Saw a fun fact: The only year in which every team had at least 4 wins was 2003. They were the Chargers, Cardinals, Giants, and Raiders. All 4 teams beat the Vikings, who started 6-0 that year. That's wild

blueholeload

That is a fun fact

Royal_Nails

I did not get any sleep last night. And I was so tired all day yesterday. How does it make any sense to be tired all day but when you get into bed you’re suddenly wide awake and not tired at all?

Vladimir_Putting

Hey r/NFL mods. Can we get a press conference rule like what r/soccer run with? (Rule 11) https://www.reddit.com/r/soccer/wiki/rules#wiki_submission_guidelines Otherwise I can easily see a situation where multiple individual sentences of Harbaugh quotes are going to get their own post. We already have 3 different threads in the Top 10 just today. I know it's the deep off-season, so who cares now. But might be good to get ahead of it.

CarlCaliente

but what if Andy Reid makes a food reference for the 850th time

Vladimir_Putting

I mean, if it all goes in one thread then you know what you are getting by walking in to the Reid buffet.

CarlCaliente

the eclipse is gonna be cool but if I'm honest I'm more excited about folks who normally don't look at weather forecasts to stop misinterpreting weather forecasts

theresabeeonyourhat

A new Neil Breen movie is out. Literally every scene is in front of a green screen, and he has somehow gotten worse at everything. He also has a retrospective to help teach young aspiring filmmakers. Dude is the modern Ed Wood

Stanky_fresh

Sometimes I think r/accidentalally is just a sub for to people spread transphobia under the guise of "look! This person made a mistake in their bigoted tirade!" Like, I get it, it's funny to make fun of idiot bigots, but is it really worth it if you're spreading their hateful message further than it ever would have been normally?

DetroitLionsSBChamps

I have a real problem with reddit lately, because it seems like half of the front page is constantly elevating garbage and freaking out about every dumb thing anyone has ever said on the internet like, look. if Elon or Trump says something stupid, I get mocking it because a lot of people will hear and listen to that sentiment. but posting private text chains or a social media post from someone with 2 subscribers and acting like there is an epidemic of that kind of thinking... just seems asinine. it is just a factory of people being upset. people talk about reddit like it's immune to the normal problems of social media but I see the rage-baiting, rage-algorithm, and moral outrage as content stuff at work here way more than somewhere like Instagram

DickNDiaz

I realized why I haven't seen r/antiwork in a while. It's because it's now r/BoomersBeingFools

Stanky_fresh

I still see Antiwork when I scroll r/popular. It just lost a lot of momentum after that mod did that Fox News interview and repeatedly shot themself in the foot

athrowawayiguesslol

They also brought in a mod that’s notorious for subbing hundreds of subreddits that is very trigger happy with banning people and stickying their own comments to every thread, under the guise of trying to “reduce” over moderation

CarlCaliente

Like stopping net neutrality, and protecting CSS, and protesting API changes and getting Bernie Sanders elected reddit has a lot of ideas but no clue how to organize and effectively change anything

DickNDiaz

I scroll r/popular and don't see it. Not even on r/all. I scroll both the aforementioned subs because of baseball, and March Madness. I don't want to subscribe to most of the subs I get on those feeds. For instance, I subscribed to r/burgers because I saw a post on those feeds. Now I just get hungry.

I just watched Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Would Cameron's dad murder Cameron for destroying his Ferrari, or would he respect his son's concern and reconcile with him?

theresabeeonyourhat

I have a soft spot for Clint Eastwood Westerns, because both my parents were always huge fans, and I put on Hang 'Em High. It's honestly better than I expected.

zzj

Is it better than Unforgiven?

theresabeeonyourhat

Unforgiven is better, but this one is still pretty good, and with a strong plot

I think literally it's something Elon (a 6 year old) drew in...(checks notes)...MS Paint.

ArcadianBlueRogue

It's like a child tried to draw a Delorean

Accomplished-Cat3996

Rich hundred billionaire buys your team. Total class act. Will pay for stadium, treats everyone right, best FO and coaches but has one rule: The offense can only forward pass three times at most per game. A QB killed his entire family, except for his mother whose life was saved by a running back. Can this work? How do you make it work? What sort of roster do you build?

