Hell Darkness, my old friend.

nope-nope-nope-nop

You guys should get a guy like AJ Brown

More_Advertising_383

Oh you haven’t seen the fresh new downgrade?

nope-nope-nope-nop

If AJ Brown is Lucky Charms, Treylon Burks is Magical Shaped Totems

SyracuseNY22

This actually made me cramp from laughing

[deleted]

That AJ guy is pretty good, huh.

browntownsfinest

Marshmallow Moments

Jeklu

Tbf Burks was hurt most the year and didnt have Tannehill for a lot of games. But yeah he isn’t AJ Brown… Although I am high in Burks going into next season!

siliconsmiley

As a Ravens fan I want to call this post "AJ Brown's most improbable catches."

nope-nope-nope-nop

I’d like to name this piece “Jalen throws the ball in the remote vicinity of well covered elite receivers”

TheDarkWayne

Someone should photoshop Brown in a Titans uniform to see how’d he look

check_my_grammer

[This is the best I could do.](https://imgur.com/a/TQIez2M)

Mercinator-87

It was a treat to go watch him in that San Fran game. Completely took over in the second half and carried the team to a w. I couldn’t believe we had such a killer wideout on the titans, since we never had a true wr1 before. God damn Jrob.

hisroyaldudness

Not bad… not believable… but not bad

sumppumpslump

“I’ve come to Moss on you again” AJ Brown

ChocolateMorsels

I will never forgive this franchise for trading him I was pissed initially but thought I might be overreacting. Nope, I was right.

blacklite911

I think people weren’t reacting enough when the trade was announced. It felt like just a year after supposedly going all in, they went the other direction. He was so much of their passing offense it’s unbelievable. Maybe it’s just their small market but I felt like they had the biggest self inflected wound while just being 1 piece away from a SB run. When i searched for some video analysis on wtf the Titans were doing to their offense, there were none.

rjsheine

These are like all AJ Brown lol

themage78

Could retitle this the 10 most impossible catches by Eagles WR. 2 of those balls are out of bounds, yet somehow still catch them.

Aquaberry_Dollfin

When yall traded him, yall could drafted anybody! Yall could even drafted an AJ brown!

DoubleSealedSoul

Smitty's sideline awareness is on point.

VitaminsPlus

Also, AJ is so fucking good. They're gonna be quite the duo.

Heatinmyharbl

Both of them still under the age of 26 Hurts is 24 I think? It's realllllll nice

FinalMeltdown15

John Robinson should be crucified

NPExplorer

Is there any way we’re able to keep all of them next year? Fuck I love this team

BirdKevin

Those 3 are locked up for next year, smith still on rookie deal AJ signed one coming in and we all know Hurts is getting paid

AssistX

Can't imagine Howie letting Smith walk, he finally hit on a receiver after like 10 drafts. He better not let him walk

BirdKevin

I totally agree, plus he seems like a great locker room presence. He and brown compliment each other so well, so happy to finally have a great WR core

jmplication

Smitty already said he wants to be an Eagle for life too

mnewman19

Easy to say now, we’re a very successful team. We’ll see what happens when the rubber hits the road. Idk if that’s the right metaphor but just insert the correct metaphor

[deleted]

/#8 where he just points at those 2 dudes was so hard

VitaminsPlus

Yeah dude, the way they hit each other and he's still standing is baller.

BaboonHorrorshow

I got giddy watching this. Fuck it - one of them is open down there somewhere.

Saquon

One thing I notice watching this video vs Mahomes is that Mahomes's are a lot of him making the play to give his receivers a chance whereas Hurts is making the throws from clean pockets and putting it in the right place-- but the receivers are making huge plays too Kinda backs up what we know that we have a really good qb and great receivers, where the Chiefs have a GREAT QB and Kelce + some other guys

Longjumping-Arm7939

They went to the SB with basically best buy employees lol You don't need great recievers if you have the best QB in football today... because he will make every receiver that much more valuable.

Saquon

Yep, exactly

Longjumping-Arm7939

Don't get me wrong, Eagles are a great team, and it's gonna be a great game, no doubt. Hurts is a stud that d line are studs it's definitely not gonna be a walk in the park...but to be the best you gotta beat the best and we are getting the best from each conference.

