Currently robbing a bank thanks for the info!

nixstyx

Which one? I don't wanna hit one that's been cleaned out already.

nihilite

*sigh* time to load the cannon with grape shot again.

quaffee

Tally ho lads!

Wablusmeed

Just as the founding fathers intended

BlameTheJunglerMore

For the folks that are not familiar with the meme, may I present to you a masterpiece: I own a musket for home defense, since that’s what the founding fathers intended. -Four ruffians break into my house. -“What the devil?” As I grab my powdered wig and Kentucky Rifle. -Blow a golf ball size hole through the first man. He’s dead on the spot. -Draw my pistol on the second man. Misses him entirely because it’s smoothbore and kills the neighbors dog. -I have to resort to the cannon at the top of the stairs loaded with grapeshot. -“Tally ho, Lads!” The grapeshot shreds two men in the blast. The sound and extra shrapnel set off car alarms. -Fix bayonet and charge the last terrified rapscallion. -He bleeds out waiting on the police to arrive since triangular bayonet wounds are difficult to stitch up. -Just as the Founding Fathers intended.

greenmachine8885

Don't let those rapscallions prevail

wilhelm_owl

You don’t keep your cannon loaded?

GraniteStateBlotto

What the devil?

OrganizationPutrid68

Better Living Through Canister...

[deleted]

I just got the alert that they are statewide.  That’s separate from the Mass. specific one I got earlier.

Substantial-Mud-777

I just got a statewide notice for nh

MilkFantastic250

Anyone know why yet?

D33M0ND5

Sketchy af tbh

quaffee

Why? It's really no surprise when we've transitioned our emergency comms away from copper wire in favor of VoIP.

D33M0ND5

VoIP runs on copper wire

quaffee

I'm referring to POTS lines. The kind that ran all the way from your house to your area's central office. And sure, coax has copper in it too if you were being facetious.

currancchs

Not to get too off topic, but nearly the same thing has happened to vehicles over the past 15 years or so, with home run wiring being swapped for CANBUS systems that use signalling over shared wires to control things and share information. Better in theory, but complexity nearly always leads to less reliability and security, and cars are no exception.

N-economicallyViable

Just not dedicated copper wire. Share isn't caring, it's a vulnerability.

Alex_2259

Absolutely it's a surprise, you can build very reliable network based infrastructure. POTS infrastructure is a risk, the talent to maintain it is drying up because the value of the skill set is diminishing.

DoctorFunktopus

New York’s went down at the same time definitely sketchy

aetius476

Celtics won and all the cops are piss drunk.

BermudaBum

Boston PD's driving around using their cruisers' PA telling people if there's an emergency to stop them or use a firebox.

keith-erskine

Fun fact: Fire alarm boxes use telegraph to send in the box number to the dispatch center

legocitiez

Whoa what a cool fact

OrganizationPutrid68

--- ---- ... .... .. -

goblinshark603v2

O? Shit. So close!

OrganizationPutrid68

Sorry. I'm learning morse code. Just found out that the Titanic sank. When did THAT happen?

Winter_cat_999392

That is actually a cool fact!

Auntienursey

Authorities are suggesting using the "fire call box" if you have an emergency. They will be sending police, fire and rescue to any alerts.

jswck

I've always wanted to use one of those.

kcamsdog1387

Fun fact! Most of those boxes still rely on Morse code over essentially telegraph wiring!

Auntienursey

Which is why they're still working 👍

jswck

Phelps badge twelve forty seven!

Clinically-Inane

The *only* state that was actually down was MA, and it’s back up and running fine now Phone alerts were sent in error to some people in NH and Maine but the alerts were referencing MA services, and *nothing was ever down outside of MA*

akmjolnir

I'm getting multiple alerts, sucks to get hacked.

Not_an_ATF_Officer

If you have an iPhone, settings>notifications, scroll to the bottom and turn off public safety alerts. That’ll make the constant reminders that 911 is offline stop.

