People took “new world” to literally.

Aujax92

inb4 SAO deep dive MMO comes out

LlahsramTheTitleless

There is a territory owning guild on my server called Laughing Sarcophagus so im thinkin we're basically already there.

RabidJoker816

That is definitely a reference to SAO lmao

shert73

I'm 215 hours in and only level 46. Plenty of content and plenty to do. Still so much of the world to explore and levels to gain. Was nice taking a break from gathering/furnishing to actually do depths and some quests.

lurkeranswering

179 hours here, only 33. Still havn't run amrine for the quest. Just have such a blast fuckin around with whatever I want, whenever I want. Feel no pressure to min/max my time like past mmos.

Fiv3Score

I was in a similar position. I recently just got my azoth staff and completed Amrine at lvl 35. Some lvl 30 guy was complaining that I don’t do enough dps for my level the whole run… guess some people don’t realize not everyone focuses on combat. I apologize if the run was a few minutes slower because of me

exzackly69

How did they know how much dps you were doing?

Fiv3Score

I wish I knew lol. I know i don’t do the best dps since I only have level 25 370 GS equip, but it’s good enough for Amrine

TxFoo11

Guy is just being an ass. Level 45 here and still run amrine couple times a day for for quest xp. Still love showing new guys where all the chests are.

boring_toilet_paper

I'm a lv42 tank and I also do that, I like playing chill and always guide ppl through chests and just chill through it . Since I'm always hanging around Brightwood (mostly for gathering) sometimes I just put my camp near the elite island (where Havelock hangs around) and if I see someone trying to get a way through it, I just go and tag along and provide some tanking.

Markis236

The really MVP hear

Mookhaz

I’m 42 and my gear score is 356, but I pretty much only wear my luck set and haven’t replaced a lot of pieces since the 20s.

globster222

Obviously play how you want but doing the dungs at the required level is the most fun I've had on this game. First run through amrine at level 25 was fucking amazing. Now I'm level 35 and it's just kinda boring. Plus it's a massive power boost once you get the rewards. At your level I feel like you cheated yourself of one of the best parts of the game. The rewards will be worthless to you now. Just an idea. Idk

Johnnystinksreal

I don’t get how? I have 73 hours and am level 34. Tf you do the whole time?

lurkeranswering

"Hmm haven't tried ice gauntlet since beta, looks appealing at this exact moment, think I'll give it a shot. Well now I guess I'm gonna have to switch from dex to int, to the market I go, only 3 pieces are any good. guess ill go farm just enough to make myself shit. Oh wait I have stuff already but its in first light, I'm in Brightwood with almost 0 azoth, guess I'll run, then run back. Get distracted and farm 700 nuts to sell along the way. Make the gear. Go find some lower level mobs to mindlessly kill for an hour or 2 while I watch top gear on the other screen. Not really feeling ice gauntlet after all, think ill go get my old gear again. Wonder what's selling good? Oh yea I should post up those nuts I forgot about after putting them in the storehouse." You can see how just logging on and more or less playing like this everyday can result in very little real exp. I'm getting absolutely nothing accomplished. But I'm enjoying it and am playing solo, no reason to rush anything, so haven't bothered to change.

Sir_ice-nine

Exactly this, plus you dont really get XP playing the trading post. I compare prices between towns, look at my stock to put in buy orders to then just sell for a profit. Plus inventory management. Looking at whats selling so you know what to craft. All that alone running back and forth in the town, from your inventory, to the town board, back to inventory, to the trading post, then to the crafting stations back to your inventory. By the time you do all that the town board has refreshed so you just do it all over again.

DarkSylver302

This all sounds really appealing to me if it weren't for the god awful trade station ui. It's so so bad for checking these sorts of details. I really wish I could export the bulk data and do my own analysis.

elgueromasalto

That list gets even longer when you're flagged for PvP constantly. I like the occasional desperate fights to the death in between iron mining runs.

Ilasiak

I tried PvP in my world, but literally every faction seems to be full of death squads of level 60s that refuse to fight with each other, but are completely willing to pub-stomp any solo player, especially if they are lowlevel.

verified_potato

and then your ping goes 200ms and somehow there’s also a wolf ???? so your armor durability is 0

Equivalent-Aioli-924

This is me lol.

pjtom

And me XD

XxMrCuddlesxX

I have 86 and I’m 45. Some people bank stand. Others like me do like ten quests at a time. Then there’s those like a couple of my friends who are 60 already. I don’t get those guys at all

QuadsterNL

Not enough storage spaceeeeeee

SteveSanders90210

Playing the weight limit game sucks. Numbers need lowering for sure. Other than that, I want to be able to mouse over an item and have the tool-tip tell me how many I have of it and where at.

crazyswazyee93

yeah the storage space is way too low.. and i really dont like that you can only swap between citis if your faction controlls it. it should be that when your faction controlls it, it is free and when its between different factions you pay the fee you pay now when both storage banks are controlled by your faction.