RumHam_Im_Sorry

To be fair you do have the best receiving TE in NFL history. So theres that.

justdaman182

Number 4 is absolutely an insane catch by Brown. You can't bring your eyes and hands up any later than that. Titans DB had no chance. No matter how good the coverage was.

nope-nope-nope-nop

Yea, the last time I was as close to someone as CB was to Brown my wife got pregnant.

Tempest753

Why were you hugging your wife's boyfriend?

nope-nope-nope-nop

He seemed like a nice young man.

flyingcrayons

Came here to say that, as a receiver if you're waiting that long to flash your hands and can make the catch no DB will ever have a shot there was a play another elite WR made earlier in the year (maybe Diggs or Keenan Allen?). over the shoulder catch, waited until the ball was at his helmet to put his hands out. DB didn't even realize the ball was caught

radil

That one is wild. How are they coming up with target separation? Is it where the players feet are on the field? Cause that pass hits the defender in the shoulder pad lol. No way that one is 0.6 yards while the #1 play is 0.5 unless they are looking at where their feet are only.

nope-nope-nope-nop

“Fuck it, one of my 2 elite receivers out there somewhere”

derstherower

Quez in there like "I'm helping!"

nope-nope-nope-nop

He’s just happy to be there

DelcoScum

"Quez, what would you say you do here?" "go fast, straight line, stay out of AJ's way" "atta boy"

nope-nope-nope-nop

I think that’s literally his job description “draw one safety away from our good receivers”

[deleted]

Seems to be doing what Reagor and Arcega-Whiteside couldn't so that's a win.

Nievsy

He also has a habit of doing what they could do with bad turnovers and low effort on some plays

nope-nope-nope-nop

Please don’t remind me of the dark WR years. I’ve successfully repressed the memories of James Thrash, Todd Pinkston, and Freddie Mitchell. I’m working on repressing the years of Reagor, Hightower and JJ

SlayerOfTheMyth

Don't forget the walking corpses of Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson, (when healthy enough to play five snaps a game) and Travis Fulgham after his breakout period ended.

Tommah

it's an honor just to be nominated

[deleted]

“Im fumbling”

Starcast

lmao thank you titans

TheIllusiveGuy

I can see why the Titans made that trade. AJ Brown is AJ Brown, but a WR draft pick could be anyone. It could even be AJ Brown!

nope-nope-nope-nop

And they used that pick to get Great Value brand AJ Brown

LocalSlob

Maybe we can have him in a few years

HotTakesMyToxicTrait

people make this joke a lot but it worked out pretty well for the Vikings

EquatorialDingDong

Just don't bring up when they tried it 15 years earlier with Moss for Williamson. But in all seriousness, this should not be the standard.

NorthernDevil

Fuck Red McCombs But yes it was a total fluke, if you guys take JJ and we get Reagor the trade is viewed as comically bad and we get fucking roasted for it constantly. Utterly dumb luck considering draft position.

nope-nope-nope-nop

Did it though ? They were in the NFCCG with that other guy.

Nanostrip

Yeah but they also had ELITE Case Keenum

bocnj

It absolutely worked out for the Vikings, yes.

check_my_grammer

I guess, but the Vikings still suck.

StevieHandjobs

Once Jefferson is out of his rookie deal. He's not staying in Minnesota.

nope-nope-nope-nop

JJ might get paid 35 mil/year

Starwho

I’m glad Seattle didn’t trade DK just for the sake of picks.

root88

> AJ Brown is AJ Brown, but a WR draft pick could be anyone. It could even be AJ Brown! **plus $100,000,000 in savings.** Does AJ Brown have the same success in Tennessee? If the Titans gave him $100M for him to repeat his previous season of 869 yards and 5 TD's, they would have still looked stupid.

Tbrou16

They were hoping to be as lucky as the Vikings with the Diggs trade that turned into JJ. But that shit *never* happens.

Avon__Fartsdale

Howie pretty much got their GM fired for getting fleeced lol

fathertitojones

We got good picks back for it and don’t have to pay that contract. we didn’t get fleeced, it just wasn’t the right move.

