Goes to show that the trenches are where games are won - we’ve kept an elite O-line and we are back now that we shaped up the D line (who still have SB winning veterans on it playing at a high level)
Eagles have been a pretty solid franchise in the 21st century. They're not always title favorites, but they've consistently contended for the playoffs, even during rebuilding seasons. Chip Kelly was rock bottom for the Eagles and they were still a .500 team with him. It definitely helps that the NFC East is a shitshow sometimes, but the Eagles front office deserves some credit for being willing to take risks and make aggressive decisions regarding players and coaches.
Lol I met him at Main Event one time and no one knew who he was. He was just chilling drinking mixed drinks and playing arcade games. He’s a cool dude you guys got a good one.
The casual brotherly shit talking each other leading up like they were kids again, but then who would they parents cheer for. Who gets mom, who gets dad
People act like the Cowboys fans would be less toxic just because their team sucks and couldn’t move on.
Nah, they hate the Eagles more than they like the Cowboys
You guys are such an insanely good swuad you had to lose literally all of your QBs to be stopped. Sucks that it happened but you should
hold your head high, you will be back in the NFCC very soon - you guys stand with us as the class of the NFC
Yeah like, that game was close for almost half the time, and they lost their QB 3 plays in. If any other QB is in there I don't think we get the luxury of pounding the run game home
It flew under the radar with all that happend but the eagles d line completely manhandled the niners o line today
Even when this game was still competitive every pass play there was a different guy getting immediately in the backfield. I fear for whoever emerges from the AFC
Yeah I get that I am obviously biased and that the refs didn't call the best game, the Eagles were ABSOLUTELY better in the trenches and that's how you win. An absolutely vicious pass rush that also included trying to block an 18 sack EDGE with a backup TE and then leaving him unblocked the next drive was the story of the game more than anything else.
I appreciate that, seems like every other comment in this thread is saying we had it easy. I mean damn, we're going to the super bowl. Just a little bit of credit would be nice.
If you look at the eagles schedule - no, they didn’t play the AFC powerhouses this year, but they fucked up almost every team they did play and did it in the best division in the league.
Their offensive and defensive lines are absolutely dominant.
Their weapons are excellent
Their secondary is stacked
I have no idea why people continue to doubt this team. Outscoring your opponents 69-14 in 2 playoff games doesn’t just happen
Well, you certainly had it easy, but that doesn’t mean your team isn’t insanely stacked and seemingly well coached.
But people love to hate Philly teams, myself included, so don’t take it personally.
Just a friendly reminder that I'm sure everyone knows. We would have gotten our shit kicked in by the eagles had we faced them. So I'm glad we lost to the niners
I'm gonna admit something here..We would've had a tougher time against you guys than the niners..hate to say it, but as inconsistent as Dak is..he has the NFC east's numbers.
As a non-soccer fan, Im still surprised by how many fans the Union pulled in from this city. Philly just loves sports. Or hates sports, I really can't tell anymore.
I'm pretty fuckin miserable. Just once I'd like to lose because they were the better team.
Two years in a row we lose a conference title because our starting QB is hurt.
I can't stand this shit. I just want a fair chance. 4 fuckin QBs, man. Four. Feel so bad for everyone in our team today.
Philadelphia got a Phillies World Series AND is getting an Eagles Super Bowl in the same year
1980 all over again for the city.
Edit: And yes, the Union making the championship in MLS.
I went to a beer festival in New Zealand wearing a Flyers jersey over the weekend. The one fit who yelled Gritty would’ve been my highlight if it weren’t for the one got who yelled Ice Hockey.
To think that this Eagles fan had the audacity to comment this a month ago:
> I'm still pissed that he (Josh McDaniels) backed out of that Colts deal at the last minute in 2018. Cost us Frank Reich. Plus, it's apparent at this point that he (Nick Sirianni) doesn't have what it takes to be a good head coach.
