emu it works in hd@60fps
Bro Fr only played undercover and not any other nfs game 💀
DEAR GOD... So, you've been playing Undercover, and NOTHING ELSE? That's just sad.