Late_Home7951

Well the ravens are a pretty good team so...

CarlCaliente

all in on oline, both big and mobile guys. Run as a diverse rushing attack as the hypothetical allows. Flexbone, triple option, we're trying all of it. Average 5 ypc but the occasional play that gets blown up kills a drive. Punt 4-5 times, lose to a KC/Buffalo that puts up 48 points with ease. Cry.

SharxSharxSharx

Get the most insane Oline, special teams and defense, obviously.

Accomplished-Cat3996

> the most insane Oline Why get one with you can have 2-3? Think of all the Oline you could draft without having to get WRs? You could have fresh legs through the game or bring in different Olines for different sorts of drives. I think you still have to split out at least one player into the flats though.

tatsumakisenpuukyaku

If the Eagles did this last year they would have won the Superbowl

Accomplished-Cat3996

You spelled Ravens wrong

somethingoriginal17

Sent out an email to about 13 associates (including the COO) and the formatting on the email is all kinds of fucked up after it sent. Can't get the email retracted and corrected until the morning. Don't mind me, just gonna die of embarrassment.

Guiltyjerk

Bro I was gone for 2 weeks from work and my out of office message from last summer was sending instead of the one I typed. What's worse is that on my end it looked like it was the right dates T.T

somethingoriginal17

This will stick with us for a while won't it 😆 😭

varnalama

Lesson learned. Send data in a separate doc (pdf) and just have the body of the email go over the big points. Youre asking for trouble if everything is in an email with so many different devices, screen sizes, and email providers out there. Also pro tip: if ever in doubt send an important email to yourself to double check the formatting.

somethingoriginal17

Thanks and 100% agree. It's embarrassing as hell lol. I sent out a similar email last week with no problems, so I was caught off guard. I reached out to my director to ask for help retracting the email and apparently him and my direct manager have had similar issues recently as well. I sent out a few test emails afterwards to finally get the formatting figured out haha. We have Outlook templates we use for these emails and don't really communicate information through documents attached to emails, though converting to a PDF and attaching to an email seems like a solid idea.

varnalama

Ugh! Totally know your pain. All it takes is for Microsoft to fiddle with the base settings with Outlook and all of a sudden my emails look like a ransom letter. At least your bosses sound like they were understanding.

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

So old flame and I are catching up on the phone. She starts telling me about the guys she's been talking to. I went through pain after we ended and couldn't even hear her speak about other guys without my heart wanting to rip itself into shreds. I'm over her so it's no problem anymore. So she's saying that she's attracted to this dude and then i feel a tug and then a dagger in the heart and yeah maybe I'm not as *over* her enough to endure that stuff just yet, if ever. Maybe the whole "remaining friends" thing is just as stupid as I thought it'd be. But to feel that for someone I wasn't even official with? We never were even boyfriend and girlfriend. We were "talking"... For two fucking months. But man, this one cut deep.

Vladimir_Putting

Remaining friends is absolutely doable. I've done it twice. Once was clean and no drama. The other was messy with lots of difficult lingering emotions that took over a year to fully sort out but still worth it. And these were both after significant relationships. But you also have to know yourself, your boundaries, know how you can communicate, how the other person will communicate. And it might mean there need to be some real "breaks" in there to process and reset a relationship. Like any relationship or friendship, it takes both people to make this work.

BengalFan85

It’s natural man. What ur feeling is normal for us guys to feel. Just remember there are many more out there. Work on yourself in the meantime. Hit the gym, read books, find something to get your mind off it. Generic advice I know, but it truly does help. In a year from now, your feelings of her will be a distant memory

IDKWTFimDoinBruhFR

I appreciate it man. I'm actually in a really good place aside from the relationship. Therapy and I'm happy, great job and my kids are great. Just, these darn lingering emotions lol

Rainbow_Rainbow1

Random question but why do nba games start so late? I mean this from a scheduling perspective too, isn't the time slot bought to start at 7pm?

