So every time I moved I was able to afford to wait until day 46 then i'd call and email asking for my deposit back with links to the state law, the community association bylaws, and the city board that took those complaints, kind of a pain to have to wait but i could luckily afford it
And the students won't know that a landlord can't legally keep a deposit for ordinary wear and tear, such as painting and replacing carpets that aren't abnormally damaged.

He actually told them that He would collect one month rent up front plus another month as a deposit. He said he would hold on to the deposit for them but they would receive it in full once the tenants moved out. With a smirky shit eating grin he said. "We don't return deposits"

We had a side job finishing them out sometimes and they turned out really nice! Spray foam and a nice AC and they were really cozy especially if you’re in families back yard or whatever. Went back to do a roof repair once and I swear the old man had improved his mental health just from not being at the nursing home. We even installed a second story on one!

Except this one that is still at $4.29 for some reason. Its not even that far away from other stations. I'm just confused that they're charging 50 cents more per gallon?
It's likely because they did a poor job estimating how much fuel they would sell at that price. The higher volume stations around started getting deliveries at a lower bulk price and adjusted the sale price to reflect the average cost of their bulk purchases. The station with the higher price isn't moving enough fuel to get new bulk deliveries at the lower price, so they're stuck with the choice of of lowering the price to match the others (and selling at a loss) or continuing to sell at 50¢/gal more than the competition until they run through the more expensive bulk delivery.
Makes sense, but when it came to price increase, I bet they raised prices immediately instead of continuing to sell off the delivery at the lower price.
That's entirely possible, but I did remote support for fuel tank level monitors in a past career, and in my experience, there's a lot of independent stations that are penny-wise and pound-foolish. I always wondered why their price was $0.20+ the one on the other side of the highway until I noticed they are just up the one way street from the most popular car dealership in the city. They keep their price up because the porters from the car dealership will drive by to fill up the tanks and they won’t be arsed to drive literally around the block THEY HAVE TO DRIVE THROUGH ANYWAY to get gas a little cheaper. It’s all about business.
It's not that the porters are lazy. They don't decide where a dealership has a fuel contract with. They're just going where the card works, simple as that.

I only ask because some people seem to think premium == better when in reality its just for engines that run at higher compression, and doesn't offer any benefits otherwise. I see a lot of people with standard trim level f150s putting premium in, and I know for a fact that the owner's manual recommends 87.

Price at the pump shot up instantly when Russia invaded Ukraine because the the price of crude went up, but that gas was already produced, so prices should have slowly gone up. Now as it starts to come down they lag behind lowering prices as well all while making record profits each quarter.

I snapped [this](https://i.imgur.com/xYwGz4X.jpg) at the Olympic/Fairfax/S St Vicente intersection on Sunday last weekend. This one is always high but holy crap that’s egregious. I could find it at 5.80/gallon at other spots on Olympic.
We have a couple around here too. I always wondered why their price was $0.20+ the one on the other side of the highway until I noticed they are just up the one way street from the most popular car dealership in the city. They keep their price up because the porters from the car dealership will drive by to fill up the tanks and they won’t be arsed to drive literally around the block THEY HAVE TO DRIVE THROUGH ANYWAY to get gas a little cheaper. It’s all about business.
It's not that the porters are lazy. They don't decide where a dealership has a fuel contract with. They're just going where the card works, simple as that.
That's probably because they bought the gas near that price.
Texas has been below $4 for a couple weeks now. It’s in the low $3 range by me at the moment. I’m glad Biden finally listened to all those stickers and has started fixing gas prices! …./s Edit: Haven’t been out of the house in a couple days so I didn’t know the exact price gas was now, decided to check and the 3 lowest stations near me are at $3.09 right now. Next lowest is $3.17 and $3.19.
Texas is usually going to have some of the cheapest gas in the country just because much of the state is heavy in the oil and gas industry. Whenever I go back the first thing I notice is prices are so much lower.
At least we have that going for us at the moment!

People seem to have forgotten that the stupid stickers started *before* the Russian invasion destabilized global energy markets. Biden had very little to do with it going up, he has a similar role in it going down. It's not zero percent responsibility in either direction, but its way less than 25%. But that has never stopped a politician from claiming victory when it goes down or blaming the party in power when it goes up, and that won't stop now. Given prices are likely to fall further, just naturally as summer ends, I guarantee this will be talked about on the campaign trail, right or wrong.

do you drive a car with a high compression ratio? You may not need premium. I only ask because some people seem to think premium == better when in reality its just for engines that run at higher compression, and doesn't offer any benefits otherwise. I see a lot of people with standard trim level f150s putting premium in, and I know for a fact that the owner's manual recommends 87.
Well my gas tank says premium only so I just put premium. But I will look into it! Just didn’t want to take the chance of messing something up. It’s an SUV Edit: so I just looked it up and it seems your right! Only supras need premium because they use a BMW engine! Anything lower then 87 will knock the engine. Thanks Reddit bud!

Its interesting to me that the war in Ukraine is still going on, Biden hasnt approved any new drilling site (all things O&G companies blamed for high prices) and now the prices are falling and it seems nothing has really changed since before the war in Ukraine yet prices have gone down. Im happy for lower prices but annoyed that it seems as usual O&G was just fucking us to make money and its never going to stop.

The price of crude had been consistently dropping in the last 3 months. It just takes time for it to reflect in the refined gasoline market.
Price at the pump shot up instantly when Russia invaded Ukraine because the the price of crude went up, but that gas was already produced, so prices should have slowly gone up. Now as it starts to come down they lag behind lowering prices as well all while making record profits each quarter.
If Conservatives ignored market factors and blamed Biden when gas was $5, I'm sure they'll give him credit for it dropping over $1 a gallon, right?

CA has the highest gas tax in the country, so gas prices there will always be among the highest in the country
Taxes are only part of the problem. California is also an island in the gasoline infrastructure. We don’t have major pipelines coming in, so everything arrives by ship, and we refine our own gas here as we use a different blend for smog reasons. So you have an isolated market that makes a unique product with a limited capacity, and our prices are fairly decoupled from the rest of the country because of it.
I got it for $3.22 in Central Texas yesterday. If they get down to the $2.80 range I fully expect facebook statuses of people from my podunk hometown in West Texas to switch from "Biden made gas too expensive!" to "Biden is killing the uhl industry!" It's always one of the two when a Democrat is president. They hate both cheap and expensive gas there.