Classic-Historian458

People who downvoted you must have sticks up their asses lol

Not_an_ATF_Officer

Pretty typical on this sub. I’m surprised it was only a few. Haha

penster1

I was with two iPhone users that didn't get any alerts at all

Not_an_ATF_Officer

I was at work in Mass and they were non stop. I finally went around to show the other iPhone users I saw (they were the ones clearing the alley every 30 minutes or so), telling them how to make it stop.

sonic_silence

This is why the alerts are ineffective. Constant noise about imaginary emergencies causes people to ignore or disable them

sonic_silence

Did this years ago to stop getting constant amber alerts from Texas

Not_an_ATF_Officer

I had to turn off Amber alerts in California. They were using them to enforce family court stuff, rather than actual kidnappings. It was a total nuisance.

akmjolnir

Thanks for the PSA.

Not_an_ATF_Officer

Glad to help

Agile_Skink

Let's get lootin'

quaffee

Welcome to Costco, I love you

stewie_glick

I got my law degree there!

prestigious_delay_7

Do we have time for a latte?

Agile_Skink

I love you too.

Wasteland_Mystic

I got a bad feeling about this

MobySick

Relax. In a few hours you will forget you had a bad “feeling” until the next unexpected event where you’re going to then decide you’re clairvoyant.

henry2630

services restored. you can take your thumb out of your mouth now

Wasteland_Mystic

Don’t insult me when the reference went over your head.

paraplegic_T_Rex

Impact is only in MA. I assume a ton of NH people are getting the alert because we have MA area codes or share family plans with people in MA.

Automatic-Injury-302

It actually goes by cell towers, so regardless of where your number or plan is from, you should get an alert covering where you are and not where you live. That being said, it looks like there was some glitch here that sent an alert across state lines accidentally.

Expensive_Permit_265

Maine too

Many-Day8308

Maine sent another alert to disregard, we are fine

SpankinAnk

Yes- I received the same alerts. Not understanding why, because I live in Maryland

ShubRankism

MD and ME are basically the same, right? Must be the same state.

SpankinAnk

No, MD is Maryland. ME is Maine. I received notification about MA and ME, but I live in MD!

ShubRankism

That's the joke, yeah.

Extracrispybuttchks

The symphony of alerts from phones down the office hallways was amusing

TakeshiEbisawa

All of a sudden the entire state is pro gun.

Bree9ine9

For real

eyehunt2

Now I have brain damage from the alert siren….so much for noise canceling headphones

z-eldapin

Just got it in Maine as well

vaderfan1

Just got a statewide alert in PA

SewRuby

What kind of phones do you all have that are getting statewide alerts. Husband and I are android users and did not recieve these alerts.

PrionFriend

The greenies have been deemed expendable

SewRuby

🤣 🤣 🤣 Well, sucks to be us.

Winter_cat_999392

iPhone on T-Mobile

Alex_2259

I got it on both an Android and iPhone. They're configurable I think

Dramatic_Ad_5660

They were also down in RI

Creative-Dust5701

Prepare to repel boarders!

Open-Industry-8396

We are all gonna die!! It's worse than a snowstorm panic. Milk and bread. As I used to tell my soldiers, " relax, did you think you'd live forever? Suck it up and drive on soldier.

Flat-Development-906

GAMMMEEEE OFFFFFF 9-1-1 is back online friends

lorlorlor666

Also down in Maine. This is really concerning??? I’m concerned

SheSellsSeaShells967

The Maine alert was a mistake. We’re all good.

lorlorlor666

Thank you

Searchlights

So hit me up if you need anything

Southern-Hearing8904

All back up

Hamanan

Didn’t stop me from doing nonsense 911 calls as per usual

torch9t9

I got another notification alarm every time I got handed off to another cell tower and after about four of these I got a robocall from a town. OK I GET IT

PoorInCT

Write a jira ticket

procrastinatorsuprem

It's down in NH too.

joey0live

Sigh. So I heard three other times today.