FlatulentDwarf

*sigh* my stoner co-worker is being a handful today. There's a change that needs to be made that requires both of us. We each did our parts a week ago in our test domain and sent it off for approval. User noted a typo in one of the stoners changes. I shot him a message and let him know about it. He waits an hour then just says "I don't see a task for that." No shit you don't see a task for that, it's a single character change in the task you already closed and marked it complete. Open that task back up, note the change, add the 10 seconds it took you, and say it's done so we can move on. Do you really want me to add into our ticketing system > Please spell "Indirect" correctly Is that really what you want written down on formal documentation? C'mon Son.

theresabeeonyourhat

Damn. Colin Cowherd is wrong a lot, but just came across this YT short that made me do a double take: https://youtube.com/shorts/CxE34CFtTqk?si=YEZaSTWD1Kac6SXu He opened by saying the Bears need to trade down multiple times because the team is bad, and there isn't a Caleb Williams in the draft. If Caleb was the top prospect, they should draft him. Edit: I fucked up with my wording. It was from the year before. The year Caleb is available, he's for drafting him

brotherbock

So I don't want to watch the clip because I'm not a big Cowherd guy, but...he literally said that there's "no Caleb Williams in the draft"?

Stanky_fresh

The clip is from a year ago

Lol, okay that makes sense. I thought he was trying to throw weird shade on Caleb or something. Thanks :)

Stanky_fresh

If I could change one thing about political discourse online (aside from making it free from toxicity) I'd change the way people talk about Republicans in government. I don't mean that in a "treat them with respect" way, I mean that in a "pay closer attention to what's going on" way. It seems to ne that on the internet most people see Republicans like Marjorie Taylor Greene, Lauren Boebert, or Matt Gaetz doing things and just laugh at how stupid they are. But it doesn't seem like many people understand that's the point. These are people hell bent on obstructing and dismantling the federal government. They're not exactly shy about it either. It's easy to laugh at Greene trying oust the Speaker of the House again after the fiasco that followed Gaetz got rid of McCarthy, but when you look at it, we're careening towards a government shutdown and this congress is BY FAR the least productive congress since 1935. They may be stupid, hateful bigots, but they're accomplishing their goals while we all sit around saying "hurr durr MTG am stoopid". I saw a post here earlier about how dumb the Republicans are for trying to rename Dulles airport after Trump. Everyone in congress knows it's going to fail, but they also know it's an election year and their usual hate and bigotry aren't widely popular amongst moderates, so they're doing BS pagentry to rile up their base and will be back to their bullshit as soon as the elections are over. I'm not saying they're all conspiring to be as stupid as possible or anything like that, I'm just saying it seems like there are a lot of people who are playing into their hands by disregarding them as blithering idiots.

brotherbock

Driving up the hatred is key in keeping people divided not only in attitude but in belief. You don't change the mind of the person supporting a rapist for president by screaming at them repeatedly "he's a rapist, are you an idiot!?" That just makes them dig their heels in farther. You change people's minds by *forming relationships* with them. By befriending them. By *listening* to them (not just letting them talk while you get ready to talk). They didn't get to their position by reason, so reason won't take them out of it. And yelling and screaming will only bury them in it further. So the more obviously stupid shit the politicians do, the more the other side yells, ridicules, and sometimes tries to use reason to 'make the stupid voters on the other side *see*'. And the less likely anyone is to actually sit down with someone on the other side and listen to them, talk to them like a human being, respect them even. And so people's opinions won't change. And the politicians are fine with that. Keep the people in their camps, change the voting district lines and the rules (Trump for a third term is *guaranteed* to hit the docket if he's elected), and they think they'll win. When really the only way they can lose is if all of us actually start talking to each other like decent human beings again. So they work to make sure we don't do that. And we fall for it. Every time.

AlmondJoyStBrown

I honestly am at a loss at how even to have discourse at this point. "DEI is ruining our schools" ok too many minorities is still better than letting another school shooting happen??!?

FilthyInfantrySlut

As a sociologist. Most people can’t get the core concepts. I live in a a Broward County. 63% of people can’t read. They’re barely making it and need and enemy. They. Don’t. Have. Critical. Thinking. Skills. Floridians are so slow on the uptake, behind the curve and more unemphatic than a Replicant. They only understand hate.