Eagles fans, I’m sure you don’t need to hear this but here it is anyway: enjoy the ride! Forget the haters. Your team is legit in every facet of the game; for my money even better than the one who won five years ago.
Today was a Bummer for the 49ers and their fans, but congrats to the eagles. Both earned it all year and would’ve been a worthy representative of the nfc.
wyr lose against the Eagles in the NFCCG 38-7 bc your top 1 defense lays an egg against a backup QB or lose 31-7 in the NFCCG against the Eagles because you ran out of QB’s
I'd definitely choose door #1 and it's not even close. I'd rather have my team get their asses kicked and know that they were beat on talent than feel left wondering what could've been. Not to take anything away from the Eagles today- you can only play the team that takes the field.
I never understood this take. They got the easier playoff road by getting the number 1 seed in one of the best divisions in football. How is that easy?
Jalen Hurts is 7-0 this season against playoff teams with a combined 218 to 97 score (31.1 - 13.8 ppg) and people are acting like he hasn't beat anybody. Like sorry we couldn't go into a time machine and beat the '72 Dolphins offense combined with the '85 Bears defense.
Injuries are part of the game and all, but sucks that we really didn’t get to see this game play out that much.
Looked like it was going to be a great one until Purdy got hurt, then everything went to shit quick.
Everyone please stop saying the Eagles stand no chance in two weeks and that this was a fluke and due to the refs.
It really hurts everyone in Philadelphia’s feelings and will probably make feel like they have no chance in the Super Bowl. Definitely won’t motivate them
Watching that game felt like getting kicked in the dick over and over and over again. Everything that could've gone wrong, did. Just a horrible disaster of a game.
But even without the injuries, I don't know if we beat the Eagles. They've been great all year, and even with the argument that it's the easiest path to a superbowl ever being very legitimate, there is no denying that they've been dominant in all aspects of the game and played great football. They absolutely deserved to win the NFC, been the best team in the conference all year.
It is super impressive that they made it back within five years under a different QB and head coach.
Goes to show that the trenches are where games are won - we’ve kept an elite O-line and we are back now that we shaped up the D line (who still have SB winning veterans on it playing at a high level)
Really goes to show how good that philosophy is. Games are won on the line.
Buy a defense. Train an offense.
Buy a train, defend the offense.
Our owner has learned a thing or two from hanging with Kraft. Lurie's a Boston guy so he's hip to what needs to be done
Eagles have been a pretty solid franchise in the 21st century. They're not always title favorites, but they've consistently contended for the playoffs, even during rebuilding seasons. It’s been a good run under Lurie’s ownership and more recently Roseman’s management. Start of that run was largely due to Reid
Andy laid the golden blueprint for ownership of the Birds to follow and build on. Constructing a team Big Red Style from the trenches out.
Do you know how many Dallas has had in that same time period?
Oh Jesus, keep an eye on the massage parlors.
Hate how the game went for 9ers, but Reddick is a superstar
I for the life of me cannot understand why we didn’t try to keep him
If you guys had him Sam Darnold would have been in the NFC Championship
I think he wanted to come to Philly regardless. Born here and went to college here.
dude is a menace, just always everywhere
The Cardinals playing him out of position for a majority of his career and declining his 5th year option just goes to show how terrible they are.
thank you for the incompetence i guess bird bro
Lol I met him at Main Event one time and no one knew who he was. He was just chilling drinking mixed drinks and playing arcade games. He’s a cool dude you guys got a good one.
Insane how little media attention he got - not even a finalist for DPOTY despite leading the league in sacks
He was second behind Nick Bosa I’m pretty sure.
He should have been a DPOY finalist at the least
Let’s hope the AFCCG is a little more exciting
Like having a QB with the ability to throw.
[удалено]
Each QB shall have 2 working arms
I'd prefer that game with us as the eagles personally
I mostly agree with what you want but I have a small twist on it
[удалено]
Eagles bengals will be the better game, however eagles chiefs will have more hype, Kelce v kelce, Andy Reid vs his old team
Can you imagine the New Heights podcast?