JDOG_UNCHAINED

I'm running in to space problems now and I still need a crap ton more materials for all the crafting leveling I need to do. It's been a major headache

nvmvoidrays

my poor azoth reserve has dwindled when i start transferring items to different towns that better suits the craft, now that i'm into t4/t5 crafting.

TBHN0va

There's no reason to keep it aaaallllllll. But seriously. There's no reason. Craft it or sell it. You're just wasting your time and sanity trying to balance your storage.

Wise-Tree

I sold 1,200 lbs of shit the other day and made $34,000g Then I realized I needed half of it back for town quests and crafting. So now I just scatter my storage all over the map.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MonFrayr

You should get a house there. If you ever need to travel back "home" and the timer is still up, you can instantly bring it up with a tiny bit of azoth which is unaffected by your encumbrance. I work similarly to you except my main crafting area is Everfall and the *most* I have had to pay to cool down my house fast travel was 45 azoth.

MorningaleOntheBayou

Holy moly. I play on a very small server and the market is so quiet, I'm lucky to sell much of anything.

Alise_Randorph

The fuck do you sell, I can barely make any money selling shit

[deleted]

I find selling it to not be feasible with the tier 4 and above crafting mats. They don't sell for anything because of the incredible amount of lower level crafting materials that are needed just to refine the tier 4 and above stuff. I have 2500 starmetal ore, so I need to go farm 10,000 iron ore and thousands of trees for charcoal to turn it into steel just to turn it into starmetal ingots. And don't even get me started on smelting my platinum ore. THe stuff is just way too heavy for the amount of crafting that has to be done and the sheer amount of materials needed.

Real-Deal-Stepper

Handy tip for charcoal: Aged wood sells for dirt, often in the 0.05-0.1 range, meaning with just a couple hundred gold you can mass produce charcoal from it, especially if you have decent smelting for ~10-15% bonus generation. You may find it worthwhile to simply buy this cheap aged wood to burn it down into charcoal. 100 gold instead of 30 minutes of wood farming is worth it for me personally. On my server brightwood is the trading post that has extremely low aged wood prices. Windsward (main trading hub) has it too but it's a bit more expensive (i.e. 0.1 instead of ~0.07)

Penguinbashr

I literally have filled storage full of things I cant craft because of other resources like sandpaper. My backpack holds more than most storage. Storage cards should have beena larger increase, or base storage should have been much higher. I have 2 storage things full of materials that I actively craft with but when I farm 3k wyrdwood and need 8k Greenwood to process it, it doesnt matter how well I balance storage since it cant even hold more than the wyrdwood.

Real-Deal-Stepper

I thought it was a little ridiculous that each storage rank up was only 25 lol. It does kinda stack up obviously but you only really feel it after about ~250 increase. Could definitely have been 35-40 and not be too broken.

[deleted]

[deleted]

Damn. Honestly, you really must have a blast. That many hours, but only 46. I can never really get into the crafting side of things

shert73

I enjoy the gathering/crafting, it's all new, no guides no tips and tricks. Just taking my time, playing the way I want and discovering new things. I work full time, and can't keep this up so I'll be slowing down soon lol.

Invurse5

I feel relieved that someone else out there plays like this.

lukusmloy

I wanted to play like this, but accidentally created the biggest company on our server and now am organising wars every day and keeping discord healthy etc etc. This game is a wild ride.

shert73

Haha, that sounds like it could be super fun...or super stressful!

Mrl33tastic

Depends how much geopolitical drama that server gets into / avoids.

WifiTacos

It ain’t much, but it’s honest work. Crafters for life!

MistarGrimm

Don't worry mate. There are more. I'm in a fairly sweaty guild but nobody has all the answers and that's what I like best. The beginnings are always the golden age of multiplayer games. I liked League of Legends when it was still without meta, I never knew Enigma was a requirement in Diablo 2 when I was young. Figuring out is the fun part.

BboyStatic

It always amazes me that people watch guides or videos on everything. I love discovering things for myself, even if that means I don’t always know how to get the best item from something or somewhere.

Invurse5

Most of these complainers have lost the spirit of gaming.

LooseSeal-

Agreed. It's about point A to point B as absolutely quick as possible. I'm not about telling people how to have fun if that's their thing but this culture of min maxing every second of a video game (especially an MMO) does not make sense to me.

Drovian66

That's what has ruined the classic WoW experience in my opinion.