Nothing set in stone but it sounds like the school I work for wants to move me to the Honors English I position. I’m pretty excited about that.

gander258

Nice! Which book(s) would you have the class read?

Prophet92

Still have to stick to the district curriculum, and most of it would still be the stuff I taught in standard English I this year but with Angela’s Ashes or Lord of the Flies thrown in.

varnalama

Man Lord of the Flies was brutal. Before reading it we pretended what our class would do if we got stuck on an island. We first voted a leader/oranizer but it was a popularity contest. It quickly became noticeable the ditzy girl who won did not know how to coordinate stuff and we immediately had a second group break off and say "if you want to actually survive and not be led to your death by this dumb blonde, we will be in this corner." That second group ended up taking over. Shit was wild.

Had to get an April parking pass for work days and the garage I’ve been using for like 18 months is in the primo location and it’s underground so it doesn’t get crazy hot Buuut it’s $100 a month so im going with a different spot this month starting tomorrow. I got a pass for $60 for an outdoor lot that’s like a block and a half farther away. Kinda sucks cause I like to dip on my lunch breaks in my car but I’ll try it out. 40% less is p good. Maybe I can make it work.  I was gonna drink a million beers 2nite but don’t really wanna be hungover when I try to find it for the first time tomorrow. Maybe I’ll just drink like half a million.  Joys of working downtown

junkspot91

My 30 unit building is now down to 14 occupied units after a new landlord bought it and instituted a 30-40% "market rate adjustment" on all lease renewals. I understand that the building will fill back up eventually and that getting old tenants to move out, both to update the apartments a bit and get a new renter base that won't have residual sticker shock from the price increase, is all part of the long term plan, but it does make still being here for a couple more months feel pretty weird. Like the building's slowly dying.

anyone have a suggestion for a good game on steam where i, in a turn based and tactical format, send my guys to kill their guys? edit: already played xcom

RukiMotomiya

Tried Wargroove?

l_i_t_t_l_e_m_o_n_ey

both of em, love em!

RukiMotomiya

How about Soul Nomad and the World Eaters? That one's a bit of a classic. I know the Banner Saga trilogy's supposed to be quite good, as well.

l_i_t_t_l_e_m_o_n_ey

> Soul Nomad and the World Eaters Sounds like a crazy prog rock band. oh, this is nippon ichi? Then it's got promise. I loved disgaea 2 as a kid. Tried to play the new ones but with modern voice acting they're just too cringey and weeaboo. just depends on how unbearable it is. I'll wait on a big sale, tho. thanks for the suggestions!

RukiMotomiya

Soul Nomad goes on sale pretty often, so shouldn't be hard to acquire. And it came out in 2007 when Disgaea 2 is 2006 so it should fit the same "era" of Nippon Ichi. If you like Fire Emblem games, Vestaria Saga is on Steam from Shouzou Kaga the guy who made the early ones. Valkyria Chronicles on Steam is also a classic for this kinda thing, although it has some shooter elements too. Brigandine: The Legend of Runersia is one I've heard good things about on Steam, too. If you ever are interested in non-PC games perhaps gotten through Interesting Means, then Vandal Hearts and Kartia: The Word of Fate are worth taking a look at.

Milpool18

2nd one is wildly different from the first fyi and while fun plays more like slay the spire in a DD skin

l_i_t_t_l_e_m_o_n_ey

i love slay the spire. hundreds of hours. currently playing Balatro as we speak. so sounds like i'd really like DD2

Lessthansubtleruse

If you like slay the spire, have you looked at Roguebook at all? Also, inkbound might be up your alley

gander258

Civ 5?

Lessthansubtleruse

The Last Spell is worth looking at, little bit more of a sending your guys out to meatgrind waves and waves of incoming enemies, with a little bit of town building thrown in.

l_i_t_t_l_e_m_o_n_ey

I've got about 100 hours in that, loved it!

