Unless the Royals are in a critical ALC battle with the Sox and Twins, and need Harry Truman’s entire carpark in which the Chiefs are lucked out.
Like the Ravens were in 2013 when they played their kickoff game against the Broncos *in Denver* because of the Orioles.
If the Eagles win, they will likely play the 49ers. It could be the Cowboys for TV reasons but they don’t usually do division matchups in the kickoff game. Last time there was a divisional game in the opener was Cowboys-Giants in 2012.
I agree with your thoughts, ~~however Eagles opened against Washington in the 2020 and 2019 seasons. Edit: and 2017 and 2013– wow the NFL just hates Washington don't they? haha~~
Edit: Oh I see what you mean now.
You are right but that was an unusual game because it wasn’t the normal defending super bowl champs, that was for the NFL’s 100th season. The Patriots hosted the Steelers on the Sunday night game that season so I wasn’t really counting that one.
You are right but it wasn’t a normal kickoff game. That was a special game for the NFL’s 100th anniversary. The Patriots hosted the Steelers on a Sunday night that year so that is an asterisk.
Eagles will likely look very different next year. Win or lose. If the eagles win it’s possible you see some guys retire and I’d be sad but happy for them. Also, contracts expire and Jalen has earned his next contract now. We have a nice core of young guys now but we’ll need to rebuild around them. I’m sure Howie Roseman is hatching a plot to fleece another team right now to meet our needs.
Another reason to root for an eagles win
I’m a TTU and eagles fan. There’s a slightly higher chance I can afford the game if it’s not opening the season
It would be perfect. If Purdys rehab goes well and he's also the QB it could be a great way to open the season with a "what could have been" narrative.
I wish they’d make the first 2 games non-conference. With less preseason it’s been sloppy early on and this would minimize it a bit, as a division game week one seems like a bad idea.

...and if the Eagles win?
It wouldn’t happen because the Eagles vs Chiefs game is in Arrowhead next year
Member when the Ravens had to play in Denver for their defending champ season opener and Peyton threw 7 TDs That was such bullshit lol
that was because of the orioles playing a game that day. the mlb schedule is hardly a conflict to the nfl tho
Ah, I enjoyed it.
Unless the Royals are in a critical ALC battle with the Sox and Twins, and need Harry Truman’s entire carpark in which the Chiefs are lucked out. Like the Ravens were in 2013 when they played their kickoff game against the Broncos *in Denver* because of the Orioles.
Chiefs have a home game in Germany next year - I hope the Eagles play them there.
When the Eagles win they will host the Cowboys to raise the banner in front of Jerry.
That would be glorious 😂
Uh, Dallas had a great playoff run in 2022
Which would make the banner raising even better.
Yes, I'm sure he will enjoy it
I know I will
Is there a thing as a rage smile?
We burn down the whole damn country
Lotta grease is gonna be needed for poles around the country
we didn’t even have enough last week and I could barely find any crisco to fry up chicken 2 weeks ago
Niners week 1, the salt will be enough for an infinite amount of soft pretzels

>I could see the using the Giants for the opener No thanks...I don't need to watch you guys raise that banner. Let the Cowboys or Niners do it.
I agree with your thoughts, ~~however Eagles opened against Washington in the 2020 and 2019 seasons. Edit: and 2017 and 2013– wow the NFL just hates Washington don't they? haha~~ Edit: Oh I see what you mean now.
He’s talking about the very first game of the season. Not just by team
Ahh ok I understand that makes much more sense now, thanks.
The Packers hosted the Bears in 2019's opening game.
You are right but that was an unusual game because it wasn’t the normal defending super bowl champs, that was for the NFL’s 100th season. The Patriots hosted the Steelers on the Sunday night game that season so I wasn’t really counting that one.
The Chiefs will take their ball and go home.
America wins
Home vs SF
If the Chiefs win and the Raiders get Tom Brady, we're absolutely getting Chiefs/Raiders Week 1. If Philly wins we're probably getting Cowboys/Eagles.
Doubt it. We haven’t had a divisional matchup in the opener since Giants/Cowboys in 2012. I don’t think that’s coincidental either.
Packers/Bears 2019?
You are right but it wasn’t a normal kickoff game. That was a special game for the NFL’s 100th anniversary. The Patriots hosted the Steelers on a Sunday night that year so that is an asterisk.
Eagles / 49ers would be a fun matchup. Makes sense too!
Nah, we're absolutely getting the Niners/Eagles runback to make up for the NFC Title Game. They'll save Eagles/Cowboys for later.
I could see Bengals at Chief Week 1 if Chiefs win. Or Bills.
Eagles will likely look very different next year. Win or lose. If the eagles win it’s possible you see some guys retire and I’d be sad but happy for them. Broncos: Call me.
Why would the Chiefs have to beat the Eagles for a rematch? You said they are already slated to play one another next year.
It's because the superbowl champ 1st game is always at home and the chiefs are to have home field in that match up
Another reason to root for an eagles win I’m a TTU and eagles fan. There’s a slightly higher chance I can afford the game if it’s not opening the season
As an Eagles fan in the Midwest, I'm just happy that this means they probably aren't going to play our game in Germany next year lol 😅
Man if you live in Wisc it's prime time to rub it in and talk about Freddie Mitchell and his great hands
Eagles will be playing San Fran too, maybe that game would be too gritty and volatile for the NFL's opener though.
It would be perfect. If Purdys rehab goes well and he's also the QB it could be a great way to open the season with a "what could have been" narrative.
I don’t think they’ll want KC to play Buffalo or Cincinnati first game. They’ll want them to play mid to late season.
Maybe, but the NFL usually prefers to do conference championship rematches in week 1, and since the Chiefs are also going to play Cincy next year...
When the Royals won the world series we raised the banner in front of the team we beat to start the season.
The odds of that were insane because the schedule came out in September 2015
I wish they’d make the first 2 games non-conference. With less preseason it’s been sloppy early on and this would minimize it a bit, as a division game week one seems like a bad idea.
>In 2016, the Panthers and Broncos met in a rematch in Super Bowl 50 in Week 1 so there is some precedent to this And that shit was dumb
Rig-a-roni
Have Chiefs been declared winners already by r/nfl or something…..
[удалено]
Just pointing out all the recent headlines in the sub starting with if the Chiefs win…
The NFL opener already gets huge ratings. They very rarely put a Super Bowl rematch on that timeslot.
No, it will be Broncos and Russ part 2.0
What does that have anything to do with this post?
But what if the Chiefs lose?
