2018 we had a similar incident in Las Vegas. 4 teens in hoodies rushed a smoke shop and starting grabbing stuff. One started making their way behind the counter when the owner at the far side of the counter started shooting. Whole thing lasted like 3-4 seconds. Owner still got charged and sentenced for murder because the kid flinched and turned away at the sight of the owner with a gun just before the shots were fired.
Prosecution basically argued after hours of being able to replay the security camera, that at the time the kid was shot, he was facing away from the store owner and thus the store owner should have known he was not in any danger. It's pretty insane. The victim had literal fractions of a second to process a handful of masked shapes rushing his store to determine his level of danger while the criminal has the backing of the law when the same few seconds can be replayed for hours in a courtroom. It's like the ultimate game of red-light, green-light weighed in criminals' favor.
The same DA that charged that smoke shop owner is still in office. Though he's up for re-election this year and with crime being the way it is and how fed up people are with the rampant shop lifting on the Strip at night he might opt to not stir shit up with this incident purely for political reasons.

There’s been countless incidents where store owners, security, cashiers attempt fight back and recover merchandise or detain the individuals as allowed by law but then not only do the employees get punished or arrested, the criminal that was injured in the process then sues the victim business and wins thousands or millions of dollars. This has only inspired people to commit crimes knowing that either they come out successful by actually stealing or they come out successful by suing the place after getting caught for some sort of injury. The store owner clearly did not know if they were armed, or will attack if he started to defend his store. Literally anything could have happened there during the present day, and the owner did not take his chances.

2018 we had a similar incident in Las Vegas. 4 teens in hoodies rushed a smoke shop and starting grabbing stuff. One started making their way behind the counter when the owner at the far side of the counter started shooting. Whole thing lasted like 3-4 seconds. Owner still got charged and sentenced for murder because the kid flinched and turned away at the sight of the owner with a gun just before the shots were fired. Prosecution basically argued after hours of being able to replay the security camera, that at the time the kid was shot, he was facing away from the store owner and thus the store owner should have known he was not in any danger. It's pretty insane. The victim had literal fractions of a second to process a handful of masked shapes rushing his store to determine his level of danger while the criminal has the backing of the law when the same few seconds can be replayed for hours in a courtroom. It's like the ultimate game of red-light, green-light weighed in criminals' favor. The same DA that charged that smoke shop owner is still in office. Though he's up for re-election this year and with crime being the way it is and how fed up people are with the rampant shop lifting on the Strip at night he might opt to not stir shit up with this incident purely for political reasons.

Hi there! You must be new to this world. This has happened REPEATEDLY. There’s been countless incidents where store owners, security, cashiers attempt fight back and recover merchandise or detain the individuals as allowed by law but then not only do the employees get punished or arrested, the criminal that was injured in the process then sues the victim business and wins thousands or millions of dollars. This has only inspired people to commit crimes knowing that either they come out successful by actually stealing or they come out successful by suing the place after getting caught for some sort of injury. This also has made stores more hands off and avoid stopping thefts out of a risk of a lawsuit even if the law gives them the right to do so

I hate when people say that there is "no threat" shown by the 2 kids in this video just because it happened already and we see it on video. The store owner clearly did not know if they were armed, or will attack if he started to defend his store. Literally anything could have happened there during the present day, and the owner did not take his chances. In another timeline, the owner threw a punch at the kid stealing his property and the owner was the one who gets stabbed and possibly killed just because how these people are saying "there was no threat". In another another timeline, the 3rd kid, who was not seen until the end of the video, runs in and starts shooting at the owner who was trying to defend his property with his hands only.

Those were very deliberate stabs in very vulnerable locations on the body. Look how he went limp, dude stabbed him at the base of his neck and likely paralyzed him instantly. This is absolutely brutal.