Lessthansubtleruse

it was definitely my game of the year last year based on how much time i sunk into it haha. Have you looked at Brigandine legend of runersia? It's a hex map turn based strategy and tactics game with a bit of a grand strategy feel to it. Also, Tactics Ogre: Reborn is worth a look if you've played final fantasy tactics and enjoyed.

l_i_t_t_l_e_m_o_n_ey

played the original let us cling together, don't really wanna do it again. I love FFT (check the name) but idk, tactics ogre never got me as much. Enjoyed it, but don't wanna do it again. I will definitely look closely at this brigandine game

FilthyInfantrySlut

Front Mission 2 Final Fantasy Tactics Wasteland 3 Wierd West Shadowrun Trilogy Hard West 2 Desperados 3 Mario and Rabbids Kingdom Under Fire 2 Marvel: Xmen Evil Goop Venom Game. Unconventional Warfare Ogre Battle 64 Miasma Chronicles Goblin Stone

Played many of these--what is marvel: xmen evil goop venom game? Can't seem to find it googling.

FilthyInfantrySlut

The new one that came out. Just look for evil and dark looking skulls on the cover. It’s x com like, but with free distance, not like a grid. It’s pretty fun. Has combos and wierd abilities.

l_i_t_t_l_e_m_o_n_ey

can you send me a link? when i google it, nothing comes up but the venom wikipedia page and dumb history pages of the venom character and also the spiderman PS5 games...

US players would demolish an international squad in american football. On sheer athleticism alone, it could be a draw, sure, but US player development and culture around this particular sport stands alone in the world and is ahead of the next closest country, whichver that may be, by orders of magnitude. This is in stark contrast to baseball and basketball, where players from outside the US at least have access to a certain level of institutional development that meets a threshold where the US' comparative resource advantage doesn't make much of a difference.

[deleted]

[удалено]

brotherbock

You do realize the question is about 'American born', not 'names that sound American to you', right?

ElCoolAero

Mathematically, the foreign-born NFL team would have a chance to win. Realistically, they have no chance of winning.

[deleted]

[удалено]

ElCoolAero

Fine. Now, put together the rest of the defense and an offense.

CarlCaliente

US-Born players would demolish in football, I think. The international scene has produced a few stars like Danielle Hunter from Jamaica and (TIL) Kyle Hamilton was born in Greece. But I just doubt they have enough top-end talent to compete at every position with a US all-star team. Even if they had the talent at every other position, who would their QB be? Brett Rypien? He's got Canadian citizenship but he was born in the US so even there you're stretching the rules. Though, if you're okay stretching the rules based on citizenship you could also snag Amon-Ra St. Brown for the international team as another star player. They actually do something similar to this in pro golf. There's an event called the Ryder cup where the best US players play against the best European players every-other-year. There's also a Presidents Cup where the US plays against the rest of the world (everyone but Europe) on the Ryder's off years. Really fun events to watch. EU currently holds the Ryder cup after a really strong 2023 event, and the US holds the Presidents cup.

He is. Just let the mods ban him, don't give him the attention he so desperately needed from his parents.

And they're a coward like all racists, deleting the posts before the mods can respond to flags.

brotherbock

It's not a weird way. They're being straight-up racist by implying that people without white-sounding names aren't from the US.

BlueHighwindz

Man, the off-season didn't really set it in fully until like, last week, now nothing is happening. Do the stupid draft already, you cowards.

CarlCaliente

do you want multiple months of nothing happening after the draft

Only if the draft ends with the Broncos having a new QB. I'd really rather not be furious and starting fights with strangers on the street and spitting on babies in strollers like I have been after most drafts.

DavianVonLorring

I have this dystopian storyline idea where all 50 US states have their own professional football team who are invested through state funds and taxpayer money. Every year, each state participates in the big football season where they put their fundings into a national betting pool, and the winner of the United Bowl Championship pulls in all the winnings from the other states. Additionally, the state gets bragging rights for a year as the “Ultimate State.” Really silly idea, but it got me thinking what kind of world would it be like where professional football is the ultimate sport that prevails over everything and everyone. Opens up a lot of stories on how the politics of it plays out. Plus, every state will be trying their absolute hardest to get the very best players. Anything can happen with that.