GoodGuyTaylor

Definitely, man. The community destroyed Classic. You were basically relegated to playing with people that can’t push their 3 buttons in order and die or the “get every world buff and sweat every raid night for speed clears” I’m just playing how I want with New World. Quit mythic raiding right before Nw launched, tired of meta gaming, just enjoying doing a mining run because I want to make some stuff.

ncory32

So much this. As an old school EQ player, and lots of things since, I've enjoyed just getting lost in the "lets wander over this way for some iron" of it all. If I find my bags full of iron or hides, or herbs, or whatever... Who cares! I need all of em. I haven't felt much of that on any recent games

Jclevs11

agreed.

shert73

I agree

_Midnight_Haze_

Run. Click, click, click. Run. Click, click, click. Fast. So, so fast.

OrisaSoFun

Agreed. It takes away from the open world experience and compromises everything good about rpgs. People are just meta slaves at that point.

BboyStatic

That’s a good description of gaming in general. I play games to have fun, not just to follow a cookie cutter load-out and play the way someone else wants. It’s very similar to how you see people play COD or Battlefield games. COD definitely has more of those type of people ( ones that just follow another person’s setup ). I tend to play more FPS games than anything, and I always use the weapons I like playing with, not what someone considers meta. If I didn’t play that way, I wouldn’t get the enjoyment out of games that I do now.

HoodedGreen

You'd be surprised how fast you can knock of those levels if you're focusing on it! That said, there's honestly no reason to rush it. I hit 60 two days ago and I kindof regret not experimenting more with different playstyles, etc which changing things up was easier.

Basko94

Same dude i get side tracked all the time, ending up running around gathering/crafting and forgetting what I was originally doing. I'm level 30 with 105 hours.

darthgaah

That’s exactly the spirit for me. I dont look for ways to power level or anything like that. I just go out there and try to enjoy the New World without a guide.

[deleted]

Haha I feel that. I took a vacation to play while the kids are in school since I usually just wait til night, and it's been a blast. Unfortunately 57-60 is going to take a bit now that I'm back on schedule

wellsproducer

I’m 180+ hours and hit 48 last night, there’s just so much to do, I still love getting on every day

bistrus

This. I'm 240 hours in, lvl 39 but i've been running around doing jackshit and just exploring The game does seems a bit copy paste in certain areas and quest get kinda ripetitive, but otherwise i'm having a blast just running around

TasteeWheat15

220 hours, only level 44. I don’t enjoy crafting, I just get sidetracked easily while trying to level.

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

I have 45 hours (nursing student), and am only level 20. The funny thing is, my main quest is level 9 and I’ve barely did any side quest. Most of my levels have been from gathering + crafting and exploring. I’m really enjoying the game! It’s beautiful!

OnodaTV

I'm currently over 200hrs, but I also realize that I only paid like $40 for a game that I've now spent 200x the amount of time I spent going to watch The Last Airbender. Still having an awesome time, unlike that goddamn piece of trash movie. Still mad about it.

Galrath91

😂😂 That‘s hilarious. But yeah, the time/price ratio for New World is amazing

xCougarX

For a slight moment there I thought you were talking about ATLA and I was about to lose it lmao

CarlStanley88

Lmao so much shade

Airmanoops

Some level 60 actually tried to insult me because I'm only level 36 in a game that came out a week ago 🤔

AdministrativeAd4111

*Laughs in employment.*

Airmanoops

Yeah, I'm jealous he can apparently play 20 hours a day and still afford to be alive some how. My kids require to many resources 🤣

YungChilla

I mean you can play 20 hours a day when you live with your parents and just use them for all your needs

number_e1even

Or when you WFH and your job *really* only requires at most 2 hours of work on a given day, spread across several emails and calls. It's an MMO, you can semi-afk it really easily as long as you don't do dungeons or wars during work hours - but stuff like harvest/mining/logging, crafting and most quests? Not a problem.

YroPro

I'm happy to relate to this so hard haha.

tabasco_pizza

Pls tell me what job does this. Help me

WhuntCore

My job does this, I do IT work for a company with about 200 employees. We're all WFH and I get about 10 tickets a day. And most of it is stuff that can be fixed in 10 minutes so it's not bad. Easy to multi task on New World

tabasco_pizza

Damn. I would love that. I don’t know much about computers and tech though. Sounds amazing. What kind of degree do you get to do that? A degree in IT? Or is could I go a 2 year degree / certification route

WhuntCore

Certificate route for sure. I don't have a degree myself. I mean sure it would help but really all you need to do is get your foot in the door somewhere and learn on the job. Most of it is universal.

iNeedScissorsSixty7

I sell pharmaceutical production equipment. I'll have a few phone meetings a day and maybe 10-20 emails. I manage projects, I'm not cold selling, so as long as I'm on top of my handful of projects at any given time, my time is mine. Very easy to multitask and I often keep the game open on my main screen with email on my 2nd.

