I've been seeing this posted and it's the massive copium and hopium that I've been huffing for the last 10 minutes to get over how angry I was that we drafted a WR.
Stroud is fantastic and he wanted Tank Dell so I figure he knows something about this guy.
Worthy is a perfect scheme fit for KC. They needed someone fast with good route running to keep defenses honest again. For other teams, maybe you take Pearsall. Not for the Chiefs.
Marquise Brown is fast but he’s not someone that gets sent straight down the field often. Target depth last season was 11.9, which ranked 37th among WR’s. He’s a big YAC player.
“during his 1,000-yard campaign in 2021, 69 of Brown's 91 catches took place no further than nine yards beyond the line of scrimmage, and on those receptions, Brown recorded 310 yards after-the-catch.”
I picture Worthy keeping defenses honest while Brown, Rice (assuming he plays) and Kelce operate in the middle of the field. Brown will occasionally be sent deep.
Worthy is extraordinarily fast but he does not have the ball skills or strength of Tyreek
I understand the pick but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up very one dimensional
I partly agree with both of you. Very fast but he’s certainly not one dimensional as a speedster, Worthy runs a full route tree and is very difficult to mirror off a double move. He has had drop issues, though that can really be attributed to him breaking his hand and playing through it, wasn’t really a problem last year, also, Hill had drop issues too. And then he could stand to put on like 10 pounds, which our team already said was the plan; that’ll make him a bit sturdier.
He’s less Hill and more Desean Jackson with a higher ceiling who could turn into Hill-lite. I still think Hill’s ball tracking abilities and physicality at his size are unmatched.
No, but his route running is overlooked and players can develop.
Plus those skills are less useful in an offense where he’ll be catching open accurate passes in space.
Lockett is a great example but he’ll be more open from their schemes and he just needs to catch.
If he didn’t catch that pass there’s a whole lot of people looking at him afterwards confused what he was even trying to do. Like it doesn’t look like a catch even when he DID catch it. It looks like the kind of video that has to be in reverse. Just bonkers.
It actually is in reverse, I was there that night. He got hit and then was like "fuck it I'mma just yeet this fucker back to the QB" and lateraled it like 30 yards.
Yes that’s my point. What are the odds BOTH are great. There’s just no way lol This is like in Casino when De Niro is cussing out his pit boss about one guy hitting 2 progressive jackpots being a scam.
They'll downvote you but you're not wrong. As if any of us give two flying shits what someone's race is but when 53% of the players are black and only 14% of the US population is black, there's probably a significant reason for such overrepresentation...
I can't believe you're not only congratulating the niners on the pick but also love the San Francisco state university gators!
I know that there are no gators in San Francisco and I'm not sure why that's the mascot despite going there.
Yes I know they don't have a football program there anymore.
But did you know Andy Reid got his start there.
Check out Cj Stroud's reaction and thoughts about this pick!!!!

Going into the draft I was hoping that if we had ended up trading Aiyuk we’d go o-line and a CB with those picks. WR was nowhere near what I was thinking in the first of our picks.
we don't really retire numbers.
There was a period in the 90s where we asked older players for permission to use their numbers but that largely went away post-Spurrier.
players still wear 7 or 11 too.
This dude is gonna be our #4 WR unless the 49ers traded Deebo or Aiyuk, and he's a downgrade from those two. Our offensive line outside of Williams is terrible and needs to be fixed
Which is fine, neither were making waves. Bell has heart, though. Not sure why people are upset by this pick. We don't have to move Deebo or Aiyuk this season, the OL left on the board are not worth the opportunity cost of a 5th year option on a more expensive position, CB would have been the next best choice, but with the WR market getting expensive and the high probability of moving Deebo next off-season we draft a Z receiver that can step into his starting role after a season of getting in the mix.
Better long game could've been draft now, keep Deebo/Aiyuk and field a better roster this year. Then trade Deebo next year for picks for the long game. And trading him next year means we don't take the massive dead cap hit.
Well, see, the 49ers don't already have players who can make insane catches. Like if a defender is about to intercept a ball and then he's slightly too fast and then it bounces off his helmet, the 49ers don't have a guy who can catch the ball in that situation. Other than Aiyuk, but he's just one guy. Now you've got two.
As an FSU fan, I hated playing against this guy. 49ers should love him.
Also as an FSU fan...49ers should grab Jaheim Bell. Swiss army knife of an offensive weapon they could put to good use, particularly if they move on from Deebo.
With so many "first one in, last one out" kind of guys on one team, no one will ever be able to leave the practice facility. Niners forfeit all games this year as entire team is too busy being "cerebral" and "all heart" in the locker room.