zappy487

Love it. Reminds me of the idea I had for my buddies D&D campaign. He had a core group of players, but like me, there were those of us who either live in different states or worked weird hours, and he wanted us to be involved too. So he made us Gods in his pantheon. And his general story was about the players becoming a gods champion, and ultimately replacing that god in the pantheon. My character was essentially a Death/Hades figure. While all the other gods had stipulations on who could come to their afterlife, I got all the rest, plus all the beasts and animals etc. This wound up me having the largest afterlife. I envisioned it as a massive metropolis with several domains. First domain is humanlike (humans, dwarves, elves, orcs etc.). Second was beasts. Third was the Archive of Life, which was a massive, nearly endless library that catalogues everyone who lived and still lives. My own personal domain. And at the core, where I train the army who helps prevent the universe from being destroyed by Outsiders from a different dimension. Sorry for the lengthy background. Now my friend gave us free reign to basically be a co-DM for our section. My plan was this: My afterlife was a bit special as it has connections to all other afterlife's in kind of an airport scenario. This was people from other afterlives can visit relatives. You could also apply for visas for travel to other afterlives for things like vacations etc. Due to my expertise in handling so many souls, the other pantheons allow this arrangement, and use me for layovers etc. But the point is you can travel between afterlives, and it is very easy to visit mine. No visa required. Once a revolution, my afterlife, along with sponsorship from the Goddess of Luck, holds a week long tournament that's kind of like March Madness style. Each god from the pantheon puts up a team in the bracket, and they face various trials from impartial gamemasters. It could be combat. It could be puzzle solving. It could be anything really. It's up to the creativity of the gamemaster. This leads to it being fair for each pantheon, because unlike mine, many of the other champions will be highly specialized, and you need a well rounded team. I, however, am not allowed to choose my team as the host. We have kind of an NFL season, and that years champions with coaching and support staff, gets to compete. The winning pantheon, of course, gets bragging rights which is highly coveted. And of course, there's attempts at cheating and backroom deals, and "scripts". The only rule being don't get caught cheating. I was going to have the players be the neutral party judging the games.

DavianVonLorring

Gosh I really need to learn how to play D&G. That sounds imaginative.

If you want to learn, I suggest you check out either Dimension 20 or Critical Role on YouTube! CR is more voice actors playing characters at like a professional level, but Matt Mercer (the DM) is next level, and very much explains the rules. He's great for setup and world building. Their first campaign, Vox Machina, was so good it became a tv show, and the ending was so good that Wizards literally made it canon. Dimension 20 is usually ran by Brennan Lee Mulligan. And he's an improv expert. The cast is more on the true nerd side, so they understand their rulesets a bit more. And he has a very go-with-the-flow way of storytelling while creating some of the more memorable NPC's and villains. All-in-all, really the hardest part about tabletop games is schedule coordination!

my team is doing a team event thing today and they suggested it would be fun to give a brief powerpoint presentation on a stupid topic of our choice I accidentally created a 15-minute presentation on the curse of Bobby Layne and how the Lions are working to overcome it. hope my two non-sports fan team mates are ready to strap in for the ride.

My brother and I have finally had enough and went upstairs to confront our neighbor about the constant early morning noise. Long story short apparently we don't have an upstairs neighbor, it's a fucking Airbnb. Which is expressly prohibited in our complex. We found the listing, but by the time the leasing office opened the fuckers that we got mad at must have warned them since it had been deleted.  Management is still obviously looking into it, but even if they don't get kicked out we still found them out, so we aren't going to stand for any more guests. If another shows up we're going full Step Brothers in their asses.

Screenshot screenshot screenshot next time so you have proof for the landlord.

Mrr_Bond

Yeah we didn't think of that till like an hour or so later, and it was already down. It was early and we were tired. We'll still be watching like hawks now.

Illbeanicefella

NFL is probably the only league that foreign born players would be at a disadvantage

A_1337_Canadian

If you you were doing all-time, same could be said with hockey and Canada. 17/20 all time points leaders are Canadian. If you do active players, then there's no one country that would really dominate. Unless you did domestic (Canada + US) vs international, then it would be no-contest for domestic.

DavianVonLorring

Damn, Florida. You folks better show up to vote this coming November. There’s a lot on the line.

