With the pace he was on he would've had ~1545 yards and likely finished second in the league in rushing behind only Edgerrin James.
Pretty sure most if not all of the troubles offenses are having this season so far comes down to poor OL play. Between underproducing RBs and a marked increase in sacks, can't do shit with the ball if defenders are across the line breaking it up before the play can develop.
There needs to be an OL revolution in the feeder leagues
It’s almost like running backs aren’t valuable anymore and teams shouldn’t pay them. Investing in an O Line will have a much bigger impact on your run game and also doubles as an investment to protect your QB, which then allows for more passes, which helps your receivers, which forces defenses to adjust to that, which further opens up the running game. It’s a massive cycle that all helps the running game without ever having to invest in a running back.
Grab a running back or two in rounds 4-7 every year or two and do running back by committee, cut them when they’re washed and move on. Beyond that, you can franchise tag a back if you think he’s really elite (and you can even tag him twice) or you can sign a veteran back to a 1 year contract (or a deal with one year guaranteed and Monopoly money after that) and evaluate it year by year. On rare exceptions you can take an elite back in the first 3 rounds since they’re still relatively cheap but you need to be careful with those, although that first year option on a FRP can be a nice way to get another cheapish year. Similarly, if you think you have a great running back, give him the Derrick Henry contract where it’s basically just slightly more than what two franchise tags would pay him guaranteed and Monopoly money after that.
Unless he’s going to double as a receiver like Kamara or CMC, he’s not worth having on a non-rookie contract with multiple fully guaranteed years, and even then you need to be careful. It’s just not worth it to pay a running back serious money.
And it isn’t just RBs. Interior linemen get paid less than tackles. Edge rushers get paid more than MLBs. CBs get paid more than safeties. WRs get paid more than TEs. That’s the game.

I was shocked at how poor Jacobs played on Sunday night. He looked slow and tentative and not at all like the guy who balled out last year. In theory he should have had a great game against us. Our Run D had been terrible in week 1 and 2, and Jimmy/Davante were having their way with us.

The only thing that offense is missing is a running game threat that can operate in tandem with Lamar. Gus Edwards is too slow to take advantage of how much the threat of Lamar's running freezes LBs. With Bengals and KC offenses looking dysfunctional, this could be the year Ravens could make a push in the AFC.

Yeah, that's pretty much my thoughts as well. Taylor obviously is better (assuming he's fully healed, which is far from assured from what we know), but the difference between them isn't worth having a potential source of strife in the locker room. You've got a young franchise QB who's looked good aside from his injuries, a new coach who's trying to establish a culture, are 2-1 and looking pretty solid so far, etc. Better just to take whatever assets you can get in return for him at this point, IMO.
After getting Andy Reid intoxicated with various smoked meats, Irsay has managed to trade Taylor for Mahomes, Kelce, 1st-7th rounds in 2024 and Waddle (I'm not sure how that happened but it did)

Most of my buddies are all Bears fans and they spent basically all off-season talking up how Fields was showing progression, how the team wasn't as bad as their record would have you believe, how they had a ton of draft capital from the trade, and how my team was a dumpster fire all while I had to sit there and take it since we *were* (and are still in some ways) a dumpster fire. Then we drafted a QB a few of them spent the entire draft process absolutely DOGGING so I hear about how we still won't have a franchise QB (and then later no star RB) going forward. And all I do is temper expectations, say "yeah, my team is bad, but I expected that. If I see any progress from AR I'll call that a win." Well here we are at week three and they are a fucking laughing stock in so many ways, have a worse record than us, the QB they dragged us for is out performing theirs that was allegedly "progressing" by every conceivable metric, there's a real possibility they lose to a team that just lost by fucking 50 the week before, oh and we actually have a defensive coordinator on staff. So no, I'm not going to take a break. I'm going to rub this shit the fuck in.

He probably wouldn't have done much anyways TBH. His amount of touches was reaching a lot of cliffs. Last two years in Pitt was a combined 742 touches. Then he had 311 touches his first year on the Jets (put up 1250 yards on 4.0 yards per touch), and then never cracked 100 again. Odds are he wasn't gonna hold up that long anyways, probably would've been hurt if he played 2018 and they tried to load 400 touches on him again.
Josh Jacobs only took camp off, and he isn’t looking great.
I was shocked at how poor Jacobs played on Sunday night. He looked slow and tentative and not at all like the guy who balled out last year. In theory he should have had a great game against us. Our Run D had been terrible in week 1 and 2, and Jimmy/Davante were having their way with us.
I don't think Bell regressed for taking a year off. He regressed because Steelers OL was really good and allowed him to be patient and use his vision. While Jets OL sucked.
And, he bet on himself with even more leverage. He was done with his contract and was pissed about being tagged for the second year in a row. Taylor hasn't even gotten to that first franchise tag. If he doesn't want to play this year, he can just be in the same situation next year. With the injuries to RBs as well as Josh Jacobs showing that the time off for a RB is a detriment, I don't think anyone is going to come calling. I also wonder if the locker room even wants to see him at this point. Moss is playing well and unless this dude comes out looking like Walter Peyton, I could see them not wanting to be around a dude that doesn't want to be there.