Was it a reach? Kind of, yeah. But if Pearsall had played with a competent QB I firmly believe he would've been WR4. Literal hospital passes left and right that he somehow managed to bring down. YAC Harlow --> soon.
HOW IS IT THAT NABERS IS DESCRIBED AS "A GENERATIONAL ATHLETE WR WITH ELITE EXPLOSIVENESS" AND PEARSALL IS DESCRIBED AS "NOT THE BEST ATHLETE ", " A GOOD ENOUGH ATHLETE" BY SEVERAL SPORTS NFL MEDIA ANALYSTS????? The next couple picks were the Bills and Panthers and the Patriots after that. Probably weren't gonna get him on a trade back.
Like this pick more than the Penix pick
Stroud is super pissed on the podcast, seems this was who he wanted Texans to get this draft.
Stroud has been so poised and absolutely lost it when he heard the name called lmfao
I choose to live in delusion and throw all of my faith behind CJ Stroud being an elite talent evaluator
He picked Tank Dell
Doesn't count if they have a cool name.
He goes by slick Rick if that helps
It definitely does
In that case, future HOF
Reports that he had Chop Robinson and Kool-Aid McKinstry 1 and 2 on his draft board this year /s
Honestly (this is coping Ik) but he seems super knowledgeable on rosters and plays and prospects from what I’ve seen of him and Micah parsons talking
He’s the one that wanted Tank Dell so he definitely knows talent
I mean he really wanted tank Dell. So, I would consider him the greatest wide reciever evaluator in history
Still runner up to the Vikings organization. He needs a little longer to establish his track record.
Nah, he's the greatest ever. Helps me sleep at night knowing brock purdy might die next season
JJ, Moss, Rice, Harvin? Am I missing some
Diggs
Sideline
Thielen
Carter
Drafted by the Eagles
He played with 5 nfl pro bowl WRs in his college career. He knows a talented WR when he sees one
I've been seeing this posted and it's the massive copium and hopium that I've been huffing for the last 10 minutes to get over how angry I was that we drafted a WR. Stroud is fantastic and he wanted Tank Dell so I figure he knows something about this guy.
Where can I watch this now?
How many WRs does he need lol?
Well, he did throw to Olave, Wilson, JSN, MHJ, and Egbuka at OSU.
That's an OK group of receivers I guess
It's clearly an OSU group.... Get a load of this guy
Listen here you little shit
I always read JSN and think it's short for Jason
Still couldn’t beat Michigan
Connor Stalions
Because Michigan dodged Ohio State in 2020 and cheated in 21 and 22
Dude wants to collect WRs like infinity stones
So we got to collect corners like... Oh no.
BR big board has him 66th overall I'm sure no one expected him to go 1st round
What podcast?
He’s on Micah Parson’s live stream rn
How many WRs does he want!?
Confusing pick, but holy shit that’s a nice catch
There may be WRs with higher ceilings, but he fits perfectly in the 49ers offense
Scrappy.
One of my favorite players in the entire draft. He's super talented. I would've taken him over Worthy if I were the Chiefs.
Worthy is a perfect scheme fit for KC. They needed someone fast with good route running to keep defenses honest again. For other teams, maybe you take Pearsall. Not for the Chiefs.
Didn't you just sign a guy in FA who is supposed to fill that role?
Marquise Brown is fast but he’s not someone that gets sent straight down the field often. Target depth last season was 11.9, which ranked 37th among WR’s. He’s a big YAC player. “during his 1,000-yard campaign in 2021, 69 of Brown's 91 catches took place no further than nine yards beyond the line of scrimmage, and on those receptions, Brown recorded 310 yards after-the-catch.” I picture Worthy keeping defenses honest while Brown, Rice (assuming he plays) and Kelce operate in the middle of the field. Brown will occasionally be sent deep.
Worthy is going to be terrifying on the chiefs. He’s fucking Tyree 2
Worthy is extraordinarily fast but he does not have the ball skills or strength of Tyreek I understand the pick but it wouldn't surprise me if he ends up very one dimensional
I partly agree with both of you. Very fast but he’s certainly not one dimensional as a speedster, Worthy runs a full route tree and is very difficult to mirror off a double move. No, but his route running is overlooked and players can develop. Plus those skills are less useful in an offense where he’ll be catching open accurate passes in space. Lockett is a great example but he’ll be more open from their schemes and he just needs to catch.
Worthy is more developed coming in as a receiver than Tyreek was
If he didn’t catch that pass there’s a whole lot of people looking at him afterwards confused what he was even trying to do.