Citronaut1

I was born and raised here and I love my state so much, but man things have gone downhill fast. Overcrowded, overpriced, and a political shit show.

CarlCaliente

I was a blue voter in Florida but their culture wars nonsense drove me out. Couldn't handle it. Suspect they're a sinking ~~ship~~ state, fuck em

elerner

Unless you got one of those Bugs Bunny saws, I have some bad news about how sinking works.

CarlCaliente

ah well they'll sink first. I'll get the quartet to play us a few songs before the rest of it goes

elerner

let's get /r/theydidthemath in here to see how fast/far Florida would need to sink in order to launch Seattle into orbit like a trebuchet.

ReallyDrunkPanda

Well, got an interview Thursday. So that’s cool. I haven’t interviewed for a job in almost 5 years. Two things I’m feeling 1.excited 2. Terrified

Sepik121

fingers crossed for you! Hopefully it goes well.

ReallyDrunkPanda

Thanks! I really hope it goes well.

Sepik121

I've got faith in you internet stranger. I'll also say that just doing the basics of dressing up well, showing up a little bit early, etc., goes a long way. Or at least it did for my team when we had to start interviewing folks for an opening we had (i work in non-profits, not entirely sure how much it'll overlap if any, but even then the basics are the basics, ya know?).

ReallyDrunkPanda

Thanks I appreciate it. You’re right. The basics go a long way. Luckily it’s not too far from where I live so that’s a plus. Oh I’ll dress up like rent is due tomorrow

Sepik121

Listen, i'm just saying that I have now watched 3 tigers games for the first time ever, and they've won all of them. I am either wildly lucky, or i'm being setup for crushing disappointment as the season continues. Possibly both!

DetroitLionsSBChamps

I think I'm gonna snag Bally's Detroit this year. the NFL offseason leaves such a hole in my life. time to fill it with 162 baseball games

VRomero32

Tigers have a young squad, they can definitely if not this year, the next year make a jump similiar to the Orioles last year especially the fact AL Central is weaker division than the AL East.

WabbitCZEN

>especially the fact AL Central is weaker division than the AL East. Every division is weaker than the AL East. It's so fucking stupid how these teams can look like chumps against the A's or some other bottom feeder, but will come to town and sweep a division rival in dominating fashion.

VRomero32

AL West other than the Athletics is a decent division between the Astros, Rangers and Mariners

Kohakuho

Had to kind of chew out one of my employees in our monthly one on one. I hope I handled it well. I tried to couch it between some "happier" topics.

gander258

Welcome back Kohakuho. I miss your sumo, snake, and snack updates

Kohakuho

Thanks! Yeah, I'm busier at work now. After May 5th I'll have some new burgers, and it'll be just in time for my May banzuke reaction!

It was less about compliments, and more asking about if there were any trainings they wanted to attend or tasks they wanted me to provide more focused instruction or practice examples for. In our office we try really hard to indulge specific work-related interests our folks have.

I tried to impress a girl last night by having her quiz me on Jets trivia. Don’t be like me, fellas.

SharxSharxSharx

Don't do that. Next time, just say "I'm not a photographer, but I can picture us together". Or ask her if she's a keyboard (because she's just your type". Or ask if she's a loan, because she has your interest. Or ask if she's an electrician because she's lighting up your day. Or just say "I thought this was a [restaurant/bar/etc.] but it must actually be a museum, because you're a work of art". Protip: It works best if you say "[restaurant/bar/etc.]". You can also tell her that if she was a vegetable, she'd be a cute-cumber. And if she was a fruit, she'd be a fine-apple. And if she was words on a page, she'd be fine print. Then you should ask her if she's a parking ticket. Because she has "fine" written all over her. These work best if you use them all in a row. Let me know if you want more.

brotherbock

You're so beautiful...you could be a waitress.

brotherbock

She looked at you funny, said "Oh no!" and you immediately replied "Roger Vick!"