tabasco_pizza

Pls tell me what job does this. Help me

number_e1even

Software developer at a small mom and pop non-tech company without any documentation, time keeping, project managers, or quality control.

tabasco_pizza

Whew that sounds nice. Too bad I went for the English degree

number_e1even

No, don't wish for this. It's only so much downtime because it's a career ender of a job. I'll never be able to work in tech again after this. My mind has rotted so much in the 5 years I've been here. I'm going to buy some land up in the mountains, build a tiny cabin and live out my days as a hermit. On the days I do go into the office (3 days a week) I have to fight the urge to drive past the office and just keep driving.

tabasco_pizza

Oh shit! Plot twist. Well, I hope you get that cabin in the woods. Im rooting for you

Kinetic_Symphony

The opinion from someone who honestly has no life, and I think this is one of the few times where saying that is a fair representation of reality and not an exaggeration.

No_Oddjob

Classic 60, those scamps.

throwawaydonaldinho

Just ingore them. These kind of stuff are the only thing going on for these adult childs they think its an achievement.

r2drinks289

Those people who can play 15 hours a day insulting people who has real responsibility

soccerkikz

Yeah the chat is always full of people shitting on others sub60 and saying they don’t know anything because they don’t do the wars. But the wars on my server require you to be 55+.

electricsheepz

*Chat opacity = 0* I haven't seen world chat since the 5 minute mark and I've got 55 hours in game now. It's been nice.

grannygumjobs23

Wars are overhyped anyways. The real fun is the random skirmishes you can get into trying to assault the enemy forts in their zone.

SirSabza

its been two weeks now, but yeah still ridiculous to give you shit about that

GRIZZLY_THEWILD_BEAR

I work from 4pm to 1am and i have 4 to 5 hours a day to play .on the weekends i play for 15 hours. And I've spent 120 hours . And still thinking that what I'm doing is bad for me but playing 300 hours i say that is a little too much.

Spir0rion

Damn your shifts SUCK

GRIZZLY_THEWILD_BEAR

Yeah I'm trying to find another job. Wish me luck

Spir0rion

Fingers crossed!

dether123

Good luck man !

yodatrust

Good luck !

porkychoppins

On the bright side: you get off work at prime node farming hours.

[deleted]

If someone has played that much in how long the game has been out, I don't even think they are getting healthy amounts of sleep, let alone exercise or eating anything that takes longer than 3 minutes to microwave. I mean, it's their life and they're only hurting themselves, but God damn. I've gotten about 60 hours logged so far and I feel like I've played a lot. 200-300 hours and I'd probably be dead from a blood clot or choking on a pizza roll, not to mention being completely burnt out on the game.

Nolds

Nailed it dude. A lot of people here need to get up and move around a little.

Mustaeklok

Haha, as the common 4chan insult goes... "Go touch grass"

GRIZZLY_THEWILD_BEAR

Sometimes it's not an insult .

Grymiss

Same work schedule here. I play about 2hrs before and after work. Depending on the weekend, 10hrs a day. I thought I was doing bad as well. No lifers ruin the game for themselves

Discarded1066

Games trash I spent 40 dollars and only got 300+ hours.

Kramafam

Yep, and then when new content comes, they will finish it all within the first day and complain that they didnt add enough. Seen it with multiple games with multiplayer communities like this. People dont know how to have fun anymore, just rush to max level (most likely using a guide).

-Captain-

> Stop saying there isn’t enough content or the game was released unfinished. I have ~50 hours in the game and am level 25. Enjoying it very much (though took a break from it in the last 3 days). The lack of DIVERSE content is most definite a fair point of criticism that should be pointed out. You don't need hundredths of hours to notice the copy paste with pretty much everything. Does that make it an awful game? Absolutely not. It's great fun, with a fantastic price tag for what it offers. BUT fair and construction feedback should be welcomed. Simply crying and shouting nonsense without being mature about it, isn't appreciated, of course. > People who play the game too much shouldn’t have a voice because they play it “too much.” MMO's generally have long lasting content and do actually cater to grinders and long time players. People should be realistic with what they can expect, but saying the opinion of players with high playcounts don't count is very counterproductive... that's one of the big groups of players MMO's cater towards. > This game is only 2 weeks old and they have been patching and fixing bugs. Let it breath my dudes. Now that I agree with. Too much demanding ("should be fixed/added NOW!"). The game will grow over time, with hopefully great and meaningful content, but it's gonna take a while - and that is okay.

Obelion_

strangely some of the 50+ zones get more unique again, but then they lack the quests. i feel like in many areas the pve parts were just tagged on without much thought, with the hundreds of copy paste villages with zombies in them. its not like the different enemy models arent there per se, they just chose to make you fight only pirates, zombies, ghosts and wildlife for the majority of the leveling process. but yeah spoiler i guess, there are more unique enemies coming you arent stuck forever with zombies and pirates

Kinggold9000

When I got to Brightwood, there is a mine there that is EXACTLY THE SAME as the one in Monarchs. I like this game too, but I had to just say "come on man!"