Aiyuk and/or Deebo might be outta there. That's what the speculation is
Alright this catch changed my mind, FUCK IT LET'S GO
Cause theyll get the dbs ejected and a penalty
Yea that play is insane, fuck it just have purdy scramble every play
I’m a big gator fan and Pearsall suits yall perfectly. Dude is an absolute stud. Best UF wr since Percy Harvin
Tricky Ricky makes all kinds of crazy contested catches, a weapon for y’all for sure
That dude reaction is hilarious
Dude that was all of us in the stands when we saw, it was insane
That catch is nasty and one hell of a hospital pass from the QB simultaneously
Jimmy G in shambles that he'll never get to throw hospital balls to this guy
I’m no expert but I feel like that’s a statement that some how results in the monkey’s paw curling and y’all trading for him at the deadline.
Classy guy, fits in with Brock, cmc, kittle, bosa. Just something about them, can’t quite put my finger on it
I’d let them date my daughter
What about me
Yes, I'd let them date you, too.
Juzcyk in shambles
I was wanting Cooper Dejean, only other pick there
“*Thats how a white man catches the football!*” - Lynch probably
Tough run, smart run. Heads up run there.
The odds of him being all pro, being on the same roster as CMC, has to be nearly impossible lol
he's white
Yes that’s my point. What are the odds BOTH are great. There’s just no way lol This is like in Casino when De Niro is cussing out his pit boss about one guy hitting 2 progressive jackpots being a scam.
Are you saying he's less likely to be great because he's white?
As a white myself, yes. Yes I am lol. Not as a person of course. Just as an NFL wr.
They'll downvote you but you're not wrong. As if any of us give two flying shits what someone's race is but when 53% of the players are black and only 14% of the US population is black, there's probably a significant reason for such overrepresentation...
This is fucking dumb
More dumb than taking a wr when ya need an OL or corner? Not having an OL cost them a title.
That’s sick
Florida’s QB room has been hot garbage too. Pearsall is a lot better than people think.
This is Mertz slander and I won’t stand for it
Gym rat
CMC will train him
First one in last one out kinda guy
Guy pail lunch
Eats pails for lunch
Best shape of his career
Sneaky athletic
Athleticly sneaky
I would let him date my daughter honestly.
Same, something classy about him compared to other WRs, but I can't put my finger on it
Maybe it's melanin.
Real lunch pail type
People really never get tired of this shit huh?
49ers got a good one, go gators!!! 🐊🐊🐊
We can only be friends this one time
Go Gators. Also can’t wait to see AR doin his thing this year
Hope so because I don’t feel great about him.
Ricky is a great player, was a little surprised he went this high but I wouldn’t feel bad about the pick
I can't believe you're not only congratulating the niners on the pick but also love the San Francisco state university gators! I know that there are no gators in San Francisco and I'm not sure why that's the mascot despite going there. Yes I know they don't have a football program there anymore. But did you know Andy Reid got his start there.
Golden Gators = Golden Gate Bridge
What the fuck. Won’t need a wr when Brock is dead because our Oline is ass
Basically wasn’t any Olinemen left
JPJ?
Apparently he had medical issues or something
lol for real, future All Pro C just chillin there for the taking
I’m assuming BA is getting traded and we are getting a second +
If we trade BA I’m done.
Done with what exactly
Oh, you know 😏
I'm down for BA getting traded. Seahawks fan.
For some reason I thought this was going to be a longer highlight reel
Check out Cj Stroud's reaction and thoughts about this pick!!!! [https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkxgf9wUv1lKTQLa2ViQ-B-ZOsSGpRkuZfz](https://www.youtube.com/clip/Ugkxgf9wUv1lKTQLa2ViQ-B-ZOsSGpRkuZfz)
That catch is insane
Single play worthy
Ehhhhhhh……
We have bigger needs
Going into the draft I was hoping that if we had ended up trading Aiyuk we’d go o-line and a CB with those picks. WR was nowhere near what I was thinking in the first of our picks.
I just don't unders--holy shit what a catch
How do they let people still wear 15 at Florida? Tim Tebow was the greatest college football player ever and I hated him.
we don't really retire numbers. There was a period in the 90s where we asked older players for permission to use their numbers but that largely went away post-Spurrier. players still wear 7 or 11 too.
I’m so done
He’s actually sick. You got a good one.
It's not gonna matter when our offensive line gets its teeth knocked in again
If only the draft was longer than one day
This dude is gonna be our #4 WR unless the 49ers traded Deebo or Aiyuk, and he's a downgrade from those two. Our offensive line outside of Williams is terrible and needs to be fixed
I think the point of drafting a first round WR is that you don’t think they’re gonna be worse than the receivers you already have
Nah man, all these random dudes know way better than the coaching staff.