The casual brotherly shit talking each other leading up like they were kids again, but then who would they parents cheer for. Who gets mom, who gets dad
they actually said if it happens they will try to get Mahomes and Hurts on for an episode. Would be sick!
Bengals line in shambles tho. Eagles would go to town on Burrow.
Not so sure with Bengals oline, Chiefs may be a better matchup because of that.
I think eagles match up with either team pretty well.
Hoping Mahomes is healthy
Congrats to the real winners today: those who survived the Game Thread
Can you imagine how much *more* toxic it would have been if it had been Cowboys-Eagles?
Especially if the Eagles lost. Philly would collectively March to the NY office and burn it down for not seeing the punt hit the wire.
Fuck I'd march down from Canada for that.
Barfs at the thought
I thought a cowboys-eagles NFCCG would be the most toxic game thread possible, but apparently r/nfl was locked and loaded anyways
People act like the Cowboys fans would be less toxic just because their team sucks and couldn’t move on. Nah, they hate the Eagles more than they like the Cowboys
It goes both ways.
Got a bit chippy in there
No shit lol.
Congrats to the Eagles. It’s a bummer it had to end like that for us, but you guys are a good team. Excited for next season.
You guys are such an insanely good swuad you had to lose literally all of your QBs to be stopped. Sucks that it happened but you should hold your head high, you will be back in the NFCC very soon - you guys stand with us as the class of the NFC

If it's the Bengals, Burrow is going to eat a ton of turf.
No it was the refs or something
"If Purdy was healthy, Niners would have cruised!!!!" What were the Eagles supposed to do? Put Minshew in to make the matchup more even?
Purdy literally couldn't even survive the first drive he wasn't cruising anywhere lol
He had 5 drop backs pre injury and was sacked on 2/5.
This team is disgustingly loaded on both sides of the ball Gonna be a tough team to beat
I appreciate that, seems like every other comment in this thread is saying we had it easy. I mean damn, we're going to the super bowl. Just a little bit of credit would be nice.

Anyone ever considered that we make it look easy because we’re stacked.
Just a friendly reminder that I'm sure everyone knows. We would have gotten our shit kicked in by the eagles had we faced them. So I'm glad we lost to the niners
Divisional games are always voodoo bro. Last thing in the world I wanted to see was your team for a third go
I'm gonna admit something here..We would've had a tougher time against you guys than the niners..hate to say it, but as inconsistent as Dak is..he has the NFC east's numbers.
Getting downvoted for speaking the truth. Divisional rivals are toughest and Dallas is really good so you’re more than likely right.
He's a crazy QB
MLS CUP, World Series, and Super Bowl in the span of 3 months for Philadelphia damn.....
All those Philly fans don’t care anything past MLS! That’s the real hometown team!
As a non-soccer fan, Im still surprised by how many fans the Union pulled in from this city. Philly just loves sports. Or hates sports, I really can't tell anymore.
We love to be angry and sports gives us a common place to direct our rage.
Sixers looking good too
Bro we all know how the Sixers season ends. Embiid either is playing mostly injured or we lose to Boston.
I’ll be excited for them when we make it past the second round.
If they could lose all 3...
I'm sad for the 9ers, it was just heart shattering
Where's my B bandwagon flair
Agreed and I’m saying this as a Seahawks fan. Brutal
Sorry bud. You had some terrible luck. I hope next year is better for you.
Congratulations Eagles
See you in the Bowl
Kelce-Bowl! Let's get it!
Philadelphia got a Phillies World Series AND is getting an Eagles Super Bowl in the same year 1980 all over again for the city. Edit: And yes, the Union making the championship in MLS.
And the Sixers are the 2 seed rn… Philly sports up
And the Flyers are a top 32 team.