Failhoew

Steps how to hate new world: 1: Rush optimised Town quests untill 60 2: Elite grind untill semi geared 3: Ignore all professions because you company have fully skilled crafters already 4: Curbstomp the other 2 factions so you own the entire map 5: Complain that there is no end game on reddit 6: ??? 7: Wait untill next MMO release and repeat above steps with minor variation

Aujax92

Isn't this just "How to be a Power Gamer."

Obelion_

bonus points for complaining about "lack of players" because you leveled so fast there is nobody to play with/against

theblockisnthot

I view my “time worth” to be around a 1$ per hour. If I get 40 hours of entertainment for 40$, it’s a good deal in my eyes. I’m sitting at 98hrs in new world. What a deal!

[deleted]

I have a similar mindset. So far, most bang for my buck was 7 days to die. I got it on sale for like 12$ and over the past 5 years played for around 1000 hours.

SoulsOnFire_

Not trying to brag but I have 3.5k hours on Rocket League for €15 and 5k hours on CS. Imagine being able to enjoy other hobbies for that long

r2drinks289

What happens if the game is free? 😳

Nineties

$0 per hour ez

thehateraide

You profit even when you dont have it downloaded.... that's a deal.

Raygar_Vertex

I dont really see a lot of people complaining about the lack of content rather than being unable to experience a large part of endgame, which is LVL65 portals. And also massive frustration from not being able to join your friends' server. Game is great, but these 2 things are a massive problem right now. Everything else can be overlooked to some degree.

UltimateLurkster

And not being able to quest share making questing with friends difficult

TristanSlayBooty

And on top of this. It’s not a subscription based mmo

PlexasAideron

I do what i want you're not my real mom.

ShaitanElnifi

Lol. Get Furnishing to 200 and then tell me there is no content. I call BS

murrkpls

There is such a thing as having too much goddamn time on your hands.

bierbier123

I dont get this style of posts new world is an mmo so ofc u have to expect that people play it non stop. Id go even further and say for the most parts mmos are made to put all the time in u possibly can.

Hanifsefu

And the game definitely does lack in real mmo endgame content. No giant raids. No PvP ladder/arena. The dungeons are great but we need more content soon. The 1 month mark is where a lot of people expect a new endgame feature to be added and it will disappoint if the only offering is the same 50v50 wars we have now. We need small scale PvP and can't even get that organically because the vast majority of people flagged are running in 20-50 man groups just to farm.

loppsided

Sure, some people literally have nothing else to do but play video games.. but they are a small part of the total audience. Especially for a genre of game that typically is around and grows for years. Any MMO is going to have a finite amount of content someone can play before becoming bored. The people playing non-stop are going to experience (or skip) all if it way faster than the average player. So, mmo devs either go through the extra time and expense to launch with enough content to satisfy the extreme players, or they launch with enough content to satisfy the average player. Which do you think they are going to choose?

tigercore69

I have like 50 hours in the game and I'm only level 26. Already, the game is worth how much I paid for it. I don't care if it's not completed, there's still a lot of content already. I'm really enjoying the game.

FapCitus

I am flabbergasted by the amount of copium that is going on in this subreddit. Yes people who have played this game too much have themselves to blame, but released unfinished? Hell yeah it is. It has intense amounts of bugs and unfinished stuff in it. I mean the freaking images for items that you can make have a "PLACEHOLDER" on them. Do you think that's finished or unfinished? Get a grip. Edit: I'll do one too cause what the hell, think people are upset cause people like you are defending the game to the fullest. That's why people get salty, cause even if the devs look at this sub they will mostly look at hundreds of threads when people like yourself are perfectly fine with it and see no problems.

Sigurat

Yeah you're gonna change your tune when you realize level 55 and 65 portals are bugged and impossible to do. Some quest chains for legendaries are bugged and impossible to finish. Countless side quests can get bugged and you have to reset them, this is especially painful when its a level 55 quest that sends you all over the world 9 times. Or a dungeon quests that needs a key that takes a a days grind to craft. Animations are bugged, weapon switching is buggy, hitboxes are ethereal, there is a major ice gauntlet exploit that makes you invulnerable in wars, making the entire territory aspect of the game pointless for now. I have 198 hours and im 57, ive been taking my time with the game and took 2 weeks off from work to play. This is on top of the 1500 hours i put into all the alpha tests over the last 4 years. Friend list is bugged, guild message is bugged, multiple skills in weapon trees are bugged or get bugged when you select a combination of perks, which makes many builds useless right now. There is no gamemaster in any server keeping an eye on the problems. And all complaints are falling on deaf ears right now. Server transfers were promised this week and yet... The game is beautiful and parts of the world are genuinely awesome and not copy pasted but there are literally 10 mob varities on a map that takes almost 45 minutes to cross from end to end. This game has potential, we knew that years ago. However, the gripe has always been that the devs are wasting that potential and continue to focus on the wrong things as they have been doing throughout the development cycle. Yes a lot of us have hope that the game will improv because its genuinely fun when it works, despite them ruining a major aspect of it by introducing flagging BUT these issues people are complaining about arent something new. They were present in the last alpha and the beta tests. They were reported countless times and yet the game launched as is despite their delays.