VRomero32

One of the first dates, I had when I moved to San Francisco. Went to a Bar Trivia night, which we both mentioned in our dating profiles. Very pretty nerd type including going to Stanford.. I am very dominant and was dominant for our team (She was struggling with answers, maybe got 1-2 right) and we won (a $500 prize and we were the only 2-person team). She when the date was over and we're walking out and saying our goodbyes and shot me pissed off look... said "I don't think we're a match... You're way too smarter than me and I can't stand that. I wish you well but not a match." So I was turning around and she coughed "Well are you going to split the money"... I normally just say "nothing and probably just give her half".... but considering how her attitude to me...I was "Well I was smart enough to grab the money" and i gave her $50 and walked away. As I crossed the street to head to the BART station and delete our match in HINGE, I can hear her yell "A-HOLE"

princessestef

Wtf? my partner is much smarter than me. Unless someone purposely makes you feel inferior, I don't understand how that could be a problem.

FlatulentDwarf

Were you trying to impress her, or make her pity you by giving her info about the Jets? Either way, hope it worked

JerryRiceAndSpice

Congrats on the sex!

Dance last night was fun. Exhausting, but fun. Reggaeton was week 2 of a choreo we started last week, I was glad to have a second shot at it and really enjoyed the piece. Our teacher always does a few "volunteer" runs through at the end of class (let 2-5 students perform for everyone) and I was able to volunteer alongside my best Commercial Choreo friend and our Commercial Choreo teacher as a trio. Was very fun dancing with them. Latin Shines was a kizomba routine. It was a nice slower pace after an intense reggaeton class, but man kizomba is so much more fun with a partner. It felt like a tease doing my favorite partner style solo. Give me bachata or cha-cha solo, let me keep doing kizomba with a partner. He even had us doing my favorite partner move solo which was just painful. That's usually where I end my Mondays, but my community team is currently working on a powerhouse jazz dance routine with the jazz teacher and she suggested that if the routine was hard, we should come and just take the warm-up and technique portion of her intermediate/advanced class on Mondays and we could bail if we got overwhelmed when she transitioned to choreography (she also said we could stay the whole time, but I know damn well I can't keep up with her choreography). So I stayed for that class. I think I felt overwhelmed 5 minutes into the warm-up because I was already exhausted from 2 hours of dance but I stayed almost a whole hour, through all the technique practice. It was really helpful and fun, and she's a brilliant teacher. She broke down the muscle groups and specifics really well, and even went into the history of some of the moves and where they come from. I still suck at jazz, but I think I'm going to keep going. Maybe even after we finish her piece to keep improving my technique until our year-end performance. Gotta make sure she's okay with me crashing her class all year, though. She probably is, she's such a kind heart, but I want to make sure I ask. 3 hours of dance last night and oh boy was I fucking *exhausted*. I was dripping sweat. I walk to the studio and I ended up hanging out on the couch talking to the studio owner for basically half an hour because I was too tired for the .3 mile walk home.

Luck1492

Everyone walking around Iowa City yesterday evening had their head buried in their phone, for obvious reasons. Source: I was there

brotherbock

That was a heck of a game. EDIT: But why on earth were you in Iowa City? LOL (no judging, it's not a bad place)

Luck1492

I go to school here lmfao

brotherbock

Oh cool. Did some school there too, lived in town for a bunch of years. Enjoy the damn snow today :/

IAgreeGoGuards

Decided to go to the little coffee shop nearby to study for a bit. I forgot that it was always so hot in here.

cheeseburgertwd

If you schedule a meeting for longer than an hour, oops sorry just had a conflict come up

FlatulentDwarf

That's a policy (a mostly useless one) at my work. If a meeting is longer than an hour you're not supposed to accept it. But also if a 2 hour meeting gets sent your way and you don't accept it, you'll get a "hey buddy we really need you *this one time*" message and be expected to attend anyways.

cheeseburgertwd

There's some nuance involved for sure. I'm more likely to fully attend a long meeting from my boss who I like than some rando not even in my department. But after a while without a break my attention span just dies and I'm completely useless at that point anyway

FlatulentDwarf

Yeah, same. Especially when I'm only tangentially involved in part of the discussion of the meeting. If I've been listening to droning for an hour and a half I'm going to have a hard time re-starting my brain when you finally do need my input.

Alchohlica

I guess fios shit the bed again