People need to dis Embiid more
Oh they are trying
Sixers have been the best team in basketball since their 0-3 start
I would petition to be unbanned from /r/NBA if the Sixers were in the finals just to shit talk myself into another ban.
Eagles superbowl bound Sixers look hot Flyers Phillies going to the world series on a miracle
The flyers are indeed an nhl team
that’s debatable
Flyers just good enough to miss out on generational talent
Don't worry, somehow he'll end up in Chicago.
I ducking hate this
Gritty. They'll always have Gritty.
Gritty needs to be a universal mascot for Philly.
I went to a beer festival in New Zealand wearing a Flyers jersey over the weekend. The one fit who yelled Gritty would’ve been my highlight if it weren’t for the one got who yelled Ice Hockey.
Flyers top 32 team in the league 😤
Ehhhhhhh I'd take some teams AHL rosters.
i will not stand for this philadelphia union slander
Union also got to the final
To think that this Eagles fan had the audacity to comment this a month ago: > I'm still pissed that he (Josh McDaniels) backed out of that Colts deal at the last minute in 2018. Cost us Frank Reich. Their MLS team got to the cup as well! Fun fact! Philly is the only city which has endured two championship final losses in the same day!
not a very fun fact tbh
Surely their NBA team can't also be doing exceedingly well
Eagles are just disgusting in the trenches. Either team will have its hands full
Congrats bird bros!!
Eagles: the only team to reach a Super Bowl without playing a good team, according to haters.
Massive Ws for the city of Philly and the success of their sports teams recently
Grease up those poles.
Rare respectful vikings fan. 🙌
I would legit take one competitive team rn 😂
The wild are pretty good rn
You’re a good dude, thank you. Despite the weird rivalry our fanbases have I will be happy for y’all when you get your first.
Bro I love it I feel like no other sport has random rivalries like this. Regular season games even have so much hype cause of this
Lmao it ain’t ever gonna happen, not with this GM
GREASE THE POLES
THE GREASE WON'T HOLD SIR
And they almost had to break a sweat to get there lol
Eagles fans, I’m sure you don’t need to hear this but here it is anyway: enjoy the ride! Forget the haters. Your team is legit in every facet of the game; for my money even better than the one who won five years ago.
Thank you homie! The Jets are starting to put it together and I can’t wait to see them become contenders
Today was a Bummer for the 49ers and their fans, but congrats to the eagles. Both earned it all year and would’ve been a worthy representative of the nfc.
Congrats eagles bros
Swear to god the Bears have always felt like our homies.
Now that Alshon is gone, y’all are cool. Plus we both have fanbases not to fuck with (we’re not as crazy as you guys, but still, Chicago is Chicago)
Yeah both cities have a similar energy. Tough blue collar roots, grittier then NYC and LA.
That's gotta be the worst NFC Championship game I've seen since injured Cutler v. Rodgers
wyr lose against the Eagles in the NFCCG 38-7 bc your top 1 defense lays an egg against a backup QB or lose 31-7 in the NFCCG against the Eagles because you ran out of QB’s
Honestly I think I’d choose door # 2

16-1 with hurts. Dominant team
Jalen Hurts going to the Superbowl was definitely not on my Bingo Sheet
honestly me neither but I am *living it up*
But he’s a mere *system quarterback*
Haasan Reddick sends his regards.
Gonna be a nightmare for whoever comes out of the AFC. Their offense is ridiculous
I love hearing the eagles fans sing Fly Eagles Fly
Easiest road to Superbowl in NFL History?
They curb stomped the NFC
Every week I was expecting some team to step up but it never happened.
Yeah turns out when you’re fuckin nuts in the regular season you get a favorable playoff setup, who knew
I’m sure the previous Super Bowl winners with the softest schedule give no fucks when they look down at their rings. Neither will the Eagles.