derekgr

Around 100 hours played, lvl 31 by mostly PvP and having an absolute blast

Enaio

I love how there are two different sides of the Reddit currently. One that is full of people who are just attempting to enjoy the game and poke some fun here and there when they see a bug or issue. The second that has an issue with every little thing that stops them from "winning".

Bocmana

Ah yes, the chill out post, only thing missing is "Unpopular opinion:"

Runitari

See if anything I want more to crafting and gathering at this point. As its become my favorite part of the game, and I find myself bored with general questing unless its in the places where I farm my goods. I agree that some "hardcore" gamers seem to have lost the idea of enjoying what they play.

xXHavocHoundXx

The game can be both lacking in content and features while also being worth the $40 price. To say that the game is not missing some features expected of almost all modern MMOs is just an absurd way to look at the game. One of the most inexcusable missing features is swimming. They clearly want you to go in the water considering the breathing mechanic, chests in the first expedition, and your ability to cross rivers. And yes, there should be more content. The amount of reused weapon models is absurd and lazy. I had the same looking musket from lvl 1 to lvl 25. Almost all armors look generic or boring until around lvl 50, and again, almost always have the same models. And NO, changing the stats and name of a weapon/armor with the same model is not more content, but reused assets. Also, there is a lack of weapons using intelligence or focus. All that being said, they will definitely add content in the future. But as it stands now, a reasonable argument can be made about the lack of content.

Mindspiked

"Stop saying there isn’t enough content or the game was released unfinished." But it's true. They had enough time to release a half way polished game. But they chose to copy / paste every village, town, quest. End game is no different than the rest of the levels. The world pvp is dead, the wars happen like once a day. I mean it's a fun game for $40, but there's too much copium on this sub from people that haven't played MMO's before. It's essentially a farming simulator.

CoyotaDex

oh jesus i just used the /played command and i have 144 hours ingame :| still lvl 54 tho, doing all quest i was able to and now focusing on mining and choping

Particular-Ad-5101

I think people need to learn the difference between no content and no content they are interested in. New world certainly has flaws and I think it's fair to call them out on it in specific detail. But vague assertions doesn't help anyone.

frodobaggins91

I have 150 hours gathering. Stopped doing main quest after I got my Azoth staff, this games a blast, all I do is craft, these people make me laugh, big neck like baby giraffe.

MaineDutch

I just hit 60 at 160 hrs and feel like the world is my oyster. So much content. Will update when I max all weapon skills.(;

idredd

Re "there isn't enough content" welcome to MMOs, we've got the worst player base in gaming.

trimix4work

"If watching numbers increase makes your brain release chemicals new world is the game for you" - best steam review I have ever seen on a game

FreeLookMode

Or don't, I mean play how you want but don't be surprised when you feel done quicker than others.

burgerfix

I played for 25 hours and got to level 25. Got fed up with the beautiful but shallow world.

jeffmccord

People just complain to complain. They have zero life (clearly).

Heybarbaruiva

> People who play the game too much shouldn’t have a voice What a shit take.

th3BlackAngel

Do people really not understand that this game is meant to play around player interactions and not PvE? The game would honestly be much better if PvP flagging was not a thing and open world PvP was always on, because you would then have people contesting over ore nodes, mob spawns, farming spots, etc, which is the whole point of a game like new world. Obviously you'd need a system of balancing in place so higher level people couldn't just farm lower levels, but that's balancing.

Mukamole

I personally do not like pvp all that much, and choose to put it off until I’m level 60 or later that that. Locking it to pvp would likely mean I wouldn’t get to experience this game at all, and I have had a lot of fun this far. My point is, it’s highly subjective, so saying ”do people not understand…?” Is straight up not true, the game is what you want to make it. To me, the game very much has pve as a central theme, the player interaction is merely a welcome addition. Having dedicated pvp-only servers could perhaps be the answer.

yepper06

I think it originally was this way too if im not mistaken but it was too easy to grief and be toxic.