N-economicallyViable

911 is just there to document the aftermath anyway, except in domestic disputes, in those cases they are there to film the funny video.

mkultra0008

Everyone gets the emergency alerts on their phone, wasn't just you.

asphynctersayswhat

the citizens are now demanding there be more legislation banning 911 from going down. Also, they want to change it from 911 to something less-triggering. they approved a 10% increase on property tax even though they make fun of ours . . .

CptContext

Gee thank you so much if it wasn’t for this notification I probably wouldn’t have remembered the last 8 I’ve gotten today

AussieJeffProbst

annnnnd its gone in NH

musashisamurai

I've gotten an alert in NH.

RandallFlagg1

Looks like an oops. https://preview.redd.it/fid88xutod7d1.png?width=611&format=png&auto=webp&s=c542d89052850896d5662528b1c47d7ec36e962e

Winter_cat_999392

They only put that out on Xitter, not an alert. ME, RI etc sent out alerts.

musashisamurai

Well that's good to hear. Thanks

Antique_Commission42

Massachusetts sucks so fucking much.

PossibleMother

Thank you sai

Parzival_1775

We're getting the alert in NH, but the impact is limited to MA [https://www.wmur.com/article/911-outage-massachusetts-new-hampshire-61824/61160408](https://www.wmur.com/article/911-outage-massachusetts-new-hampshire-61824/61160408)

Ayahuasca-Puke

What does that have to do with the price of tea in New Hampshire?

letshavesax75431

Can someone please explain how every police station in the state goes down at the same time on the same day. Definitely got hacked right? Would They not be separate from one Another. I feel like having an emergency management system. That, if one fails, the entire state fails would be extremely silly, right?

CoffeeHead112

Your call isn't going to a police station, it's going to a 911 operator. You're letting the whole fear mongering thing get to you. Just chillax and they will be back up by end of day.

letshavesax75431

Yes, but there are different 911 operating centers for each police department. So, can you explain that to me?

CoffeeHead112

No there is not. Your call is routed to one of 3 call centers which then route your call's to the various local 911 dispatches. One line of code can take a system down. It might just be a bad update, a hiccup with the backup, human error, who knows. Jumping to cyber terrorism is just panicky and creates fear for no reason. Again, calm yourself and stop spreading your intrusive thoughts to get people riled up for no reason.

letshavesax75431

It's not much of an intrusive thought when Water treatment facilities Across the united states have been hacked. There are also 270 call centers In ma

CoffeeHead112

Again -  All wireless 9-1-1 calls are currently routed to one of 3 Massachusetts State Police communication centers. Then, depending on the location and nature of the call, the caller will be transferred to the local 9-1-1 center for further assistance.  Also if you want to talk water treatment terrorism, we get our water from the quabbin. Over the course of the years I've peed in it several times. Drink up.

phoebe7439

That's old data, there used to be 232 but they consolidated down to 37

alkatori

NH is like that. I believe MA has a statewide system. They rolled out a VOIP system that could be managed remotely. If that goes down then there is nothing to route your calls to operators. I didn't work on the MA system, the other large areas that did things like that would have two geographical locations and two runs to each to avoid a physical problem.

AggravatingPlum4301

We know. Thanks.

Connect_Stay_137

This is r/newhampshire sir

Winter_cat_999392

Gee, not like 100,000 people drive to work in Massachusetts every day, or are there at the moment, or have family, or...

Connect_Stay_137

Commuters = skill issue

Winter_cat_999392

No, that's a pay issue. NH employers think it's 1990. You can only make big bucks in MA in most things, or remote. But that's a subject for a different thread.

Original_Teaching769

Man don’t even waste your time on a troll like this guy

hedoeswhathewants

Ok guy who posts on r/conspiracy

Connect_Stay_137

1 post 2 years ago but k

Irythros

Literally an hour ago.

Jtagz

Well we just got that same alert here in NH