Tell every other NFC team not to be shit then I guess
I'm fine with that
I’ll take “easiest road to the Super Bowl” over the alternative that the other 15 NFC teams got any day
[удалено]
Stop being classy!
My plan was to root for the niners if we lost. It's easier to lose in the playoffs against the team that wins it all to me
Well good news for y’all, because literally every team we lose to in the playoffs goes on to win the SB lol.
Had to get into this position in the first place
No all those regular season games were easy, and the playoffs are also easy, they must be cuz the Eagles aren’t good, duh
Lmfao right? The copium is FLOWING tonight, Eagles haters are despondent
Big time. I suppose in their minds all the “good teams” got beat by shitty teams, who then got beaten by the Eagles.
We did the hard mode run with the backup, This is like when you run through the game on easy again to experience the other side of the story
That is true.
Honestly a good comparison. You guys tried the game on veteran but it was stressful so you just wanted a run on novice to experience the story
Yeah and he played lights out. BDN is a hero forever but I’ll take a big win. Less stress and less years off my life
All Eagles fans should be fine with that, you got the 1st seed, shit on the Giants, and had no control over Niners injuries.
Lol if the eagles win the narrative is 100% that it’s because mahomes is banged up
Injuries are part of the game and all, but sucks that we really didn’t get to see this game play out that much. Looked like it was going to be a great one until Purdy got hurt, then everything went to shit quick.
"Havent beat a good team yet?"
They beat the Commies who were good but that's it
If you think about it, Taylor Heincke should be the 2022 NFL MVP.
They literally stomped the NFC (mitigating circumstances and all) Curious how they'll play if they're down 10 in the SB.
I would recommend them not being down 10 in the SB.
Jalen needs to get his accuracy back.
Shoulder rehab speedrun needed
Hopefully Steichen was just pulling punches today. Run game took a while to get going but glad they stuck with it.
Hard to say. Games they played with Hurts down 10 this year are few and far between.
Wow made it all the way to the Superbowl without playing a single good team.
In 2 weeks- 'wow won the Superbowl without playing a single good team"
"Eagles only won because Mahomes wasn't 100%."
Why didn't everyone else just win their games wow
Why doesn’t every team go 14-3?!?!
Bird bros 🦅
Everyone please stop saying the Eagles stand no chance in two weeks and that this was a fluke and due to the refs. It really hurts everyone in Philadelphia’s feelings and will probably make feel like they have no chance in the Super Bowl. Definitely won’t motivate them
The refs had no impact to the game. Not having a qb ruined the game for us.
Even if we take away the TDs from the Devonta Smith no-call and the roughing the punter bs, eagles still won by what, 3 scores?
You don't understand, without those calls you would have merely soundly beaten them, not blown them out.
Complete domination by the eagles
Watching that game felt like getting kicked in the dick over and over and over again. Everything that could've gone wrong, did. Just a horrible disaster of a game. But even without the injuries, I don't know if we beat the Eagles. They've been great all year, and even with the argument that it's the easiest path to a superbowl ever being very legitimate, there is no denying that they've been dominant in all aspects of the game and played great football. They absolutely deserved to win the NFC, been the best team in the conference all year.
Congrats and good luck to the Eagles, but we all got robbed of the game we deserved when Purdy got hurt
If the Eagles win the Super Bowl I imagine we'll get the real runback as the Season Opener.
Good luck bengals
9ers fans really watched the bk commercial more than they watched their team score. Oof.
At least we can all agree that Game Thread was entertaining AF with 2 of this sub's most irrational fanbases going at it
I think the Niners fans were pretty rationally upset today. Injuries to key players right at the beginning of the game will do that to anyone
That’s fair, but the officiating wasn’t nearly as bad as that thread would make you believe
It wasn’t terrible, just the standard bad. At least the refs weren’t as bad as the NBA refs have been recently
As a Celtics fan I resent this comment
You’d get a whole mountain of salt from that damn thread!
Poles already greased up
This is incredible.