In addition to deebo missing 3-4 games a season
Brock is just gonna have to channel his Iowa State self and go off script every other play.
Sure he is but Brock will be dead in the pocket while MHJ is cooking our secondary
Man, MHJ had another monster day today with 127yds and a TD! Shame the Cardinals still lost 35-10 because the rest of their team is shit!
Imagine being scared of the cardinals of all fucking teams.
Least dramatic niners fan
Nah some of us are just done celebrating 2nd place finishes year after year like the rest of y'all do
Oh poor you
We’re not all like this
Done with what exactly?
Holy wtf
I’m going to throw up
Hate it
All right I’m in
Aiyuk? You see that?
thats not cooper dejean
I wanted the ravens to take him so bad
Aiyuk, get ready to learn the trade block
Not sure why everyone is saying this... It could be we're going to lose Deebo and Jennings next year.
Good bye Danny gray and/or Ronnie bell
Which is fine, neither were making waves. Bell has heart, though. Not sure why people are upset by this pick. We don't have to move Deebo or Aiyuk this season, the OL left on the board are not worth the opportunity cost of a 5th year option on a more expensive position, CB would have been the next best choice, but with the WR market getting expensive and the high probability of moving Deebo next off-season we draft a Z receiver that can step into his starting role after a season of getting in the mix.
We're in win now mode though, why use a 1st on a WR when we have 3 good ones already...
It’s all about the long game
Better long game could've been draft now, keep Deebo/Aiyuk and field a better roster this year. Then trade Deebo next year for picks for the long game. And trading him next year means we don't take the massive dead cap hit.
Niners will lose Deebo and that frees up money to pay BA.
Why
Well, see, the 49ers don't already have players who can make insane catches. Like if a defender is about to intercept a ball and then he's slightly too fast and then it bounces off his helmet, the 49ers don't have a guy who can catch the ball in that situation. Other than Aiyuk, but he's just one guy. Now you've got two.
Joey Bosa doing cartwheels
That’s a crazy reach. He would have been available this weekend.
I was hoping the Colts would’ve snagged him on day two to pair with AR
Aiyuk or deepen being traded tomorrow?
They're gonna trade one of their receivers
WHO DAF IS RICKY
Huh? How is this possible
Bro has his career play against the 49ers. Gets drafted by the 49ers. As written.
The last time a white WR was taken in the 1st round…. 2005 - Matt Jones - Jacksonville
Please correct, isn't that bad fundamentals especially in the middle of the field?
What does this mean for Aiyuk, Samuel and Jennings though?
White boy goes crazy
Peyton Manning would’ve killed this guy
As an FSU fan, I hated playing against this guy. 49ers should love him. Also as an FSU fan...49ers should grab Jaheim Bell. Swiss army knife of an offensive weapon they could put to good use, particularly if they move on from Deebo.
Great catch but he’s lucky that wasn’t cam chancellor back there.
With so many "first one in, last one out" kind of guys on one team, no one will ever be able to leave the practice facility. Niners forfeit all games this year as entire team is too busy being "cerebral" and "all heart" in the locker room.
I've never seen this catch, holy shit this might be the best catch I've ever seen
Was it a reach? Kind of, yeah. But if Pearsall had played with a competent QB I firmly believe he would've been WR4. Literal hospital passes left and right that he somehow managed to bring down. YAC Harlow --> soon.
Casual 1 handed grab on an absolute hospital ball
They got him to continue the [Brandon Lloyd tradition](https://youtu.be/FgCnh4U4b7s?si=hsp9jag0XguUiv7L)
Wow, that is a sick catch!
9ers got themselves a Thielen??? shit....
JJ McCarthy was a bad pick, but this was the worst pick of the 1st round. No reason at all to reach for this guy like that.
The next couple picks were the Bills and Panthers and the Patriots after that. Probably weren't gonna get him on a trade back. Like this pick more than the Penix pick
This dude would have been sitting there 10-15 picks into the next round. Penix is in a dumb league of its own. The Falcons are just horrible.
Did you miss the Falcons pick?
I think he’ll be good, but 31 is a reach for him ngl he def would’ve been available tomorrow. I would’ve picked AD or Ladd over him.
Lol, if this offense stays healthy Niners about to fuck shit up next year
That dudes reaction is on par with the Clelin Ferrell Reaction in 2019
I wonder if he likes pears
S'all he eats
Good catch