Trade-Prince

god this sub is doggyshit

[deleted]

This argument doesn't work though, does it? How about the people who have thousands of hours in beta? You could argue that "Well, they have thousands of hours in beta, so surely the game has enough content" but aren't they the ones who are most qualified to tell us whether it does or not? Because, well, many of those agree the game is very barebones. Fun, but barebones.

NissanGT77

Why are you trying to control other peoples’ time and activity? Keep to yourself and let other people do what they want. And for the record, this game 100% is unfinished.

Dagox_PR

You can clearly see the game is unfinished after 5 hours playing… Thats a fact. The UI is awful, there’s not even swimming animations, the main story quest got clearly shortened out in order to rush release, you do 3 missions and it tells u to come back in 10 more lvls LOL wtf is that… The war system is unappealing at best… The guild management doesn’t even look like it was planed… The auction house is one of the worst in mmo history… There are a ton more examples… HOWEVER…. That isn’t a bad thing… its actually expected… and im sure they will figure it out. In the mean time… ill play something else. Easy fix!

LiucK

Amen, people should stop pushing excuses such as "oh game has been out for xxx days chill all..game has been in development for 6 years and got postponed 4 times...if this is the result Id be concerned about what comes next...weapon swap which is the core of the game when it comes to both pve and pvp is so clunky and tbh this feels more like a beta than anything but ofc it MIGHT improve over time

Aujax92

That's just the state of game development these days, no one releases a finished product.

[deleted]

If you plan on calling your game a live service, “finished” isn’t even a relevant way to describe much of anything

Thechanman707

Agreed. I'm really sick of the idea that someone who no life's a game doesn't get to have an opinion on the game. I say this as a level 60 who overall likes the game, I just think they are going to need some more attractions when the rest of the players get here. Hell, you can't even do the level 60 game mode because it's locked because of bugs.

CraftyScotsman

I got the 160 hour achievement 2 days ago lol, currently level 51. I do play whilst I WFH on 10 hour shifts though so a lot of idle / semi afk gameplay.

GGxMode

How is this marked as "Guide" and not a shitpost?

[deleted]

Nobody is out of content. The end game legendary crafting path for top guilds is just getting started.

GamnlingSabre

I fail to see how the total playing time of some people equals it is okay to ship a game with bugs that were there in closed and open beta. With systems like open world pvp, wars and invasions that are undercooked and not fully fleshed out. I knew these problems existed and I take the game for what it is and if there was a better alternative I would not have picked it up. If this game would be an early access version no one would really care about its issues. But at the moment it is advertised a fully done game. Having a game that has repetitive feedback loops that make you spend 200 hours might be a finished game by mobile gaming standards but mmos that currently exist have set higher bars. The fact that new world just released is no justification to repeat mistakes that have been made by mmos nearly 20 years ago. The only reason you would be convinced that you have to release this game is to fit a schedule. That's it. Probably another classic example of the upper management making decisions despite warnings of the dev team.

CrabFrys

285 hrs in.. lv49.. however my fishing just got to 200 last night, working on my jewelry it’s lv110 as of last night.. I come from black desert online.. where I was a gathering main.. I did open ocean content on my boat that’s one thing I wish this game had.. ocean content.. I love this game it’s fun, I’m a pure int fire mage. Only 50 in DEX for the crit % bonus.. other then that everything else is 5 😅😂😅

Pimp_my_Reich33

160 hours put into the game, thats like almost half... omg...

[deleted]

I’ve got 180 hours. The game was 40 dollars - I’ve gotten my money’s worth three times over. If it shut down tomorrow I’d be sad but wouldn’t even expect a refund with how much fun I’ve had the last few weeks.

mcknightrider

I've played the Game exactly 100 hours. I haven't been to any of the lvl. 24-35 zones yet, I'm lvl 40. I've literally not seen over half the Game. So far I'm getting plenty out of the game. So many people rushed to 60... and for what?

Havain

I mean if you put in 300 hours and still manage to cry about content, the problem clearly isn't the game

kaboom987

Im like 46 hours in and level 23. There's PLENTY of content lol

TAINTALIZERx

Salty nerds in the thread because they rush 60 like their little streamers. Claim no content yet they leave pvp off. Then they accept the opinions of others like they're sheep. Oh shroud said no content so there must be no content.

Pandle94

Yeah I know exactly the type of people you’re talking to. I might lose a friend to this game. He took 2 weeks off work and hit 200 hours on the 11th day. Then he started a fight in our discord server cuz he was “the only one putting in the effort” he started talking down to people for not being his level. He even said having a full time job wasn’t an excuse to not be level 40. He really went crazy

vapist77

I find it insane that some people have 200+ playtime on a game which has been out a total of 384 hours. They must play all day every day apart from sleeping.

mofasaa007

Pumping 200+ hours in a game that is available for 384 hours and calling it unfinished is quite delusional.