BoingoBongoVader222

Tbh brown would have been totally useless once tannehill got hurt so it probably didn’t really affect your season that much. Burks also has serious potential

More_Advertising_383

Haha *fuck*

belgiumwaffles

One of my friends is a big titans fan so we met up in a bar around Philly to watch the game a few months back. When the bill came I was like I got it, and she said I didn’t have to, I told her it’s the least I can do for giving us AJ Brown. She laughed, then got a real sad face. I feel bad for titans fans.

okay_throwaway_today

J”alien” hurts

AMorder0517

Go to bed Tony.

TheRealSpez

Josh Allen J. Allen Jalen Jalen Hurts “Alien”

enadiz_reccos

Then Regis. Then Reeg. Then Roger. Then Mr... Rogers.

okay_throwaway_today

*Tony Romo intensifies*

Tommah

Jal-El

Saquon

And yes ya heard of this out of this world like E.T Coming across your T.V Extraterrestrial straight from ATL (know what I'm sayin'?)

hewhomustbetamed

Aj brown is just that guy. My brother has been an eagles fan for a better part of a decade now so watching eagles games with him, dudes electric.

trustthepudding

They got two of his TDs from the Pittsburgh game and they are still missing my favorite one where he just absolutely trucks a DB and then gets the easy open pass lol

[deleted]

Wasn't that in the Tennessee game?

trustthepudding

Oh fuck, it was. I'm mixing up my dominating performances from AJ Brown.

dylbertz

He was dropping some absolute dimes in that Pittsburgh game.

MacMac105

On the 2nd one, they cut out one of the best, "fuck it, I'll take the fine" TD celebrations.

young-steve

Pointed at them like they were misbehaving children

DarthReptar666

The Steelers coaching staff must not have realized Aj Brown went to Philly because they clearly didn’t plan for him. He demolished them

theordinarypoobah

I remember the coverage being pretty good by them, it just didn't matter.

DarthReptar666

Witherspoon got clowned on all game haha the one TD in the middle over Fitzpatrick was pretty decent coverage though.

NeonSeal

Witherspoon is so bad, gave up a couple game winners and generally just got burned all season it felt

[deleted]

An average corner against the elite WR1 in the best offense in the NFC? No wonder he got burned, especially when brown had such perfectly thrown passes. Super difficult situation for any corner clearly Spoon isn’t elite but he’s typically worth his weight, don’t slander him that much lol

huttts999

Yup, slightly terrified

theordinarypoobah

Hurts's deep ball has looked poor ever since the injury. Hopefully the two weeks rest gets him back to form.

di11deux

He’s been overthrowing them, which to me is more of a timing issue than a health issue. Probably a product of not pushing it too hard in practice.

Fenris_Maule

It could very much be a health issue actually, he could be using his hips too much to compensate for the weaker shoulder.

NickSwardsonIsFat

I hate when I launch a ball 56 yards instead of 51 yards because I'm favoring my hips.

Lint6

> I hate when I launch a ball 56 yards instead of 51 yards because I'm favoring my hips. The solution is simple. Just put a hand up on your hip then I dip, you dip, we dip

A_Trustworthy_Pear

When you break contain and are in the open field, never forget: "Cotton Candy, Sweet and Low, Lemme see that Tootsie Roll. Shake it to the left, that Tootsie Roll"

Fenris_Maule

I mean dude loves to lift, he definitely has some strong hips.

NickSwardsonIsFat

Just gotta start favoring those strong shoulder hips instead of those strong ass hips

FL14

Overthrowing is a huge symptom of shoulder injuries. Look at Baker Mayfield last year with the Browns

Ewoksintheoutfield

It will be interesting to see what Hurts was diagnosed with. Eagles keeping that info super secret.

huttts999

Likely a moderate to severe grade 2 AC sprain t looking just at his mechanism of injury. Though, there could be other things going on as well and I don’t have an MRI or MSK ultrasound to look at.

TheBigSm0ke

He under threw Smith twice on Sunday so he’s done both.

