On June 11th 1995, Efren Reyes was in a race to 13 with Earl Strickland. With the two tied at 12-12 (or "hill hill" for those who prefer the pool lingo), Reyes made one of the most amazing shots of all time. Earl is even seen congratulating Efren before the match officially ends (as seen in the video)
That was probably one of the best matches ever played, and definitely probably the top match that's been televised.
The real kicker is that he was playing safe and accidentally put a ball in the pocket, so he essentially snookered himself and THEN he made the best shot in history.
Came to the comments to confirm, that is Earl Strickland. He's such a strange fella, super competitive but I have seen him concede more matches (that he was certainly going to lose) than anyone else I can think of. Gave some interesting interviews, also.

This man knows the match. Thank you. And you are absolutely right, so impressive.
"Definitely probably" lol
Yeah, bad grammar, sue me. In my opinion, it is the best televised matches... But you know what they say about opinions.
I’m a simple man. I see Efren Reyes I upvote
Until now, Efren is still Efren. You can see him at local pool joints playing, he’s still the same humble man we know.
Not a hard shot for him
I've done that a ton of times throughout my life...........just not on purpose... and it's usually my opponents ball that sinks.....
..........................
And he remained humble.
They need to make a movie out of this national treasure!
The amount of times Joe Rogan mentions this man is the only reason I know of him.
Can't believe people think this nobody did that on purpose. Just kidding. Iconic shot from the goat. Loved watching pool on ESPN2 back in the day.
Legend

Have you guys ever watched those animal documentaries on television? Ever seen the one about lions?

I know that the game was tied and that this is a championship, but if that was me, i probably would have given him the game after that shot.
That was Amazing. No wonder he’s a legend