Morbo_Doooooom

You know on a side note, like that's gotta be unhealthy as shit, 1 for personal mental health and two your enjoyment of the game. perhaps games aren't special anymore cause so many people play it literal death thus making bugs, metas, exploits all the more common. I love gaming but man like I work and do shit on the weekends and spend time with the lady.

Steve_Bread

Holy shit at 300 hours they are playing from the minute they wake up to the minute they go to sleep while averaging a little less than 5 and a half hours of sleep per night. That is not normal by any means, honestly kinda unhealthy.

[deleted]

i swear some people do nothing all day, they just play the fucking game, don't these people have work to do?

Krogdolyte

140 hours in and I am still completely in love with this game. I'm a hard-core PvP and adventure guy and nothing beats the thrill of never going unflagged, and camping in the woods in a covenant dominated server as a Syndi. I've had running battles I've narrowly won, triumphant barely-there defeats and been squashed like a bug by a roving horde of 8 rauders. Every moment I feel like a couerer de bois fur trapper with my musket and spear or musket and rapier in a hostile but beautiful land, fighting for survival and thriving. I've commanded siege defenses, been a part of roving PVP gangs, and walked only about half of the world, and i'm nearly 60. If I can say anything about people complaining about the game and burning out, it's that I pity they can only do the best leveling/gearing strat because they've been trained by so many previous MMOs. I am in love with this world.

globster222

On my server there is a guy who's been banned for a total of 5 days, and he's still level 56. Like bro, go outside

iReddat420

Who are all these people that can just no life tho game? COVID really shot up unemployment damn.

MastarQueef

I have probably ~120 hours on my account, I’m level 56 so fairly deep into the game but I basically hit 30 in the first day or two so I could play in emptier regions when things were crazy busy at launch. I spent my whole time online today getting 300 con logging bonus gear to hit 200 logging while also farming the 48k green wood I need to get engineering to 150. There is such a stupidly large amount of the game I haven’t experienced yet, those who are complaining have probably barely touched the crafting systems or been power levelled by guilds for efficiency and just done a couple of each dungeon and some portal/elite farms.

probablyrick

I think if you have over 100 hours here you probably need to calm it down and take more breaks... I have 31 hours over the past 2 weeks and I feel like the rest of my life is slipping a little lol

bjlight1988

I just want to hear about some kind of organized endgame PVE coming down the pipe before I commit much more time to NW. There's a lot to do, but it's all copy pasted. Open chests here. Kill mobs here. Big beautiful world filled with nothing of interest to do once you realize that's the whole loop. Only other thing to do is basically play runescape 3D or get involved in PVP which is monopolized by a few companies on my server.

[deleted]

Agreed These are not the droids they are looking for.

khaingo

I agree people need to chill out. I dont agree that they shouldnt have a voice. People that play more know more. So they'll have better input. Does it mean they should say there isnt enough content? No they objectively went through it in 2 months worth of work hours in 2 weeks. Does it mean they have valuable input on game design yes they know more now.

Apathyforempathy

I have over 200 hours in the game and it has plenty to do. People complaining about lack of content due to the limits of their own imagination and/or self imposed restrictions against some aspects of game play are the people who bring negativity to the gaming scene. Fuck off if you push for more because you’ve reached the end of what you were after. The game is made for more than that with many other players to consider. I still think it is great but I am enjoying all aspects of crafting, PVE, making friends, and PvP (when the controlling factions allow fair access to wars maybe I’ll see that too). There is plenty to do and strive for but most people don’t even realize what an MMO is all about. They want to be spoon fed their chosen dessert or nothing is good enough.

MikeMF

This game is dope. I’m loving it. 165 hrs lvl 39

HsHaZard

I don't understand the point to rush to the level cap in games like this. It's so moronic to me. Take your time and enjoy the Damn game. I'm at 46 hours and am lvl 27. Loving the game. No rush to Endgame at all.

KR0G0THx

Time spent in the game has nothing to do with the game being released unfinished, that’s just a fact. Literally nobody can argue that, and if they try…. Go try to swim in a pond lol.

skilledfool599

Price best part of this game

avelleo

I have 330+ hours and I'll say its got content, but needs more organic content very soon.

Ackilles

Put 200 hours is casual. Plenty of content even once you are at max for weeks.

Mattrad7

As someone with 200+ hours in, I still have a lot to do.

Dr_ET

As one of those people who hit 60 in the first week, I don't disagree. I have over 200 hours. I will say though that the main things I do, and stand by complaining about, is the blatantly broken endgame loop with T5 portals being literally broken, undo-able, causing a major bottleneck and inability to do late game expedition key crafting. So, you can argue that the complain there isn't enough content is bs, I agree, plenty of content for the cost. But to say it isn't also very broken and lacking of QoL things is also fair IMO.