LocalSlob

I kind of think it was AJ Brown's hamstring that was the issue on the deep ball. He hits Smitty okay

Coach_Carter_on_DVD

If it makes you feel any better I’m slightly terrified of you

huttts999

I can shit talk pretty well but idk why I’m scary, I would be more scared of Mahomes

eynonpower

This is a pretty valid point. That Mahomes kid has potential!

thanif

Why don’t you guys just go get a room? sorry I’m just a little bitter

BaboonHorrorshow

The “Mahomes insane highlight reel” is like 5x longer than this. The fear is mutual.

[deleted]

Idk, I don’t like this fear talk. I really don’t have any fear of KC. I respect them, but I’m very confident in this squad.

BaboonHorrorshow

I get you - I don’t think the Eagles or the Chiefs fear each other. However my football fandom is ruled by anxiety and a certainty that bad things are about to happen to my team lol

QwertyMcShirty

This game is going to come down to the defenses. I think our only shot at beating the Chiefs is somehow getting a lead and then being able to get to Mahomes with 4 guys. Otherwise, I think Mahomes is going to eat our lunch if he can set in a clean pocket and deal strikes.

BoingoBongoVader222

Just like the giants game and the 9ers game the eagles will live and die with their D line. If that d line plays well like they have been and their offense doesn’t do anything catastrophically stupid they are as much of a juggernaut team as I’ve ever seen. They were 14-1 with hurts and half of those wins were blowouts. They are the most talented roster in the league and honestly it’s not close. The chiefs are better at QB and TE, that’s it. If the chiefs win give their coaches a lot of credit.

WubaDubImANub

That QB and TE advantage though is one hell of an advantage

Prestigious-Rock201

No way your an eagles fan saying this lmao

morla74

I don’t think that person has watched the Eagles this season

QwertyMcShirty

“That person” (me) watched our defense play lesser QBs and struggle, but manage to put up enough points to win. Chiefs aren’t going to be an easy out. I expect us to win if the defense plays well and we can move the ball as we have all season. But maybe I don’t have the same green tinted glasses on.

HeronAccording6789

I think that guy legit just expects us to steamroll the Chiefs the same way we did the Giants and the corpse of the 49ers. I'd be happy if it happens, but I don't think it's too outlandish to expect this game to look similar to a lot of the regular season games we won.

HeronAccording6789

I mean what's your blueprint for victory? He isn't saying anything groundbreaking, that's basically what we did the past 20 weeks. Get a lead, control the ball, and force their offense to work around our pass rush/secondary.

Prestigious-Rock201

My man y’all are talking like we are facing them with tyreek hill still on the roster. We are a juggernaut on defense and offense, look what we did to the number one defense. Reddick will be out for Mahomes blood all night

Nujers

Mahomes pantsed the Niners even worse than you guys did though, and they did it without a no-QB handicap nor a Tyreek Hill.

GreasefangEnjoyer

According to 9ers fans their whole defense was out so that game doesn't count. Can't verify it. But all I know is NFL is a week to week league and individual wins from 10 weeks ago during the regular season mean absolutely nothing. By that metric the cowboys are better than both of us because you lost to the colts, and we squeaked out a tight one but the cowboys won by like 30 points.

Loves_Semi-Colons

Sure but it’s still Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes. They’ve got a top of the line O-Line and Mahomes can apparently succeed with no one playing WR not to mention Kelce. At the end of the day I think we’ll win because our defense is way better but to consider it a done deal is silly. Mahomes is an alien.

HeronAccording6789

I didn't mention anything about Tyreek Hill, I'm not even sure where you got that from tbh. All I said is that the other guy basically laid out what we did to win other games this year and you acted like he was speaking French. I don't disagree that Reddick will be after Mahomes, that's why I said the thing about our pass rush... I don't really know what I could say to satisfy you. It seems like you expect it to be a blowout. I'd be thrilled if it turns out that way, but expecting it is crazy. Reid and Mahomes are the best QB/Coach combo in the league by far, that alone gives them a chance in every game they play. Never mind the rest of their roster, which I don't know if you saw, was good enough to get them the number 1 seed.

[deleted]

Eagles fans on /r/nfl are spineless lol I have no fear at all about this game. This team is 16-1 with hurts at QB this year, 24-3 in the last 27 with him lol. I respect the hell out of KC but we just put up 31 points with 38 minutes TOP a d 100% redzone efficiency (4 TDs and 1 FG) against the top defense in football, had like what 125 passing yards and no running back over 50? This is an extremely balanced team, I have no fear, just confidence.

EndritTheSun

KC put 44 points in the number 1 defense as well. 423 passing and 115 rushing yards.

GreasefangEnjoyer

What happened in week 7 doesn't really matter to be fair. Also cannot verify it but all week the 9ers fans were claiming they were missing half their defense for that game. It also doesn't matter how many points we scored against them either. NFL games are decided week to week. It's two good teams playing each other and nobody with a brain will deny that. That's why I'm not sitting here saying we beat the colts and you guys lost. Nothing from the regular season matters at this point.

AssistX

Eagles just put 31 on them without really attempting to throw the ball. We ran it right at their rush defense, over and over and over. Eagles were up 21-7 at the half and the game was over, Chiefs were up 14-13 at the half but had to keep playing.

Prestigious-Rock201

Yea this pandering to the people on this sub is just sad to see

[deleted]

I hate it. “Oh I’m terrified of you guys!” Fuck that, were not afraid of them and they shouldn’t be afraid of us, these are the two best teams in football. No one is afraid of shit lol. Where did people’s competitive spirit go?

richochet12

That competitive spirit and outward bravado is only relevant for the actual players and coaches themselves imo. Being fans just analyzing the game, there's really nothing wrong with being realistic about a matchup beforehand. I'm a Chiefs fan and confident in our chance but I'd be a fool to dismiss the Eagles. These being the top two teams in the league

Ultra_Violet23

Maybe I don’t understand the separation stat, but how are some of those .7 yards, and that one against the Titans .6 yards when the guy covering them is right on top of them? .7 yards is just over 2 feet, and they clearly weren’t two feet away. Can anyone explain it to me?

plants-for-me

Im guessing it was when the ball was thrown not arriving

Ultra_Violet23

Now that I think of it, this data is likely gathered from the sensors in the players shoulder pads. So even the width of the player himself would give 2 ft of separation from the sensors.

puzzical

I was thinking the same thing. Maybe they had the units wrong on some of those. If it was 0.6 ft that would be more believable

Vladimir_Putting

Is it measured at the time of throw or time of catch?

all-against-all

I hope his shoulder is back to 100% for the Super Bowl. He’s been off throwing the ball since he came back.

[deleted]

He seems to mostly suck in cold games but he's fire in not cold games, so i'm guessing he'll be slinging in arizona.

D0ctorHotelMario

Not surprised that we appeared on this list. Yet Matt LaFleur still retains that dipshit Joe Barry despite all of our defensive players hating his fucking guts for running the same defense from the 2008 Lions that made said team one of the worst defensive units in NFL history. Fuck them both.

richochet12

I can't speak the coaches' performance, but appearing on an improbable pass list isn't some indictment lol.

HotSauce2910

If anything, the players were in the right place

BaboonHorrorshow

Jordan Love moved the offense on our pretty stout D though - I’d be encouraged if I were you!

Prestigious-Rock201

Hopefully that shoulder heals up we need this back bad

PM_ME_WHITE_GIRLS_

He over threw Brown a couple of times in the last game. With the 2 weeks until the super bowl, I'm willing to bet we get at least 2 of these with Devonte and AJ.

usa_in_dis_hoe

Was also windy and raining, should be a bit better indoors

tall_asian

AJ Brown is so damn impressive.

GingerSnap1021

Insane highlight reel

SourBerry1425

I know AJ and Devonta make some incredible catches in this reel but a year ago Hurts wouldn’t have even attempted these throws. He’s putting the ball where his receivers can get them and putting trust in them to do the rest. His deep ball has gotten prettier too. Hopefully he can take another massive leap like this one.

Jumbo_Toblerone_

His improvement over last year is astounding, it's impressive how much he improved his pre-snap and accuracy compared to his first 2 years. And that deep ball to AJ Brown against the steelers was insane. He's definitely one of if not the best deep ball passer in the league. I love watching him play.

Kornbrednbizkits

Stop saying nice things about Jalen, at least for the next 2 weeks. It confuses me.

ringetb

We're pretty spoiled in this SB tbh, the top two MVP candidate QBs going against each other? Absolutely nuts, truly the best two teams in the league

Prof-Ponderosa

As a Giants fan I agree. He’s progressed so much since when he eliminated us out of a playoff spot

Lineffective

Arthur Juan Brown

Perryapsis

How is the theoretical completion probability calculated? Is it a defined formula based on the other stats given, or is it a machine learning black box type of thing where nobody really knows how it works?

BiteMeHomie

Don’t know and provides me with very little context lol, eye tests serves me better on how difficult the catches are.

greenrider04

You put it in the super high fidelity simulation called Madden.

BJPM90

I was wondering the same, and some of these percentages actually seem high for being difficult, highlight-level plays. Should I expect this outcome 1/4 times the play is run, or 1/4 times when the exact same conditions (separation, speed, etc) are present?

snowdope

there's a quez clip in this smitty aj highlight reel

ftwin

This is how I know Hurts isnt 100% right now. He was dropping dimes like this all season until the injury. He’s just looked different since.

Illblood

Man. I wish Mahomes and Hurts were both 100% going into.

[deleted]

I genuinely believe Smitty has the best hands in the NFL, I don't have anything to back that up tho

MarekRules

It’s /r/nfl you don’t need evidence to back it up! Smith is Randy Moss’ love child with Jerry Rice

PM_ME_WHITE_GIRLS_

Even when he doesn't, he does! Especially partnered with this 🤜🤛 motion

Diglett3

and his ability to know exactly where the sideline is and get two feet down even in the most ridiculous moments is insane

disingenuousrobot

This a Jalen Hurts highlight reel, or A.J. Brown? I can't tell...

FarrisAT

Titans were fucking braindead giving up Brown. Half these passes would be drops or picks without him.

Borktista

I still don’t know how that last Devonta catch happened let alone him not having a concussion.

schizophrenix_

Fuck you Tennessee

pittybrave

broncos fans all rooting for eagles!! go hurts!

dfreinc

but don't forget. we suck. we don't make plays. gift basket schedule. and the refs bail us out all game every game. 🤣 #1 vs #1. let's go. 🙌

bluggabugbug

Refs are going to have their work cut out for them. /s

Greenmachine98

The ref will be Carl Cheffers, he has an absolute hard on for the Chiefs

Glympse12

That first one really was ridiculous. How Minkah didn’t pic that idk

SpakysAlt

Those wideouts got talent

IndyPoker979

Yeah these are good throws but in most of these, the credit goes to the WRs who are adjusting to the placement.

HostUpLLC

What the fuck were the Titans thinking?

rug1998

I’d love to talk to the person behind this data

nope-nope-nope-nop

.6 yards of separation while the CB and Brown are spooning

PineBarrens89

These are insane

deez00s

Who the hell edited this? Took like 3 hours to get to #7

BrokenArrows95

Throwing to WRs that aren’t open is rewarded when the receivers are good.

montana1991

Number 4 still so crazy

[deleted]

Reason 1 million and 1 why this sub has no idea what y’all are talking about with the draft

JfizzleMshizzle

Idk what's more ridiculous, the eagles receivers just catching everything no matter the coverage or that on anything and 1 the eagles are getting the first down by running the same play 100 times and it working Everytime.

kalidescopetitties

Man imagine deciding not to pay AJ Brown, the fuck were the titans thinking.

[deleted]

Haha imagine having an elite WR like AJ Brown on your team haha.

Renchoo7

What is target separation

livefromphilly

Hope he can heal up and do some more of this in the Super Bowl. You can really tell that shoulder isn't 100%.

Tbrou16

Hey guys, AJ Brown is pretty good. Also, why is Philly entirely constructed with superstar players that other teams couldn’t afford because they’re overpaying for their roster? GM should win executive of the decade for the way he fleeced the league.

clingbat

I think something crazy like 20 of our players are either probowl starters or alternates this year. Or at least they were, going to the Superbowl instead.

leatherbelt18

AJ Brown 100% got that dog in him Hotty Toddy

[deleted]

“So this is what it’s like to have good wideouts”— Lamar Jackson

Jah_Man_Mulcahey

Love this WR duo - Brown just out muscling defenders and Smitty’s body control is insane.
